Rocky realizes that he seems to have a lo of work ahead of him. Together the kennel mourns the loss of Bil's pup, but also celebrates the arrival of three other healthy pups.

He also notices that the tenderpaws seem to be having issues learning things. He has a long discussion with all the mentors in his kennel about why this is.

Rocky and Baldr meet with Ullr about finding another intruder so close to camp, and decides to send Baldr with Ullr and Ve to try to find out where they are coming from.

He congratulates Essy and the rest of her patrol in bringing in the wild boar, knowing that it will feed the clan for many moons. He is upset about losing the deer to a mountain lion, but he is thankful that the patrol escaped unscathed. He gathered another group to go hunting a new deer scent, and hoped that the mountain lion would not stay long in their territory.

thallium is located in the middle of huntington beach, california. the rambunctious pack of dogs roam the streets, usually close to the beach and a hole-in-the-wall pizza parlor that they sometimes steal food from. okay, that they always steal food from. the dogs of thallium like to go to the local dog beach when they are feeling hot or just want to hang out. its a good spot for the pack to meet up as well, considering the fact that no human questions why a bunch of dogs are roaming around. the leader of thallium looks for new recruits at the dog beach, but never has any luck. something about the snotty-nosed "housepets" is just plain strange. the pack dogs are very territorial and harsh. if a member of their pack does something wrong, they fight. if a non-member enters their territory or tries to steal from the pizza parlor, they fight. its an all out war when thallium is involved. and the fights are never fair. considering how large most of the thallium dogs are, they shouldn't be this worried about intruders. no dog who ever enters their territory is looking to pick a fight. they usually are hungry or just want to be friends. while the pack understands about hunger, most of the time, they don't understand why dogs would want friends. a pack? sure. but friends? why, what dog has time for friends? unlike most packs, thallium doesn't speak to their ancestors on a regular basis. once every blue moon, they will send a small group of dogs to go under the pier and speak to their ancestors. the pier holds many secrets, which the dogs find rather amusing. who knew that a dirty, stinky pier housed slimy seals and secrets underneath it? when the thallium dogs travel to the pier, they use a shell to listen to their ancestors. they keep the shell in a hole that they dog out of sand, which happens to be why they lose it all the time. the only time of day that the shell works, is when the moon is at its highest peak. besides having the pizza parlor, some of the dog beach, and under the pier as their territory, thallium usually hunts for food at the local park. most packs would never go to a park to hunt, but the thallium dogs don't see a reason not to. sure, there are humans around during the day...but what about at night? they find lots of yummy prey at night in the park, it usually consists of bunnies, rabbits, birds, and sometimes, on rare occasions, deer. they also find food outside the pizza parlor by the dumpsters. the dogs are always appalled at how humans throw away perfectly good garbage in the dumpsters. yes, thallium is a very tricky and secretive pack. they have no religion, no gods, and no homes to call their own.

Number of Dogs: one || Season: spring
one ♀ || zero ♂

a female german shepherd sat on the dog beach, her long fur blowing in the wind. she watched as the ocean crashed into the sand, getting all humans and dogs that strayed close wet. the german shepherd sighed, she was so hungry, but had no where to eat. sure, she could go to the nearby park and managed to scrounge up a rabbit or something. it was high-noon, so the streets were busy with tourists and regulars. there was no way she would risk stealing food from the pizza parlor at this time of day. too many people. she was about to turn around and head back up the beach, when a stocky bulldog came lumbering towards her. "hello, ikaika." the bulldog said kindly. "whatcha up to?" the german shepherd, ikaika, looked at the bulldog, her tail wagging in greeting. "hello hulk." she woofed. "nothing too grand. i'm probably going to go under the pier for a while." ikaika sighed as her friend gave a mischievous grin. he nodded to a man who was sitting on a towel nearby. "i bet roger-dear would let you eat some of his meat." hulk licked his lips. "he always lets me do it." ikaika looked towards the man, her mouth watering as he took out a stack of sliced ham. "n-no." she stuttered. "i couldn't do that." she lifted her nose to the air, the hammy stench wafting around her. "i'll never understand you, aika." hulk grumbled as he began to walk away. "you street dogs are crazy." ikaika watched as her friend lumbered away, crestfallen that he had left, but also glad because now she wasn't forced to sit by a bunch of humans. she set off up the beach, a strange and unsettling feeling rising in her stomach. she always got that feeling when she left hulk and the beach. maybe its time to find some dogs like me and create our own family. ikaika thought. we'll call ourselves, thallium.

ikaika crossed the street, the moon's light creating an eerie glow. she slowly dragged her tired paws across the cement and entered the park. she sat down and watched as the parkland creatures began to crawl out of their dens. a small bunny hopped out in front of ikaika, making the great dog's mouth water. ikaika ran, her fur blowing in the night's wind. as ikaika went to jump on the small creature, a heavy shape bowled into her. "hey!" ikaika shrieked. "watch it!" the thing that had ran into her growled. "me watch it? how about you watch it?" ikaika turned on her side to see a large, tan and black male dog sitting next to her. "who are you?" she grumbled as her legs lifted her back up. "i'm santos." the dog replied. "who are you?" ikaika stared at the dog called santos and shook her fur. "i'm ikaika. but some dogs call me aika." santos opened his mouth. "don't!" ikaika growled. the two dogs sat in the park, watching their surroundings. "hey, um...santos?" ikaika finally woofed. "what?" santos nibbled on his paw gently. "do you maybe, want to join my pack?" ikaika watched as the larger dog stared at her. "sure". santos blinked. "and look, ikaika, i'm sorry about earlier. i wasn't watching where i was going." ikaika held back a warm feeling in her belly. "um-um yeah, me too." she quickly looked away, why do i suddenly feel awkward talking to him? she thought. "so where's our territory?" santos asked, oblivious to the shepherd's new behavior. ikaika gasped. good going aika. she thought. you forgot about a territory! she looked around the park. "um, the park is our territory. a-and the pizza parlor across the street." ikaika answered uncertainly. "oh! and the dog beach!" santos snickered. "you just came up with all of that right now, didn't ya?" ikaika gave the male dog a hard push. ''shut up!" she looked at her companion and sighed. i think this is going to be fun.

“Cats?” Elias said in annoyance. Sira nodded and shifted her paws. The great dane had joined with her father, Timin, not too long ago. Even though they hadn’t been a part of the pack for long, the young Sira showed great potential, and Elias found himself wanting to spend as much time with her as possible. “Aye, cats.” She confirmed “Jean and I scented them while on our patrol. I dunno why they’re near our territory, but they didn’t seem hostile.” Elias furrowed his brow. “You met them?” Sira shrugged. “Jean wanted to check it out further, and we ran into one of them. We didn’t stay long, though, but we learned there’s a small group of em. Should we tell Jaskier?” Elias tilted his head and sighed. “We should. Hopefully he won’t do anything rash.” A towering brute interrupted their conversation. Sira was tall, but her father was much more well-built and muscular. His long legs led to powerful shoulders, and his neck snaked up to his intimidating face and sharp yellow eyes. “Sira, may I have a word with you?” He asked, deep voice vibrating through Elias’ skull. Sira wagged her tail cheerfully and nodded. She said goodbye and followed her father.

Sira followed Timin to the edge of camp. “What’s up?” She asked. Timin looked at her with a concerned look. She gave a small smile. Her dad always put up a mean act, but when it came to her, he was a gentle giant. Of course, until someone posed a threat, and he would rampage through whoever hurt his only pup. “I’m just not sure if you should be getting so friendly with some of the dogs here.” He warned “We don’t know them. They could be murderers.” Sira flattened her ears in understanding. “Look, dad, I know you’re slow to trusting other dogs after what happened to mom,” She murmured gently “But I really like it here! This could be good for us. Just give it a few more moons so we can settle in, okay?” Timin wrinkled his muzzle, and shifted his massive paws, but the look of happiness on Sira’s face when she was talking to Brandy, or the laughter that rang through the clearing when Elias made a joke made him rethink his decision to leave. “Okay.” He agreed “But I just want you to be safe okay? I love you, darlin’.” Sira giggled and nuzzled her father. “I love you too, dad.” She chirped, pulling away “I’ve got to go help Brandy sort out the hunting patrols, though!”

Jean sorely rubbed his muzzle. “I can’t believe you got scratched by a cat.” Martyn laughed. “Oh shut up!” Jean frowned “It was scary! I forgot how sharp cat claws are.” Martyn leaned over to give his mate a lick. “What did Hampton say?” The dog asked. “Oh, it’s fine!” Jean assured, pressing his muzzle to Martyn’s cheek “Just a scratch. Don’ even need any herbs.” Martyn tilted his head with a sloppy grin. “Just my luck, getting damaged goods for a mate.” Jean’s ears flicked up. “Damaged goods?” He gasped “Oh you little-” He cut himself off, pouncing playfully at his mate. Martyn squeaked, jumping to his paws. Laughter echoed through the hollow as the two males chased each other.

Rocky smiled as he watched the bouncing mutt follow Baldr into camp. He was still upset about so many trespassers recently, but now that he has such a big following, so many tenderpaws getting closer and closer to becoming irontooths, and so many new pups getting closer to being apprenticed; he knew that things would be ok.

He was extremely upset to find an abandoned pup on their boarder, but glad that they had mothers to take care of it. He loved how happy Bil was to be taking care of the new pup, and knew that she would be bringing many new members into the kennel.
