weather: the chances of finding new cats is very high, what with the plentiful prey and mild weather that new-leaf brings. illnesses will be much more uncommon, and kittings will run smoother. herbs are sprouting freely and animals are emerging from their burrows. most of the floodwaters have receded, leaving behind only the occasional puddle.

Sniffing through the snow and grass, the molly mostly blended into the whitened landscape. She was on the lookout for surviving herbs even after all the biting cold and all-consuming snow. She sighed. A hope still burned in her heart, but she was having no luck. There was hardly anywhere else she could search. She marched on, her tail flicking behind her. Her fur was soaked as the snow rose to her chest even, cooling her skin. Blossomteller could almost swear she would get a cold after this. She struck gold when she stopped to shake some clinging snow away, noticing there were small black seeds under her, seeds she had assumed were poppy. Her nose was running and clogged and the air stung like a wasp when she opened her mouth so she trusted sight alone and gathered the black beads from the frozen ground, haring back to camp to warm up a bit. Maybe she wouldn't catch Whitecough just yet.

After a lot of running after prey and freezing in the deep snow while stalking, Sand's work had finally just paid off. He now had a rabbit to show for his efforts. He sat down briefly, drinking in the scent and catching his breath after chasing this hunk of stringy meat. A rustle caught his attention. The tom stood up, looking in the direction of the sound. He slowly drew near it, but the next thing he knew, there was a pain in his side and he was laying in the snow. He got up swiftly, hissing at the flame-pelted creature that had taken his catch and was trying to run away with it. Jumping on its back and clawing at the fur like a rabid animal, he hissed and yowled at it to give back his prey. The fox kept running, making a series of sudden turns and twisting, jumping into the air to toss him off, but he held on. Desperate, the fox even rolled in the snow and banged against tree trunks. The spotted tom was slowly losing his grip and the last he saw of that fox was when he ended up swerving to the side just enough for his head to get bashed against a tree. His vision blacked out and when he got back up to his paws, all was empty. Nothing but the fading scent of fox, the trail left in the snow and silence all around. Unsteady and dizzy, he sighed and headed back to camp emptypawed.

Shadow was left alone...all alone...in an empty...quiet camp...He sat at the entrance, staring out into the distance, cherishing any sign of life out there. His ear flicked as something light and soft touched his tail. The tom spun around, catching a feather under his paws. The tabby purred, playing with a brown feather, rolling around in the snow, tossing it up in the air, pouncing on it, chewing on it. It was a blast and he didn't even feel the cold despite the stinging wind and his completely soaked pelt...
That night, he couldn't stop sneezing, however. Possibly a cause for alarm.

Tribe of the Crystal Streams

Fire came back with an older cat. "She's a perfect Prey-hunter!" he said, looking at Streamteller. "Ok. I believe you Fire," Streamteller said, sizing up the could-be prey-hunter. "I already love this tribe!" the she-cat said, bouncing on her paws. "She's fit for the role I guess." Streamteller shrugged. I'll just have to see how much prey she can supply the tribe with... Streamteller said, "I shall name you Silver that Glints in the Light. For the light, you bring this tribe." Rock suddenly came back, empty-pawed. "I couldn't find anything. I'm deeply sorry, Streamteller." Streamteller nodded. "It's OK if you aren't good at hunting. Meet our new Prey-catcher! Her name is Silver that Glints in the Light." "Hi! I'm Silver." Silver cut in, wanting to be seen. "I already love this tribe!" Silver repeats.

"Azure, is this the place? Are we reallly free from those strange creatures?" Navy asked. "Of course, Navy. You don't have to be so worried all the time." Azure purred. "But Azure-" Azure stopped him by raising a claw to his mouth. "We will be fine, Navy." she promised. "But we need to know how to hunt!" Navy continued, regardless of Azure's promises. "I heard there is a tribe nearby. No worries, they can teach us and we will be on our way." Navy shook his head, but Azure nodded, running ahead.

Ash exited the cave, her muzzle raised to the air. A familiar scent was coming forward. "Lavender?" Ash asked in surprise. "So you still have that strange name?" she asked, her eyes drawn to Wolf cowering behind her. "Yes, I do!" Lavender replied in return, exiting from his hiding place in the bushes. "I see that you have finally returned to see your own kits?" Ash snorted. "I couldn't before, Ash. The rouges forced me to work for them." he continued, his head down. "Another excuse?" Lavender shook his head, worry in his eyes. "I'm sorry-" "My Father!" Wolf cried, charging towards the tom.

Spring -- The last few storms that would have promised snow have come to a stop. Warm showers now take over the land and new growth is beginning to appear. Healers would benefit greatly by going out often to collect the returning herbs. Cats will be less likely to get sick, but there’s still the possibility, so be careful with how often you send out your cats. Prey also returns in abundance. Migrant birds will be on their way back to their summer grounds and burrowing creatures will be waking up from hibernation. Roaming cats will likely be drawn in by the new availability of food, and a tribe will have a better chance at adding these rogues to their ranks. Queens will have a much easier time when they are kitting and the chances of losing their litter will greatly decrease.

Lillies felt her tail tremble as she sat, sandwiched between her two brothers. Today was the day that Stormteller would tell them whether they would be prey-hunters or cave guards! Lillies knew that Panther would be a cave-guard for sure - he was always protecting her, and he was so good at it too. But Kestrel was so quiet, he might make a good prey-hunter - except he was always wandering off and poking about with plants, so maybe not. What was most interesting to Lillies is whether she would be a pair with Panther, or with Kestrel; Juniper and Fox were already a pair. "And now the time has come for these three kits to know their destinies." She jumped, realizing Stormteller was ready, and her heart lurched. "I think I'm gonna faint," she whispered, pressing herself against Panther. He gazed down at her with a grin. "Naw, you'll be fine, trust me." His easygoing attitude calmed her, a little bit. Stormteller had been talking about traditions that belonged in the Tribe - to-be's in pairs, kits with one-syllable names, and assessments and tasks for to-be's. Finally, Stormteller was going to decide their future, at three moons. "Panther." Stormteller's sharp gaze locked onto her confident brother's neutral look. "Yes, Stormteller?" Their leader rested her tail on Panther's back. "Your confidence, patience, and protectiveness is perfectly suited for a cave-guard." He sat even straighter, eyes gleaming with pride. "Then a cave-guard I will be." Her brother padded forward, sitting beside Flurry, Sun, and Fox. Stormteller padded down to Lillies' other side, halting by Kestrel. "Kestrel. I have a different path in mind for you. Your attentiveness to herbs, your quiet thought, and your responsibility are traits of the best healer. Therefore, I ask that you follow the pawprints that I leave, and take on a task that not many can handle. I ask that you become my apprentice." Kestrel's eyes grew wide, and Lillies held her breath anxiously. Will he do it? I mean, that would be awesome!! My brother, a healer! A leader! He sucked in air, then slowly let it out. "I accept. I mean, if you really think I could, I'd love to! I mean, er..." Stormteller smiled, and brushed Kestrel's head with her muzzle. "Of course you can. I'm looking forward to our training." Lillies sagged with relief, seeing how happy her brother - and Stormteller! - looked. And then her heart practically stopped, because now it was her turn. Stormteller turned to her, and her mew was gentle and kind, surprising Lillies. "Lillies, your compassion and discipline are perfect for learning the technical, meticulous art of hunting in the mountains. I think you'd make an incredible prey-hunter, if you accept the decision." The she-kit found herself nodding, and her ears pricked. "I do accept it. Thank you!" she blurted, and then raced over to Sharp, the intimidating senior prey-hunter, and Juniper, his energetic to-be. A prey-hunter...perfect. It's perfect! And she was ready to go. "I can't believe I have to wait for 3 more moons!"

Fox sauntered next to Juniper, flicking his plumy tail excitedly. "Can you believe we get to go to the base? With Stormteller, and as a paaaair?" Juniper snorted, but he wasn't sure whether it was amused or annoyed. He hoped amused. Stormteller flicked her tail and glared at the pair of them. "Are you two coming to not? The branches don't gather themselves, so focus. If you two can spare any time from flirting, that would be helpful," she teased. And the two to-be's found it suddenly easy to divert their gaze from each other, embarrassment flooding them.
Stormteller goes to the base of the mountain to collect herbs and hunt.
Juniper and Fox go to the base of the mountain to collect branches and leaves, and to hunt. (Does this count as hunting training?)
Flurry and Frost go hunting.
Sun goes on patrol.

Weather: Spring is here! Though it rains often, the new growth of life makes herb hunting abundant. Cats will often wonder onto your land and want to join your ranks. However, predators that are hungry after a long winter of scarce prey will also be wandering your tribe's land. Hunting is now easier and more patrols are more likely to bring home several servings of prey! Kit births will be more successful and less likely to result in still borns or complications that would cause you to lose your kit-mother.

[ Your patrol manages to chase away the fox. It won't come back in a hurry. Only, Bear sprained his paw after being over-zealous in running after the fleeing fox. He will need elder leaves and cobwebs and will not be able to patrol or hunt for one moon. Storm was bit on his shoulder and will need cobweb and chervil. The others leave unscathed and prideful. Your tribe will be safe for one moon. ]

Sharp couldn't believe it. He never thought, once in a million moons, that he'd ever see her again. But here she was - her black and white fur, her beautiful amber eyes... "Moon...?" he managed to choke out. She stood there between a grey cat and Sun, radiant. His mate. At his mew, her ears twitched, her head turned. And then she bowled him over. "Michael! Michael! Michael!" Her purr throbbed through her, and he realized that he was purring, too. Sun beamed as he watched them, and called out, "I knew it! She wouldn't leave me alone until I took her here, after I mentioned that a cat quite like the one she was looking for was in our camp." Sharp gazed up at his friend, wishing there were words that could express his gratitude, but all he could manage was a shaky, "Thank you." Moon sat up and stopped purring, but her eyes glowed with love as she looked at him. "As soon as the ginger cat said it, I knew; it had to be you, it just had to be. Is Mia here, too? I've missed her so much! And you, Michael." She pressed her nose into his fur. "I've missed you too, Moon. To answer, yes, Mia's here, but she's called Frost now - she has kits, three of them! - I'm called Sharp now, you'll get a new name too, now that you're here, who's the cat that came with you?" Moon laughed, and stood, twitching her whiskers. "One thing at a time! The cat who came with me is my sister, Lena. She found me after getting lost in the woods near her house, and of course I had to convince her to come with me! She's super excited to join, and so am I!" Lena dipped her head to Sharp. "Nice to meet you; it's good to finally know the cat my sister won't shut up about," she mewed with an exasperated glance at Moon. "And she's right, I'm eager to get started here!" A voice sounded from the camp entrance, "And we're eager to have you."

Frost groomed Moon's black fur, talking with her as she did. "I'm so glad you found Sharp. He's never been less grouchy, but he's still a bit of a bramble bush in the mornings!" Moon giggled and flicked her tail. "Maybe Sharp is a good name for him in that way, too!" Frost purred and laid down, brushing her fur against her friend's. "Speaking of names, how do you like yours? Personally, I think Moon Softly Glows is perfect for you." The black-and-white she-cat blinked happily. "It is! I love my new name, and I think Lena likes hers too - it really suits her...rash personality." Frost rolled her eyes. "I guess rash is one way to put it-" Her reply was cut off as Kestrel rammed into her side with a muffled "Oof!" Barely a moment later, he dashed off again to join his brother in what looked like a game of rabbit-and-mouse. Frost shook her head lovingly. "Kits," she huffed. "You know, you and Sharp should have kits," she suggested innocently. Moon squeaked and butted her with her head. "Kits! We've hardly even gotten settled in," she protested. "I mean...it's not like I don't want kits," she muttered, embarrassed. Frost snorted. "Don't be embarrassed, look who you're talking to! And spring really is the best time," she purred reasonably. "That's true...maybe I'll have a word with Sharp. He did mention it, once or twice." Moon conceded, secretly happy. Frost smiled at her old friend. I hope it works out for her - she'll be a wonderful mother.

weather: the chances of finding new cats is very high, what with the plentiful prey and mild weather that new-leaf brings. illnesses will be much more uncommon, and kittings will run smoother. herbs are sprouting freely and animals are emerging from their burrows. most of the floodwaters have receded, leaving behind only the occasional puddle.
