the cats of firclan are known to be stoic survivors, much like the namesake trees.

their dens are nestled into a cave system that overlooks a lake. there is a large cave where the cats meet and share tongues, and then smaller branches of hollowed out rock that act as the dens. because of this structure, there can only ever be 50 cats at a time, as the cave system is only so large. sometimes, during the rainy season, water will flow into the cave and carve out more space, so this number may change.

firclan is matriarchal, meaning that a singular she-cat's bloodline will always rule. the heir will always be female and bodyguards will always be their male kin. the medic is able to be anyone from the clan. they are not able to have kits unless they have a fully-trained apprentice that is able to take on the duties for six moons.

the cats of firclan train hard and frequently. because of this, apprentices often gain scars or get hurt (sometimes even killed) during training. if an apprentice makes it to a full warrior status, they must survive a moon alone in the wilderness to prove that they can pull their weight in the clan.

all cats are welcome in firclan, if they're up for the challenge. and boy, is it a challenge

LEAF-FALL || The temperature has begun to drop, and the days grow shorter and shorter. With the disappearance of the unbearable heat, predators are more commonly slinking along the outskirts of the territory. Alongside the growing dangers that come with the cold weather, kittings are beginning to get harder. Clans should stock up on prey and herbs for the coming dangerous moons, as this will be their last chance until after the next season has passed.

The clan camp itself has a notorious verticality since cats reside and sleep in the branches of a gigantic tree. The branches are decorated with bird feathers and prey is stocked inside the tree's trunk. The territory itself is in the transition area between a dense forest in the north and windy grasslands in the south, cats are taught to navigate both through the trees and the open fields. There's a single thunderpath in the extreme northeast of the territory but few cats dare to travel there.

The majority of cats are shorthair with some very rare mediumhairs, colorpoints and white spotting are very common amongst the light walkers. They all have muscular and slender bodies, and pale eyes as one of their most distinctive characteristics. If possible I'd love to have a lynx point leader!!

As most clans, the lightwakers believe in their own version of starclan, called the Lightgivers. Their personal clan code is somewhat similar to the warrior code with some changes, for example, cats are allowed to mate with outsiders. They never hunt or harm birds, since they're seen as sacred creatures due to their flight abilities representing a strong connection to the sky, birds are also regarded as symbols of beauty, freedom, grace and spirituality. Their hunting and camouflaging skills were inspired by small wildcats which are regarded as symbols of cunning strength that goes beyond size or brute force.
The lightwakers don't follow or believe in gender norms, therefore they're all referred to in gender neutral language and their biological sexes are deemed as unimportant and irrelevant (in a mating pair i will specify which cat is able to get pregnant but aside from that i don't want any kind of gendered language or classification being used for my cats!!). They also believe in relationship anarchy, that is, they don't form monogamic or fixed pairs, all adult cats are allowed to form any kind of bond with any other adult cat, mating pairs are only temporary and formed with the intent of reproduction, kits are raised by all of the current or permanent caretakers. With that said, healers are allowed to have kits, however they aren't supposed to nurse or raise the kits themselves since their duties as a healer should be prioritized over kits.

All born cats are given a single noun as a name, those names are restricted to anything in their natural environment that's not a living organism or an abstract concept. Space and sky related nouns are regarded as the most honorable names to possess. When a novice completes their training they receive their tile which can be a prefix or suffix for their birthname, titles can be pretty much anything (excluding living organisms) as long as it combines with the cat's personality, deeds or appearance, for example, a cat whose birthname is "Storm" could be titled "Stormend" or "Risingstorm". Light guides don't change their names when receiving their nine lives.

Veteran: An older cat who's unable to hunt and fight like they used to, regarded as the most experienced and wise cats from the group
Healer: knowledgeable in natural medicine, responsible for taking medical care of the clan's cats. Also holds a spiritual connection to the light ancestors
Subguide: the second in command, will take temporary leadership when the guide is absent, and permanent leadership when the leader dies or is banished
