Next Birth: Flicker (now!!)

Flicker layed in the sunny patch that was covering the camp. The trees swayed in the gentle breeze and the sound of birds chirping soothes the female. She looked at her plump stomach, smiling. She was going to be a mother. She glanced up to see Aaron. Her love. Sighing, she ran her tongue over her belly. “Just you wait, little one,” She soothed “You’ll be born in the best ungulate that has ever existed. You will be loved and cared for. And I won’t let anything happen to you. I already love you.” She closed her eyes and drifted off into sleep.
When she woke up, it was dusk. No one was around camp. ‘They must have let me rest up.’ She thought to herself. She stood up, only to be pulled down by a huge wave of pain. She let out a squeal, eyes widening. “The foal! It’s coming!”

In the middle of a vast desert, water and food are rare to find. But, on a lucky find, there appeared a perfect oasis over the crest of a mountainous dune. Below laid a river that fed into a huge lake, grasses and trees lining its edge. This was a dream come true to a starving someone, of whom looked to settle down for themselves. Later, they would realize that living among this perfect oasis would be more of a hassle than imagined. Laying their claim among the land, the founder will now have to protect this sacred place from the many dangers that it will face...
THE OASIS
( the northern bank ) : This is the right side of the river, or rather the northern bank. This side of the river is more dense with grasses and bushes, less with trees and thick hedges; x
( the southern bank ) : This is the left side of the river, or rather the southern bank. This side of the river is more scattered, but the space is filled up with hedges and palm trees, providing shade and plenty of shelter; x
( the lake ) : This is the farthest end of the territory, reaching the end of the long banks of the river. The water pools up here and provides plenty of it. Around this area, vegetation becomes denser and the grasses span out away from it, creating a small field of yellow grasses and hedges; x X
( the pool of stars ) : Off of the lake, a smaller amount of the water streams out and pools into a small dip of the earth, appearing tiny yet deep enough to fall into. Every new moon, when the sky is void of the moon's image and the stars appear brighter than ever, the Chief will travel to the pool of stars and speak with the ancestors, taking a sip from its waters in order to open their session. The Chief can ask for new members, or even assistance when times are rough. They keep their speakings with the ancestors private unless it is important, and many say that the Chief will look into their reflection of the pool and see the ancestor's images around them.
THE RANKS
chief = leader
commander = deputy
shaman = healer
shaman's second = shaman in training
providers = scouts
protectors = guards
seconds = yearlings, trainees
dames
foals
the retired = retired providers/protectors
CREATURES OF THE OASISSpecies found here include the following: mustangs (equipped for the desert), feral donkeys, and occasionally camels. Most common species are donkeys, but mustangs and camels are just as prevalent as well. Donkeys are seen as fearless protectors and hardy survivors, but mustangs are seem as a beautiful treasure of the desert. Camels are seen as outcasts, but welcomed anyway.TEMPERAMENT AND REPUTATIONThe Protectors of the Oasis, or rather "protectors", as many like to call them, are loyal and extremely attached to their ungulate and the creatures within it. All of the members share a special bond and there is no splitting them apart, unless one breaks the trust of the ungulate in its entirety. The Protectors will do anything to protect themselves, and especially the land they live on. Ever since birth, ungulate-born foals are taught to always feel as if other groups, or even rogues, are only there to take their precious land. From then, they will be taught to learn everything in their best power to protect the land and keep any others from stealing its greatness. This is very true, considering many thirst for its rich banks and cool waters, but also proves as a downside. They have much trouble getting along with other groups, whether peaceful or not, and are very defensive about it. However, the other groups that know of their existence seem to get why they are so determined to protect the land, and that is because they would do the same exact thing if they had their hooves on such a beautiful and enriching land of the oasis...

Jaeger had been expecting to come across the dame he'd requested on the way back to camp. When that didn't happen, he searched the camp thoroughly but again didn't find her. Finally, as night was starting to fall, he sighed, and trotted to where he would be sleeping, praying she would arrive soon.
Jaeger woke in the middle of the night to the sound of a delighted whinny. Whirling around, he saw a pale silver horse with dark legs and a dark mane and a very, very swollen middle, standing in front of him. "Forgive me for taking so long." the she-horse said "But it's not easy to move very fast in my condition."

The doe's round ears swiveled wildly, and her eyes widened as Balsamine and Thistle emerged from the shadows. 'Please!" she cried, struggling further and causing dark red gashes to spread across her leg "Leave me alone!"
"Shhhhh." Balsamine said, as soothingly as she possibly could "It's alright, we belong to the Ungulate of the Forest, we mean you no harm." Thistle stepped carefully up to the other deer and lowered his head. Using his small size to his advantage, he carefully bit down on a thornless part of branch and pulled it away from the doe's leg.
The doe was breathing heavily, but she stood still as Balsamine joined Thistle in pulling away the thorns. "try it now." Balsmaine said. Well, it came out more like 'try ih noh' but the doe got the point. Carefully, delicately, the doe pulled out her red-stained leg, and half stepped half hopped backwards. Letting go of the branches, Balsamine said to Thistle "When we get back to the camp, tell Rowan he needs to come and pull these away. He's the only one with horns at the moment." Thistle nodded. Satisfied, Balsamine turned to the doe. "So, what's your name young one?" "I am Purple Heather." she replied, brown eyes glued on Thistle "Thank you, for saving me. I'd like to repay you."
"There's no-" Thistle began, but Balsmine interrupted "Why don't you come back with us? I'm sure Rowan would appreciate another set of hooves." Purple Heather nodded eagerly "Oh yes, I can go with you!" she started to take a step forwards with her injured leg, and nearly collapsed. Thistle darted forwards to try and support her, and Balsamine was right behind him. "Thistle, why don't you go and grab Chrysanthemum, tell her to bring something for bleeding."
this moon
Purple Heather's leg had healed up quite nicely in her moon with the Forestkeepers. She'd proven herself fast and agile, and had become a scout alongside Balsamine. She'd shown an unusual attachment to Thistle, but other than that everything seemed to be normal.
The camp expansion had gone quite well, and Rowan was pleased with how the ungulate was growing. He did have to go out and clear some thorn patches though, one of the downsides of being the only member in the ungulate with horns. He didn't mind though, it felt good to do something for the forest.

It's been centuries since the legendary buck, Qamar, was seen by any. But some say his presence may still linger... The ungulate had always worshiped a god-like buck, by the name of Qamar. They speak of his power to control the sun and the moon, and his ability to sense the feelings of others. It is said that Qamar had a strange white coat, with smoldering red eyes. Though he is not seen nowadays, claims have been spread along the ungulate that if you're quiet and your concentration is focused, you may hear the twinkling footsteps of him.
The Ruins of Qamar live a closed off meadow area, surrounded by several large hills, a nearby forest, and a large pond not far from the camp. Flowers bloom happily there, sometimes munched on by younglings. Yet in the dead center of the camp, there lays a mossy, large stone with vines drooping down from it. Touching it is strictly forbidden, and represents the soul of Qamar.
Species of the ungulate consist of horse and deer, but as a whole, those are the most common. Almost any species may stumble across and be offered to join Ruins of Qamar, but the listed ones are definitely the most seen out of any hooved species. Several hooved species have never been seen but heard about in the ungulate, including giraffes, but there may always be a chance that one may stumble across it.
May I request this as my leader? <3

weather. the sun shines at a nearly constant rate, heating the pelts of the animals that graze. water is still abundant, especially in rivers and lakes, though streams are beginning to shrink, threatening to dry up soon if the heat persists. grass is beginning to dry out, though is still enough to provide nourishment for the ungulates. rogue groups, humans, and predators are more abundant, so watch out !!

It's been centuries since the legendary buck, Qamar, was seen by any. But some say his presence may still linger...Member Count: 1 | Males: 1 | Females: 0 | Ancestral Visit Due: Now Apollo was just barely ready for his duty as Leader for the ungulate known as Ruins of Qamar. Qamar was the god that was treated with heavy respect, the buck that held more power than thousands of hooved animals ever would. He was said to watch over the deeds of all, especially the ones who walked along the territory of the Ruins. As much as he trembled, and as much fear that sparked inside him, Apollo was determined to make the Ruins of Qamar a flourishing and gorgeous ungulate. Apollo was up for the task.
Gentle rays of sun reached Apollo's coat, and tinted it a rosy orange colour, a colour a bit duller than the wildflowers that grew around the Ruins. Trotting around curiously, Apollo pondered about what he'd do. How he'd make his ungulate grow, and eventually become a colony of hooved animals working together in serene harmony. A task that he had to behold.
Apollo came to a sudden halt, an idea popping in his head. He took one last glance of the bare camp, and trotted off.

"Aloe!"
The sound of shouting caught the attention of the small group of scouts. Purple Heather's disc-shaped ears swiveled, and Balsamine's pricked forwards. "It's this way!" Thistle shouted, taking off. "Thistle!" Balsamine shouted, shooting after her Yearling "Wait!" Purple Heather was right behind the white and brown pony.
Before long, they found the source of the noise. A young Roe Deer, about 8 seasons old, was using his small horns to brush away thorns and bracken, all while shouting "Aloe!"
Balsamine let out a sharp whinny, and the deer whirled around, staring at them. Before they could say anything however he blurted "My daughter, you have to help me find her!"
this moon
There was still no sign of Aloe. Balsamine, Purple Heather, Thistle, and the Roe Deer, whose name was Lettuce, had searched that part of the forest until dusk. Finally they'd returned to camp, and Balsamine and Lettuce had explained everything. Rowan had promised Lettuce that they would fine Aloe, and had set up search parties for the following day.
"Balsamine, I'll be taking Thistle out today." Rowan said, approaching the small group that was about to head out. "He is about to be twelve moons old, and will be earning his place as a full scout. Before that can happen, he must learn the Path of the Forest." Balsamine dipped her head "Of course."

[ jaeger, at jetta's insistence, looks for her mate and the sire to her foal(s). ]
[ briar patrols the borders, looking for, especially, a healer, for jetta is expecting soon. ]
Jaeger was currently standing at the crest of a hill, releasing loud neigh's into the wind. It would do two things for him. It would announce to others that there were horses living here, and it would also get the attention of Jetta's mate.
Once he was done, the stallion went into a gallop and began to patrol the borders. As he ran, he sent a quick prayer to the stars that the other stallion had heard his call.
The first horse he found, was not Jetta's mate, but a young pale yellow horse who couldn't be older than seven or eight moons. The young white maned horse had said that they were 'running away to join the wild horses' and asked if Jaeger would let them join the ungulate.
[ Jaeger found Jetta's mate, a Paso Fino Scout ]
[ He also found a Halflinger Yearling ]
[ Briar found a Gypsy Vanner Healer, who brings five herbs with them ]
