Creeksinger looked up as Sheer, Feather and Sting approached.
"Can i help you?" The brown tabby healer said.
"We were wondering what our duties for the day are." Sting spoke up, and the two toms nodded in agreement. Creeksinger looked at the black molly, noticing how her fur brushed Feather's and their tailtips touched gently. Sheer stood off to the side, as if he too, could sense the pair's obvious fondness for eachother, and wanted to keep out of their way. The healer thought for a second, and decided.
"Sheer, you will patrol along the eastern border, and follow through to the southern portion. Sting and Feather, you will be hunting by the western, and continuing towards north, so the entire border is covered and protected." and to give you some time together, she added to herself. The three cats nodded, and she continued." I will guard camp until you get back, but then i must go looking for herbs." She said. The two prey-hunters trotted off, side by side, and Sheer prepared to leave. Creeksinger herself walked over too the camp entrance, and sat there, going over a list of herbs and their uses to keep herself occupied.
Feather trotted along a game trail, mouth open, sampling the air for scents. The two prey-hunters climbed up a knoll. The ridge offered a great vantage point and the climb gave the tabby tom time to think. He pondered the strange circumstances. The sudden appearance of this tribe. Their strange ancestors. The brown tabby molly, singer of the creek song, who could speak to said ancestors. The other tribe cats. It all seemed so surreal. He was brought back to the present by Sting. The black molly pounced at a dormouse nibbling at a seed, but at the last moment, the creature escaped, and Sting landed on the ground with a grunt of frustration.
"Better luck next time!" He said. She flashed him a grateful glance, and Feather felt his heart flutter. He shook off the feeling and continued with the hunt.
Sheer paced along the border, ears pricked and eyes peeled for any signs of movement. He was renewing the scent markers when he heard a rustle. Slowly, the large black tom turned, and saw a thrush, perched unknowingly in the grass. The valley-guard rushed towards it, but it scurried away. He flung himself after it, but soon lost the creature as it scurried up a tree. Growling with frusteration, he continued the patrol.
By the time she was finished hunting, Sting was exhausted. She could tell from the look on Feather's face that he wanted to rest too. The two of them had gotten a decent haul, and they took it to the fresh-kill pile. The black molly locked eyes with Feather briefly, and felt a tingle run down her spine. She dhook the feeling off and went to the edge of the clearing to groom herself.
