ᴼ Willowpaw's tail flicked side to side, her eyes flicking around the forest where her assessment was taking place - her face flushed as she remembered her failure last time. Thankfully, though, the ground was dry and there wasn't anything to slip on - although that didn't mean her assessment wasn't terribly stressful.
xxxShe crept forwards by another tail length - and stopped, controlling her breathing the best she could.

xxxShe darted forwards, and soundlessly leapt onto her mentor's back. The older cat yowled in surprise and crashed to the forest floor, sitting up and shaking themselves free of both their apprentice and the dirt.
xxx"Congratulations! You passed!"
[Willowpaw is now a warrior - Willowstripe!]

ᴼ Hazestar bounded onto the large rock in the centre of camp, clearing his throat as he called a clan meeting.
"As you all know, some of our kits are ready to become apprentices and learn the way of HazeClan. We're gathered here to watch them become apprentices - and should everything go well, in six moons time, watch them bcome warriors."
He cleared his throat once more.
"Hawkkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Hawkpaw. Your mentor will be Inkfire. I hope Inkfire will pass down all he knows on to you."
xxxThe clan cheered, and Hazestar smiled warmly as the other kits bemoaned over not being announced first.

[Hawkkit becomes Hawkpaw and is apprenticed to Inkfire, Ploverkit becomes Ploverpaw and is apprenticed to Lichenpelt, Mottlekit becomes Mottlepaw and is apprenticed to Oceansplash, and Frostkit becomes Frostpaw and is apprenticed to Jayfur.]

ᴼ Twigstorm cleared his throat in an attempt to get Applekit's attention. The little kit's head snapped up, and her soft brown eyes widened.
xxx"Who're you?"
xxxTwigstorm flicked his head towards his former mentor.
"I'm Twigstorm, and this is Ashfang. We're HazeClan's medicine cats. Can you tell us what happened?"
xxxThe kit seemed to consider the older cat's question for a moment, but she eventually bobbed her head in what the two assumed was a nod.
"S-so, my mum and I were going for a walk. I - I think it was on your territory? We're sorry, we didn't mean to. I promise, we didn;t mean to - and there was a lake - the lake was moving real fast, and then -"
The kit cut herself off with a hiccuping cry.
"And then she fell in! And I dunno where she went."
xxxAshfang sighed.
"We can send a patrol out to go look for her, okay?"
xxxThe little kit bobbed her head once more, although it was signifigantly less tentative than before.
xxxSatisfied, the two medicine cats let her be.

[Applekit reveals that her mother fell into the lake.]

ᴼ Bearclaw sat down in front of Lynxheart, the brown and white tabby glancing around everywhere, slightly hunched over as if he worried that the shadows that painted the warriors' den would leap out at him. Keeping her voice soft and coaxing, she got right to the chase.
"What were you fleeing from?"
She found herself following his gaze around the den - despite knowing that the den was perfectly safe, her pelt crawled with anxiety as the tom's yellow-green eyes flickered around the den.
xxx"A rogue group."
xxxBearclaw's breath caught in her throat, and it took her a moment to speak again.
"A rogue group? Here?"
xxxLynxheart shook his head.
"No, no - a long distance eastwards, away from here. I've been travelling for a few days. I joined them because I needed shelter - weather's getting cold, you know? But they got... more violent. Angrier. I wanted shelter, instead, I got fights. So I left."
xxxBearclaw nodded. The tom turned away from her - he'd said enough for his taste, clearly, and so she turned back around and left him alone.

[Lynxheart was fleeing from a rogue group - not on HazeClan's territory, thankfully - a few days' worths of travel eastward.]

ᴼ Timberfall shook his fur out - it'd been a long few days. So much had happened...
He slunk into the warriors' den to greet Alpineblossom, who sat, grooming herself, in the centre of the den. The thick walls of the warriors' den offered some privacy, but Timberfall still kept his voice down.
"Er... so... are you looking for somebody?"
xxxAlpineblossom flinched, her black and white fur puffing up to the point where she almost resembled a hedgehog.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."
She turned away for a moment, not acknowledging Timberfall's presence, although not necessarily ignoring him, either.
"Well, I was separated from my sibling," she admitted, voice unsteady. "They're tough, but... I dunno, I suppose I'm just worried."
xxxTimberfall nodded in understanding - he wasn't sure what he'd do if he lost Slatestone.
"Don't worry. We'll send out a patrol. I'm sure we'll find them."
xxxAlpineblossom nodded her thanks, but said no more.
[Alpineblossom is searching for her sibling!]

ᴼ [Thornpaw is ready to return to warrior duties!]

ᴼ It wasn't long after the medicine cats' discussion with Applekit when they heard a yowl from the nursery - one of their newer members, and newer queens, Heronstrike. Her yellow-green eyes were clouded over, and she didn't seem to spot the two cats come in until Ashfang tentatively nudged her.
xxx"I think - I think the kits are coming," she managed, blinking wildly.
xxxTwigstorm nodded.
"Err - yes, they are. Just breathe, it'll be okay, we promise."
xxxHeronstrike nodded, her jaw set.
Despite her panic in the beginning, the rest of the ordeal went smoothly, and four more little kits joined the clan.

]Heronstrike gives birth to four kits. One is half deaf.]

ᴼ [Although the clan will surely mourn their clanmates' passing, the dark forest accepts the souls of HazeClan's lost. They watch over Hazestar with careful eyes - his lives are dwindling, and so they worry.]

ᴼ The medicine cats hadn't had amazing luck with herbs lately - what they were finding wasn't bad, per se, but although they couldn't deny the... err... usefullness of poisons in certain situations, with leafbare coming, they'd been hoping to find something better for healing the sickness that the cruel season brought with it.
xxxThat was why Twigstorm had to do a double take upon spotting the wintergreen - at first, their luck over the past couple of moons had led him to believe they were deathberries. His confusion only lasted for a mere few moments though, as he quickly realized that the herb he was looking at was actually wintergreen. With a smile, he leaned forward and pulled the herb out of the ground, turning to face his former mentor, who, to his delight, was carrying a ragwort leaf.
xxxPleased with that day's turnout, the two headed back to camp.

ᴼ Daffodilpetal and the rest of her patrol scoured the forest for any sign of prey. For the first short while, there was nothing, the only sound being the crunching of leaves underfoot and the only thing they could see was each other and the barren trees, now that leaf-bare was just around the corner and all the leaves had tumbled from the branches of the trees.
xxxStill, Daffodilpetal gestured for the rest of the patrol to go on ahead and bounded up a particularly tall tree. Halfway up, she spotted the long, brown body of a squirrel, and smiled to herself, crouching down before pouncing at the creature.
xxxIt squealed in shock, and Daffodilpetal closed her jaws around it before shimmying her way down the tree.
xxxAt the bottom, she was greeted by the rest of her patrol - Smokepetal had a shrew in her jaws, and Mossystone held a bird, a broad smile spreading across the other warriors' faces, even with the prey in their grasp.
xxxMeowing her congratulations, Daffodilpetal and the rest of the patrol bounded back to camp with high spirits.

xxx ᴼ Lichenpelt's patrol chattered breezily amongst themselves as they strode through camp. The black tom's tail flicked as he told a particularly enthralling story about -
xxx"Hey! Squirrel!"
xxxLichenpelt whipped around with a surprised yelp at the sudden noise, glancing to where the elderly warrior - Buzzardflight - gestured.
xxxThe younger tom took off in a run, his legs thumping against the ground as he darted through the brambles after the long-bodied creature. He lost it in a bramble thicket, and shook his fur out with a grumble when he realized he'd lost it.
xxx"Hey. Looking for this?"
xxxLichenpelt snapped his head up, chuckling when he spotted Littleflame sitting in front of him, the squirrel hanging in his jaws.
"How'd you get it?"
xxxThe other warrior let out a mrrow of laughter.
"Wasn't hard! It raced through the thicket - got away from you, of course, but it went right into my paws! Can you imagine that?"
xxxLichenpelt laughed and shook his head. They returned to the rest of the patrol to see that they'd had luck with the prey as well - Panthertuft had a rabbit, and Buzzardflight a shrew.
xxxPleased, the group headed back to camp

ᴼ [Nothing happens on Rainsong's patrol]

xxxᴼ Inkfire's patrol was mostly uneventful, really - at least until they came across a large, lumbering, grey-and-white cat approached them with what looked like a dazed, or even bored look in their amber eyes. They sat down in front of the group and gave themselves a quick grooming before turning around.
xxx"Ah, hello. Clan cats, correct?"
xxxInkfire sputtered, shaking his head wildly.
"Er - I - yes, that'd be us. And you are?"
xxx"Wishing to join."
xxx"I'm sorry?"
xxx"I wish to join your clan. I'm not really how much I share your beliefs, but the weather - it's getting cold, you see. And I'm sure I'll warm up to the lot of you soon, right? You seem like a jolly bunch."
xxxInkfire flicked his tail awkwardly, not entirely sure what he was supposed to say to that.
"Er - yes, of course. Follow us."
xxxTrying to shove the odd meeting to the back of his head, Inkfire and the rest of his group escorted the cat back to their camp.

[Inkfire's patrol finds a warrior]

xxxxᴼ Wrenfeather's patrol was relaxed, boring, really, until Juniperclaw made the mistake of dashing forwards o investigate a scent without alerting the rest of the patrol.
xxxThe patrol didn't have time to warn their clanmate as the molly stepped into a hole - likely dug by a rabbit was... err... interrupted by the clan while trying to create it. The hole didn't go very deep, but Juniperclaw still flipped over and crashed into the ground. When they came back up, their paw was (thankfully) okay, if sore, but she'd accidentally scraped herself with all her flailing about as she tried to right herself.

[Juniperclaw is injured on the patrol. The injury is minor, however, so all she requires is x1 tormentil and then she can return to her regular duties]

xxxxxᴼ Adderstrike bounded over a rock, hopped over a rabbit burrow, and sniffed the air. He and three others had been sent out, to hopefully find Applekit's mother and Alpineblossom's sibling.
xxx He had a bit more faith in the latter - the water was fast-moving, tossing and turning everything that fell in - including cats.
xxxAnd so, when he came across the body of a cat who resembled the poor kit, although his stomach flipped, he wasn't exactly... shocked.
"Err - uh - I think I've found Applekit's mother."
xxxBadgerstrike bounded up to him from where he was searching.
"You did? That great! Oh -"
The grey and white tom stopped in front of the body and pulled in a sharp breath.
"That's... oh. That's a shame. Poor thing."
xxxAdderstrike nodded solemnly.
They met up with the other half of their patrol a few minutes later - thankfully they'd had more luck.
xxxA brown tabby stood between Tigerleap and Oceansplash, their tail licking anxiously.
xxxTigerleap beamed.
"They're looking for their sibling too! And when they described them, their appearance and personality matched Alpineblossom's perfectly!"
xxxAdderstrike beamed, and glanced back anxiously at the body.
At least one cat would be reunited with their family today.

[The patrol finds the drowned body of Applekit's mother - poor kit! However, they have more luck with Alpineblossom's sibling, and succesfully find them]

ᴼ [I realized that your clan is much larger than my original hunting rolls were built for, so I modified them so you could actually have a chance to get the right amount of prey you needed. These were still very lucky rolls, though!]

Turtledove gazed down at the four fluffy kits before her, her heart swelling with pride. Today was the day that all of them would make the trip to QuickClan's camp. There Turtledove would be giving her two best friends, their kits. She would miss them dearly, however she knew she would be able to come visit and they could come visit. "Alright you four. Are you ready to go meet your guys' daddies!?" she meowed excitedly, a huge grin on her face. Each kit gave an excited meow in return, smiles on their faces as well. "Alright my little stars, let's go get your sister Panthertuft and then head out." Turtledove purred, exiting the nursery with Dandelionkit, Dovekit, Finchkit, and Cricketkit following closely behind her.

It didn't take long for Finchkit to take off towards the warriors' den to find Panthertuft, little Dandelionkit in toe behind her. Both Dovekit and Cricketkit stuck close to Turtledove, not wanting to overwhelm the warriors' den with kits. Turtledove watched as the two she-cats dashed off, unable to hold back a laugh as she watched them go. "Slow down you two! She's not going anywhere. She remembered today was your last day here. She'll be waiting." Turtledove chuckled, giving a small shake of her head. As if on cue, Panthertuft's fluffy self emerged from the warrior's den only to be attacked by Finchkit and Dandelionkit. "Gotcha!" the two she-cats shouted in unison. Looking down at her paws Panthertuft smirked, rolling her eyes a bit before dramatically falling onto her side. "Oh no! They got me! Mom help!" Panthertuft laughed, letting the two kits crawl over and on top of her. Turtledove laughed once more, rolling her eyes a bit. "You're too much." she meowed. As Turtledove and the other two kits approached, both Dovekit and Cricketkit joined in on crawling all over Panthertuft.

Turtledove stood and watched as the kits attacked Panthertuft, a huge smile on her face. Panthertuft had stepped up over the past few moons, often helping Turtledove out and giving her a break every once in awhile. Now it was time for them to say good bye, but not forever. "Alright everyone... It's time to get going. I'm sure Falconflight and Cyanslash are very excited to finally get your goobers home." Turtledove chuckled. The kits and Panthertuft paused in their play, each one giving a small nod. It was a bit upsetting for them all, but like Turtldove had explained many times they where all welcome to visit as Hazestar and Redstar had approved of the visits long before the four kits where born.

The journey was long, but very eventful as the kits kept both Turtledove and Panthertuft highly entertained. Finchkit had taken the lead, but remained mindful to stay relatively close to the two warriors in case anything where to happen. She would make a fine warrior one day, maybe even lead QuickClan. Dndelionkit kept ooing and ahing at new things, often going up to look at the unique plant or rack her eyes shinning with curiosity. Dovekit and Cricketkit kept close together alongside Panthertuft, their eyes also sparkling with curiosity, but remained close to safety. After some more time passed the strange group of cats arrived at the QuickClan border. "Alright you guys. Falconflight and Cyanslash shall be arriving soon. Then from here we will all head to QuickClan's camp together. Are you excited?" Turtledove asked. "Yeah!" the four kits chimed in together.

Later that day after the majority of patrols and training sessions had been done, Jayfur had decided to round up his siblings for a small hang out. The last time they had all been together was on the day their mother passed away. Since then it had seemed as if they where avoiding one another. However Jayfur had to admit he had other things, more like a she-cat on his mind since then. Normally he would go out and sneak off to see Woodbloom up by the lake, but recently she had been unable to make it due to being with kits. He was excited to be a father and couldn't hide it any longer. Today he would tell his siblings, knowing Marshpool would be the one to be more excited then Batwing or Raveneyes. "Hey Jayfur, you gonna just sit there all day in the clouds or you gonna join us? I mean this was your idea." Marshpool called over to him, a hint of a laugh in her voice.

Snapping out of his thoughts Jayfur padded over to join his siblings giving each one a small nuzzle before following the three out of camp. "So we decided to head out to the old tree down by the lake. The old get together spot." Raveneyes spoke, glancing over his shoulder at Jayfur and Marshpool. Both cats gave a small nod before Jayfur spoke up. "Sounds good, it's been awhile since we visited our spot. I wounder if the stick we played with is still there." He chuckled. A small scoff came from Batwing, the she-cat flicking her tail a bit in annoyance. "We're not kits." she hissed. Clearly annoyed her siblings wanted to act like kits again, didn't they realize those days where over and with being a warrior came more responsibilities.

Upon arriving at their hang out spot from moons ago Jayfur, Marshpool, and Raveneyes exchanged looks each one smirking a bit and then pouncing onto Batwing. Batwing let out a hiss, struggling under the weight of her three siblings. "Get off me!" she growled. The three cats got off of Batwing, laughing as they looked down at a sprawled out Batwing. Feeling the pressure disappear she quickly jumped to her paws and turned to face them. "Run." Batwing hissed, glaring at her siblings. Exchanging looks, Jayfur, Marshpool, and Raveneyes laughed and darted off with Batwing in tow. "You guys are so dead!" she yelled, chasing the three cats around in circles. "Not unless you can catch us!" Raveneyes called over his shoulder, his eyes sparkling with happiness. It had been some time since the four of them had been together and had fun likes this. "Yeah! Besides who's the kit now!?" Marshpool teased, smirking as the words came out of her mouth.

The four warriors raced around the clearing and down by the lake's shore, chasing one another for some time. They had been so caught up with chasing one another and having fun that they didn't realize how much time had passed until they finally stop to rest. "So are you still mad at us?" Jayfur asked, leaning up against Batwing. With a heavy sigh the black and white she-cat gave a small shake of her head. "No... You where right... a break from our warrior duties was well needed." she meowed softly. Marshpool and Raveneyes joined the pair, cuddling up against Batwing, the four eventually settling into a nice cuddle pile to watch the sun's fading rays dance across the lake's surface.

If you're confused as to what this means, don't be afraid to ask!]
xxxᴼ [Aspencreek gives birth to four kits. Two are born very weak, but thanks to the herb stores, they're able to save them! However, despite their best efforts, one kit is deaf and one is mute. They've survived the kitting, though, and that's all their adoptive fathers can care about when they hear the news. One raspberry leaf, one chervil, and one ragwort leaf are all removed from the herb stores. All kits carry solid, and those with under half white spotting carry non-white.]

ᴼ [Hazestar falls into the river on their territory, and while he manages to get out, he loses his sixth life to hypothermia upon arriving back at the clan]
xxxᴼ Smokepetal and Duskbreeze are training on the edge of their territory when they decide that a bit of a run is a good idea - the two begin to jog along the territory, and in their excitement, don't realize until it's too late that they've gone over their scent line and have raced into a thunderpath - they only have a moment to realize their mistake before they're hit.]
xxxxᴼ [It was meant to be a relaxing walk, and it certainly started out that way, but while Coppershine walks through the forest, a terrible storm picks up - a branch falls onto the poor, unsuspecting tom - he and the rest of his recently fallen clanmates join the dark forest, with the clanmates who went before them, and waiting for the ones who will come after them.]

As the sun began to rise, the Sanguine Empire did the same, awakening from their slumber or returning from dawn patrols to join together in camp, awaiting the instructions from a Djaevel, the kejser of the clan. Quiet murmurs and groggy shuffling of paws filled the camp as cats moved about, stepping out their den to allow the sunlight to bathe their long pelts.
indent“What do you think we’ll be doing today, Timbermoon?” Grouseskip asked as he pranced alongside the tall brute Timbermoon. Young, indeed, the tom Timbermoon had swiftly earned the reputation in the clan for being particularly cold, a rather harsh cat who kept to himself for the most part.
indentOr, at least wanted to keep to himself. Grouseskip, a slightly younger tom with a energetic personality, had quickly connected to the gruff cat in the moon that they had lived in the Empire. Despite the constant rude remarks of Timbermoon, Grouse had decided to attach himself to him, following him about and always sparking up conversation with him.
indent“We won’t be doing anything together. The Kejser knows my skill as the only guard in the clan, he will assign me in a admirable duty.” Timbermoon puffed out his chest and exhaled sharply, quickly glancing over at Grouse.

With the discovery of Applekit's mother found dead by the lake, the young kit had been miserable and withdrawn from the majority of the clan. She refused to move to the nursery to be with the other kits, as she wanted to stay 'safe'. Her safe place had quickly become the medicine cats' den, but to be more exact it had become Twigstorm's nest. Since the first day she had been brought to the clan Twigstorm was one of the first cats she had met. The petite and friendly tom had shown her kindness and sat by her side patiently until she was ready to talk. "Hey Twigstorm?" Applekit meowed softly, trailing behind the adult tom as he moved about in the medicine cats' den.

On normal days Twigstorm would be off gathering herbs with Ashfang, however with the arrival of Applekit he some how ended up getting stuck in camp watching over the little she-cat. Applekit had grown very close to Twigstorm, although Twigstorm did try to find another cat to raise her she refused. At first Twigstom wasn't sure how he would feel about 'raising' a kit, but as moons passed he had begun to notice her determination and drive. Hearing the she-cat speak his name, Twigstorm let out a purr and paused in mid-step. "Yes Applekit?" he purred, turning to look down at the kit. The little she-cat perked up a bit upon hearing her name before rushing to the front of Twigstorm. "C-can I become your apprentice when I'm older!?" She meowed, her big eyes sparkling with hope.

Surprised by her question Twigstorm's eyes grew wide before returning to normal and a loud purr erupting from the tom's throat. Applekit was so full of life and reminded him of his younger self back when Stormcloud was still around. The thought of Stormcloud caused a pain in the medicine cat's chest, tears beginning to form in the corner of his eyes. Twigstorm was still devastated over the lose of his former mentor, but did his best to remain strong for his clan mates. Seeing Twigstorm become upset caused little Applekit to worry, her smile turning into a small frown. "Please don't be upset with me Twigstorm... I didn't mean to make you cry..." she meowed softly. Hearing Applekit's words broke Twigstorm's heart a bit more, unable to control his actions he pulled the young she-cat to him. There he stood, holding her close as he burred his face into her pelt. "Oh Applekit... You did nothing wrong.. You actually make things feel better." Twigstorm choked out.

Both cats eventually switched to a sitting position and then stayed there for sometime. After crying it out, Twigstorm lifted his head and shook his head a bit. "I'm fine now... Thank you Applekit. You have no idea how much that meant to me." he meowed softly, gazing down at Applekit. "I'm so proud of how tough and eager to learn you are. When you become of age, yes you may become my apprentice." he purred. Applekit looked up at Twigstorm and grinned widely, happy to not only see him feeling better, but also becoming his future apprentice. "When ever your sad, I'll be here to make you feel better. I pwomise." she meowed, giving Twigstorm yet another big hug.

It came to no ones' surprise when Tigerleap and Oceansplash eventually became a brief fling. Back in the days, the two flirty cats use to hang out and chat about their recent fling or who they thought was the most attractive cat was in different clans. "You know I'm surprised we haven't hooked up ourselves." Oceanspalsh joked, gently nudging Tigerleap with her body. The bengal tom chuckled as well and gave a small nod. "You know I'm surprised to. Maybe we should." He teased, winking at Oceanspalash. The two cats grew silent and exchanged glances before busting up into laughter. Many cats in camp looked over at the flirtatious two before sighing and giving shakes of their heads. Tigerleap and Oceansplash had become a bit of a paw-full over the past few moons, causing trouble, plus who knew how many kits Tigerleap fathered by now.

Their back and forth flirting grew each day until the pair finally ended up hooking up. However their fling didn't last long, but rather seemed to strength the bond the two shared between one another. "You know just because we hooked up doesn't change anything." Oceansplash stated. "Your still my best friend... even if your a lady killer." She teased. Tigerleap shook his head and laughed before pretending to be hurt. "Me!? A lady killer? How dare you say such things." He meowed, being over dramatic with a gasp before busting up laughing. Oceansplash pushed the tom, causing Tigerleap to fall to his side and once again dramatically cry out in fake pain. Joking and giggling, the pair carried on for the rest of the day unaware of the mystery that lied before them.

jax sat on a thick branch overlooking the new camp, watching as cats went about
their days. finches chirped on the branches above him, leaves falling as they flew
about. the sky was a brilliant orange as autumn leaves swirled in the air, lost to
the wind. the tom unsheathed his claws and shuffled to the tree trunk before making
his way down in a few swift motions. he stumbled on the last branch and fell to
the ground, face first. “ah... that hurt like hell.” he got to his paws, shaking the
dirt off his pelt. “ouch. you alright?” he looked up to see a concerned nico looking
over him. “yeah. i’m fine, thanks.” “hold on, you have dirt on your forehead.” jax
didn’t protest as nico licked his forehead, spitting the dirt out. “you literally ate
my dust, good job.” a small smile formed on nico’s face. “you’ve always wanted
to say that, haven’t you?” “...yes,” jax let out a sheepish laugh. “it’s dumb, i know.”
“it’s cute. uh, do you wanna share a rabbit?” “i...i'd like that.” nico smiled and turned
to pad to the fresh-kill pile, leaving behind a very flustered jax, who bounded to
catch up with him. nico sat down with a rabbit, jax leaning into him. the two toms
chatted about the recent events that had happened in the clan, at ease with each
other. across from them, pippa sat and watched, oblivious.
xihe’s so cute when he smiles. she let out a sigh as she watched nico stand up and
leave somewhere with jax. “what are they doing?” she whispered under her breath,
about to stand up and follow them when she heard a meow. “where are you goin’,
sis?” the molly looked up to see elliot and catania padding towards her. “oh, um...
nowhere,” pippa stammered, her cheeks hot. “why?” catania let out a snort. “why
so defensive?” her eyes glimmered and elliot let out a gasp, realizing who she had
been watching. “you like nico. you were going to go confess your love,” elliot's eyes
narrowed. “but why?” pippa scoffed and stood up. “i...i wasn’t actually going to
confess anything!” she looked down at her paws, flushed. “i was just going to follow
him and jax to see what they were gonna do. you know, guy stuff?” catania burst
out laughing, leaving pippa very confused. “what? don’t friends do... guy stuff
together?” elliot touched pippa’s shoulder with his tail, stifling laughter.
“they’re not friends, pippa. they’re gay.” pippa’s face went blank as she realized
what was happening. “that explains everything! but... of all the toms he could’ve
chosen, he chose jax?” his name rolled off her tongue with disgust; the two shared
a mutual hate for each other after the events at the cliff. “hey, jax is a good cat,”
catania frowned, her blue eyes glaring at pippa. “why else would he have been
chosen as deputy?” elliot interrupted before pippa could speak. “why are you mad
at him anyways?” pippa hesitated before answering. “i... i don’t know! i figured

was a fluffy ball of fury as she continued on, getting louder. “he barely talks to
me now and he acts like i’m this... this monster! I’M NOT A MONSTER!” she yelled,
breathing heavily. catania and elliot’s faces were expressionless, both shocked by
their sister’s sudden outburst. “i’m... i’m sorry. i’m gonna go cool off in the warriors’
den.” pippa stammered, backing away before turning around and sprinting to her nest.
xi“that was... intense,” catania murmured, elliot nodding in agreement. "we'll let her
cool off." the pair stood in silence before elliot spoke. “so, you and jaclyn, huh?” catania
shoved him playfully, turning to walk to the fresh-kill pile. elliot scurried after her,
laughing. “tell another cat about this and you’ll regret it,” catania meowed,
clearly embarrassed.
xijulius sat by the nursery, watching as the kits clambered over him. chip, peanut,
and bubbles slept soundly, snoring peacefully as their three younger denmates
played. “your ears are so big!” roscoe squeaked, batting them playfully. the fight
against zedd and applemist had taken a toll on the leader, taking away one of his
eyes and confining him in camp for 3 moons. the shamans figured that interaction
with his clanmates would help pass the time and form stronger bonds with them.
he watched as adelaida and acacia tussled with each other, each sister giggling
with joy. they rolled in front of julius and acacia leaped out at him. he recoiled
at her touch, sending roscoe sliding off his back with a small thud and yelp of
pain. “oh, i... i’m sorry.” he stood up as he saw ghost approaching with a worried
look on her face. she slowly opened her mouth to speak but julius cut her off.
“i’m fine. i’ll... i’ll just be in my den.” he padded towards the large tree that
towered over his den, ducking his head as he entered the hollow trunk. he curled
up in his nest, laying his head on his paws, craving the warmth of another cat.
"i can't hurt anybody else." he whispered to himself, before drifting asleep to the
sound of water gurgling in the stream outside.

Ashpaw curled his tail around his paws. The mud made his leg fur spikey and the rain had paused just long enough for the cats to have a meeting. BearClan has lost their only elder the night before. Oaktooth didn’t do much. In fact, Ashpaw has hardly acknowledged his existence. The old tom rarely spent time outside his den. Constant mumbling echoed through the elder’s den, clearly showing that he wasn’t exactly alone in his thoughts. Minkblossom said he had died from old age, but Ashpaw could’ve sworn he saw some white specks of foam around his mouth. He was no medicine cat, but he did know foaming of the mouth was the effect of poisoning. But who would poison an elder? A helpless old cat? Every cat had their speculations but no one dared convict. Not that it mattered. There were more important matters. Viperstar has called his first official meeting as leader.

“All cats old enough to train, gather beneath the outcrop!” He yowled, his deep voice echoing throughout the stone enclosed camp. The cats settled in the wet clearing and moved their eyes up to their leader. Most of them were reluctant to admit Viperstar’s position. He had killed Slatestar, of course, and cats tended not to like killers. Unless those cats were Lionclaw and Otterfur. Alas, StarClan had granted him his nine lives, so no one could argue the legitimacy of his rule. Ashpaw found himself getting lost in thought. He couldn’t really tell what the tom was rambling about. Something like ‘patrols...frequent...liners...” and what not. Ashpaw didn’t care. He was too focused on his mother. Rabbitspark had been doing surprisingly well the past few moons, considering her mate and daughter died just a few moons ago. Now, she only had her son. He was practically the spitting image of Cindertail and the personalities matched as well, though he wasn’t quite as outgoing as his father. He loved to laugh and joke around with his friends. He and Thunderpaw were especially good friends. Thunderpaw was very muscular and bulky, and Ashpaw was a lot more lithe. The two would constantly hold competitions to see who could race to the other side of camp first, who would win in a wrestling match, who could catch the most prey, and things like that. All day long the two young toms would try to outdo eachother while Hawkpaw and the rest of the female apprentices rolled their eyes every time the two boys tumbled their way. Sometimes Hawkpaw would join in as well. She was good at sprints and a great hunter. She had the patience of...well...a hawk. She and Thunderpaw were as close as could be, always chatting and sharing meals. She and Ashpaw were close too. Every time Thunderpaw and Ashpaw were together, the brown she-cat was close by. If he didn’t know better he might’ve said she had a bit of a crush on Ashpaw.

An indignant yowl broke the apprentice free of his train of thought. Weaselfur was lashing his tail and staring Viperstar down. The warrior was old, but he still had the spunk of a newly made apprentice. Ashpaw adored Weaselfur. In his opinion, he was the best warrior. “Hasn’t it crossed your mind that we’ve skipped two stone drawings?” The warrior hissed. Viperstar merely flicked an ear dismissively. “I see no problem.” He meowed nonchalantly. He turned to face another cat, but Weaselfur wasn’t finished. “The problem is we had a deal with that bear. If we don’t go, we’ll catch his fury.” Viperstar lashed his tail and flattened his ears. “So you’re saying you’d rather send up your clanmates to be killed. Isn’t that what Slatestar’s problem was?” He hissed. “I’m saying I’d rather one cat die that all of us. No offense, but I don’t want to be ripped to shreds by rows of razor sharp teeth.” Viperstar blinked. “You’re being selfish. You’d sacrifice a friend to save yourself-“ Weaselfur cut him off. “I just don’t understand why you’re so intent on bringing us destruction. If you wanted to rule us, at least make sure we’re safe. This is not safe. We’d be better living in the rain alone than here at this point. Viperstar, I will always remain loyal to my leader and my Clan, it’s my duty as a warrior, but I will not stand idly by and watch you destroy our Clan. Send a cat, don’t send a cat. Either way, the result falls on your shoulders.” Viperstar slithered down from his lookout spot. “So you want to leave?” He challenged, getting in Weaselfur’s face. The warrior was a whole head taller than the leader, but that didn’t seem to curb Viperstar’s determination. “I never said that-“ Weaselfur explained. “You said that you’d be better off freezing and alone.” The leader cut in “If that’s the case, then go. I don’t need weak, disloyal cats plotting behind my back.” His olive eyes swiveled to look around at his Clan. “I’m sure more of you feel this way,” He boomed, earning small shuffles and murmurs from the surrounding cats “if you want to escape, now’s your chance. You leave and live your life in solitary, or you stay here and do as I say. I am your leader. You are to respect me. If you dont, the camp enterance is open. You know your way out.” No one moved. Weaselfur was still glaring at the leader through slitted eyes. Campionfang and Turtlegazd muttered to eachother and several cats shifted uneasily. But everyone stayed where they were. Viperstar took a confident breath and a sneer parred his muzzle. “That’s what I thought.” He meowed silkily, turning and flicking Weaselfur with his tail. “Now all of you get out of my sight.”

Ashpaw was exhausted. Long days of training had become more and more frequent. Viperstar wasn’t bad kidding when he said he wants donky the strongest warriors in his Clan. Poor Darkpaw had failed his final assessment numorous times because he didn’t do things his mentor wanted him to. Ashpaw felt bad for him. Hollypounce had been a warrior for two moons while her brother was still an apprentice praying that he would pass. The Siamese tom was curled up in the back of the den, his body slowly rising and falling. He had his assessment tomorrow. The other nests around Ashpaw were empty except for Hawkpaw. He thought about exchanging a few words with the molly but then he realized she was halfway to sleep and he didn’t want to disturb her. The other apprentices were it galavanting about the territory. Probably getting some night hunting in. Ashpaw couldn’t figure out why. It was picture black out there! But hey, not his problem if Stonepae came back with a smooshed face from running into a tree. The grey tom stepped into the feather-lined moss and curled up, wrapping his tail around his body and resting it near his nose. Ah, this was the spot. Sleep hit him almost instantly. However, instead of the normal dream of lounging lazily by the lakeside with his friends, Ashpaw opened his eyes to see a large clearing. The grass and shrubbery was faded, almost as if part of it was see through, but not all the way. Pale specks of light flickered weakly throughout the terrain. ‘Where am I?’ Ashpaw thought, but his thoughts came out like words. It was as if he spoke them aloud. “You’re in StarClan, my son.” A voice behind him answered. He turned his head to see a dark grey figure approach him. It looked exactly like his father, only he wasn’t limping. “Cindertail?” He asked quietly. The cat appeared fully and nodded with a large smile on his face. “It’s so good to see you again. I promised we would, didn’t I?” Ashpaw blinked in disbelief. “A-Am I dead?” He whispered. Cindertail shook his head. “No, Ashpaw. StarClan has an important job for you.”
