- Mangopaw and Lynxpaw both learned fishing, but while the two were walking home with their mentors, a fox ambushed them, intent on stealing the fish they caught for its own. The fox was brutal, and both Mangopaw and Lynxpaw ended up with injuries. Lynxpaw's inexperience combined with exhaustion from hunting made him an easy target, and he ended up with a broken front right leg after it was swung around in the jaws of the fox. He will need two moons of rest, x1 dandelion, x1 chamomile, and x1 cobweb to recover. Mangopaw was able to defend herself from the fox, but still was bitten on the shoulder. She will need one moon of rest and x1 goldenrod to heal

snow lies in massive drifts over the territories. even the warmest areas feel the effects,
from frost killing vulnerable plants, to causing coughs to those who have experience too
much exposure. as prey and herbs have become scarce, there will also be fewer strangers
looking to explore the vast clan territories. queens may have a harder time kitting, so
medicine cats will need to be well-stocked and prepared for the following moons.

Joystick finally finds the confidence to talk to Mudcake about her extremely obvious dislike about herself- and she's immediately met with a snide comment about how she has to get her Tetris to come fight for her all the time. Joystick explains that if Mudcake is willing to drop the rude comments and side-glances, then she can train the newest member of the group, Metro. Mudcake thinks about it for a moment and agrees.

Joystick gathers the group for Metro's "Mario Kartship ceremony", as she's come to calling these things. Just as she names Mudcake as the cat who will be training him, the door to the arcade is pushed open and a white cat with reddish brown points walks in, seeming a little confused.

Kween asks the new cat for her name, to which she responds "Olivia". Joystick walks over and asks if she would like to join them, Olivia asks a few more questions before deciding that she would like to join the group, aware that she doesn't have to stay for any more than a few moons if she doesn't enjoy it.

Peanut watches Olivia with Cashew from the other side of the room, hidden by the cardboard box she's laying in. As Olivia approaches the group of neatly stacked boxes, Peanut gets up and greets her, welcoming her to the group and introducing her to Cashew. She asks if Olivia would like to go on a walk with her later, and she agrees.

- Thorn is worried about the stray dogs. Again, he takes a patrol to investigate, not intending on confronting and fighting any dogs if they encounter any.
- The clan happily celebrates the arrival of a litter of five! Tempestpaw, Aquapaw, Angelpaw and Creampaw are especially curious about their adoptive siblings, rushing to the nursery to check on them after training.
- Splotchsun is extremely worried about Birchclaw's injury. He reassures her and tells her to look on the bright side: he has to rest for a moon so he has ample time to spend with her and the kits!
- Windstone is happy to finally pass his scout assessment and join the rest of the cats around his age. Hawkflight is excited to go on patrols with her brothers.
- Sparklepaw is assigned Gingerdawn as a mentor. Both cats are equally apprehensive about their new roles, but hey, they can figure it out together.
- Flamesight is quite miffed that he is clanbound for a moon, which put his plans of taking the fighters test to a halt. Guess he'll just have to wait.

After a hissed conference between the Saltclan cats, and many assurances that Bosun meant no harm, the two led the twisted tabby down from the Pier and across the beach to camp. When a few days at camp passed without incident, Newstar agreed that Bosun would join the clan as a warrior. They leapt atop the hull, and as Bosun swore her fealty to Saltclan, they thought they saw a look of wistful memory in her eyes.

Sunstone was interested to see what Driftwood's normal range of movement was. No need to fix what's not broken after all. They navigated carefully over the dry fallen leaves on the riverbank. Driftwood seemed to do alright for the most part, though she needed to stop and rest every so often. From what she said, she had fallen in such a way that twisted her hips and they healed wrong, so it was difficult to put weight on her hindlegs.

Won't do you no good if you're just flailin' around. You gotta think." A chill breeze fluttered through the clearing at the roots of the Live Oak. Glassfang crouched, ready to spring. "Let's go again!"

The blind tom sniffed at the moss underpaw. It was dry, which was somewhat of a miracle with the
remains of the blizzard from three days ago still piling around the garden.

"It's not much now," Peonystem said, tail flicking lightly as he watched the wrinkled tomcat inspect
his new living quarters. "But Leos is kind and we have been able to keep the camp mostly clear. It
should remain warm enough for you not to worry."

Ragweedleaf snorted, tail curling slightly. "Don't worry about me, I've survived more cold snaps than
I look. Just because I don't have fur doesn't mean I don't have any tricks behind my fangs. It may
be a rougher winter this time around, but by the time the next one comes around, I'll have enough
in this den to keep a bear warm."

Peonystem nodded. "If there's anything else you need, simply let someone know. We are grateful
again, for your agreement to join. Your wisdom will surely be invaluable."

Ragweedleaf laughed, a harsh noise despite the tom's gentle temperament. "Kid, just tell me
when to show up and how long I have to talk and everything will be just fine."

"By Denas's blessing, I can confirm." Lotusseed said with a smile. "You're expecting."

Promisedrose's chest rumbled with a purr, long and loud.

"This is good news," Lotusseed continued. "Both for you and Dustystep, but for the Court as
a whole. You'll have an heir, for one, and so may some of we, if you have more than one.
And even if you don't, it will free us to pursue heirs from elsewhere, now that your first
litter will have been born and their titles granted."

"I know Peonystem has been encouraging you to step back for several moons now, and I
believe this will be excellent timing. I hereby place you on rest, promote Bumble,
Pollen, and Scallionsnarl, and then take your leave from duty. It will be early yes, but
you deserve the rest, and it will be good practice for you to work behind the scenes
instead of being directly involved."

"For me or the court?" Promisedrose asked, smiling slightly. She'd known from the start
that her role as the Crown Rose would pull her further and further from the day to day
of the Court, but for each moon that had passed with her guiding a patrol, she had
pushed it off just a bit longer.

"For everyone," Lotusseed said, giving Promisedrose a quick lick to the forehead. "Now,
I believe you should go tell a certain someone the good news. And take it easy, spirits
know he'll have my head if anything happens to you once he finds out."

Promisedrose laughed "Dusty wouldn't hurt a fly." she said, rising to her paws.

leaf-bare -- snow lies in massive drifts over the territories. even the warmest areas feel the effects, from frost killing vulnerable plants, to causing coughs to those who have experienced too much exposure. as prey and herbs have become scarce, there will also be fewer strangers looking to explore the vast clan territories. queens may have a harder time kitting, so medicine cats will need to be well-stocked and prepared for the following moons.
