The sun raged high in the afternoon sky, it's harsh rays burning the sand beneath Callista's paws. Gazing behind her, she took one last look at the village she had stumbled upon a few moons prior before continuing on her journey. She had been hiding out in the adobe houses for a few nights and only slipped out of them for one reason; to eat. Being so small and on her own, it was difficult to not be fearful in the wild, on her own. To keep herself alive, she only allowed herself these moments to enjoy the sunshine and explore.

Callista carefully trekked through the desert dunes, kicking up sand and dust as she went; she loathed the aftercare, where the coarse specks would coat her tongue. There was an oasis nearby that she had visited many times over, and would continue to visit, to fill her belly with cool water before she began her hunt. As she dipped her nose down to the water to lap up a drink, she whispered to her reflection. "Please, bring me a companion. Anyone."

The rest of the day was spent stalking animals in the sand. Any lizard or bird that showed itself to her, she would attempt to catch. When she grew tired, she would return to her village where she would rest until eveningfall. When the sun began it's descent and the temperature dropped, she would patrol the borders before slipping away into her shelter, where she would rest until it was safe again.

Swaying Leaves
Number of Cats: 1: 1 Female; 0 Males

A young ocelot snaked through the rainforest under the darkening skies, her ears pricked in wonder as the waves on the beaches nearby crashed faintly and the river was also crashing against it's banks after the rainfall. The river was thankfully not too deep to travel across by the stepping stones, so she crossed to stay the night in the large branches of the trees. She playfully jumped across, her paws barely touching the rocks as if she was gliding. Parrots chattered around her loudly, especially in the tree that she was planning to climb. Furiously her ears flattened and she let out a loud caw. "Purrr-Paw!" she yelled, causing rainbow feathers to rain down from the tree as parrots vainly scrabbled in preparation to flight. "Stupid birds." she laughed, her gaze suddenly drawn to the skies as birds covered the Moon, full and high in the sky."The ancestors are watching. This calls for an Doctor to heal. Naturalists, hear my cry!"

The Sun was rising as Valerie woke up, and at once she squinted in displeasure as the golden beams disturbed the creatures of the night like her. Bouncing up from her branch the young ocelot stretched in anticipation. The rainforest's shade will be enough to keep me hidden, she thought to herself as she sprinted across the stepping stones.

usually leads hunting patrols and commands the hunters.

↪ hunters/huntresses these cats hunt for the dowt

In a single day, Callista's family had grown from one to four. During her night patrol, she had stumbled upon a tightly curled ball of fur; a little lynx cub that had somehow found its way to her shelter. Her heart fell into her stomach at the sight of the poor little thing. It's tongue lolled out the side of it's mouth and she could see his body heaving, struggling to intake air. Gently she nudged him, feeling the heat radiating off his thick pelt. Though she had no medical knowledge, even she understood what was happening. Quickly, she picked him up in her mouth, padding up to the abandoned house she called her den. The air was humid and warm, but as the moon rose above the desert, the temperature would drop. It would help, but he was only a cub and weak - the fluxuating temperatures would do him no good. She would spend the night with him and help him as best she could.

Callista had only just settled in with the cub when she heard it. The gentle whispering of a stranger. With ears perked, she listened carefully, barely able to make out the conversation carried between two unknown visitors.

"We should settle here," one of them spoke. The second voice answered, those her words were slow, spoken inbetween labored breaths. "No. This place belongs to another - I can smell it," she huffed, the voices drawing closer as they continued on. "Rhea, you can't go any further," the masculine one pleaded, worry filling his words. "I said no, Alek. They won't be safe."

Gazing down at the cub that was nestled against her side, Callista paused for a moment before she stood, pacing over to the entrance of her den. She placed her paws against the clay wall, pulling herself up onto the open window so she could get a better look at whoever had found her home. The sight was quite terrifying; something she had been dreading. A cheetah and leopard were sat on one of the staircases, the former laying sprawled out across one of the steps. Her slender frame accentuated the full belly she carried and Callista understood immediately. Glancing back at the cub, she felt like she knew what she had to do. She couldn't leave a pregnant she-cat in the desert heat and perhaps she could care for the little one as well. And the leopard looked rather strong.

"You can stay," she announced, sitting atop the window-sill. Her words grabbed the attention of the two strangers who looked at her in surprise before sharing a look among themselves. They said nothing, though she could see the conversation that played out between them. Moments passed before they both stood, the tom helping the pregnant she-cat up the stairs and into the house.

"Thank you," he spoke gently, giving his friend a soft bump against her cheek. "My name is Alekos and this is Rhea." He glanced at her expectantly, but she seemed distracted. Indeed, she was staring at the cub with a mix of emotions. Perhaps it was her motherly affection that was beginning to kick in.

"What's wrong with him?" She questioned, carefully approaching him. Callista frowned, explaining everything that had transpired in the past hour, and what she believed was happening. "I'll look after him," Rhea announced, settling herself beside the little one. Not only for the night, she understood, but for as long as he survived.

While the two rested, Callista turned to face Alekos. "She'll be safe here - I'll do everything I can to help her in her birthing. But I must ask you for your help in turn. We need food. Can you hunt?" He nodded, giving his friend one last worrying glance before disappearing into the dunes to find them something to eat in the coming days.

Callista approached the two quietly, attempting not to disrupt them. The outcome of both cats would come in the morning, but she would do everything she could to help them along. Gingerly, she set down a piece of honeycomb and a pawful of juniper berries. They wouldn't do much, but perhaps they could help calm them.

weather: during spring, birthings will go smoother than any other season. however, due to the snow from winter melting, your dowt will be at a high risk of flooding. prey seems to be coming out of their holes, as well as possible new dowt members.

[ while on patrol, valerie discovers a possible agent. however, they seem to be rather reluculant about joining valerie's dowt, and need more
time to think about it. if she goes on patrol next post, then there will be a chance of them joining, however,
there will also be a chance that they decide against it. ]

Swaying Leaves

"Elwood?" Valerie echoed the tom who was now sniffing the island for herbs. "Yeah." he replied, suddenly jumping up a tree as if he was hiding from the slight floodwaters. There he sniffed the leaves, plucked one off and sniffed that too, before tossing it into the eager river lapping hungrily at the island. "What are you doing?" Valerie asked, aware of how short her question had been registered in his mind. Elwood was far too obsessed with the herbs around him to notice her. "Herb hunting. Unless you don't want your injuries to be healed, that's fine. I will leave like the loner and-" Valerie butted in. "Well I shall actually do things, unlike you chasing the butterflies." Elwood hastily turned round, nearly topping off,as a butterfly soared past his nose. "Go play with your flower collection!" Valerie teased, jumping across the stepping stones hastily to avoid the lapping waters if she was too slow. Elwood shook his head, carefully picking up a leaf and jumping down the tree to get some water from the river in order to water his herbs. Although he seemed so gentle his mind was working swiftly, and he thoughtfully gazed at a bee's nest.
