ixxx▬baldstar had run into fignewt, first; as he heaved the two large ravens he'd caught on his successful hunting trip, he'd nearly tripped over the tiny tom, who was sunbathing in a puddle of sunlight dripping through the trees. the little black-and-white cat had a bundle of herbs tucked away in a cool patch of moss a few mouselengths away.
ixxx▬"`s'cuse me?" baldstar spoke between feathers, his words muffled by the ebony corvid. he spat it out at his feet, flicking his tongue to get a couple of downy feathers unstuck. "excuse me," he tried again, now comprehensible without his meal in his mouth. "you wouldn't happen to be a healer, would you?"
ixxx▬the bicolor tom blinked awake from his nap with a casual air about him; he seemed entirely unalarmed that a strange cat had happened upon him while he dozed. "...you wouldn't say," the newcomer drawled sarcastically, rolling languidly to his feet, almost bored. "i'm fignewt. starclan sent me, said you'd be needing me really soon. what that's got to do with me, specifically, i'm not sure, but whatever. as long as you're feedin', i can stay complacent with starclan," he licked his lips, eyeballing the ravens below baldstar.
ixxx▬baldstar blinked. who in the fresh hell did starclan send him? now, baldstar was not claiming to be a saint... he'd had his fair share of glory days back in his early warriorhood, but this new tom, who couldn't be more than half baldstar's size, was throwing snarky remarks less than a minute into meeting his new leader? leader was... kind of a stretch, though, in all reality. baldstar had been snoozing around for like a week in camp by himself, driven to laziness by the snow. and he hadn't even really come here looking to be a leader. the totem had just looked like a cool place to scope out the area, next thing he knew, bam, ghost cats, and now he was here.
ixxx▬"yep, sure, yeah," he finally found his tongue again, spluttering a halfhearted agreement. he wasn't one to turn down free help from the dead, even if it had a tongue with wit as sharp as thorns. "right this way then, sir," he rolled his eyes, picking up the ravens, before setting off in the direction of the totem and the warmth of his den.

ixxx▬by the time fignewt and baldstar had made it back to camp, their numbers had increased once more. this time, with a pretty fawn point molly, a tortoiseshell molly smelling of milk, and three kits that they'd divided up between the mollies and fignewt for the carry to the camp. baldstar had been stuck with carrying the healer's herbs, and he scrunched his nose, the cobwebs sticking out of the bundle tickling his nostrils.
ixxx▬the kits were no older than a moon, and, though he didn't know much about health or medicine, baldstar worried about getting them into warmth quickly.
ixxx▬the mollies called themselves sweetdrop and mirra, respectively; the kits were mirra's, though sweetdrop briefly mentioned having apprentice-aged kits of her own, though baldstar didn't pry and fignewt was too busy grumbling about how high the snow was piled, what with his minute size and precious cargo clutched in his jaws.
ixxx▬the totem peeked from the trees, signaling the ragtag's group arrival home; it occurred to baldstar, briefly, that he was very lucky the ancestors had sent him a medicine cat; he surely didn't want to be considered responsible for the health of three fresh kittens and two more clan members with no telling how long they'd been in the cold.
ixxx▬sweetdrop had a peculiar accent; it dripped like honey, rolled off her tongue like dew off of mushrooms. it was intoxicatingly sweet to listen to. baldstar found himself enamored with her lilt, as she told him how she and her companions had found their way there.
ixxx▬"a tornado swept through the moors," her voice was solemn, hints of grief at the unknown tinging her melodic tone. "mirra was already busy collecting sourkit and tempestkit; the rest of the mothers in the nursery had already fled. yumakit isn't mirra's, but she got lost in the commotion and we couldn't leave her. we ran as far as we could. i have no idea if anyone else is left, or where they are; we tried going back to the camp but it was just destruction."
ixxx▬baldstar pitied her; he might have no family of his own, but at least he had closure and knew that his family had fallen to frost. he noted that sweetdrop spoke nothing of a mate, though, and his ears swiveled towards her with piqued interest.
ixxx▬when they made it back to camp, he and sweetdrop worked quickly to dig out a den in the mossy rocks for mirra and her kits while fignewt preened over the kits, grumbling at them when they wiggled too much or mewed in his face too loudly. mirra was resting, her eyes closed and form hunched over her kits as she finally relaxed, allowing herself a moment of reprieve to believe that they were going to be okay.

ixxx▬mirra, sweetdrop, and the kits had settled in nicely; baldstar wasn't sure if fignewt had settled in nicely, considering the tom had practically disappeared as soon as he'd made himself a den. baldstar had spent some time watching sweetdrop and mirra's interactions; they weren't mother & daughter, he didn't think. they were too close in age. but they seemed to have a very, very close friendship for certain.
ixxx▬"sweetdrop," he called as he approached the molly, bounding over the small stream bubbling through camp. sweetdrop was grooming the top of mirra's head while mirra groomed sourkit, the tiny orange faced tomcat mewling in protest. "i'm going to go hunting; would you perhaps patrol the borders? i am certain there's more cats in the area, and i'm certain they'd be inclined to come back to camp if you happened upon them."
ixxx▬at this compliment sweetdrop's whiskers twitched with amusement; her tongue stilled it's grooming and she rose to her paws, feathered tail swishing as she padded towards baldstar. "sure," she purred, mewing a goodbye to mirra and the kits as she trotted past baldstar, her pelt brushing against his as she strode off.
ixxx▬where they'd touched baldstar felt electric; he looked as if he'd been electrocuted, his fur standing on end and a ferocious blush coloring his pink nose.
ixxx▬"you go too," mirra chided him, clearly noting his interest in her travel companion and teasing accordingly. "you think the prey is just gonna walk into your mouth? get your chin off the ground."
ixxx▬blinking away his foggy brain, baldstar feigned surprise at mirra's comment and scurried off. he wasn't sure how successful this hunting trip would be, considering it felt like he had bees in his brain.

A fluffy white tom gazed out of the cave, yellow eyes narrowed, emotionless. A cat that only he could see stood beside him, glowing a dim red with a crooked smile. "Dandelionstar." The white tom turned his head towards the grinning cat that spoke. "Have you spoken with Blueriver yet?" Dandelionstar shook his head. "I don't wish to speak with those who are weak." He replied. The she-cat looked unimpressed. "That is a lie. You still want to talk with Arcticstar, and wish to train one of the more mousebrained Lavendereyes kits." She hissed. "Well. I'm sorry, Sweetburn." Dandelionstar spat, looking her up and down before stepping closer. "You don't seem to understand who's the true leader here." Sweetburn growled and smacked the tom across the cheek before raising her head and replying.

"Me."

Frostgaze fumbled over her herbs, trying to grab as many as she could. So many cats were hurt last moon, she felt so stressed- was she trembling? She exhaled shakily, but she soon heard a voice behind her, making her jump. "Are you okay?" She looked down. "Hello Lunarkit. You spooked me." Lunarkit wasn't really kit-sized anymore, she was almost adult sized, and it threw Frostgaze off. "I'm okay. Just a little stressed." She smiled sweetly, expecting Lunarkit to leave.

"Have you told Blueriver?" Lunarkit continued, glancing at the sleeping shape of the tom. Frostgaze hesitated for a moment. "Tell him what?" "That he's blind now. The entire clan knows. Burnwisp told a bunch of cats." Burnwisp glanced up from Blueriver's side, glaring at Lunarkit. "Oh. Well... No. He's been asleep since he fell asleep yesterday, and it's hard to-" She trailed off, realising Lunarkit was approaching the stacks of herbs. "Don't touch them, I haven't sorted those yet." Frostgaze pushed the she-cat gently. "You should be getting a mentor soon." Lunarkit glanced up at the Medicine cat. "Well... I don't want to leave the nursery just yet..." "Why not? Aren't you cramped in that tiny space? I also have to start preparing for Elkstride's birth- it's far too crowded." Lunarkit looked away, seeming ashamed.

"What will Dandelionstar do if he found out I didn't want to be a warrior?" Lunarkit finally admitted. Frostgaze hesitated, pupils expanding. "So... You know Dandelionstar's been changing the rules, becoming more strict?" Frostgaze kept her voice small and gentle. "Yes.. Apparently he scared Cheetahkit and dad isn't being treated right- or... Something." Lunarkit shrunk down as she spoke. "It'll be fine... Actually, I've been meaning to ask you something, Lunarkit, but it's completely okay if you say no." The lynx point sat up, smiling. "Huh...?" Lunarkit's eyes went wide. "Do you want to become my apprentice?"

Whitepaw watched his mother climb the meeting stalagmite. She gazed down at the silver tom, looking uncertain, cats were gathering around the stalagmite, and his father swooped his tail around Whitepaw suddenly, seeming protective. Even though Whitepaw wasn't much of an observant cat, even he could tell there was tension in the cool night air. He glanced around, Shadepaw staring right up at their mother, and Coalpaw looking as grumpy as always. Lunarkit hadn't been apprenticed yet, and she wasn't even at the stalagmite like the rest of the clan. Neither was Frostgaze, but even Blueriver was there, and he was resting!

The lavender-eyed she-cat looked grim. "Frostgaze told me that she wanted me to announce this once Dandelionstar was asleep, it's not great news, and I thought Blueriver himself should announce it." She glanced over at the tom, and Whitepaw's gaze followed. Apparently the tom was blind, and according to Lunarkit, Burnwisp had already told the whole clan, but many cats looked oblivious. Blueriver was leaning on the torbie's shoulder, his eyes still shut tight.

Just as Burnwisp reached the front, Lunarkit arrived with Frostgaze, before running off towards Whitepaw. "Moonymoo!" Whitepaw whispered excitedly. "Fluff face.." Lunarkit smiled, booping the silver tom on the nose. Suddenly, the cave was filled with mutters. "Lunarkit, what's happening?" Whitepaw bent down a little, ears flattening. "It's- Lunarpaw- and Blueriver just told the clan he's blind. Where's-?" "But didn't Burnwisp tell everyone already?" Whitepaw interrupted her, tail flicking. "And how come you're an apprentice? You didn't even get a ceremony." "I got a private ceremony, Whitepaw, Burnwisp only told Lavendereyes, I thought she told everyone." Whitepaw's mind filled with questions, but he couldn't find the words to ask them.

After the meeting was over, Whitepaw ran over to Lunarpaw, who was gathering up Shadepaw and Coalpaw. "Lunarpaw!" Whitepaw mewed. "Lunarpaw?" Shadepaw asked, glancing between Whitepaw and Lunarpaw. "Silly Fluffy, Lunarkit didn't get her mentor OR her name!" Shadepaw reminded the silver tom. Coalpaw tilted his head at Lunarpaw, but didn't say anything. "Actually, I had my Apprentice Ceremony in private- I'm a Medicine cat apprentice now." Shadepaw gasped, then purred and hugged her sister, Whitepaw awkwardly shuffling into the cuddle. Coalpaw stood back, before running in and pressing his head against Lunarpaw's cheek. "Congratulations." Coalpaw stepped back. "Congratulations, yes! You're gonna be the best Medicine cat in the history of ArcticClan!" Shadepaw purred. Whitepaw didn't need to say a thing, his actions meaning everything to the black smoke she-cat.

Over the next few days, Lavendereyeys found herself to be getting used to being a deputy again. Though the chocolate she-cat knew she could've returned to her duties when her kits were 2 moons old, it was nice to be a queen for a while. Now, she had no excuse. She made her way into Dandelionstar's den, bringing with her a piece of prey. The leader seemed stressed lately, and Sleet had been refusing to talk with the white tom. "Hello, Dandelionstar?" She flexed her claws nervously. "Come in." Dandelionstar's response was blunt.

She found herself hesitating to go inside, soon, she ended up pushing through and sitting next to Dandelionstar, who was staring at the mystical pool in his den. She dropped the prey at the tom's side and took in a deep breath. Just when she was about to speak- "I know." Dandelionstar muttered. Lavendereyes closed her mouth after little hesitance. "Know what?" "I know what you're going to say. So say it." Lavendereyes blinked, licking her jaws before continuing. "What happened to you? You used to be smart and brave and hardworking... But now... Now you just sit in your den, when was the last time you went on a patrol?" Dandelionstar glanced up at her, seeming surprised, but his expression relaxed. "Hm." He sat up, gazing down at the starry pool. "I'll tell you this, Lavendereyes." He started, turning to stare at the she-cat. "But only if you can promise to keep a secret."

Lavendereyes hesitated, she had almost forgotten Elkstride's tired words in the nursery. How she explained everything. She wasn't sure if she was trying to get sympathy from her or not, back then, was it a purposeful decision to break the warrior code? Did she even mean to have kits? Lavendereyes sighed, nodding. "Lately, this clan has been growing quickly, I could barely keep up with the clan, it was stressing me out." The tom explained. "My stress led to terrible decisions, I hissed at Ghostfall, snapped at little Cheetahkit, and I-" The tom dropped off, breathing before continuing. "I received a prophecy."

Lavendereyes tilted her head, but something caught her eye. She looked down at the pool. It was changing colour, starting to dim. Dandelionstar followed her gaze and shuffled in front of it, but her mouth was open, frozen in terror. "Lavendereyes. Focus on me." She turned to stare at the tom, shivering. The pool made her uneasy, it was a connection to her ancestors! Why was it.. Red? "The pool, Dandelionstar. What's wrong with the Blizzard Spirits, Starclan?" Dandelionstar looked down at his paws. "It's for the better of our clan, alright? Let me tell you the prophecy." Lavendereyes nodded slowly, shuffling her paws.

"When day turns to night, one final time.
Three will come from the shadows to save us.
A white tiger, an arctic fox and morning's soft glow.
From the darkest of claws, light will return."

Dandelionstar stopped speaking, staring at Lavendereyes. "A tiger? A fox? Morning? This doesn't make any sense!" The she-cat glanced back. "Does Frostgaze know?" "Perhaps." Dandelionstar moved to the front of the den, staring out into the cave. Lavendereyes noticed that the pool was blue again. "Oh, it's normal now..." The leader didn't respond. Lavendereyes sat beside him, gazing out over the camp. "Do you think Smallfox is the arctic fox?" Dandelionstar suddenly stood up. "Actually..." He headed towards the nursery.

Lavendereyes was left alone, suddenly, a sharp cry hit her ears. It was coming from the pool. She trotted over and a Starclan cat jumped out. "Please, help Dandelionstar. He won't listen to reason, I have a feeling my former deputy is behind this. And... Try to figure out the prophecy. I don't believe there's much time before-" She seemed to get sucked into the pool. "No! Wait!" Lavendereyes cried out, before she realised the Blizzard Spirit was gone.

Lavendereyes left the den, looking at her paws. "He told me to keep it a secret... But... Frostgaze and Lunarpaw need to know." Then, the chocolate she-cat ran into the Medicine den, to inform the two medicine cats.

She entered the den with a worried look on her face, tail swaying as she spotted her daughter and Frostgaze talking. "If you have something you want to ask- Oh, hello, Lavendereyes." The lynx point looked up. "Oh, my apologies, are you busy?" "Not really." Lunarpaw mewed, stepping forward. "Hi mum!" She purred. Lavendereyes hesitated, nervousness clear in her gaze. "What's wrong?" Frostgaze meowed, looking concerned. "Are you ill?" "Oh, no, I need to tell you guys something." Lunarpaw jumped up and ran beside her mentor. "Frostgaze says that if you're not dying then it's not important." Frostgaze laughed and shoved her apprentice gently. "What she means is, what's going on?"

As her mother explained the prophecy, Lunarpaw's eyes filled with wonder. "Our first prophecy, Snowflake!" "Don't- Oh, whatever..." Frostgaze rolled her eyes. "And Dandelionstar told you this?" "Is that why he was acting all weird?" "Yes, Frostgaze, he did." Lunarpaw's mother glanced at the black smoke before sighing. "I don't know why he's acting strange, I'm only the deputy." Lunarpaw tilted her head but her mother was already leaving. "When day turns to night one final time..." Frostgaze muttered. "Three will come from the shadows to save us!" Lunarpaw purred. "A white tiger, an arctic fox and mornings soft glow!" The medicine cat shook her head. "You have quite a good memory." She commented before starting to sort her herbs.

"Can I help?" Lunarpaw asked, tilting her head and approaching her mentor. "Not really, you don't know anything about herbs yet." "Well, just tell me where to put them, then!" She stomped her paw on the ground, feeling bored. "Alright, alright. Here, put this parsley over on that ledge." She flicked her tail to a lower ledge, and Lunarpaw followed the instructions. After everything was sorted, Lunarpaw felt quite proud of herself, puffing her chest out. "I did it!" "Mhm, and it went a little quicker than usual, too, well done."

Lunarpaw noticed Frostgaze's gaze felt distant. Was that how she got her name? The medicine cat left the den, heading towards the leader's den. Lunarpaw was tempted to follow, but decided to stay put. "That's none of my business." The medicine cat apprentice told herself, sitting down in her nest and curling her tail over her muzzle.

Common pelt colours, fur lengths, etc.: White, light grey, sometimes tan and light brown pelts. Normally tabbies and spotted tabbies, if not solid. Heterochromia is uncommon but not too rare, common eye colours are light brown, blue and green. Long furs and medium hairs are very common.

If you see extra names in brackets next to a cat's normal name, that's just their nickname! Not all cats will have them, but if they do have them, that's how they'll be addressed within the clan.

Only cats who have NOT been found on patrol or via request will be on the 'this moon's actions' list.

Scars are fine with all cats, but target cats marked with ^ for scars if possible!
