Blueblaze stirred, hearing a voice call out to him. "Blueblaze,
we've been assigned to the dawn patrol." With a yawn, the tom
rose from his mossy nest and padded out of the den. If he found
it strange only he and one other cat were on the patrol, he made
no comment. It wasn't until they were far away from the camp
that he began to get a sense something was wrong about this
situation. It was still slightly before dawn, meaning the dawn
patrol shouldn't be leaving right now. He turned to his Clan
mate, jaws open to ask them why they had gone out so early,
when claws suddenly slashed across his throat. Blueblaze let
out a strangled cry, hopelessly trying to fight back, but to no
avail. He felt his life slip away as the killer slipped away into
the underbrush.
Watch out, ThunderClan! There is a murderer among you!
