↪ Who knew how fast this pesky rabbit could run? It seemed much smarter than the other rabbits that roamed the land, somehow. It certainly had a pair of powerful back legs, and Almond experienced that by getting kicked several times by that irritating bugger. Exasperated, the patrol finally had gotten ahold of the annoying little thing ── thank goodness.
( Lavender successfully learns the stalking skill! )

↪ She seems to be a quick learner, doesn't she? Summer proves to be quite the brilliant mentor, and Lavender seems quite eager for her next training session. In the meantime, the recruit practices her newfound skill in her own time. Maybe she'll end up impressing Summer next time, even more than she had done this moon
( It definitely took a great amount of courage and bravery, though the bear was successfully chased off! )

↪ While that hefty creature may be strong and quick, the patrol are able to outsmart the bear, and even get a few scratches in bites in. It seems that all had been going well until the bear had let out a powerful blow on Colt, leaving him with a nasty wound. Atlas and Milo were able to safely bring Colt back to camp, and Atlas had ultimately decided that, afterwards, Colt had gotten the worst of the attack. Despite being able to successfully chase off the bear, Colt will need 2 moons of rest and x1 cobweb to heal up.

↪ Honey had traveled quite the way from camp to find the goldenrod, as it appears that something about the cold weather may be hindering the growth of many herbs. Maybe next time it won't take as long to find anything, or maybe next time there will be no herbs found ── you may want to keep your eyes peeled.

↪ The patrol cautiously follows the scent, only to be greeted by a scrawny second. They appear to be on the younger end of being a second, and any sight of its mother is completely out of sight -- what could it be doing out here? Most importantly, will you take them in?
( Yana's patrol comes back with only x1 squirrel, but with something else on mind )

↪ While out hunting, the patrol has scented an elk herd! Their excitement seemed to get in the way of them hunting for much, and hurry back with what they have to tell the rest of the kennel about the discovery. Bring 6 dogs (no seconds) to try to hunt down the elk. Be careful, though, as only going for one elk in an entire herd could cause a disturbance. // Let me know if there's any dogs you don't want me to roll for serious/permanent injuries for or deaths if you do go after the elk!

↪ Clearly, that patrol had done much better prey-wise than Yana's, though it couldn't compete with their finding of an elk herd
( Lola gives birth to one two three four very good puppers! )

↪ It had gone smooth at first, but unfortunately one was born having difficulties with breathing, while another appears to be deaf in one ear after further inspection. Time will only tell if one may survive, and how well the other thrives in the world outside the nursery
( Styx, Koba, Tulio, Theia and Echo learn the fishing skill! As for Calytrix, Triton and Leto, they learn the defense skill!)

a pair of dark eyes glint in the undergrowth. the retriever hunches lower, his claws sinking into the heady earth. as his tail lowers, crisp snow scatters over his back from the brush he lurks in. gentle flakes drift through the clearing he looks into, as he flicks his muzzle. his tongue lolling, the lord prowls forward with a low bark.

nix swivels around, startled. her tail whips nervously as she staggers in front of the other two dogs, desperate to protect her patrol. she winces slightly at the cold look in rutam's eyes. tempestas scrapes at the frosty ground, his glare directed past nix at rutam. but the collie practically senses the husky's glare, and flicks her ear at him.

rutam faced the three dogs, his muzzle wrinkling in a sneer. "well." his voice is scratchy in the crisp, frosty air and temp flinches back slightly, his paws skidding on the cold stone. "well," rutam repeats. "go quickly. remember." his eyes glow with venom as they dart among the small patrol. "remember. no mercy. never any mercy."

"of course not," nix said boldly. a glance from rutam, and tempestas tried to push past the black-and-white dog. "no, stay back," nix snaps, prodding him backward. he opens his mouth to protest, but auruem slapped his fluffy cream tail over temp's maw. "we would never," nix continues, meeting rutam's eyes. "the counties are ruthless."

A nod, and the overlord slinks away, his searching gaze slipping from nix as he disappeared into the forest. tempestas scrambles away from auruem, his tail low and between his legs. "I was trying to help!" he exclaimed, staring at nix. "I wanted to protect you." nix's eyes flooded with warmth, but she shook her head.

"I had it dealt with, don't worry," she assured him; then bringing the two other canines away from the clearing and towards the ice plains.

meanwhile, a saluki flattens her belly against the ground; her gaze never leaving a squirrel which hovered at the base of a tree, nibbling a pinecone. her tail wagged enthusiastically and she shuffled forwards, claws stirring up pine needles. but just as she got close, the squirrel threw aside the cone and streaked up the pine tree.

persici let out a low growl, and jumped at the tree. she dragged her paws desperately at the bark, howling up at the squirrel, which had fled and disappeared. she scowled, flattening herself against the tree trunk in an attempt to climb. another low, mournful howl echoed through the forest as her wet, chocolaty eyes stared up after the rodent.

a large paw whacked her hind flank, and persici slid down onto the earth, turning to glare at a huge collie. he was frowning at her, and shook his head. "really, persici?" he sighed. behind him, persici glimpsed fructus helpless with silent mirth.

with an indignant huff, persici swung past aeris to square up fructus. she shoved the spaniel with her long muzzle, and he rolled slowly onto his side: still weak with giggles. "it isn't funny!" persici snapped, furrowing her brow.

"it really is," fructus gasped, struggling into a sitting position. "oh persy! you wouldn't believe how silly you looked, like a silly cat trying to actually climb-" he broke off as persici narrowed in on him, meeting his gaze flat out and drawing her lips back in a snarl.

"I've said before," she grumbled, "never, I repeat never, call me persy." she spun away, eyes smouldering with annoyance.

Stark jumps in joy as Kalta and him return from their training session. The male had grown so much since the first day he arrived at the kennel with Brutus. Brutus was like a father to him and Stella was like a mother. He didn't remember what happened to his real parents and Brutus wouldn't tell him. He only told Stark that he found him while he searched for a new home. It didn't matter to Stark. Brutus was his best friend and if Brutus wasn't already training Draxx then he would have requested to be his trainee. It bothered Stark whenever he saw Draxx with Brutus. Felix and Draxx were nothing but terrible to Stark. They blamed him for all of their problems and constantly harassed him.
When Stark and Kalta returned from their training, there were more new dogs. A dirty looking mixed breed was being watched by Niko and a Newfoundland with some puppies were conversing with Chi. When the mother saw Stark she cried out "Maximus?!" She ran over and hugged Stark tightly. Stark pulled back confused. "Maximus, I can't believe you're alive! You don't know how long I've been looking for you!"
"Who are you?" Stark replied.
"What? Who am I? I'm your mother of course! I'd recognize that face anywhere, even if the last time I saw you you were just a pup. A mother never forgets her child."
"Mom? You can't be my mom. I was found alone in the woods."
"That was when you were separated from me and your siblings. We had to run from a kennel of invading dogs. I grabbed you sister and you father grabbed your brother. I tried to carry you but you slipped from my jaw. I was heartbroken, but I had to leave you behind. I'm so sorry Maximus."
"My name's not Maximus, it's Stark. And if what you're saying is true then you left me alone in the woods?!"
"I didn't want to, I swear. I had to keep running because the Rose Grass dogs were after us."
Kalta cut in to the conversation. "Did you say you were being chased by the Rose Grass kennel?"
"Yes, they invaded our small territory and chased us away. And not long afterwards they caught up to me and my mate and killed him. It was either him or me, and I was pregnant with these pups then."
"Could I ask you to come with me and explain your story with our alpha?"
"Of course. As long as I'll have time to spend with Ma- Stark."
"Yes, there will be later. Thank you." The two dogs walk off and Stark was left there feeling very confused and conflicted.

The new prisoner had tried to run. They always do. But they always underestimate Niko. He caught up to the trespasser and even out-battled her. She was taken down easily. After some hostile yelling and a bit of physical "convincing" Niko found out her name is Leicester. She claimed that she was just passing through, but Truskett watched her for a while as she attempted to follow the patrol. It wasn't a smart choice for her. Niko watched over her as Garland dealt with the new whelper. He caught her eyeing Captain and Summer, newer members of the kennel. Niko made a mental note. Any suspicious activity from the new prisoner wouldn't be taken lightly. Niko was in charge of the prisoners and he planned to keep this one alive and in control.

Summer trotted over to Granite and sat by his side. He was her only trustworthy companion. He was sent by the ancestors to her as an assassin when she was alpha of her old kennel, the Swinging Blades. She knew she could trust him with her life and he would do anything she asked of him. For a short while, they were separated, but the ancestors must have plans for them. She asked Granite "What do you think of the new prisoner? Do you think Garland is being too paranoid?"
The speckled dog answered "I'm not sure. She could be a part of the Rose Grass kennel. But I have not come into contact with any of those dogs."
"Yes, but I have. And they promised me an opportunity I couldn't pass up. The last time I talked to one of them, they said that they were sending one of their members to us. But that was early last moon. Either way, that may be her. I have to get her alone so I can receive her instructions. I can count on you to stick with me. We will take this kennel down and it will be mine."

the fight had been long and tiring, but in the end the pack of regretful fate brought home a victory. the bear however, proved to be a strong enemy, and fought back, ultimately injuring colt. the hound flew a few meters away from the battleground, almost under the paws of fenrir and lavender. the older pup looked quite upset, but fenrir, used to see injuries back at the place where he was born, was quick at spurring his friend to run back to the church to call atlas and milo.

"you were there?!" atlas exclaimed, lowering his ears. milo whispered softly, imaging nemesis' wrath. "do you have an idea on the danger you ran into?" the shaman scolded the pups. fenrir did not bow to his worried words, though. "you have to go there, atlas! colt has been injured by the bear and has a large gash on his back!" the pup insisted. atlas sighed, but nodded, urging his trainee to follow the apprentices back to the battlefield. when they reached the edge of the forest though, atlas shooed lavender and fenrir, snarling not to dare to disobey him. finally, they followed the given order, reiterating to the church. "i don't care if we will be scolded," fenrir commented on the way back home, "because we have helped." lavender did not reply, genuinely worrying about the consequences of their actions; fenrir was the alphess' pup, but she was on trial to prove her loyalty to the pack. she really loved it, but would nemesis chase her away for bringing fenrir close to the battle?

atlas and milo were back a few minutes later. lavender was taking care of the preys, piling them neatly in the storage. "colt! how are you feeling?" she ran to the hound, who nodded slowly. "i've been feeling better, but i'll survive. thank you for calling the healers." he said gently. "the bear looked tired. the fight might end soon." milo said, ears perked up enthusiastically. the younger dogs nodded, feeling worried but still relieved.

around an hour later, an howl echoed in the church, signaling that nemesis and the dogs were back. fenrir and lavender ran to the entrance, seeing that the fighters were exhausted, but safe. "the vbear has been successfully chased away. now atlas, tell me about colt." the alphess spoke. the shaman had to mention the presence of fenrir and lavender close to them, enraging the alphess. "it was my idea! i really wanted to help, and i actually did that." her pup replied immediately, standing in front of lavender. the doberman showed her teeth in anger, but then she just sighed. "i am too tired to start another fight. let me rest and think about this." she just said, walking upstairs to reach the bell tower.

when the sun set down, the alphess called the dogs to gather under the center of the church. "i have throughly thought about what had happened. i admire fenrir and lavender's courage, but they had violated the rules. lavender, i know my pup can convince almost anyone to do anything, but you should have been more careful." he voice was strangely gentle. "the next time i, the alphess, give an order, anyone who disobeys will be chased away from he pack. i won't compromise next time." she moved her eyes away from the trainee after seeing her sigh in relief. "for the courage demonstrated by everyone, i accept you as official members of my pack. your trial has been ended positively. may you feel at home here, and fight to protect our family." she hesitated when she pronounced the word "family", but she was slowly wagging her stubby tail. "tonight, we celebrate our renovated safety. let's eat together." she announced. the pack needed to eat in order to restore its strength, but she was worried; the fresh kill pile was relatively small, and they needed more members to go hunt, not just summer and lavender. after all, colt and almond were supposed to go patrol.

therefore, when the other dogs were sleeping, nemesis sat down at the altar and rose her muzzle up to the roof, glancing at the starry skies fro the broken windows. "please guardian spirit, send me a strong scout that can help us sustain the pack." unaware that the spirit was her mother herja, nemesis climbed the stairs to the bell tower, wrapping her lean figure around fenrir, quickly falling asleep.

The kennel has been steadily getting stronger as each of their members reaches better condition and works to pull their own weight among their allies. Osiris is particularly pleased that a local loner, Tiger, has decided to become a member of their ranks. He's led a fairly solitary existence and is plenty self sufficient - skills that he will be able to teach the dogs of Blue Moon Kennels, with any luck.

Cowboy's paw has healed completely and he is back at his work with a vengeance. He's become a little bit more bossy now that he's up and around but no one seems to mind a bit. His sister, now a mother, is especially proud. Cowboy went to visit the pups and he thought they were all pretty adorable, however one was born with a twisted leg which may affect their status in the pack due to limitations on what they will be able to do in the way of hunting, fighting, and other vital skills. Cowboy hopes that they will be plenty strong enough by then to care for this little one and give them an easy life.

Linette and Felix had a smaller litter, however both of their pups are healthy. Fendi in particular looks like she will grow up to be a real beauty queen and the entire pack is delighted by her merle coloration and stunning blue eyes which are so pale that even this early they are able to tell that her irises will not darken. Felix seems preoccupied and spends a lot of time helping the kennel more than seeing to his litter, and he seems a bit nervous, keeping his tail down and ears at half-mast.

Onyx is very impressed with all of Kayla's hard work and how much she helps the kennel, going above and beyond in her duty to ensure things run as smoothly as possible. Before he found himself living a feral life, Onyx had been a dog from the k9-unit, so he really values hard work and effort. The two begin spending time together when they are free, though this is admittedly difficult because both of them are naturally busy and very industrious workers.

These dogs are feared and respected among the hierarchy, they're known to be overly aggressive towards outsiders and rivals, they may even kill without warning. You don't want to get on the bad side of these canines, lore has it that Fallen Empire killed off an entire pack one by one until there wasn't a dog left under the pack's name. Though, being an ally to this pack will be helpful, they respect those who respect them.

These dogs have tight bonds within the pack, every once in a while dogs break out into fights, but they never end with injuries beside minor scrapes and cuts. The pack is overly protective of its members; hurt a dog and you may not see the light of tomorrow's sun. If they threaten you, you better take it seriously, or learn the consequences. They are low-key pretty lovable, especially the dames, to members, however it's more so tough love.

The territory of Fallen Empire is quite large, though the inside the walls are heavily guarded. The alpha, referred to as Queen or King, after walking for many moons, discovered a fallen castle. She decided this is where she would stay for however long the castle lasted. The old castle has many rooms within it's great walls, this is where canines of different rank would stay, like Knights [ironteeth] would stay in one room, while pups would stay in another their mothers, the apprentices' room is beside the knights; a hole between the stone walls, so the knights could make sure none of the apprentices were getting into to much trouble .
The pack's gathering spot is quite large, variety of plants grow upon the stone, the canines also visit here often to drink from the water that took place in the center.

There once laid a charming and quaint village along the mountainside, the streets often adorned with softly glowing lanterns and dainty flowers. Within the village, there sat a historic temple where humans would worship and pay respects to their ancestors and gods. Dogs were a common animal that inhabited the village, often being kept as house pets or working for their humans with their everyday lives. The life there was relatively well until a raging fire had broken out, and the humans had desperately evacuated their home, leaving the dogs to fend off the flames by themselves. While most of the canines were unable to make it through the blazing storm that tore down the village, the mere amount that did live had established a kennel within the abandoned village, calling it their home.

Their main area of nesting is the temple, as it was one of the least affected shelters from the fire, meaning it's presumed safer than the burned down homes from predators. The more fragile and vulnerable the canine, the closer they have their nests in the shadowy and more secure areas. The guards (ironteeth) are often placed near the open pathways of the temple so they have the ability to fend off and protect their kennel with ease, and hopefully being the first any predators would have to deal with rather than anyone who is unable to defend themselves. While most of the homes were burned down and much too accessible for predators, a few supplies may be stored within the homes, covered by small charred planks wood, stones, plants and dirt.

The name Alcmene's Village was deprived from a goddess that the dogs had believed in, even before the burning of the village. Alcmene was the goddess of truth and balance, giving fairness and justice to the world the dogs lived in. The dogs of the village had believed that she was the one that caused the flames that torn through the village, ultimately driving out the humans and letting the dogs claim the land for their own. They continue to worship Alcmene as a goddess, naming their kennel after her.

The prey that scuttles around the area include: shrews, mice, hares, small birds, large birds, goats and deer. Predators that lurk within the territory are: hawks, eagles, wolves, bobcats, cougars and lynxes. Hawks, eagles, and any other bird of prey with piercing talons, mostly aim to target smaller dogs, including puppies who may be out and about for a wander. Larger predators are a bigger threat towards the dogs of the village, known to inflict havoc when one is scenting around the area.
