Season: Winter

The peak of winter is near. The water sources are freezing and the snow is piling up from the many snowstorms. The dogs are going out find it more difficult to travel as far. The prey are hibernating and have migrated. New dogs are rare to find.

The patrol party were making their rounds around the valley. Chabilis was beginning to shiver with his short coat. The wind didn't help to warm him up either. Quincey was a bit bulkier so he wasn't feeling the affects of the cold yet.
Soon the patrol walked upon a dog, though they almost wouldn't have known it. The wind was so strong that none of the dogs could smell it until a hundred feet away. The dog was covered in a layer of snow and it was laying in the cold. Alaska ran up to it to make sure the dog was still alive. She nudged it and the dog blinked. The dog, confused, asked "Are you an ancestor here to take me?"
Alaska replied "No. I am apart of a kennel. What are you doing out here?" The rest of the patrol approached.
The chesapeake bay retriever answered "Where are my pups? Have you seen them? We were traveling by the river when we fell in. I climbed out and was so cold. I haven't seen my pups since." The mother coughed and shivered uncontrollably.
Quincey said "I'm not sure what we can do about your pups, but you need to get to our camp and warmed up. You are very sick and cold. We need to move now."
"But my pups?!"
Alaska comforts her. "I'm so sorry. I'm sure that our alpha will send out a search party for them. But right now, you need to be helped. Come with us and you'll get better."
The party brings the dog back to camp.
[The hunting party catches X1 salmon and X1 rabbit.]
[The patrol finds a pup-mother with no pups! She is also sick with whitecough and must be treated immediately.]

Rexx stood with his paws steady as he looked for the white dog he had just seen lurking through the trees. He had been on a morning walk when he had caught the sliver of her tail as she skidded around him. He had pretended not to see her, but he was plenty aware of her. the woods he was traveling through were dead, a fire had rampaged through them within the last few years before he had settled down, creating a kennel for his dogs.

He cleared his through, trying to find the words to entice the female out of the shadows. He knew that his big, bulky size wouldn't be able to catch her, but he could overpower her if she came into the light. "You are on my territory. As alpha of these lands I ask that you step forth and show yourself, per courtesy to the code of ethics."

He heard a sigh, as he felt the female come out from behind him, "So you must be pretty strict then." She had stunning white coat and he couldn't help but to stare. She walked towards him hesitantly, "I was sent by some old dog. Telling me that I was destined to be some dogs mate... Rexx, i think he said."

Rexx shook his head, "That was quick. I feel like it was only a couple of days ago I asked for a strong female to help lead along beside me."

She narrowed her eyes at him, "Yeah right. Take me to your leader."

"I am! Before I even knew that you were my mate, I said that i was the alpha..."

~Now~

The patrol padded through the snow-blanketed forest in silence. Their paw steps muffled by the endless flow of snowflakes falling from the bleak sky. Sona, being the most experienced dog, was the leader of this patrol, and as such lead the dogs along the well trodden path. It was her job to make the decisions and keep the rest of the group in check. So when Maverick said he scented a strange smell Sona decided to investigate.

A sharp smell floated on the breeze, Sona knew right away what it was. Two-skins. It awakened memories that were best forgotten. Memories of another time and place. Abandoned as a pup she wandered the Two-skins land, always on the run, never wanting to face the harsh reality that she was alone. Always alone. But this was now, she had a pack to protect. "Spread out, there have been two-skins here." She commanded sharply. The patrol obeyed and filtered through the trees, on the look out for anything suspicious. After a few seconds Seraph called out, "I've found something!" He had found the remains of a contained fire, filled with soot and the stench of burnet prey. The site around the fire had been packed down trampled, but there were no two-skins in sight. The scent was only a few days old, but there was an overlying scent. The scent of a pup.

~Later~
Pepper lay sprawled out in her den, exhausted. Making sure everything was run smoothly and participating in patrols had taken a lot out of her. Recently they had to send out more hunting patrols, especially with the on set of winter. Even with Rose's help managing patrols and such. Maybe another dog would help take some of the responsibility off their shoulders.

Last Moon
Diablo didn't utter a single word as he led his most trusted soldiers to where the rouges where suspected to live. His eyes were narrowed, pupils flicking around in snake like slits as he surged forwards, each step oozing a powerful and equally terrifying gust of rage. It was undoubtedly a furious storm that was boiling inside him, and the apprehension of when it would be let loose earned each dog on the attack team to be on edge.
xxxxThe kennel's leader took no notice to it, pressing on down the winding streets of the shady streets of the city. The weakest in the pack found the dark streets daunting, each frightening twist and turn sending a ripple of shivers up their spines. The volleys of sharp barks that rang through the alleyways making them flinch, and the rabid and ruthless mutts that lurked sending them running with their tails between their legs.
xxxxOther dogs—particularly the ruthless beasts that waltzed in his kennel— embraced this. Ever danger sent them alive with rigid excitement. Their bloodlust and the startling willingness to spur up fights earning them the title of the demons of the streets to the resident mutts that scampered about the shadows.

Diablo smirked at the thought, enjoying the feel of such power underneath his paws. Knowing damn well that the dogs that spread these rumours and revered the kennel would easily bend to the commander of the pack's will sent him a quick wave of satisfaction. Although it did not stay around for much longer, as the scent of rogues filled his nose.
xxxxHe wrinkled his muzzle with disgust. The retched scent felt like acid being poured down his throat, blinding him from all others scents. It seemed to effect the others too, as they let out a few low growls and muttered slurs of rude comments about the pesky thieves.

"Well, well, well.." A voice suddenly purred darkly. As the attack group began to leap into their protective stances, a muscly black pitbull waltzed out of the shadows of one of the alleyways. "Is this the supposed group that wants us to leave?" The pitbull mocked, sneering. "Why, a meek group of pups would be better than this mess!"

Diablo took a step forwards, lips peeled back into a snarl. "You want to bet on that, wretched mungrel?" He challenged darkly. His eyes narrowed in snake-like slits, and his voice didn't even hint at the slightest of mercy. He was itching for a fight with the troublemaking rogues that caused so much havoc across his pack territory.
xxxxDiablo was itching for bloodlust.

The pitbull stared at him, his piercing yellow gaze boring into the male, searching for even the most minuscule hint of fear.
xxxxHe only stared into two soulless pits of pure rage and malign.
xxxxThe rogue looked away, pausing for a moment before giving a quick jerk of his head to signal his group of rogues.

Dark figures began to fan out behind the alpha rogue, appearing from the darkness of the shadows. A few growls rumbled from the dogs, and they sneered and watched the kennel dogs with unimpressed expression.

xxxx"Aw, how cute. They really think they can beat us." One of them mocked.

xxxx"Psht. Yeah, these mangy mongrels couldn't even win against a puppy!"

A sudden roar ripped through the air, bursting through the snickering of the rogues like thundering splitting through a storm. The vicious growl coming from Diablo was accompanied by the snarling of his packmates, who all lunged at one of the rogue dogs, catching them off guard. Yelps of shock came through the rogue group like a wave, rippling past each dog as the kennel dogs lunged.
xxxxDiablo launched himself onto the black pitbull that was their leader, his sudden impact of weight knocking the male to the ground. A huff of breath escaped the shocked canine as he tried to get a grasp on what was happening. The opposing doberman gave him no mercy, however, as he dived into his opponent's neck with bared fangs, ready to take the final blow. The pitbull managed to roll away at the last moment, though the sharp fangs of the doberman still managed to rake down his neck. Blood rolled down his chest as he leapt to his paws, his brilliant amber eyes alive with rage. Diablo stared back at him challengingly before aiming another blow at the brute, leaping up in the air just as the other did so.
xxxxThe two were a flurry of fangs and barking, blood spraying in every direction as Diablo faced off with the other male. His soldiers, Valerik, Faust, Neith, Costello and Tempest fought with just as ruthless nature.

Valerik was facing off with a wiry-haired hound, one of which was bleeding heavily from scratches down his sides. The impressive wolf's stature had already turned his first opponent—a smaller-sized collie mix— running off after the first few minutes of attack. The hound seemed to be close to fleeing too, though as another rogue joined in the fight the brute got fuelled back into fighting.
xxxxThe Russian wolf wasn't phased though. He leapt onto the second dog, snapping and tearing at any flesh or fur he could grab all while letting out a volley of deep howls.

Costello, Neith and Tempest seemed fine fighting off a few scrappy dogs. The three of them worked with precision, each one lunging out after another with a mix a merciless danger and elegance. It was clear the trio were working as a team, and it was working well.

Faust, however, wasn't doing as well as the others. Cornered by two other dogs, the husky mix snapped and barked as he tried to find a way to escape from the two dogs that were inching forwards. He watched as their eyes flicked down, staring with murderous glints in their eyes at his throat, clearly ready to take the blow.
xxxx"Um, guys, a little help over here!" He shouted, attempting to even his shaking voice as the pair of mutts moved closer to him.

xxxxHis words seemed not to be heard. The others were all deep in their fighting, and Faust knew he should be too. I know I might not make it out. He thought, narrowing his gaze at the incoming dogs. But I'll fight till the end! For my family, and for my pack!
xxxxWith those words tracing his mind, the creamy-coated brute lunged forwards. His sudden outburst earned him the element of surprise, as the pair of dogs were momentarily stunned. The moment of hesitation gave him enough time to lunge at one of the dogs, aiming his fangs at the throat of one of the rogues.

Although greatly outnumbered, the vast majority of the rogues had started to give up and flee, seeing the fallen figures of their fellow rogue members they understood it would most likely be them next. With blood drenching their coats and terrified expressions plastered on their faces, Diablo whirled around and gave a sharp howl of warning.
xxxx"If you ever think of returning, you flea-brained bastards, then I'll sick my entire pack on you!" He snarled.

Neith barked a round of rude slurs to the dogs, her lips still peeled back into a menacing snarl. She seemed just as ready to fight again, just as Diablo did.
xxxx"Sir, leader, sir." The deep russian voice bellowed out to his alpha. "Faust.."

Diablo turned around to view what Valerik was speaking of.

It was Faust.
xxxxHis cream coloured pelt was stained with blood, and the rise and fall of one's chest didn't remain inside of him.
xxxxHe was dead.

There were a few soft whines from Diablo's group, though that was it. The large doberman leader padded up to the dead husky mix, lowering his muzzle to sniff him once before turning away. His gaze was flat, his expression emotionless.
xxxx"Faust is dead."

His pack seemed to wait for him to say more, though he didn't. There was no touching words in his memory, their was no kindness or sadness in his voice. He didn't seem to care at all.

xxxx"Aren't you going to say a few things in his memory, sovereign?" Valerik questioned.
xxxxDiablo seemed offended by him saying that, letting out a low growl. "What should I say, hm?" He started, his voice tinged with violence. "That he could've fought better, that he was a pathetic, weak soldier?" He took a step forwards to the deceased's body, staring at it with disgust. "I don't want to look at this pathetic body for much longer, grab the prisoners and let's move."
xxxxHis command earned shock to radiate through the group. "You're not going to bury him?" One of them questioned.
xxxxDiablo shot back quickly. "No. But with that kind of talk back you seem like you want that."

The walk back to camp was a quiet one.

Current.
Diablo had it. This was his bursting point, and his explosion was coming with a whole lot of power. As he surged up towards his meeting rock, he stared around at the dogs that were gathered beneath him, all sad and mournful as they watched the small falls in the pack camp drip into the basin of water beneath.
Pathetic. He thought, annoyed.

He waited a moment longer before calling the pack to a meeting with a harsh growl. They jerked up, some flinching at even the sound of their alpha. Those dogs made another growl bubble in the Doberman's throat.
xxxx"Attention, pack." He began, his dark gaze sweeping through the dogs. "The recent events of the rogue attack has seemed to douse out the flame that I expect to see within us all. This is very worrying." He paused. "See, I am certainly not one to stand for any weakness. And when I see weakness.." His front paw raised, before slamming into the rock before him in a quick thrust as he let out another growl.
xxxx"I kill it."

A few of the more timid dogs—the weaklings, Diablo called them— let out a few anxious whines.

Hearing their frightened voices earned a malicious glint to shower the leader's gaze.
xxxxContinuing on with his speech, Diablo leapt off his meeting rock and moved into his group of dogs. "Valiant Storms was a pack that was weak." He sneered, meeting the gazes of the former Valiant Storms dogs, challenging them to say anything. "You know why? Because they kept the weaklings. And I think that Valiant Souls is coming to a end because of the same reason." He began to move a few dogs near the front of the group. Hellion, Odyssey and Tempest. All dogs that had suffered from injuries or some sort of weakness.
xxxx"Unfortunately I can't stop this kennel from dying. But I can create a new one, a pack stronger, better! It will hold no weaklings, no dogs that will slow us down as we claim more territory and power and slaughter each and every dog that stands in our way." His eyes gleamed with a frightening emotion as he suddenly stalked towards the three dogs, his lips curling back into a snarl.

xxxx"And it seems that you three weaklings are going to stand in my way."

Flakes of snow layered the camp, and a hefty amount of members were left shivering. Sparrow and Falcon laid uncomfortably in the Shaman's den, letting out the occasional cough and wheeze. Falcon cursed under his breath, and Sparrow grunted. Recently, Cadeyrn had joined Sparrow and Falcon in the Shaman's den, sharing their tiredness and pain. "I've toughed through worse." Cadeyrn offered, sighing. "I'm slowly but surely getting pretty old, if I do say so myself. Still got a good fifteen or so moons until I'm finding myself in the elders den." Cadeyrn commented, and Sparrow replied with a small chuckle. "I'll be joining you 'bout a year after." Sparrow added with a frown. "Hey, don't grieve that much." Falcon snarled. "I'll be joining Cadeyrn only a few months after. You still got a good chunk of your time left, Sparrow." They all replied with silence as Amour poked his head into the Shaman's den, cautiously carrying a herb none of them had seen before. "You three, this is called water hemlock. It's fairly poisonous, and if I catch you eating it you might as well already be dead." Amour warned, tucking the plant away. "Why take it back here then?" Sparrow questioned. Amour hesitated. "You never know if there's going to be any traitors lurking the camp."

"No, no, no." A low growl rumbled in Sage's throat. "Use more force! Don't be pitiful of your enemies, Viola." Viola whined softly but nodded. "Sorry." She murmured. Sage sighed. "Don't be sorry. If you keep on apologizing to your attacker, then you'd be dead in a heartbeat." Sage barked with an agitated snarl. Viola grimaced but nodded again. "Sorr- I mean, of course." Viola replied. "Good. Now try again. Use everything you got. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." Sage backed up prepared himself. Viola circled around her mentor and without wasting much more time, she lunged forward and let out a ear-piercing howl. Sage simply shifted to the side and left Viola tumbling to the ground. Before Sage could speak, without hesitation Viola retrieved her energy and got back up on all fours, taking a sharp turn around. Viola leaped towards Sage, giving him a nasty headbutt. Sage staggered backwards before ultimately falling. Viola's head rang with pain, but her pride washed over. "Ouch." She laughed.

"I demand for a change in our pack." Bullet snapped firmly. Boom frowned. "Why are you telling me, though? Shouldn't you be discussing this with the well uh... actual Beta? Gabriel only has a few more months until she's out of the nursery, I bet you could wait until then." Boom suggested, but Bullet shook his head vigorously. Boom winced. "What I'm saying is we need a new Alpha." Bullet barked in a gravelly tone. His words rang in Boom's head, followed by a desperate sigh. "Who?" Boom asked, and Bullet was silent for a moment. "Anyone." Bullet's voice was flooding with tragedy and bitterness, making Boom's face soften. "Who's 'anyone'? Bullet, please. We already had this conversation before. You're already a stellar Alpha, and everyone is dependent on you to get them through winter." Boom whined. Bullet barked no more. He gave Boom a fierce glare before storming out of the camp.

The dogs of Havasolare are wiry, stealthy
and intelligent dogs.  They're often looked
at as the elegant and exotic dogs of the
kennels.  The solare's are usually skinny
and fast breeds like greyhounds and
borzoi, as well as breeds that can take
the scorching heat of the desert-like
rocky areas.  They enjoy the sunshine
on their backs as they race the rabbits
through the grass and sand.
The camp is right next to a big waterfall
and the waterfall is called the sacred falls,
it is used to communicate to the starry
dogs.  There is a patch of open rocky land
that the dogs sun in and then their is the
cave for when it gets cold.  Their is also
many cliffs and hunting grounds.

Religion
The dogs worship three main gods, but
there is also a few others that they will
worship.  The most powerful god is sol
who is the god of the sun and all that
basks in the light.  He is the god of life,
sun and sky, good hunting and loyalty.
His competition is liu, who is his brother
and the god of the night, moon, death
and good fighting.  The third god is a
female names Xei, who is the goddess
of fortune and luck, fertility, love and
pups.

Dune Runners
The Dune Runners pack is settled in a desert surrounded by dunes and small areas of water that have plenty of plants growing for them to survive. The dogs here are good runners and used to the heat. The camp is in a small flat area with a small oasis in the middle.
The dogs here are fast and strong. They love to make friends and welcome any dog into their pack, but whenever there is a threat they have no problem destroying it.
They have a weird reputation, known for helping some packs/kennels, yet also known to destroy some packs/kennels. They are sometimes called the bipolar pack. Don't get on their bad side
The dogs here are mainly species that are used to the heat and have short fur. Very rarely do they find a dog with longer hair that's bred for the snow, those dogs are mainly run-aways from their owners.
Dune Runners is a group of misfits providing varying personalities, you never know what to expect when around them. One dog could be calm and nice, the other could be loud and rude, yet they make it work.
Not much prey can be found here, just various birds, snakes, and small rodents. Fish are rare yet found.
