- [WEATHER] During LEAF-FALL, prey will start to disappear and predators will come out in greater
numbers in hopes of stocking their reserves before leafbare. Kittings will become more difficult so
it's advised to stock up on herbs like fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves, and raspberry leaves.

x"The clan's territory is beautiful," Swandance murmured. Her curled ears hadn't stopped
moving for some time now, craning at the slightest sound regardless of whether it was an
animal or not. Lightningbug was impressed by the molly's determination to help out around
the clan, and had no issue with Sootstorm assigning her to his patrol. A small part of him
was relatively grateful that Oatwhisker was in a separate group; his past interactions
with new cats made Lightningbug wary of the tom on that front, even if Swandance
hadn't been a kittypet prior to joining the clan.
x"It is," Lightningbug agreed. "I still find myself in awe of it, even after moons of being
here." A familiar bend in the towering canyon wall came into view, and he was briefly
reminded of an uneven patch in this part of the path. He turned to Swandance to warn
her about it but was greeted with an indignant yowl as she tripped and fell into a
nearby bramble. There was a rustling as she managed to wriggle herself free, and for a
brief moment, Lightningbug let himself feel relief at the fact that she was uninjured.
His hopes were quickly dashed when she turned to face the rest of the patrol and
inadvertently revealed a scarlet line growing in area on her hind leg. His eyes widened
in alarm, and she frowned.
x"What? Are there twigs in my pelt?" She twisted around to see what everyone was gaping
at and extended her leg for a better angle. "Oh," she said, frowning even deeper. "It's just
a scratch. I'll be alright."
x"It could become infected," Lightningbug pointed out. He hummed thoughtfully before
continuing. "Palefern," He began. "Are you alright with escorting Swandance back to camp?
I'd like her to see Fadedmoth."
xPalefern dipped her head in response as the rabbit in her mouth barred her from issuing
a verbal response. Swandance opened her mouth to argue but decided against it, perhaps
because her newcomer status didn't give her the position to quarrel with her patrol leader.
Lightningbug watched as the two mollies grew smaller in the distance behind them, then
turned to Sandsplash and Dreamer, determined to continue the hunt.
↪ Lightningbug's patrol catches x2 rabbits, x1 large bird, and x1 small bird. Along the way,
Swandance tripped and fell, sustaining a minor wound that will require x1 cobweb or one
moon of rest.

- PATROLS
↪ Capercaillieflight's patrol catches x1 hare.
xThe walk back to camp seemed to stretch on for eternity, each step feeling heavier than
the last. Sycamorewind and Snowbounce marched side-by-side in prolonged silence, the
weight of Wrenmist's limp, wet body distributed over both their backs. Quietrain padded in
front of them, unable to bear the thought of having to look at Wrenmist's face for more
than a few seconds. She's reminded of the chaos the young molly used to cause with her
siblings, back when they tramped around the nursery with the confidence of every warrior
in the clan combined. The thought of Branchwhistle finding out what happened made
her nauseous.
xThe sound of raised voices as the group neared camp did nothing to lift their spirits, and
served only to heighten their anxieties. Quietrain heard Sycamorewind murmur something
unintelligible to Snowbounce, who responded with something equally incomprehensible.
She wanted to turn around and see Wrenmist walking alongside them, making small talk
as she always did. She wanted to hear the sound of her pawsteps coming up from behind,
followed by a barrage of questions Nightbreeze so often described as simply endearing.
She thought back to the last gathering she'd attended, and the pride in Nightbreeze's
voice as he recounted stories from Wrenpaw's training sessions. She doesn't dare think
about how he'll react. She was jarred from her thoughts by a loud voice as the group
neared camp.
x"Is that Wrenmist?" Pinpaw meowed, unable to see the returning patrol from where he
was approaching. Happiness practically oozed from every word he spoke, spilling out of
his body like a river unable to stop. His brown-and-white face appeared behind a bundle
of pine needles, absolutely beaming. His gaze landed on Sycamorewind and Snowbounce.
He stilled, glancing first at Quietrain and then back to the warriors carrying Wrenmist.
x"Pinpaw," Quietrain began, her voice hoarse from shouting after Wrenmist fell. She tried
to blot out the sound of claws scraping against stone as waves crashed loudly against the
cliffs at the edge of Cloudclan's territory, drowning out Wrenmist's pleading cries for help
that Quietrain was unable to answer. She'd arrived too slow and too late, only catching a
glimpse of the young molly before her paws slipped and she was gone. Sycamorewind had
practically thrown himself after her, but ended up getting caught on a piece of driftwood.
It was sheer luck that led him to recover her lifeless body, clinging onto it by the skin of
his teeth as Quietrain and Snowbounce helped him to the shore. The time it'd taken to
scale the cliff face, no matter how quickly Sycamorewind had gone, hadn't been enough
to reach her in time. Quietrain knew Sycamorewind had been silently blaming himself
for it the entire walk back. She didn't know what to say to Pinpaw.
x"It's Pinstrike," Pinpaw— Pinstrike whispered, the joy in his voice having been replaced
with insurmountable grief. His face was a map of unreadable expressions, and Quietrain
could do nothing to fix it. "I wanted to tell her first, before it was announced," He said.
His eyes didn't look away from his sister's corpse.
↪ Sycamorewind's patrol catches x1 shrew. Distracted by the euphoria of being on her
first patrol as a warrior, Wrenmist wanders too close to the cliff's edge and ends up
falling to her death.
↪ Ploverstar's patrol is uneventful.

x"You did that on purpose!" Balto complained, lapping at the skin around his newly
sustained wound, courtesy of Cordieritepaw. The molly looked apologetic, but was
too occupied with her readily-forming headache to voice it. Arugulaswipe descended
on them like a queen to their kits, immediately fretting over the two while Lambjump
attempted to quiet down the other apprentices, who were snickering off to the side.
x"I'm really sorry," Cordieritepaw finally managed, slightly wobbling as she stood. Balto
said nothing, choosing to skulk by the molly as he made his way to the medicine den. At
Arugulaswipe's insistence, Cordieritepaw followed shortly after.
↪ Balto and Cordieritepaw fail to learn Fighting, and end up injuring one another
while sparring. Balto ends up with an infected wound that will need x1 sweet-sedge
or one moon of rest. Cordieritepaw has a concussion and will need two moons of rest.
