Clan Tradition:
When an apprentice is ready to become a warrior, they shall go on a week long quest into the Two-Leg territory on the western boarder, where they will look for a monkey by the name of Fitzgerald, and he will make their new clan collar for them. If they succeed then they shall be welcomed back to the clan as a full warrior, if they do not then they will have to train for an additional moon before they are able to try again. If they fail a second time, they are banished from the clan for weakness and a disrespect for clan tradition and law.

territory
the pine forest here stretches far and wide, most of the limbs bending downwards, heavy with thick layers of stringy, pale moss. a mountain juts up into the cloudy sky to the east, its rigid arms circling the land and almost entirely cupping it in its expanse. there is a small stream trickling in from somewhere between the earth's wrinkles, feeding a pond close towards the face of the mountainous entraptment, drawing in all kinds of thirsty critters.

ducks, most of all, can be seen paddling amongst the water, which consequently attract foxes. water moccasins, too, enjoy the natural pool, keeping to the buildup of rock kopjes and mud towers tossed up by crawfish hidden deep beneath the earth.

but it is here where the sky is most barren, free from the ever-grasping fingers of the pine, and thus the moon turns the water a milky silver during the night- ancient stars enjoying the freedom of skipping across the peaceful moonlit surface. and even though many dangers are present here, glimmerclan puts their faith in the stars above. for if they had no faith in this pool themselves, wouldn't they have congregated elsewhere?

this, by no means, is to say no cat has died here. glimmerclan holds fast to the idea of if a cat is to lose their life— or a life— mingling with their ancestors here, then perhaps they were not holy enough to visit such a sacred area to begin with. even if an innocent cat were to meet their end at the front of the pond, glimmerclan is sure they must have at least bore a guilty conscience from some past wrongs. perhaps in this life, maybe another. it matters not to the ancient's star-pool.

clan rules
1) never take water directly from the star-pool or her stream. sip only from puddles, snow, or morning dew.
2) defend the territory with your life, and let it be known that your honour is measured by your powress in battle.
3) to be the leader means you have shown your worth as a citizen of glimmerclan. you must succeed in war time and time again, have the patience of the lion coursing through your veins, and never falter from the star`s lightened path. the ancients welcome all those who meet their expectations.
4) an herbalist may take a mate, but a she-cat in this position can never breed.
5) to take a life in war means that you have survived. never be afraid to kill so you may live.
6) it is the highest wrong to harm a kit, queen, or star-paw. you will weep with the ashes of the forgotten for all eternity should such a felony be committed.

ancient`s standards
• never drift from the starry path of us, for we guide you to perfection & absolute holiness. to drift is to defect. to defect is to defile us.
• always be calm and level-headed. those who wish to see you crumble must crumble themselves.
• never meet war with cowardice. go forth, and succeed. if you are to perish, find comfort knowing we are always waiting to welcome you back home.
• those who have tainted blood may never walk among us. cast them out of your forests, as they are poison.
• be as true to others as you are yourself. your past will always haunt you, no matter how buried.
[ canonically, this is not written or known by anyone outside of glimmerclan. it is simply word-of-mouth, so things can change or be altered to the current leader`s liking ]

ranks
leader — the commander of the clan. their word is law, but they must strive to always achieve the standards set in place by the ancients.
chosen one — the clan`s second-in-command. they step in when the leader is unable, making sure citizens are doing their daily tasks, and are promised leadership should they survive to see the current leader pass on. to gain this title, you must travel to the star-pool, visit with the ancients, and survive the journey home.
herbalist — simply put, they are the medic of the clan. they tend to the sick and injured, and aid in kitting. they also have a special connection with the ancients, allowing them to have visions and recieve prophecies directly without trekking to the star-pool.
elder — those who are called this have reached 80-90 moons. they still are expected to perform all the basic citizen duties, but they hold a certain air about them. some cats believe the ancients guide their paws, protecting them until they eventually serve their destined purpose, whatever that may be.
citizen — the members of the clan who have reached 13 moons. they hunt, patrol, train others, and will potentially give their lives for glimmerclan.
queen — the expecting mothers and nursing mollies of the clan. they do not have to return to previous duties until their children become apprentices, but some return the moment their brood has been weaned.
apprentice — these glimmerclan members are between the ages of 6-12 moons. they are either training to complete the duties of a citizen, or refining their herbology and healing powress with the clan`s herbalist.
star-paw — the cats who have reached well beyond 100 moons. they have been relieved of their citizen duties and now reside comfortably within the walls of the clan, able to tell stories of their heroism and reflect on their lives without fear of dying tomorrow to tooth or claw. the younger members of the clan swear they can see the holy stardust flaking off their paws when they walk, thus their name.
kit — the future of the clan. these individuals are 0-5 moons old.

It happened while he was hunting. Samuel was crouched low, eyes on the mouse in front of him. One step forward. Then another. He was poised perfectly to strike. Then a weight landed on his haunches, sending him sprawling. His first thought was annoyance. The mouse had run away, whatever had landed on him had cost him his catch.

His second thought was pain.

Samuel tried to remember his brief fighting instructions, but it was hard to think straight through all the adrenaline. He dropped to the ground, rolling onto his back, and then kicking out with his hind legs. Whatever had landed on top of him had gone flying, giving him enough time to scramble onto his paws.

Samuel squinted into the small pocket of forest surrounding him. Whatever had attacked him had retreated. The forest looked as peaceful as always, and the only evidence of his struggle was a few torn clumps of grass.

Samuel began to back slowly away from the trees, into the safety of the open muddy terrain. As soon as he was clear, he sprinted to find the rest of his patrol. If only he could have seen his attacker.

And when Samuel got back to camp, and Cloudbreeze saw his injuries, the old medicine cat looked alarmed for the first time since Samuel met him. Samuel spent the night in the medicine den in a poppy seed-induced haze, lulled slowly to sleep by the hushed voices of his leader and medicine cat.

"Now isn't the time for your games, Brindleleap!" Zephyrrush snapped.

"No no- Zephyrrush I-I think he's right," Bramblestorm squinted.

A young she-cat came closer, padding calmly towards the group of warriors. She looked around curiously, stopping occasionally to sniff her surroundings. Brindleleap's fur began to bristle and he let out a low growl, but was given a jab in the rips by Zephyrrush as a warning.

"Ooooooh! There's more cats heeeere!" The she-cat meowed in a soft tone.

She was obviously young, and very curious. She blinked her large yellow eyes at the group of cats and stepped closer, stretching her neck out to inspect them. She began to sniff Brindleleap, which earned her a swat on the nose from the brown tom. The stranger flinched and leaned away from him, rubbing her muzzle with her paw.

"Mmm that wasn't very nice," She sighed, frowning. Her voice was smooth and airy, almost like she was trying to sooth someone.
"I thought we were friends."

"I don't even know you!" Brindleleap spat. "Don't stick your nose in my face you freak!"

"Oooooh, sooooorry. Marigold forgot to introduce herself!" The molly blinked slowly. "Hellooo! I'm Marigold!"

Zephyrrush leaned towards Bramblestorm and put his mouth to her ear. "I think this young cat hit her head," He whispered to his deputy. "She's acting quite strangle."

"Oooh noo! Marigold is alright!" This startled Zephyrrush and Bramblestorm.

"Uh- Marigold, was it?"

"Yeeeeeeeees ma'am!"

"Marigold, where are you from?" Bramblestorm stepped toward the young cat.

"Unimportant as of todaaaaaay! Marigold was sent to you!" The pale she-cat exclaimed. "The sparkly cats in the sky! They said that Irisclan needed Marigold!"

"W-What?" Bramblestorm was caught by surprise. How did this stranger know their clan? Was she a spy? No, she was too... clumsy to be a spy. Was she really sent by Starclan though?

"Should we take her to Horizonstar?" Zephyrrush asked.

"Ooooh yes please do!" Marigold chirped happily.

"Well, I guess so." Bramblestorm shrugged.

➣ Willowpool raced through the flower field, her legs pumping hard. She would not be caught! The calico pressed on faster, her paws beating hard on the grass. A triumphant cry came from behind her, and she realized her chaser was getting closer. The molly pushed herself faster, and she heard a thump hit the ground.

She skid to a halt and turned around, panting. I heard her fall? Where is she? Did she get h-

Willowpool's thoughts were interrupted as someone barreled into her, causing both of them to crash to the ground. WIllowpool let out a yowl of suprise.

"I win!" Currentbreeze purred, pinning Willowpool down underneath her.

"Oh you snake! I thought you were hurt!" Willowpool swatted at Currentbreeze's face playfully.

"That was all apart of my plan," The blue molly chuckled, releasing Willowpool's shoulders.

"Oh shut up, you didn't even have a plan," Willowpool teased as Currentbreeze flopped onto the grass beside her.

"I did!" The older molly shot back.

"What mousebrain has an elaborate plan for a game of tag?" The calico purred, inching closer to Currentbreeze.

"Me," Currentbreeze claimed, nuzzling Willowpool's cheek.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Willowpool blurted out suddenly.

"Yeah of course, what is it?"

"Do you ever want to have a family?"

"Well... what do you mean?" Currentbreeze looked at the molly.

"Like... do you want kits? Do you want a mate?"

"Hm... I... I guess I never really thought about it," The blue haired molly said, sitting him in the grass. "It would be nice, sure. But... I don't really know if I've found the right person yet, you know?"

"Yeah... I get that," Willowpool responded, still stretched out next to Currentbreeze.

"I mean... sure... there's been cats I've thought about having families with but... well..."

"Well what?" WIllowpool sat up next to her.

"I guess I never really could see myself having a future with them," Currentbreeze shrugged. "It's just... a passing thought."

"Is there anyone that you want to have a family with that the feeling didn't go away?"

"Oh, most definitely," Currentbreeze sighed. "But I- Two she-cats can't really have kits. But that isn't my main concern. I just- I don't know if she feels the same way about me."

"What?" Willowpool jumped to her paws. "Are you kidding me? How could she not like you back! You're like- the coolest ever- and you're super pretty too, and you're-you're nice too! Also you're funny, and you're amazing company. You're such a great hunter too and- Currentbreeze you're just amazing! I really don't know how anyone couldn't love you and everything about you."

"You talk like you're in love with me," Currentbreeze teased.

Willowpool's pelt heated up and she turned her head away, her tail tip twitching. There was a moment of silence between the two she-cats. Willowpool suddenly became aware of how loud everything around her was. The birds, the bugs, the frogs, the wind.

"Willowpool?"

The calico molly turned her head back towards Currentbreeze and they locked eyes. She couldn't understand what Currentbreeze was feeling. Her gaze was unreadable. This made her stomach twist into a knot.

"I love you, Currentbreeze."

Currentbreeze sat there, not breaking eye contact with Willowpool. She rose to her paws slowly, not making a sound or saying a word. Willowpool's heart dropped. She had just ruined their friendship, hadn't she? She had just scared her best friend away. Willowpool's heart began to race and she opened her mouth to take back her statement but Currentbreeze raised a paw and silenced her.

"I love you too, Willowpool. I always have."

Willowpool's mouth hung wide open. She had no words. She was in shock. The molly was feeling every single emotion at once, and she had no idea what to do with herself.

"I-I-I-I-"

"Come here you big idiot," The blue eyed she-cat purred.

Willowpool rushed towards her best friend- no- mate- and pressed her face into her neck. Currentbreeze gave her a few loving licks on the top of her head and the calico molly could hear her purring with delight.

"Let's get back to camp," Currentbreeze said after a long moment.

Willowpool nodded, and the two headed back, brushing up against each other the whole way.

- tallthorn is in an exceptionally good mood, excited for his kits with lightrunner. coffeebean is happy for her old mentor.
- houndjaw, fernpelt, and riverhowl discuss the rogue group that they came from
- softlight and honeyfrost spend the afternoon herb-hunting, and wonder about their friend. a sympathetic applefall listens from a distance.
- sparrowstar panics at the discovery of torn-apart snow hares scattered around his den. mintfur helps him to get rid of them, but the leader cannot stop wondering about where they came from

Flintkit quivered at the edge of camp. He had been sent by his mother all the way from KeyClan to BearClan in search of his father. There was still no sign of the ginger tom, though, and whenever he had asked the location of Archthorn, he was met with a pitying look and told to sit still. His bottom was starting to hurt, as it had been a fair while. He suddenly spotted a tom with a ginger pelt coming towards him. He was young, much too young to be Archthorn, but he still had a fatherly air to him. His blind eyes were trained on the general area where Flintkit was sitting. For the first time since he entered the busy BearClan camp, the small tom felt noticed.
“Hello.” The tom purred “My name is Maplechirp. What’s yours?” The tom’s voice was warm and welcoming. The kti wanted to jump on him and hold on for dear life.
“Flintkit.” He said steadily, though fear pounded in his chest. He didn’t know what he was afraid of. Maybe he thought that he would be kicked out, even though the thought was ridiculous.
“Come on Flintkit,” He meowed, scooping his tail around the small tom “I’ll take you to the nursery and get you settled.”
“Do you know where Archthorn is?” The kit meowed, following delicately “My dad is supposed to be here.” Maplechirp gave a curt sigh and continued to walk.
“You had a very long journey.” He said “Why don’t you take a rest and we can talk about your father after.”
“Alright.” Flintkit yawned “But promise you won’t just avoid it like everyone else?”
“I promise.” Maplechirp chuckled “Ratwhisker and I are going to be like your parents now, and we never avoid our kits.” Flintkit smiled and leaned against the pudgy tom’s sturdy legs, happily entering his new home.

Sablepaw watched approvingly as Robinpaw danced around the kits. Doekit laughed giddily as she crashed against the tom’s small legs. Their fur contrasted nicely against each other, but the same loving air filled both cats. Stagkit was reluctantly enjoying himself as well. The young tom had created a manly facade. He rejected any proposal of games, preferring to watch over his sister and making sure she had fun. Doekit was the wild one, and Robinpaw was proud to have captured her attention and good favor. Sablepaw snickered as he watched his little brother scamper around the camp. A loud huff drew his attention away from his littermate to the other apprentice of their squad. Ironpaw flopped down on his side and let out a deep breath.
“My paws ache.” He groaned, wriggling closer to Sablepaw.
“Well, I would think so.” the other tom snorted “You just spent the past hour lugging bundles of herbs from the mountain patches.”
“Yea, well at least Pumpkinseed has all his collection now.” He meowed, shivering as a cold burst of wind ruffled his fur. Sablepaw braced himself against the breeze.
“It’s going to snow soon.” He said absentmindedly, looking up at the heavy dark clouds that bobbed along the horizon. Ironpaw hummed.
“Hopefully the prey stays warm.” He meowed “I’ve heard it gets stringy whenever it’s cold out. I hate just the thought of it.” Sablepaw wrinkled his nose. Neither of the toms had seen a leafbare yet, but they had heard stories, both bad and good, about the frigid time. Honestly, Ironpaw didn’t think it sounded that bad. The cold weather could give him an excuse to huddle against a certain tom…

Falconfeather’s throat was clogged. Or at least that's what it felt like. He tried to swallow, but his tongue felt like it took up his whole mouth. He shifted nervously from paw to paw, unsure what to say.
“Come in, Falconfeather, I can hear you rustling out there.” A voice called light-heartedly from the elder’s den. Inside, Ashtail beckoned the young tom forward, flicking his tail tip in welcome. The tom was blind, but his hearing had more than compensated for his loss of sight. The grey tom’s silver hairs were covered, unlike Elmstar’s. The warrior felt instant guilt. He really just called his mom old. Shaking his head, he let his ear flap about, whisking away any nervous thoughts.
“Hello, Ashtail.” He began “I wanted to talk to you ab-b-bout s-something.” He sat down and curled his tail tightly over his paws. Ashtail shifted and looked at him, a small smile on his muzzle.
“Go on.”
“Okay.” Falconfeather took a deep breath “I wanted to tell you about my feelings for Thistlewing. I know she gets the final say, b-but I wanted to ask for your permission. I want to ask her to b-b-be my mate. I know she’s been struggling alongside the rest of us, but she is truly so strong. I would b-b-b-be honored to have her by my side. And I love her...more than anything. I-” He was interrupted by the raising of Ashtail’s paw. The elder gently rested it back down and gave a hearty, but gentle laugh.
“Save the sappy stuff for when you ask her.” He purred “I don’t need eyes to see how much you care for Thistlewing. I appreciate you asking me, but I would never object to your partnership. You’re a good tom, Falconfeather, and as long as you treat my daughter well, I ardently wish you the best.” Falconfeather felt relief calm his beating heart.
“Thank you, sir.”
“Oh, please.” Ashtail chuckled “No need to be so formal. I do believe we’ll be family soon. Have you told Elmstar yet?” Falconfeather nodded, then realized Ashtail couldn’t see it.
“Y-Yes.” He stammered “Just last night. She seemed very happy.” Ashtail hummed and itched behind his ear.
“Well,” He sighed “I hate to kick you out, but I’m running late for my mid afternoon nap. Best of luck. Keep me updated.” He gave a blind wink and rested his chin on his paws. Falconfeather smirked and stood to his paws. He caught a glimpse of a sleek grey pelt sitting outside and his chest warmed. He had gotten Ashtail’s blessing, now he just had to find the courage to ask Thistlewing to be his mate.
