five beautiful things

[Ɽotten Ⱡegacy]

The butterflies. There's something so delicate and peaceful about the image it brings to mind, I love it ^^

1 - Going outside on a clear night and witnessing the cold majesty of the stars; losing yourself in the deepest reaches of the universe, and fantasizing for hours about what could actually be out there.
2 - Finding a perfect little nook in a forest; a place to rest, to hang out with friends, to read a book on a warm day while secluded from the rest of society.
3 - Standing outside without a jacket on a day with heavy wind and rain, just you and the destructive beauty of nature.
4 - Sitting somewhere high up--a mountain, a tree, perhaps just a tall building--and looking down on the world below.
5 - The feeling you get when you listen to a deeply emotional song; when you stop everything you're doing, close your eyes, and just listen. You feel it resonate in your heart, a deep sense of peace and acceptance...
I included songs for each one; it wasn't originally my intention, but most of them fit too well for me to ignore~

5, definitely. All of those are so so beautiful but 5 is something that always strikes a cord with me. I love sitting back and randomly noticing music and listening to it on a deeper level than usual. <333

1. Waking up in the morning and seeing sun stream into your room. Your blankets are so warm and cozy and you can’t help but smile because life feels so good.
2. Getting the courage to tell a random person a compliment and they react in such a happy and surprised way that it feels like you were the one receiving a compliment.
3. Sitting by a window and watching rain fall, your mind drifts around calmly and you feel at peace.
4. Standing in a building with lots of people and you’re all singing together, with one voice. It’s loud and there’s so many people’s unique voices but they are blended as one and the sound sends tingles down your spine.
5. You’re feeling alone and hurt and sad but then you see a loved one’s grin and it melts away your negative emotions and you can’t help but smile back. You know you’re never alone and your loved one’s grin is a gift from God.

4, with 3 as a close second. i love that feeling. there's nothing quite like a bunch of voices coming together to make one messy, beautiful sound

1. the brrrp my cat does when i wake him up
2. looking outside at night and seeing the streelights lighting up the falling snow
3. saying something that makes a group of people laugh out loud
4. making a random baby you see in public smile
5. finally completing something that you've worked hard on and that you're proud of

• lighting your favorite scented candle
• getting a funny message from your friend after having a bad day
• someone telling you happy birthday right at midnight
• admiring your freshly painted nails
• whistling your favorite tune without realizing

ooh. it's a tie between 2 and 3. both are so wholesome and thoughtful.

1. returning to a childhood book when you're a young adult/an adult
2. being able to see musician live for the first time after having supported them for years
3. spending time with your siblings (whether that's watching movies/shows, eating/making food, sending each other memes, etc.)
4. seeing someone speak up against injustice (not being a bystander, even better when someone joins you so you're not alone in speaking out against injustice)
5. seeing your friends/family in video calls/hearing them in voice calls during this difficult time in the world

note: these are in no particular order :')

definitely #4, though #3 sounds really wholesome and if I had siblings I might have said the two were tied

- finally having that much-needed conversation with someone, saying your mutual apologies, and finally truly moving on from whatever conflict you had in the past
- hearing a really cool rendition of a song you love, and loving this other artist's unique version almost or just as much as the original
- colorful animal print patterns, like blue zebra or lime green cheetah print, that remind you of simpler times
- the view you see through your car window of a sweeping valley from a cliffside highway
- friends who become like siblings

Without a doubt, I choose the first one, because I often have a fight with my friend, and the moment of our much-needed conservation overrides all unpleasant things

1. Coming to school or university and finding out that classes have been canceled, and you can go home
2. Suddenly finding money in the pocket of another clothing item
3. Finally passing a hard level that you haven't been able to pass before
4. Waking up from a nightmare and realizing that it was just a nightmare
5. Getting rid of a painful attachment to someone who doesn't care

There's an almost magical quality about reaching into a pocket and pulling out coins and other tiny knick-knacks, i'm going with #2.

1. Gently holding something small in cupped hands, like a lizard or cricket
2. The shadows cast over suburban or city landscapes at sunset
3. Musical notes so low that you can only just hear them, the ones that reverberate through your whole body
4. Circuitboards and all their intricacies
5. Finally coming to terms with a quality of yourself you've been overly critical of

As a piano and cello player, I gotta go with 3. Lovely <3

1. The fresh smell of newly baked bread.
2. Gardens, or any rain-pelted plant, really, with dew still on the petals of lush, colorful flowers or dark, thin leaves.
3. Stained glass/Suncatchers, color hitting the windows and casting art of their own on the floor.
4. Clear, starry nights, the moon shining gently on you as constellations gather into place.
5. Succulents, and the joy of gently squishing a tiny part of it without it breaking and feeling the smoothness of the plant.

number 4 for sure, stars are so special

- late night facetimes during shelter in place
- waking up from a good nap
- getting to wear a fun new outfit you've been planning
- the sound of a well-played oboe
- releasing a toxic friend from your life
