The soft spring breeze rustled the leaves of the willow trees as Ares led his patrol along the North border. The alpha took the lead, happy to be out of camp and able to think for once. Too many things were happening, at least, for him it seemed like a lot. The threat of a rogue pack lingered uneasily in his mind, mixed with the need to protect his pack and the dread that he was unable to do so. The dark brown dog shook his head. He needed to focus. "Anything?" Athena barked as she trotted beside him, her thick brown tail wagging. The newest Irontooth was now as large as he was, a far cry from the skinny tenderpaw he remembered training. Of course, her electric blue eyes remained the same. She lifted her muzzle in the air, closing her eyes in concentration. On her other side, Deimos did the same and shook his head. "Nothing." Ares held his tail in the air and padded ahead, keeping his nose low. Suddenly, he smelt a scent he didn't recognize. Definitely another dog. "Over here." He barked to them.
Led by Ares, they followed the scent trail east until they reached the edge of the East border. Standing there was a large black Shepard dog standing there. His shoulders were littered with scars and there was a rather large one across the bridge of his nose. He looked very relaxed, for a rogue dog. When the patrol approached the dog, he cocked his head. "Woah, no need to look so apprehensive, Alpha." He said, his tail wagging. "I ain't lookin for trouble."
Ares's eye twitched and he planted himself firmly on the ground. Athena and Deimos flanked him with the same stance. A growl rumbled in Ares's throat. "I can't know that for sure."
The dog seemed unaffected and casually sat down, eying the patrol innocently. "Ah, I see. Can't blame ya for not trusting a stranger. The name's Hades, I'm a friend of Eros."
"A rogue." Athena muttered and Ares ignored her, straightening his neck. "Eros did mention you." He said, "Why are you here?"
For the first time, Hades grew very concerned. He flattened his ears and whined softly. "Because I wanted to warn you, that, the rogues are comin tonight to attack your camp-drive you out." He looked up Ares with huge brown eyes. "I was hopin that if I warned you, you'd maybe let me join your kennel. I mean, the dogs I run with aren't as kind as you are, and you let Cronus and Eros join..."
He trailed off when he saw Ares raise his tail, silencing him. The alpha sighed and nodded his head. "You have given me reason to trust you and I will never reject a trustworthy dog. Come, we have much to talk about." He barked and began to walk away with the three dogs on his tail.

"Cobwebs, cobwebs, so many cobwebs." Diana sang to herself as she dropped back onto the ground and piled the sticky substance into the wad she had been working on for most of the afternoon. After Ares had returned with Hades, Diana knew she needed to make a herb run in case anyone got seriously hurt. Hopefully, all her worrying would be for nothing. The shaman let out a breath and collected her herbs, scooping them together in one big ball. As she was preparing to leave, a rustling among the dense brush. Diana's head snapped up and she surveyed the area, trying to find the source of the noise. "Show yourself!" She barked into the air with a hint of a growl.
The brush rustled again and this time, a small black form emerged from the bushes. It was a pup, around 12 months old. Her coat was black and fluffy and tangled from the swampland's rough terrain. Diana could see the fear in her eyes and immediately her demeanor softened. The pup stopped a few paces from her. "Um, hello." She said with a small grin. "I think I'm lost." Diana couldn't help but grin and dipped her head. "I suppose you are. What's your name, little pup?"
"Delphi. And yours?"
"Diana. It is lovely to meet you."
The shaman and the lost pup talked for a while before Diana made the decision to take her back to the kennel as her apprentice. Before though, she took her around and introduced her to the herbs that grew on the rather barren terrain. She even took it upon herself to teach the pup a few fighting moves, just to prepare her for the life that lay ahead of her.

As the sun began to dip below the tops of the willow trees, the Night Callers prepared to drive out the threat that had moved in on their territory. The brothers, Deimos and Anteros, spoke in hushed tones near the camp entrance. Near them, Eros and Hades were speaking to Cronus. Eros could see the fear in his father's good eye and tried to reassure him as best he could. He had grown up in the pack and knew all the techniques they used to fight. Nike stood off to the side, her head and ears held alert. Bello paced in front of the leader's den. All were waiting on Ares, who was inside the nursery talking with Enyo. The leader's mate was very anxious about the whole endeavor, but knew it had to be done. Leaving Athena, Diana, and Delphi in charge of camp, the group left the safety of their camp to protect their territory.
