The mist was thick and blinding, obscuring the silver tabby's view. It was only his faith in the cats in his dreams that was spurring him on through it all. The translucent cat-spirits had called themselves the Tribe of Endless Hunting, and they had begged him - a rogue - to revive their tribe. And while he had been skeptical at first, he decided he would do it. He had nothing to lose - and the night before he entered the mists? His mother, who had been killed by wolves when he was much younger, had come to him, and told him to listen to them.. and that she would be with him always.

Flash, a silver mackerel tabby tom, had been born a rogue, to two of the brave cats who dared to roam the slopes of the Cascades. He had known a life of living on his own in a world where rain and snow were the only indication of a change in seasons. But he had made it.

And then he had been promised a haven from the predators. He took it.

(The day before)
The mist began to thin as Flash trudged on. It had been days of traveling through the thick mists that surrounded the mountain. Or had it been weeks? He wasn't sure, he couldn't keep track. But it was finally beginning to lift.

And by the time the silver tabby reached a clearing with many fallen logs and large bushes that could shelter many cats underneath, the mist had all but faded... at least only in the area. All around this clearing he could see the white wisps of mist clinging onto everything it touched. 'Strange,' he thought, 'did they really mean it when they said the mists were going to protect us?'

<That night>
Flash had discovered a small pool sheltered by a small grove of trees earlier, and had settled down by its edge, having made for himself a nest of twigs and leaves. He soon fell fast asleep, exhausted by his journey, no doubt.

Flash opened his eyes to a moonlit clearing, where he had fallen asleep just a moment before. The pool's shores (if one could call it that) were filled with the translucent shapes of cats. One of them he recognized as the one who had spoken to him while he was on his journey, and it was he who greeted Flash.

"You did well to find here," the cat-spirit purred, "and we, of the Tribe of Endless Hunting, must thank you properly for your willingness to continue the legacy of the proud tribe that once roamed these lands. Step forward, Flash, and we will perform the ceremony to name you the new Tribe-Healer of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist."

Flash did as told, stepping forward until he stood right in front of the cat-spirit.

The pale-furred tom intoned solemnly, "From this moment on, you will be known as the Teller of the Skipping Stones. Others will come after you, moon upon moon upon moon. Choose them well, train them well, and trust the future of your Tribe to them."

A shudder passed through the silver tabby's body as he heard those words. His name was no longer Flash, but the Teller of the Skipping Stones. He was no longer a rogue, but the leader amd healer of a tribe.

He promised firmly, "I will not fail you."

(Now)
The Teller of the Skipping Stones, or Stoneskipper for short, awoke with a jolt from his sleep. Blinking his eyes to adjust to the light of day, the silver tabby tom realized today was his first day of being the Tribe-Healer of his new tribe.

'Better get started,' he thought as he made his way back to the clearing he decided would be camp for his tribe, 'making this place look more hospitable for others who will come will be important.'

Pyobeom had heard stories of the legendary leopard cats of old who had lived on the mountains he called home from his parents, who had heard from their parents, and so on. He also had heard from his parents of the tribe that had once lived around these parts. Those cats claimed that they had descended from the leopard cats. Pyobeom always had assumed that this was true. He had wanted to believe that there was a life after death, of spirits who imparted to the living their wisdom.

And for his belief, he was rewarded. The spirits had come to him, and he was given the stewardship of that tribe, known as the Tribe of Singing Breezes.

He would make his ancestors proud. He would make the leopard cats proud.

summer -- currently, it's summer! the tribe cats will continue to be lucky in hunting, patrolling and nursery-related tasks. however, the sun will cause the tribe cat's exhaustion to go up faster so it'd be a good idea to be careful how often a cat goes on a patrol. rogue groups and predators are more likely to come onto your territory and attack your tribe, which also makes it harder to find new cats.

Tribe of Snowy Peaks

TERRITORY Located in the far north, this Tribe lived in an almost uninhabitable area. They live in a cave that was located next to a full hot springs. The springs kept the cave itself quiet habitable, with a shallow river running through the middle of it. The springs themselves circled around three quarters of the cave itself, making it a lovely place to live and soak for the cats that inhabit this stars-forsaken land.

THREATS Polar Bears, though very rare, are the biggest issue in this land. They are rather plentiful and co-exist with the cats rather easily, often the bears will leave part of their own prey for the cats to scavenge from. Other then that, the cats basically avoid any other large mammals in the area. Seals, Walruses, Whales in all varieties also inhabit the area, but they stay close to the water's edge, where the cats rarely go. Sea Lions will prey on the cats if it can catch one, but that rarely happens. Small foxes are the most common threat, but the cats can generally take care of them rather easily.

PREY Most often small weasels are what are eaten, with the rare fish or arctic bird mixed in. Mice, though not plentiful, are a prey item often gotten, as well as "Bear Leftovers".

COMMON COAT COLORS Mostly white and shades of grey, sometimes mottled with pale colors or striped with dark shadows.

LORE The story of the origin of this tribe is that they are descdent from the huge arctic cats that used to inhabit this land, large saber-toothed cats and heavy set beasts that made even the bears that lived here look small. The Tribe has supposedly lived in the same places for generations beyond remembering, always led by a kit of the previous leader, always a female kit.

TEMPERAMENT They are outright feral towards any unfamiliar cats, and wary of any that wish to join. They value power and intelligence over everything, knowing that only the strong and smart can live in this harsh climate.

RELIGION They pray to the Tribe of Endless Snow, and fear those that are in the Tribe of Crushing Ice. When a cat dies, they are taken to the peak of the mountain at Moon High, at the base of which their clan camp sits, and placed into an icy crevasse. No one knows where it leads, and none want to find out. At the rise of the next sun they return to the peak to see if the cat's body is still there. If the body is still there then they know that they are meant to go to the Tribe of Crushing Ice, in which case the body is taken to a muddy stream near the base of the mountain, a stream that never froze, and left there to be swept away for who knows where. If the body was no longer there, then they knew that the cat was taken to the Tribe of Endless Snow. Then, their name is inscribed on a cave wall as to which tribe they joined.

summer days always pass faster than the blink of an eye; one moment your basking in its warmth, and the next the leaves on the trees are shifting into an array of colors, a chill whistling through the air. days had passed since the execution, since crow’s death.

snake had grasped a firm hold on the tribe of burned claws since the siblings’ failed attempt of an assasination on their shaman. his guard, fog, had a gaze of steel on any cat, and his order on the cavalry was stricter than ever before. many hushed tones whispered between one another of the strange rules he’d incited. one, which he announced to the tribe one evening, was a curfew for all cats to be in their nests at sundown, no later, unless there were to be a scheduled night-patrol. this caused unease with quite a few of the soldiers, who found it to be an obstruction of their basic rights as individuals, but the shaman was quick to put them back in their place. he had to remind him just how powerful he was and how weak they were to him.

furthermore, after dove’s betrayal, snake immediately denounced her to the rank of a weakling, one equivalent of a prisoner. he also rid of her as his mate, and to replace her was the attractive calico she-cat, flicker. the tom was already in cahoots with the feline, and it didn’t take much if any convincing at all to woo her as his mate. many began to question already if she would bear his kits, but the pair quickly reassured the tribe such an event wouldn’t take place anytime soon.

members of disbanded tribes also poured in from neighboring territories, others from lands far away which the cats of the city never dreamt of before. sky, a sleek and lithe cat with a pelt resembling that of cousins to the domestic breed, was from a tribe far from that of the chilean city the tribe of burned claws took refuge in. the complicated journey which the she-cat described was a tale worth turning an ear to, and so many cats joined the soldier for meals to hear her words. even snake, though kept to himself during meals, would place himself near enough to hear her story, an attentive ear always facing her direction. his interest in her was uncalled for, and this stirred a jealousy in his new mate, flicker. she was quick to fix him right since then, and snake was never spotted near the bengal she-cat during meals from then-on.

after all of the events of the past moon, these summer days seemed much more at peace. all was well in the tribe, at least for now.

Two more cats had found their way onto the Isle of the Withered Fangs. The older, was a sandy female who had no voice. Despite being mute, she was able to make her points quite clearly, and Treasureteller gave her the name Fire on the Sand (Sandflame for short). The younger one was still of the training age, but had plenty of energy. His name became Howl of Wolves from Afar, or Wolfhowl. Treasureteller gave him to Blacknight to train, thinking that the older Moonclaw's calmness and sense of duty would rub off on Wolfhowl.

That or Wolfhowl's energy would rub of on Blacknight, either way it was a win.

Wavecrash and Stormshaker were still getting along like sisters, which Treasureteller appreciated. Blacknight stayed determined to protect Treasureteller at all times, which he appreciated a little less, but thought was at least thoughtful.

As Treasureteller thought about the prayer that he was ready to give the spirits, he wondered if he should ask for a Nestkeeper. But...no...he wanted the first born-generation of nestlings to be pure Withered-borne.

Finally, Treasureteller decided that he would save his prayer, for later. Later, when he needed someone. For now, the Withered were doing excellently.

Mistakes I've noticed: Ice is a tom, Fire is a She-cat

I'm a Starcatcher~ (last moon)
The first battle, where's Marigold? Fire had landed quite a big blow on Ice's cheek, neither would talk so she had no idea what happened. Maybe she get a to-be soon. She knew what she'd ask her ancestors. Oh, Starcatcher was letting herself get distracted. Now, where's marigold? She swore she brang it with her when she decided to make a home here. "Starcatcher?" A voice made her jump, oh, Shadow, perhaps this long-furred cat could help her. "Shadow, can you find marigold for me?" "Uh, I guess, what does it look like?" "Oh, just a green plant with yellow flowers, I just can't find it right now." "Found it!" Starcatcher looked over and sure enough, the long-furred she-cat was holding the plant she was looking for. "Thanks Shadow, anything I can do for you?" Shadow flicked her tail.

"Well, I know what happened to those two." Starcatcher blinked, "I'm listening." "Fire was chatting to me about our kits and-" Oh, that's right, Shadow is pregnant, she completely forgot! "-Ice came over and thought that our kits might become mates and stuff, I agreed that it was a great idea, I mean, more cats the merrier!" The grey tabby nodded, "how about we bring this conversation over to Ice? I wouldn't want to leave him waiting."

I'm a Starcatcher~ (this moon)
Ice and Fire were talking again, that was nice, she had found a kit on patrol and the other patrol found a pregnant she-cat, they didn't seem to be related but the kit-mother, Sky Spotted with Clouds, was happy to take the kit, Rabbit Running from Clouds of Ash under her wing. Her clan was starting to get hungry, but there was plenty of prey, she decided the clan can eat the first piece of prey this moon. "Everyone! Gather!" She called. Her voice echoed around the caves and cats curiously poked their heads out, she decided to count them all. Fire and Ice, the cats that were found so close in time, Running River, a loyal tom along with his mate Shadow, who was found with Cloud and in the same moon came Branch who finally got along with someone, even if they hadn't been as loyal as most of us, Leopard that Stalks. She couldn't forget about the two new cats, Sky and Ash and the cat she called for, Daylight. That made ten cats, but she hadn't counted herself. Eleven, ten cats I need to care for and myself. I love my tribe and everyone dearly. "It's time for our first prey, Fire and Ice, will you do the honors and bring us the prey?" The cats were gathered now, Fire and Ice heading for the prey pile.

When they came back they were holding a rabbit, big enough for the entire tribe to share. "I'll take the first bite." Starcatcher announced, stepping forward, she didn't realise how hungry she was but made sure to only eat her share. "Now for the kit-mothers, Sky, you're the newest, take a bite." Sky slowly padded over and took her share, this went on until there was one cat that was left. (Two if you count Ash but he can't eat solid food yet.) Leopard that Stalks. "Do you know why you're last?" Leopard that Stalks shook his head. "You haven't been loyal to your tribe, Ice would've caught more for us if you hadn't been so... Mouse-brained. I don't want your lazy blood in our kits, don't even try with Wind until you turn your behavior around!" Leopard that Stalks opened his eyes wide. "You will not have your share this moon, go to your den." She snapped. Leopard's share was still there. "Cloud?" She called. She had a crush on Cloud, she knew she couldn't have favourites but he was so beautiful. She saw the multi-coloured but mostly grey head and she purred at the sight of his green eyes.

"Yes, Starcatcher?" He mewed, trotting over. "Go ahead and have Leopard that Stalks' share, I decided he wasn't allowed to have his share this moon, then come to my den, I want to tell you something." Her den was nothing fancy, just a small cave fit for two cats at max, decorated with flowers and pretty leaves she's found on patrols. Starcatcher saw Cloud's friendly face poke inside and his eyes widened. "Woah, your den is beautiful!" He exclaimed. Here I go... "You'd know what beautiful is, Cloud." Starcatcher mewed softly. "Huh?" "I'm saying you're beautiful, mouse-brain!" Cloud laughed. "Well, uh, thank you." He sat near the hole in the cave, sunlight dancing on his fur. She drew closer. "Especially now, Cloud." Cloud blinked and tilted his head, Starcatcher didn't want to explain. "Ever since you set paw in this tribe I knew you were loyal, you tried to make Branch see that, you're brave and beautiful and..." "I love you." They said in unison. They blinked, a little surprised and they both laughed. Cloud smiled. "If I'm right about what you were gonna say then, yes, I would like to be your mate." They snuggled closer to each other, they shared the den for the night.

Suddenly, Ice ran in, awakening them. "Fire is giving birth!" "Wait, what?" Cloud mewed. "Quickly I need to go, I'll meet you there, sorry love, this is important." "Oh, okay."

Daisy Leaf | Chewed into a paste. Eases the pain of aching joints. It is also a traveling herb.
Fennel | Stalks are broken and juice is squeezed into the receiver's mouth. Helps pain in the hips.
Deathberries | Sometimes used to kill other cats by making them eat the berry. Kills a cat within minutes when consumed.
Ragwort Leaves | Crushed and chewed; mixed with juniper berries, it can help aching joints. Treats aching joints and keeps a cat's strength up. (2)
Goldenrod | Chewed into a poultice. Good for healing wounds.
Water Hemlock | Unknown usage. Causes writhing, pain, and foaming at the mouth.

Sheer plodded along the well-worn trails of the territory, the little calico molly trotting after him. The large black tom was showing her the territory, as was his duty as her mentor. He showed her the best places to see the territory, the singing creek and even the rocky outcrop where cats mourned the fallen. She listened politely, but Sheer could see her bouncing up and down in excitement.
He had been shocked when Creeksinger chose him to mentor Maple, as Cyclone would have probably been the best pick, given her age, but the healer molly had chosen him. He still didn't quite understand it, but he was pleased nonetheless.
