He broke away from his patrol when he heard dog barking, followed by a frightened screech, and ran to where he heard the noise and saw a cat struggling to scale a tree while the dog kept nipping at their heels. Without thinking, he rammed into the dog's side slashed at its eyes when it stumbled, wasting no time to yell at the cat to follow him. He breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the cat's paw steps pound after him and they ran for cover underneath a berry bush. He got a good look at the cat then - white with black and ginger patches, their belly barely swelling with unborn kits - and he promised them that he'd take them back to camp as soon they truly escaped. As soon as the words left his mouth, the two's back fur spiked up in fear as they heard the dog barking after them again. Thinking fast, Hare knew that Heron and his patrol was going to pass through here and quickly told the pregnant cat to follow the trail that would lead them straight to their path. He paused until he saw the cat leave the shelter of the bush and race where he told them, then went the opposite direction to chase the dog away, meeting his end due to bite marks and other injuries... }
