Rainpuddle was asleep while her three kits suckled for milk. At Rabbitnose's paws was the lifeless body of her last kit.
"What's wrong with it?" Appleblaze asked, her tail tightly wrapped around her own kits.
"I don't know," Rabbitnose replied and carefully poked it. The tiny kit didn't move and although she tried everything she could to make it move, it was useless. She already knew it was dead. She looked at Rainpuddle asleep.
"At least she still has three," she said.
"Oh no!" Appleblaze gasped. "Don't tell me it's..." Rabbitnose nodded.
"I'm going to bury it now. Tell Rainpuddle what happened later." She picked the kit up in her mouth and then left the den. She left camp and found a quiet spot beneath the trees. She carefully buried the kit and then when the hole was filled again, covered it with sweet smelling flowers. Rabbitnose then made a quiet prayer to Starclan before returning home.

Inside her den Birdstar was waiting for her.
"Hello again!" she smiled.
"Oh no... What have you done now?" the medicine cat said, a smile returning to her face.

Dustbreeze had searched high and low for his two friends. Despite being in the same clan, it was much harder than it seemed. Finally, he had found them sharing tongues.
"There you two are!" he yelled as he padded towards them. "I've been looking for you guys everywhere."
"Oh, really? Sorry!" Greypatch said.
"We didn't realise," Blossomberry replied.
"That's okay. But anyway... I am now a warrior too! I'm Dustbreeze now!" he shouted.
"Congratulations!" she grinned towards him. He puffed his chest out in pride.
"Anyway so... Did you want to talk about anything?" Greypatch said, slightly rolling his eyes.
"Nothing really. I just wanted to catch up," he replied and sat between them. That started to talk about random things. Dustbreeze talked about his warriors assessment and the other two about things they saw on patrol. Then they sat in silence together.

"Psst..." Dustbreeze whispered in Greypatch's ear.
"What?"
"The bet's still on by the way."
"I know. I didn't forget," he whispered back with a cheeky smile.
"Neither have I," Dustbreeze growled. Greypatch laughed and that made him angry. Dustbreeze stood up.
"I'm going to see if I can go on a patrol!" he yelled.
"Me too!" the white and grey tom sat up too.
"Separate patrols though!"
"Of course!" The two toms ran away, leaving Blossomberry behind. She blinked in surprise. She had no idea what happened to them.

Flamebelly watched from behind her.
"You do realise they both like you, right?" he said and Cowpelt from beside him nodded in agreement.
"What do you mean?" she said, turning to face them.
"Greypatch and Dustbreeze both have a crush on you. They are trying to impress you," he told her.
"Hmm, yes... Reminds me of something I saw once in the barn I grew up in," Cowpelt nodded to himself.
"That can't be right..."
"Oh, trust me. It's very similar. These two toms were fighting over this one pretty she-cat. After a while, she moved away," he explained.
"Why did she do that?" Blossomberry asked.
"To get away from it all, duh!" he exclaimed. "She got sick of it, I guess. I haven't seen her since."
"Cowpelt's story aside, that is what those two are doing. They are fighting over you and hoping to impress you," Flamebelly said.
"Come on, guys... They are just my friends..." she smiled slightly.
"That's true. But just you wait and see what happens."

The two left and left her alone. She couldn't believe their words but at the same time couldn't stop thinking of it.

Reputation
The clan's reputation is one that does not really fit them...
Though Flightclan does nothing to change it. As they say,
"The rumors must be true! Flight clan cats will never back
out of a fight, and they will always finish what they started!"
Character
If you actually met a member of Flightclan, you would
see that it is a clan of cowards, and cats that are always
the first to back out of a fight, and often don't finish
what they started. However, they are just trying to seek
a peaceful solution, "for future generations."
Territory
Flightclan lives by a waterfall in the mountains. The land
below the mountains is a beautiful meadow, but there are few
trees or bushes, for, you know, hiding behind. So the cats
often stay up in the breezy mountains, hunting sparrows that
perch there.

here in the summits, the descendants of the apexclan remain. they're here, scaling
the very pinnacles of abella's mountains. they, being conceived here, know the cre
vices of every cavern, forest, river and, of course, mountain. apexclan is ghostly, t
he cats are like phantoms, laying hidden in plain sight. they are highly reclusive, q
uiet, and secretive.

iris is the granddaughter of a medicine cat of apexclan, aimie. like her grandmothe
r and the thousands of other cats of the summits, she is wild, untamed and ghostin
g. unlike some of her many relatives, she is born with a gift. this gift contains the
power to contact the deities any time she pleases. the deities are the few gods an
d goddesses that take the forms of the night, day, river, forest, and mountain. eve
ry cat is born in the particular period of when a deity is at its most potent power..
for example, gosse is the deity of war and blood and is most potent during late au
gust to early november. gosse does not watch over iris, but amaratha, the deity of
the weather and storms, does. cats that have a certain deity are supposed to 'act'
like them, having a similar personality and characteristics. iris is in many ways lik
e amaratha, compelling and powerful as well as tranquil and serene.

Why don't I feel anything? Oakheart asked himself. How is it possible that I could kill someone and feel nothing--no regret, no satisfaction--for it? Duckpelt had died in her sleep after he had put too many poppy seeds in her food. She hadn't deserved a violent death, as she was practically a matriarch of the clan and he had liked her. But she had still needed to die for his purposes. Birchnose had been killed by Snowcloud, Brightfang, and Fritillarynose in revenge for her failed leadership. Applenose had ascended to the deputyship the very next day in a move that had both surprised and enraged Oakheart. Hadn't he been a good warrior? Loyal, kind, and qualified? He was ridding the clan of its rot. He should have been the deputy. Well, there was still time. If he could just get rid of Applenose, maybe he could become deputy and then leader. After all, there weren't many warriors as qualified as he, Oakheart, was.

Applenose sat with Adderstream, Boulderpelt, and Barleystream. The four of them plus Dustleaf had been in the clan almost since the very beginning, and it was still hard to believe that Duckpelt was dead and Applenose was deputy. I'm sure you'll do great, Cloudmask had said. But no one had prepared him for this. No one.

"I miss them," said Adderstream quietly. They all knew he was talking about Duckpelt and Acornstream. "I miss how dad used to joke with mom. I miss how mom would always help out the other warriors with their apprentices. I miss their voices. I miss everything about them."

"I know," murmured Boulderpelt, nudging her brother. "I miss them too."

"We just have to do the best we can, I guess," said Applenose. "We have to honor their actions, honor their lives, through the lives we lead." At Applenose's words, the other three nodded in determination. The recent tragedies would carve a new path for the younger generations. Honeystar's reign was almost over; they could all feel it in their bones. But that meant that they would need to preserve Forestclan for the generations to come.

Birchnose and Duckpelt are murdered by Oakheart and his followers.
Applenose is confirmed as deputy of Forestclan.

[ Last Moon ]
Eagleflash perked her head up when she heard pawsteps entering the camp. She leaped to attention, and Pinestripe looked at her with confusion.
"I'm sure it's just Bramblestar coming back from the Moonpool," the young tom said, running a paw over the top of his head. Eagleflash didn't budge, and Pinestripe knew his sister well enough that she'd have to be ready for anything, especially since she wanted to be deputy. Pinestripe could tell, and even though they'd just entered the Clan, Eagleflash already had ambitions. She had told him that she could help the Clan find more cats to join, and set up organized patrols. She had loved the sound of the job ever since Bramblestar had told them about it. Pinestripe warned her that he wouldn't choose her so fast, yet she hadn't listened. But when Bramblestar walked into camp with another cat, they were both surprised.
The leader waved his tail at the young warriors. They then saw yet another cat enter behind the leader. Two new cats, Eagleflash observed.
"This is Mistywing," Bramblestar introduced a silver ticked she-cat with gray eyes, who looked barely younger than the siblings. "And this is Smokenose," he added, flicking his tail in the direction of a gray tabby she-cat with almost glowing amber eyes. He smiled warmly at their new Clanmates. "In addition, Mistywing is our new deputy," he finished. Eagleflash felt something hit her in the chest. She suddenly felt a wave of anger and envy twisting through her body. She took a deep breath and forced a smile.
"It's great to have you with us!" she meowed enthusiastically. Pinestripe nodded in agreement, and Mountainpaw stumbled out of the apprentices' den. Her ears flattened at the sight of two new cats, but she stood there without saying anything.
"She's shy around newcomers," Pinestripe added. "She still hasn't warmed up to us yet."
"Hopefully that'll change," Mistywing spoke for the first time. Her voice was soft and sweet, and you could see the genuine compassion in her eyes. "I used to be shy, but now I love chatting with other cats," she added. Smokenose just scoffed. She didn't seem very happy to be in the Clan, but Pinestripe had a feeling she'd warm up to them.
"Well, it's nice to meet you both," Pinestripe smiled. "How about we show you around?"

[ This Moon ]
Mistywing padded out of the warriors den with a grin. She was the deputy of GorseClan and she couldn't be prouder. She had been making patrols and sending out hunting parties for nearly a moon now, and her Clanmates were supportive and kind to her all the way. Pinestripe had taken a liking to her, and she was happy about that. The tom sat near the fresh-kill pile now, staring longingly at the single mouse sitting there. Mistywing sighed. The patrols hadn't been very successful lately, but her Clanmates said it wasn't her fault. She promised to herself that the Clan wouldn't starve. She shook the thought away and starting walking towards where her Clanmates were sharing tongues.
Eagleflash glanced at Mistywing exiting the den with stern eyes. She was completely loyal to her Clan, but she couldn’t help the feeling of envy growing inside of her day after day. She wanted desperately to be deputy, no matter how hard it was. She had what it takes to be deputy, certainly! She was smart, a good hunter, and she was sneaky, too! She sighed and decided to give it up for now. Someday she’d be deputy, she knew it.
Bramblestar was woken up by a paw prodding his side. He groaned and rolled over to see his apprentice looking down at him with wide eyes.
“Am I going to be a warrior next moon?” she asked hesitantly. Bramblestar sighed. He supposed that one of his Clanmates had told her that once she turned 12 moons, she’d be a warrior. He looked up at her sympathetically and began to stand up as he broke the news.
“Unfortunately, no. While you will be of age next moon, you haven’t had a lot of time to train. You need to train for a couple more moons before you can earn your warrior name, I’m afraid,” Bramblestar meowed with a sympathetic frown. Mountainpaw contemplated the thought a second, and then nodded in understanding. She left the den swiftly, and he saw his apprentice join her Clanmates willingly. He smiled at the sight; she was finally beginning to warm up to others, and she was making progress with being less scared of… everything.
Pinestripe turned his head to look at Mistywing. He gave her a warm smile and said good morning before returning to his conversation. Smokenose had been telling him about her days as an apprentice and how she had been exiled from her Clan after taking a mate. It turns out that she had been a medicine cat, but of course taking a mate as a medicine cat was forbidden. She no longer had a desire for the rank, she admitted, and so she decided to be a warrior in GorseClan. She could hardly remember half of the herbs at this point, anyway, since she’d been wandering the forest for moons after her mate ran away from his Clan. She wasn’t as grumpy as she seemed, as Pinestripe noticed, and so they continued to tell stories while Mistystar listened and commented at certain points with enthusiasm and warmth.

rosekit crouches, a little wobbly, and tries to sneak forwards, more wobbly still; tongue peeking out as he concentrated. rowanpaw heard him, of course, but kept on licking their paw like they hadn't, letting out a dramatic yowl as the kit pounced and landed on their back. "nooo," they cried above rosekit's giggles, muffled around a mouthful of their scruff. "my nefarious ways have been foiled by the might rosekit! aahhh, that tickles!!"
mudstar watched the exchange as she soaked up the evening sunshine, pointedly trying to ignore the burst of nostalgia in her chest.
the leaves covering the front of her shared den rustled a little as hazelleaf pushed their way out of the den through them, bleary-eyed and mid-stretch. they smiled, sleepily soft, as they noticed her; causing a pleasant warm burst of affection in her chest that she welcomed a hundred times over the nostalgia of earlier. "good evening, mud," they greeted halfway through a yawn, sitting down beside them heavily and kneading the short grass underfoot as they tried to get comfy.
"evenin'," she said warmly, glancing away when they turned their face up to the waning sunlight; ignoring the way her cheeks heated beneath her fur. the kit and apprentice proved an excellent distraction. rosekit let out another excited squeal; rowanpaw gently batting him away and the kit bouncing back as soon as they drew their paw back. hazelleaf laughed quietly as they turned their head to look the duo with interest. for a time, a comfortable silence fell between the pair.
"did you -" hazelleaf started, trailing off just as suddenly as they started. mudstar sat up with a soft concerned sound as she watched them frown at their paws. still not looking at her, they tried to find their words. "i mean. did you ever - do you have siblings?"
"oh," mudstar said in surprise. "yeah. there was three of us."
"did you play like that?" they asked.
"yeah," she said, glancing over to rowanpaw and rosekit and then back to hazelleaf. "we used to mess about a lot when nibi was off hunting. acting out stories they told us, playing hide and seek, that sort of stuff, y'know," she gulped down a painful breath. she missed duckstripe and badgerwhisker more than she had the words to say.
"not really," hazelleaf said so softly mudstar almost missed it. "i don't remember if i had siblings. i don't remember much before ma found me at all, really. sorry," they shook their head. "i didn't - sorry."

There are many wonders in this world, some that can never be explained. The wonders of Covina
are a few that still have never been explained, at least not very clearly. Finally, after generations
of waiting in wonder, the secrets are spilled - the past is renewed.

The cats of Covina are like no other you have witnessed before. They are a diverse population fe
ared by many for their unique yet seemingly powerful skill - witchcraft. Although many are set o
n that these cats are 'powerless', the group's strong belief in the superstitions and their ancient t
raditions, passed down from generation to generation, help to fuel a passion within them that m
ay just be more powerful than actual magic. Many fear or out-right dislike them because the gro
up is known for their brutality and harsh punishments to those of whom betray their law, or even
prisoners of enemy clans, often using torturous methods to show the accused their wrongs - one
of their most popular methods is burning the victim alive. Just like any other clan, these cats ar
e extremely loyal to their order until the very end. Any cat will risk their life for even the lowes
t ranking members, and thus respect also plays a key role among them. A cat seen disobeying a
higher-up or stirring havoc among the others is looked-down upon in a rather harsh way. As well,
cats that practice witchcraft are prohibited from inflicting a curse or manifestation of some sort
onto another member. Their magic can be powerful, but not everything can be solved using it. M
any among Covina are smart enough to realize this.

The territory Covina rules over is on the outskirts of a medieval village, a wide stone bridge con
necting the wilderness to its busy streets. Underneath the bridge is a thin stream that divides t
he two parts. The cats avoid this stream like the plague, literally, because their beliefs deem it
s rushing waters back luck. Stone circles, mushroom rings, and perfect rings of trees are just so
me of the natural phenomenons that can be spotted among the grounds as well. The landscape
is mainly flat with a few hills here and there, but densely forested in the northern and eastern
regions. The southern and southwestern region is clear of or has very few trees, and is very fla
t with grasses sprouted among the earth. This rather large plain holds a stone circle that is oft
en used by the clan during rituals and other ceremonies. Very far in the northeast is the village.
The cats never ever venture there, not even in an emergency. The stone bridge is only used to
reach the other side of the stream, which just serves as another suitable hunting grounds.

Cats here are very diverse. All different breeds, sizes, markings, pelt colors, or fur lengths en
d up among its grounds to join Covina. Many are either of feral decent or ex-kittypets that lef
t their old life to join them, which is uncommon but not an unusual case. Pets were not treate
d the same during their times like they are treated in the present. These cats are often alread
y half feral, thus making them suitable members anyway. Many are mixes and do not have a di
gnified breed, as the humans didn't care much.

leaf fall [autumn] :: with the shadows growing longer and the days getting cooler the amount of prey being caught is beginning to diminish. slowly predators start to show themselves more and more to try and catch whatever prey they can. each morning a light frozen dew sits upon the ground and plants. herbs are starting to become quite scarce as well as the flora around begins to wilt away with the growing cold that they're not used to. the days are quite sunny ,, though.
