he could hear the rustle of cats outside. kits were playing,
apprentices joking and warriors discussing the recent cold snap.
he closed his eyes tightly and tried to recall his dream. stingclaw
had told him every dream a medicine cat received could be a message
from starclan. a message from the stars themselves. he flinched when
he remembered it.

a starry cat approached the him on the hill, and looked down on him.

medicine cat, but we sense so much strength. so much
potential. but, we fear.
as much as there is potential for good, there is potential for
evil, for darkness. this is why we want to test you.
we will send you three trials to complete. these trials will
help you on the journey to good. succeeded, and you will
surely become a great medicine cat."
the cat, who could be nothing less than someone from starclan,
reached out to touch emberpaw. this is when snapped awake.
