Flameskip thought of the four apprentices he had to send out for their Long Hunt. 'Waveclan's first Long Hunt ever...' He thought, proud he was the one to organize it. Right away, he thought of putting Bearpaw and Vanillapaw for the first group, then Splatterpaw and Rosepaw together for the second. He knew they were both strong teams, easy to get along with each other. However, the deputy wanted to make sure he wouldn't mess this up.
He trotted over to the medicine cat's den, knowing that Blackstop was quite the opposite of him. While he was outgoing and chatty, Blackspot was blunt and cynical of others. 'Different view always helps.' With a small nod, he spoke up to the two medicine cats arranging herbs. "Blackspot! Hello! Quite roomy in here, ey?" Flameskip said, smilling.
"What do you want, suck up?" The white and black tom questioned, not turning to face him. However, Coralpaw quickly dipped her head to the deputy, trying to make up for the lack of respect from her mentor.
"Okay, down to buisness! That's cool." Flameskip said, taking a breath to collect his thoughts. "The Long Hunt. What do you think of these groups? Bearpaw and Vanillapaw then Splatterpaw and Rosepaw." He questioned.
"No. Those are terrible." The medicine cat said.
"What?? How, they all would get along!" The deputy complained. However, he noticed that the apprentice seemed to be confused with all this, so she simply went back to organizing.
"Exactly. Vanillapaw and Bearpaw would get along too well. I don't want them to come back with a young pregnant she-cat." Blackspot said. "Splatterpaw and Rosepaw are okay with each other, but the other doesn't work." He said.
"Then what should I do!" He complained, obviously ticked that his idea wouldn't work. "Rosepaw hates Bearpaw, Vanillapaw doesn't like Rosepaw or Splatterpaw, then she likes Bearpaw all too much! Splatterpaw is fine with anyone, but he's strongest with Rosepaw." Flameskip rambled, going on and on.
"Screw their apprentice drama, they're going to be warriors. They need to get over it." He said. "Set them up to fail. Bearpaw with Rosepaw, Vanillapaw with Splatterpaw. If they're really warriors, they'll settle the differences." Blackspot said, annoyed with Flameskip already.
"YOU'RE A GENIUS!" He shouted, darting out to bring the plan to Blazestar for the announcement.
