Herd of Velvet Grass

The heard of Velvet Grass live in more mountainous regions that have a small river flowing down the middle of the territory, dividing the more mountainous terrain from the hills and forested areas. These horses are larger to compensate for the muscle they need to go up and down these hills/mountains and have thicker fur to keep them warmer. They focus on protecting their boarders and herd more than involving themselves in conflict but will not hesitate to step in when needed to help a fellow herd out with a common enemy. The herd of Velvet Grass are ambitious and love to reach high or keep trying until they get their goals. They are social and welcoming but can seem a little much when you just meet them. They value family bonds over much else and treasure every kind horse's lives like their own. This herd has a fairly neutral reputation, from both being friendly to other herds and too aggressive to protect family.

Firefly Herd

Territory
Firefly Herd territory is a meadow among rolling hills. Wildflowers grow in abundance here, as do a variety of trees for shelter.

Their Northern border is a dense forest with pine needles that lay so thick that grass doesn't grow, so they haven't ventured through.

To the West lie mountains that make for rough passage, and are home to a number of wild goats which feel at home on their craggy foothold.

In the East the meadows and hills continue onward for a good distance, but the herd has never needed more land than it currently occupies, and more would be impractical to defend.

Along their Southern border is a river that they can easily safe through, but it is a little deep and may prove challenging for foals or elders.

Reputation
One of the kindest herds in the area is Firefly Herd. They make peaceful gestures upon meeting others and gladly accept alliances when offered.

Overall, they are a herd that doesn't like to get their hooves dirty meddling around in politics. They'd much rather literally be getting their hooves dirty racing around to keep in shape, or playing games of agility with fallen logs and strategically chosen trees.

Personalities
Each horse is an individual, but in Firefly Herd they all tend to be very intelligent, which is one of the things that sets them apart. Their guards trust the groups of scouts that patrol the territory, and their first priority is always to protect the herd from any attack.

These horses have energy to spare, and they're wild when it finally comes time to fight. They are known for biting and kicking, so wranglers and raiders are not safe from either end. Firefly Herd will pay any price in battle to ensure that none of them are enslaved by their rivals.

In times of peace they are calm and docile. In fact, they are very curious about other herds and welcoming toward strangers.

Appearance
The horses of the Firefly Herd tend to have legs and manes that are darker than their bodies. A dorsal stripe is the most common marking, and the most common markings are dun, grullo/grulla, buckskin, or dappled grey. Occasionally a blanket appaloosa will be seen. Other markings that tend to occur are blazes and socks or stockings but pinto and tobiano do not occur, nor do solid coloured horses.

Many of them have a roman nose. They may have any build ranging from lean and lanky through draft horse, but they never have a 'dished face'. Rare but beautiful variations include shorter manes, shorter tails, or hoof feathers.

The Silver Ridge herd lives in an expansive oak forest located in the Silver Mountains. A winding river cuts through their territory, leading through the only entrances to their valley.
They live social lives and love to see new horses, as they are pretty isolated. Silver Ridge horses specialize in speed and intelligence. They accept horses of all manner, as such they are a very diverse pack, ranging from the stocky mountain-horses to the lanky swift-horses.
Will this be your new herd?

Territory The herd of Falinn Raddir lives on a plain, surrounded by mountains on every side. There is a large patch of trees to the east, but otherwise they are spread quite far apart. A river cuts the middle of the herd territory, but it isn't much of a bother for many of the horses.

Reputation & Rules They are a strong herd, often known for their fiesty attitude, intellect, bravery and protection. They have a strong connection with their herd members and don't take to intruders lightly. Rules are present, and punishments can vary greatly depending on what rule is broken.
Romances with other herds are strictly forbbiden, but if a foal was to arise from an inter-herd breeding Falinn Raddir members would be quick to claim the foal as their own.
Respect is to be found within every horse for all the members of the herd, from the youngest foal to the eldest stallion/mare.
WIP

Members Mustang blood runs pure within the herd, and some members can be rather prejudice against those without mustang blood, despite rules in place to prohibit it. While those without Mustang blood are in the herd, unwritten rules prohibit them to be of high rankings as those are saved for the wild horses. White markings and dilutions such as Tobiano, Sabino, Cremello, Champagne, etc, are common within the herd.

Beliefs & Customs Customs and traditions within this herd are unique, and some of the beliefs aren't heard of with any other herd, but some are shared.
Those with white markings or lighter dilutions such as cremello or perlino are often considered sacred, thus often being pushed forwards into leading roles for the luck of the herd. The higher the white the more the horse is praised, this being said the herd has common sense and accepts any colour with open minds.
Foals are a momentus occasion, and there is a large celebration within the herd right after the foal learns to stand. Depending on the rank of the parents the way the celebration is held varies greatly.
WIP

Overall this is a strong herd with a strong belief and tradition system, they respect each other and will protect each other through anything.

The Herd of Shamrock Fields is a highly exotic herd for wild horses. They live in a deep mountain valley filled with grasses of all kinds and of course, shamrocks. The horses of Shamrock Fields keep their head high and put themselves on top, but are a bit snobby and difficult to put up with. The horses of Shamrock Fields consist of Marwaris, Mustangs, Connemaras, and Tennessee Walkers.

    important announcement!

    hello everyone!

first off, i'd like to apologize for being inactive on here for a while. mochi and i both have been very busy lately, but we're hoping to revive this game!

mochi has given me full ownership of create a herd, and she will be a mod.

i'll be making v.2 shortly and will post the link here.

also, we will be hiring a new mod soon! i will put together a post for a nonexistent herd so each applicant can reply to it. this will be done through pm. this will not be taking place just yet - i would like to get v.2 together and kinda get my bearings first. and i have not yet decided how long this window will be open, but i'm considering two weeks.

thank you guys for being so patient! i'm really excited to get this rolling again!
