Gorsebird lets out a thin wail, shoving her way past Mossycreek and Petalbound. The long-haired deputy collapsed and buried her muzzle in her father's patched tabby pelt. Icefang lingered off to the side, his claws sheathing and unsheathing being the only signs of emotion that the tom was giving off. Goosepaw slunk up next to his mentor, his unsettling gaze resting on the grieving Gorsebird. "Aren't you going to join her?" The apprentice questioned.
Icefang blinked his ice blue eyes at the silver tabby. "Not right now... Gorsebird was always closer to him, she needs to grieve on her own for a bit."
"You said that same thing when Bayfur died." Icefang glared down at Goosepaw after his comment was made. The silver tabby tom shrank back slightly and dropped his gaze to his paws. "I'm sorry." He muttered.
Gorsebird looked up at Mossvine settled next to her, leaning into her flank. The new deputy leaned thankfully against her grandmother, twining her tail with hers as Wildpoppy settled on the other side of Mossvine, burying her muzzle in her brother's flank. "Stagstep is with Bayfur in Starclan." Mossvine whispered sadly, rasping her tongue across Gorsebird's ears. The seal-point she-cat nodded and closed her eyes, returning her muzzle to Stagstep's shoulder.

Brindlecloud watched the grieving family from the entrance to her den for a few moments before retreating inside, her tail twitching irritably as she tore clumps of moss from where she stored it. The dilute calico muttered to herself as she dipped the moss into a small pool of water. "Brindlecloud." Crowcloud mewed, watching his mentor worriedly.
"What is it, Ramhorn?"
"It's Crowcloud." The black tom mewed. Brindlecloud looked up and blinked a few times, realizing that she had mistaken her apprentice for her old mentor.
"Oh... yes, of course." Brindlecloud grumbled before setting the wet moss ball next to Koipaw, who had come to the medicine cat den earlier in the day for an upset stomach.
"Brindlecloud, are you alright?"
"Yes, Crowcloud. I'm doing fine. Can you just go and make sure everyone's wounds are alright?" Brindlecloud ordered. Crowcloud hesitated but nodded with a sigh, turning and ducking out of the medicine cat den. Brindlecloud watched after him before retreating to her own nest at the back of the den, curling up inside it.
If I hadn't had kits, I would've been able to save Squirrelstar. Then maybe none of this would've happened... It's all my fault.

"Squirrelkit, be careful!" Bramblingflight shrieked, rearing up on her hind legs to try and pluck the tiny ginger and white she-kit from the roof of the nursery. Squirrelkit giggled loudly and scrambled further back on the roof. "Squirrelkit!" The dark brown, ginger and white queen called. Appleheart looked up from where he was sharing a mouse with Mossvine, his whiskers twitching in amusement.
"She's gonna be a fiery one once she gets older." The ginger tom commented. Bramblingflight cast the tom an embarrassed look. "Squirrelstar definitely would've loved her." The senior warrior returned his attention to his food, leaving Bramblingflight to watch him with a stunned look before trying to corral her kit off the roof of the nursery again.
Sandshell watched the other kits that were playing in the clearing from the entrance of the warriors den, her gaze focused mainly on Mousekit. The sandy colored she-cat got to her paws and hurried over to Cloudwatcher as she left the nursery. "I think you need to take Mousekit to see Brindlecloud."
Cloudwatcher's yellow gaze widened in fear and she whirled around to look for the white kit. "Why?! Did he get hurt?" She mewed nervously.
Sandshell shook her head. "I don't think he's hurt but I think Mousekit might be deaf... He acts the same way Birdsong did." She mewed nervously. "Whenever someone would talk to her from far away, she would just stare at them and wouldn't do what they wanted her to do. Mousekit is doing the same thing."
