Rabbitheart sat in the empty camp that she used to call home long ago before the foxes came. She sat in silence mourning her clanmates that couldn't make it back to camp. Her gaze turned up to the moon and the stars that dotted the pitch black sky. The molly was soon lulled to sleep listening to the sounds of the rushing creek in the camp. When the white warrior opened her eyes she wasn't in the camp anymore, she was somewhere that she had never seen before. The area felt so calm, so peaceful even if Rabbitheart had no clue where she was she wouldn't mind staying there for awhile. The molly was pulled away from her thoughts by a voice. "Rabbitheart. Welcome to starclan."

Rabbitheart spun around to see where the voice was coming from her eyes wide from shock of what they had just said. The voice was her mentor, who died in the battle with the foxes. His scars where gone and his eyes sparkled with stars. "AH? What? Starclan ...?! I am dead?" Rabbitheart questioned her mentor.

Her mentor only gave her a tsk before sitting next to her curling his long bushy tail around her skinny body. "Well no.. You are not dead. Actually quite far from it. You will revive your nine lives." The old cat replied with a huff.

Rabbitheart looked at her mentor with disbelief, she had always trusted him and thought of him like a father when her parents wouldn't accept her. The molly searched the old tom's eyes for any hint of him being not serious, but the only thing she could find where the shimmering stars in his eyes. It didn't make any sense why she would get nine lives, she was a young warrior who just barely escaped from the jaws of death by leaving her clanmates behind. She was a coward, not a leader. ".... But I am not a leader... Not even close. Why would I be given lives?!" Rabbitheart demanded.

The old cat hushed Rabbitheart with his tail. "We don't have much time RabbitstarYou have been tasked with rebuilding Fernclan. Hurry now. I can't answer anymore questions." The old cat said before touching Rabbitheart's nose.

Once the tom had touched her nose she felt a rush of pain and emotion fill her body, joy and sadness at the same time. As quick as it started it was over, she was back in the camp alone. Rabbitstar looked up at the stars before whispering. "Oh Starclan, what have you got me into. I just want to see my clanmates again."

His fur was still wet from the long, arduous swim out across the Golden Lake in order to reach the Island of the Sun, and to therefore also see the rock where all of the kings and queens of his land had placed their pawprints in the royal purple dyes made from crushed flowers and drops of water. He had fallen asleep there among the tall hedges and ferns, and he had felt the warm press of the Sun Rock against his nose, forever warmed from the blood of all those had fallen. 9 of the terrifying gods and goddesses he looked up to had surrounded him in that starry drift, and while each and every one of them imbued some wonderful value into him, he pleaded and begged them for something—someone—to assist him in rebuilding the land he called home.

They never answered him, never gave him even the slightest nod or shake or any indication that they had even heard him, so all Yalun could have done was stare into the mystical, ethereal, ominous expanse that was their eyes, bulbous and white, filled with galaxies upon galaxies, and wonder if they would acknowledge him at all. Even drifting through the murky, still water in his trek back to his makeshift, haphazard camp, Yalun's mind still wandered to their faces; they were nebulous and obscured by light, merely figures of holy grace among his dark dreamscape, and a thought suddenly came to him; what were they, these Gods? He had grown up with tales of them and their incredible grace and mercy, how they held the world on their backs and prevented the terrible fire, Meztli, from swallowing the world whole, but it was never mentioned what they looked like in their physical forms. They had to look like him, right? Yalun reasoned. Why would they create cats in such a unique fashion if they didn't create them in their image?

Yalun's terrible imagination was suddenly shot dead as he dragged his dripping, wet body onto the banks of the lake, his fur clinging to his bones and muscles and his chest heaving with the effort of propelling himself through viscous water. On the banks, however, there stood a white cat, cowered into a small pocket of encroaching greenery that formed a cage around him, while a massive green anaconda blocked the only exit from the prison of orchids and heliconias. Yalun, in his frenzied state, jumped forth before his brain could possibly catch up with his paws.

His claws, outstretched and gleaming in the faint sunlight, sunk into the midsection of the massive rope of scales and sinew. The anaconda hissed in pain and fervor, anger glinting in the two pieces of coal that made up its eyes as it twisted and writhed in an attempt to dislodge Yalun from its body. With a few vicious whips of its abdomen, Yalun was rightfully torn from it and pushed back, his paws sliding over the sand, pebbles, and springy grass underfoot, although his rigid fighting stance was unaffected as he angled his entire body towards the massive serpent. The anaconda in question leered at both Yalun and the strange white cat beside him, its bubblegum pink tongue flicking out in thought and concern before it slowly waved its head away from the two of them. Two able-bodied cats were much harder to take down than one, and certainly not worth the trouble. With little ceremony, the danger was gone, slithering off between fronds of banana and cacao trees and slowly being obscured by the deep shadow of the canopy and the pitter-patter of rain against leaves.

Relaxing and smoothing down his hackles, Yalun turned his attention, casting his stormy blue eyes to the cat he had just defended. "Are you—"

Yalun paused.

"...Mulak?" Yalun breathed, blinking his eyes as if his half-brother would disappear every time he blinked.

Mulak let out a breathy, sheepish laugh. "Hah, that's me," he murmured, avoiding eye contact with Yalun. "Hi, Yalun."

Yalun narrowed his eyes, looking Mulak up and down and noticing a multitude of things that did not line up with the last time he had seen him. "What happened to you?" Yalun mumbled, staring at Mulak's hindquarters and speaking once more when Mulak hesitated in his answer. "Your leg, I mean. It's gone."

Mulak's ears pressed back against his head and he cowered once again, his back bumping against the hedge of greenery behind him. "Well, uh," Mulak began, biting the inside of his cheek. "I underestimated how hard it was to survive once I—you know... Left the family, and everything."

Yalun needn't have been reminded of his half-brother faking his own death, for the event was still very vivid in his mind, but Yalun was sure he had spoken about Mulak's disappearance more than enough times to justify not asking him for more details. There was one question he had, however.

"Then you healed yourself on your own?"

Mulak swiped his paws in the dirt, still sheepish. "Yeah."

"Interesting," Yalun mused, the cogs turning in his eyes. "Do you still remembering the tenets of our family?"

Mulak's eyes narrowed, but he still kept his gaze trained far away from Yalun's face. "Um, yes."

"Then, Mulak," Yalun began, a small, knife-like smile curving on his face. "I hereby name you the High Priest of CanopyClan, to serve the Gods and your peers with the utmost diligence and praise."

"But Yalun, you know I left the family for a reason!" Mulak protested. "How can you know I'm ready to live in a clan again?"

"Mulak, you know better than most that kings don't ask favors, they give out orders."

"I know, but—"

"Or, perhaps, I could leave you for the anacondas instead?"

Mulak deflated and pride surged through Yalun's chest. Such a heavy-handed approach wasn't often Yalun's mode of choice and securing resources for the clan, but knowing Mulak, it was necessary. LEADER'S DEN - SILENTSTAR

Silentstar's tail lashed, her ears flicked back, her eyes trained themselves on Blackwhisker. "And why," she hissed, "did the border patrol leader die again?" He had his head down gloomily, too scared to face his mate when she was angry. "The rogues attacked while they were out of our parameters and we couldn't get to them in time to support the fight." She seethed at the result, but nevertheless, she ranted, "Those rogues! How dare they attack our patrol when we agreed on the border!" Whirling around and muttering to herself, she snapped, "We'll attack back."

"Pardon?" "You heard me," the leader of LostClan replied. "We'll launch an ambush back at them." Blackwhisker was flabbergasted. "But we have so many kits and expecting queens in the nursery!" "I never said we'd attack right away," she dismissed. "We'll make preparations and leave them alone for a while. Then we'll strike when they least expect it in eight moons; enough time to train the kits."

Her eyes glittered in the darkness of the den. "And we'll obliterate their pack."

NIGHTMARE FOREST - GREENGAZE

Greengaze sat in front of the memorial. Although her clanmate had died, she didn't shed any tears for him. She did not interact too much with Stumptail, but she still mourned him for being from the same clan, because no one else would grieve for an outsider. "Stumptail, you idiot," she growled under her breath. Then she felt something warm beside her and gave a jump as Lionshade settled beside her. "Stumptail died a noble death," she assured Greengaze, gazing at the stone embedded into the earth. "He fought until the end."

"He would," Greengaze replied. "He's always been the kind of cat who would not stop until he won the fight. And that got him killed like the fur-brained froghead he is." Lionshade could not help laughing. "So why are you here mourning for him?" Lionshade smiled sadly at Greengaze, her mouth opening in a small "oh". "Well," she whispered, "I liked him. He was such a nice patrol leader, and I think he might have liked me back. So I'm really... really sad that he's passed away..."

Greengaze pressed against the sweet warrior comfortingly as she started to cry.

It has been a hard, long night filled with screaming and several waves of labor pains. But as the sun rose, everything seemed to calm and Grassheart’s litter was born. Now, she laid in her nest curled around her litter. She curled her tail around them. Ravencloud had moved three of the to the side. She had announced that they were dead shortly after birth. Blackbriar and Deerflight were somberly sitting across from her. “Grassheart, we’re so sorry.” Deerflight murmured. Blackbriar nodded. “I can’t imagine what it’s like.” She meowed. Grassheart didn’t pay attention to their words. Two of her kits had still lived. One tom and one she-cat, the later of which her eyes were glued to. “Why are you sorry?” She grinned “She’s perfect.” Blackbriar and Deerflight looked at each other. Sometimes when parts of their litter passed onto StarClan, the queen wouldn’t register the fact that they were gone. This must be happening to Grassheart. She nosed the small she-cat nestled into her belly. “I was thinking I’d name her Butterflykit. I always thought butterflies were pretty creatures. And she is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen.” The new mother purred. Deerflight purred along with her. “That’s a beautiful name.” Blackbriar agreed “What about your other little ones?” Grassheart’s eyes flicked to meet Blackbriar’s. “Why would I name them?” She asked, tilting her head “They’re dead. What good would a name do them now? I need to prioritize my precious Butterflykit.” The two sitting queens exchanged glances. Grassheart knew exactly what was happening. They swallowed, making a silent pact to name them before burial. At the same time, the tom kit was squirming around. He made his way over to his sister, squeaking for attention. Unfortunately, he made the mistake of climbing over Butterfly kit to get near his mother. He laid over her as he tried to suckle. Grassheart let out a shriek and harshly nudged him off of her daughter. The tom made a pitiful mew as he tumbled backward, landing on his back and wiggling until he was upright. “Stay off of her!” She hissed “You…you parasite!” Her face softened for a moment, but soon twisted in a sneer. “Tickkit. Named after the leech you are.” She barked. Deerflight’s ears perked up instantly. “Grassheart, don’t be cruel. He was only trying to feed-” The queen lashed her tail. “He’s my son. I can name him whatever I want!” She growled. Tickkit was resilient and tried to scoot his way back to his mother’s belly. But Grassheart pushed him away with her hind paw. Tickkit squeaked, rolling out of the nest. “Don’t you dare try to steal food from my daughter. You are nothing compared to Butterflykit.” She meowed harshly. Blackbriar cleared her throat. “G-Grassheart, if you don’t mind me feeding him-” Grassheart cut her off with a shrug as she pulled Butterflykit closer to her. “Whatever. It’s your milk you’re wasting.” Blackbriar got up from her kits and went over to Tickkit. She scooped him up and carried him back to her nest. Laying down, she guided him to her belly. “There you go, little one.” She whispered, watching him nestle himself against her. She looked back at Grassheart and noticed she was still curled around her precious daughter. The rest of her litter was gathered in a heap behind her legs, obviously already forgotten. Blackbriar’s heart ached for the small kits who never got a chance at life, or a chance to be mourned. The queen leaned down to Tickkit. “Don’t worry, little one.” She purred, licking his ear lovingly “We’ll take good care of you.”

The sandy tom limped through the undergrowth. He sniffed out his way to the hollow and pushed his way into it, curling up beneath the overhang. “Viperstar!” a tom yowled. His head turned to see Lionclaw and Otterfur enter the hollow clearing as well. A frown formed on his face. “I’m blind not deaf, mousebrain.” Viperstar muttered. The wound he had received from Ashtail had in fact cut his left eye, registering it practically useless.He could only see blurry shadows and movement out of it. Otterfur dropped a hare at Viperstar’s feet. “We caught this for you!” Lionclaw announced proudly. Viperstar grumbled his thanks and took a bite. Otterfur sighed and shook his head. He rose to his paws and his fur stood on end. “I’m just going to say it.” He declared “I’m leaving.” Both of his friends looked at each other. Lionclaw’s eyes widened and Viperstar raised a brow. “What are you rambling about, Otterfur? Just sit and eat.” Viperstar sighed. Otterfur lashed his tail. “No! I’m done with this group! I always lose things I care about when I’m around you. You made me give up the two things I cared about. A home and a family.” He meowed “I can’t deal with it anymore. I wish you good luck, but I’ll do better on my own.” He turned his tail and disappeared into the bush without looking back. Viperstar looked at Lionclaw. “Where’d that come from?” He asked nonchalantly. Lionclaw swallowed but shook it off. “Doesn’t matter!” he meowed “We didn’t need him anyways!” Lionclaw lashed his fluffy tail and moved over to Viperstar. The tom sniffed his wounds. “How are they?” Viperstar squirmed away from his friend. “They’re fine. Just hurts when I move a lot.” Lionclaw helped Viperstar to his paws. “Well, you always heard what Minkblossom said.” He chuckled awkwardly “A walk makes everything feel better.” Viperstar grumbled again but allowed Lionclaw to guide him into the forest.

The two cats sauntered down one of the less traveled paths. “You know, eventually we will have to leave the territory.” Lionclaw sighed “Ashtail and his sheep-cats won’t be fooled for long. We can’t hide away forever.” Vipertail nodded. “Yes, I am aware. I was thinking we’d cross the lake tomorrow at dawn.” He suggested “There’s a lot of unexplored territory…” He trailed off and stopped his pawsteps. The leaves rustled around the pair. He rigidly stood, hair raising and claws slowly poking out. Lionclaw noticed this and whipped his head around. “What? What’s wrong?” The golden tom asked, moving around to try and see the danger. It was silent for a few moments. All Viperstar could hear was his heart beat. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large brown paw swatted Lionclaw away. He was caught by a set of glistening teeth, crushed in a pair of brown, furry jaws. Viperstar gasped and stumbled backwards, pressing himself against the tree. The bear shook Lionclaw violently. Soon, the golden tom’s yowls and cries faded away and he hung limp from the monster’s jaws. The bear tossed Lionclaw’s body in the bushes and lumbered out of the foliage. Blood dripped from his chin. Viperstar was hyperventilating. The black dots forming in his vision partially blocked the bear. It felt like he was entirely blind. “W-What do you want?” He gasped. The bear growled and roared in Viperstar’s face. “When you break your part of the agreement, I break mine.” It snarled. Viperstar tried speaking, but his jaw just gaped like a fish. The bear growled once again and lunged at the cat, tearing him apart.
