Adair's tail wagged happily as she gnawed on the squirrel she had caught earlier. The black, silver and white marbled vixen swallowed her mouthful before hopping to her paws, quickly cleaning off her maw and picking her way down the rock pile that she decided she would use for her ceremonies. Half way down the rock pile was a crevice that led into a small yet comfy cave that Adair claimed as her den.

She looked around the clearing, her chest swelling in pride at the thought of this place one day being filled with other foxes. "If I want this place to flourish, I will need more friends." Adair chirped to herself. She held her chin high as she exited her camp, her bushy tail kinked over her back.

When she was making her journey there, Adair had run into an old fox that talked about a place where you could speak with the stars. The old tod even had the courtesy to show Adair how to get there. It took a while but Adair finally arrived at her destination. With a determined nod, Adair settled down to speak with the stars.

Daisy, a quite small red fox, was walking around. Exploring like she always did,as she watched a pair of squirrels scuttle up a tree trunk, she felt a stab of loneliness. But Daisy knew what she needed to do, after all she had heard many stories from other foxes, saying that there is a place where you can talk to the stars. Although Daisy did not know where to find this places she decided to trust her instincts, as they commonly lead her to where she needs to go.
After walking for some time, Daisy stumbled upon a cave, without thinking she stepped inside feeling the damp cool air on her fur. As she walked along the dark tunnel, there was soon light, not much but enough for Diasy to see. At that moment Daisy knew this place was what she was looking for, so she sat done and closed her eyes awaiting her talk with the stars.

Song never dreamed that she'd be chosen. That she would be put in charge of creating and sustaining an entire group of foxes. Yet, here she was, in the thin wood where she felt in her heart her skulk would live. No, live wasn't right. They would thrive! Song sat, her fluffy tail laid delicately over her small paws. Taking a deep breath she lifted her head, eyes closed, and listened to the sounds around her. A river ran to the south, birds sang from every tree and the thin wood rustled as the breeze lifted and dropped the leaves. This small clearing in the middle of the clearing would suit her and her skulk just fine.

Song stood and stretched her legs, reluctant to leave her new home, yet desperate to find another fox to join her. The vixen set off a steady pace in search of something she knew only her heart would recognize. It was a daunting task but one she knew must be done.

Eventually she found in. When she did, she stopped dead in her tracks, jaw parted ever so slightly in awe. There stood a tree unlike any other tree she'd seen in the whole wood. There, near the eastern border, was her star-tree. A gnarled, ugly thing it was, bark peeling and roots that left the ground only to dive back under. The branches all swayed under their own weight, some even touched the earth and Song knew that this tree was how she'd speak with her ancestors. At the roots of the ancient tree was a bowl, protected perfectly by roots and branches alike, and Song curled up within the little cup, eager to sleep. Song fell asleep quickly and awaited the voices of her ancestors.

It wasn’t a rather unusual occurrence for the loner to stop by the Boneyard. He’d always gone exploring in it ever since he’d found this strip of land – he’d just never really had a purpose for going there. Sometimes it was because there was an abundance of prey there. Usually it was out of sheer boredom. But last night… Last night his purpose had come to him in the form of a dream.

It’d started out with the stars. The stars, those beautiful light-creatures that everyone in any skulk would die to meet – he’d met them in his dream. They spoke to him. Told him to create his own skulk, to make a home for foxes who’d otherwise not have one, to help them flourish, to thrive. In all honesty, Zagadka was completely and utterly convinced he’d eaten some bad berries the night before. Certainly the stars wouldn’t choose him to take on such an important task… Right?

However, when one of the stars touched noses with him, granting him his nine lives… He suddenly knew this was the real deal.

He’d awoken with a start at the crack of dawn, out of breath and shaken up from that strange, strange dream. But he didn’t stop to ponder it, didn’t pause to mull over its credibility. Instead, he’d ran. Ran straight to the Boneyard and closed his eyes, pressing his nose against one of the particularly larger stone tombs as he awaited to hear the sweet, sweet voices of the stars yet again.

Oisin poked his nose out of the den, sniffing around. He had discovered this odd clearing the previous night and immediately fell asleep; the young tod had been traveling for days. He sniffed the air once more, feeling quite timid, before pushing his whole body out and glancing about curiously. This was where he would start his skulk. This was the place he had been searching for. Briskly leaping up onto the lowest part of the cliff-face that surrounded the den-site, Oisin looked around in awe. The forest seemed to stretch on for an eternity and it seemed their camp was atop of hill so they had an advantage of sight. It was then Oisin's stomach let out a desperate rumble and the waking thought reminded Oisin that he hadn't eaten in days. He decided he would hunt while he explored.

Leaping off the ridge, the silver tod frolicked through the trees. Oisin stretched out his lanky body, his senses alert for any sign of prey. He was walking for what seemed like an eternity before he found the glassy pool of water. Immediately intrigued by the randomness of it, he touched his nose down to drink from it and was surprised when he was filled with a sudden sleepiness. A few more minutes of sleep would do no harm, right? The tod crawled into a ball before closing his eyes.

When he opened them again, Oisin was welcomed by darkness illuminated by starlight. Where was he? He felt presence all around, but saw nothing. Whispers caught his attention, preaching of his skulk, his future. Curiosity got the better of Oisin and he puffed his chest out, if there were others here, he might as well ask for their help. "If there's anyone there, please acknowledge my presence and gift me with a fellow fox; preferably with knowledge of herbs."

Peach tried to steady herself as she walked across the slippery lilypads. The night before, the stars had sent her a dream telling her to go to the Starfall. At first, Peach has no idea where this 'Starfall' was, until she went out to look at the pond. Across the pond was a tall, rocky waterfall that was so shimmery it looked like the stars were rushing through it — it was obvious what they meant now.

Luckily for her, she was incredibly light, so she didn't weigh down the lilypads at all much. When she got there, she realised there was no way of passing through to the other side of the waterfall except going through it, so she held her breath and braced herself for the ice that was the waterfall that was going to crash down onto her small body. Peach took a few steps back, careful not to slip into the pond, and ran through to the other side of the Starfall.

Suprisingly, Peach didn't feel much at all — but as she looked at her grey and white pelt, she realised she was soaked through. Peach shook her pelt, getting rid of the droplets of water that hung onto her fur. As she looked forward again, a brilliant sight met her eyes that she didn't notice before.

An almost perfectly circular pool lay in the centre of the cave. Looking closer, Peach saw that a small lilypad with one small, white and pink flower sprouted from it. She shook her head — it wasn't New-Leaf! How could a water lily be in here, with barely any sunlight? Curious, Peach padded up to it. She dipped her paw in the water, and swished it around a bit. This water felt... weird. She felt... ..sleepy. Peach soon dozed off.

Suddenly a bright light appeared before her— she had to squint to make out the shape that was producing such light. Peach's jaw slightly dropped in awe. A fox was the creature that was standing before her! She soon realised that this must be the star that gazes over her skulk. She breathed out, trying to remain calm. The fox before her just smiled warmly. Peach then yipped,
"Please, may I ask for a second? Of course I have the stars to guide me, but I want something more direct to help me with my troubles. Thank you so much for your time."

anemone settled into the mending vulpe den, content. looking up at nani, she smiled gratefully. "thank you for allowing me to
join your skulk. it's truly an honor." nani shook her head. "no need to be so formal, anemone. you are my skulk-mate, after all.
we are friends, are we not?" anemone nodded, getting to her paws. "i hope it's alright if i go and collect some mending herbs?"
nani nodded, and anemone slid past her leader, her nose scenting the air for any useful herbs. back in camp, nani was
just about to leave for a patrol. the kit fox bounded out of camp, heading for the skulk borders.

Kanyu's eyes were bright with anticipation as she looked over the newly established camp. It thrilled her to think of how someday, this place would be bustling with life. She quickly scrambled down from her spot on the tree branch and set off into the forest. The first thing on her agenda was to mark the borders of her new skulk's territory; she would not put up with random foxes coming and going as they pleased. As Kanyu padded on, she found herself wandering right past where she had intended the borders to be. She was being inexplicably drawn to keep walking, although she couldn't say why or how. The feeling grew stronger as she went, and the leader knew that the stars were leading her on. At last, she came across a small, steep hill in the center of a clearing. Without a second thought, Kanyu clambered to the top of the hill. The stars stretched above her, beckoning to her with their light. When at last the vixen managed to wrench her gaze from the sky, she noticed a tall, black rock in the middle of the hill. As she moved toward it, a sense of tranquility and fatigue began to flood her body and mind. Kanye curled her small body around the stone and closed her eyes, allowing a deep sleep to overtake her.

Adair groaned slightly when she felt a paw jabbing into her side. The vixen shifted onto her other side, kicking one of her hind legs out again when she felt the paw jab her again. "Adair." A voice groaned. The leader huffed, her tail lashing slightly. She shifted back over and opened her eyes, seeing her second in command crouched next to her. "We need to go do something. Anything. I don't want to stay in camp all day."

"Fine, Brycen." Adair chirped, rising to her paws. She shook out her fur to get bits of her nest off. "You go hunt and find food for us while I go on a patrol. Deal?"

Brycen perked up happily and nodded, hopping out of the den. Adair smirked slightly before following him out of the den and out into the mountains that surrounded their camp.

Daisy was strolling around the territory, on a patrol. She jumped at the sound of a voice. "I'm so sorry Daisy. Did I frighten you?" Daisy turned to face the fox, his name was Aspen, he was pretty new but he was definelty a strange fox. "Just a little bit." Daisy said quickly, before begging to walk again. "I'm sorry." Aspen said as he caught up to her. "So what are you doing?"
"I was just patrolling. Looking for more foxes."
"Oh, ok then. Well I guess I should go hunting, becuase there will be more mouths to feed."
Daisy nodded her head and continued walking, as Aspen spilt from her and walked in a another directions searching for prey.

vulcan wandered around the forest, nani by his side. the two made an excellent hunting pair, nani being a superb tracker, and vulcan an extraordinary hunter. dropping into a crouch, vulcan locked in on a mouse, foraging under leaves. remembering what nani said about giving thanks to the prey and the stars for giving them food, he pounced.

Song had been headed back to camp when a new smell hit her nose. She stopped dead in her tracks, lifting her narrow muzzle to regard the smell more in depth. It was a fox, of that she was sure.. a vixen! Song's heartbeat picked up, excitement moving her paws quickly along the forest floor. Soon enough the vixen was thundering through the thin wood, eagerness coming off her in waves.

She reached the camp entrance and stopped as a new form came to light. A vixen sat, tail curled over her own paws, a friendly smile on her curious features. She was a small thing, much smaller then Song yet she exuded confidence and determination. "What is your name?" Song greeted as she got close enough, "And what are you doing here, if I might ask?"

The female in front of Song smiled all the wider and bowed her head lightly, "My name is Fern and I was sent here.. To find you, Song of the Motherly Stars." Fern grinned as she spoke, showing off her pearly canines. Song's excitement beat all the harder in heart, "Your name is no longer Fern then." Song spoke calmly and approached the other vixen, "Your new name shall be Mouse that Hides Under Fern and you shall be the second in the Skulk of Creaking Branches!" Song and Fern shared a moment of celebration, saying praise to the stars and dancing lightly on their paws in a small circle.

Several moments after the two stopped, "We must hunt," Song spoke, "We shall go in different directions, catching everything we can." Fern, of course, bowed her head again, "Yes, Song of the Motherly Stars. I'll keep my eyes open for any other foxes I can find as well."

The two vixens shared another moment of celebration and joy before parting.
