A/N: So I've decided to restart my Clan - not that I ever made an official first post or anything lmao
I'm keeping all three of my cats and reworking their personalities entirely, but I would like a new founder, if possible.

Schwellenangst: A fear of, or aversion to, crossing a threshold, typically to new and unforeseen experiences.
The cats of Schwellenangst tend to be reclusive and hostile towards newcomers. They keep to themselves most of the time, mostly due to severe paranoia. Of what? Not too many are sure. The leader is a borderline-insane she-cat who's an extremist in every form of the word. She'll do whatever it takes to keep her clan safe, even if it means destroying some of its members herself.

These cats are usually not ones to go forth and start up a conversation. They prefer to stay back and observe the situation, retaliating purely with rage if they feel threatened - which, unfortunately, is most of the time. They fight till the death, and have their own ways of doing things.

plainclan's landscape offers a lot more than what its name implies; hills, ponds, and of course - plains, take over the north and west
whereas flat swampland reins in the east and south. it is a land much untouched by modern twoleg contraptions with only one small

a winding river cuts through the land, emptying out into a lake. which due to their location overlooking a small bay is where plain
clan gets their main water source from.

A pale-ginger molly drifted across the sands, her soft green eyes picking at the horizon. Nosing at the dry air, Dune frowned thoughtfully and her nose wrinkled with contempt; They were still following and she wasn't sure when they'd finally get the message and hop it. Whirling around, Dune snarled contemptuously at the large black dog. ''Leave me alone, I have nothing for you.'' She glared at the hounds beside him, tail lashing. ''Not even so much a bone to chew...''

The one who spoke was not so much a dog as a mountain. ''Dune, you know exactly why we want you.'' He rumbled. ''Don't be so coy.'' The mountain huffed, ears pricked forward. ''We wouldn't be chasing after you across the desert if we only wanted you for a quick snack.'' Brown eyes twinkling cruelly, the dog spoke once more. ''There are tastier cats around.''

''Be quiet, Rock'' Came the black dog's cool voice. ''We don't want to scare our little nightingale.'' Approaching on shadow-dark paws, he did not flinch when Dune's claws struck his nose, blood dripping onto the sand below. ''Now, that's just rude.'' He sighed, shaking his head solemnly. ''You wouldn't do that to poor little Jet? Your forever friend?'' Tutting, the black dog turned to glare at her. ''Remember what these teeth did to your friends, Dune, remember all that blood? All those wounds?'' Drawing a sick smile across his face, Jet pinned the young cat down with his bright eyes. ''Now, where is Hawk? And that sister of his?''

Dune glared back, jade-green eyes flickering from murderous face to murderous face. ''How am I supposed to know?'' She scoffed, tail twitching. ''I never saw them leave, and I never saw them do anything.'' Backing away, Dune turned back to the horizon as though searching for answers. ''Kindly do me a favour, and keep your wretched muzzles away from me!'' Swiping at Rock's curious snout, Dust turned on her paws and began to sprint across the lonely sands.

Paws bounding on sand and the sun beating down on her back, Dune was no longer a cat but a denizen of the desert. Fluid motion and faithful paws led Dune down paths old and winding, like snakes. Hills of golden sand rose and fell like the chest of a quietly sleeping beast, far enough in it's dreams not to tremble when Dune clambered down it's steep sides with nimble and sharp claws.

For how long she had been running, Dune did not know.

''I can so beat you!'' Lotuspaw exclaimed, bristling furiously. Glaring up at the statue of Sekhmet, the ginger tabby scowled at Camelpaw as he draped luxuriously over the lioness' maw. ''Just get your butt down here!'' Lotuspaw scrabbled at smooth stone, needle-sharp claws dulling as they scraped harshly over white clay. ''You're just a wimp!'' He hissed, whining loudly that Camelpaw was being unfair, lazy, stupid, ornery and how he was embarrassing him in front of everyone!

Smiling good-naturedly, Camelpaw peered down at Lotuspaw. ''I don't think you need my help to embarrass yourself.'' He remarked, tail coiling around his paws as he let his legs dangle in mid-air. Sekhmet was certainly tall and if Camelpaw looked up, he could see for miles around. ''Besides, why can't you just fight someone else?'' Camelpaw grinned impishly. ''Why me? What have I done?''

''He's already beaten the rest of us up.'' Chimed in Larkpaw, staring in awe at the looming statue; How on earth had Camelpaw managed to get up there? She hadn't even seen him climbing in the first place! ''He threw sand in my eyes the first time.'' Larkpaw complained, sticking her tongue out at the ginger tabby. ''He pulled on my whiskers too...''

Shrikepaw snickered softly. ''Lotuspaw is a big ol' meanie!'' She sat up, puffing her chest out with pride. ''But he's never managed to beat me!'' Eyes shining with challenge, the grey and white molly crouched before lunging and pouncing on Lotuspaw, pinning him to the ground. ''But he can certainly try anytime he wants! I could use the warmup!''

''Get off me!'' Spat Lotuspaw, batting at Shrikepaw's ears. ''I'll pummel you, and that's a promise!''

A soft chuckle made its way over to the squabbling apprentices and Hawkfur appeared with a good-natured smile. ''Now, now...'' The brown and white tom pulled Shrikepaw off Lotuspaw, setting her on a ground with a firm look. ''You're friends, and friends don't chew each other's ears off.'' Hawkfur winked at Larkpaw. ''I'd know all about that.''

''Are we going to train?'' Larkpaw bounded up to him with a cheerful grin. Although she would never admit it to her wayward and naughty sibling, Larkpaw really did enjoy going out into the desert to hunt with Hawkfur; He always let her eat her first catch and was always so encouraging of her.

Nodding, Hawkfur began to lead the small tabby out of camp. ''Of course!'' Glancing over his shoulder, Hawkfur called to the rest of the apprentices, bidding them farewell and good luck with their respective mentors; They wouldn't be up for a while yet, but they were sure to give them a work out! ''Now, Larkpaw, we're gonna practice hunting birds!'' Nodding enthusiastically, Hawkfur stared up at the open sky, peering at the places where he imagined clouds would be. ''Or at least pouncing...''

Following Hawkfur's gaze into the empty sky, Larkpaw nodded determinedly. ''I'll catch a bird!'' She promised him with eyes as shiny as beetles. ''Just you watch!'' Larkpaw was an intent listener and before it, the young apprentice was out in the desert; The lone and level sands rolling far away, endless and Larkpaw, a mere speck of life in the endless golden.

She crouched, licking her maw in concentration. Whiskers twitching, Larkpaw slowly edged closer and closer to the vulture; It was an ambitious catch but wouldn’t they all be so proud of her if she caught it? Watching the ugly bird hopping over the ground, Larkpaw stuck her tongue out in disgust before creeping on, ears pricked forward

With a startled cry, the vulture took to the sky with a loud rattle of feathers. Blood dripped onto the desert floor and there was the horrible crunch, crunch, crunch of feasting jaws; Hawkfur looked up, looked around warily and smiled at the vultures screaming in the sky.

They could scream all they want, nobody was going to stop to listen to a vulture, the last thing they would all see before they died.

It had been nearly a moon since Timberpaw had seen that small glimpse of Shadow. Yet... there was something nagging in the back of the small tom's mind. A foreboding feeling, like something terrible was going to happen. He couldn't quite understand it, but he didn't feel that Scorchstar should be burdened with his anxiety; after all, Shadow always did tell him that he worried about stupid, insignificant things. A lot of yelling, causing Timberpaw's anxiety to be even worse, and a lot of sleepless nights, even now, because of that anxiety. It was getting worse again, after Timberpaw had seen his half brother. And still, there was something in his mind that told him he shouldn't bother Scorchstar.

Eventually, Timberpaw's sleepless nights began to affect him in the daytime. It was terribly noticeable, he thought, but there were a few glances of concern he got, especially from Nettleblaze and Slatepaw. Nettleblaze, however, was not one to confront another's problems. Timberpaw knew that his mentor would much rather stay away from drama and problems, though the two got along just fine, he wouldn't have felt right telling the older cat his fears. Slatepaw, however, had already shown to be his best friend in this Clan. She would work as hard as she could to get her own duties done with her sister so that she could spend time with Timberpaw, whether that meant helping him sort his herbs for the tenth time or quizzing him on what herbs were what. Nettleblaze seemed glad of the company as well, even going so far now as to start talking with the she-cat - something only Scorchstar, Peachfrost, or Timberpaw could achieve before.

It was on a third sleepless night in a row that Slatepaw confronted Timberpaw about his dazed look and his constant yawning or forgetfulness, something that hardly happened. "Hey, Timberpaw..." Slatepaw began her sentence slowly, after a large silence had stretched between the two friends. "Are you ok?"

Timberpaw started, taken aback by the bluntness of her question. Not that Slatepaw had ever not been blunt to him before, but it was usually teasing and upbeat. Now, the she-cat had stopped what they were doing and stared at Timberpaw seriously. She was almost frowning as she sat down, her tail flicking slightly.

"Uh, well, why wouldn't I be?" He said lightly, avoiding her gaze and continuing to sort the herbs. "I've been-"

Slatepaw cut him off with a small hiss. "Before you say fine," she said in frustration, "think about who you are speaking with. I've been with you nearly every single day since you got here. I know you aren't fine. Something's been on your mind, and I intend to help you."

Frowning in earnest, Timberpaw sat down and hunched his shoulders, sighing heavily. "I don't want to lie to you, Slatepaw, but truly I don't think I'm really in need of help. My mind just... overthinks a lot of the time, and I haven't been sleeping well this past moon."

The she-cat rolled her eyes. "And now the next step is going to be you telling me why you're overthinking." She paused before adding, in a gentler tone, "I know you pretty well, almost as well as I know my family, to understand that whatever is keeping you up is not nothing. Your thoughts are valid, your fears are valid, especially with me."

Timberpaw blinked, an ache entering his heart. He had never really had someone that would care about him, or care about his anxieties. It felt... warm. It took a few minutes before he could answer Slatepaw. "I thought I saw my half-brother," he finally admitted in a small whisper, looking back down at his feet. "When Nettleblaze and I were out of camp last moon. I swear I saw him lock eyes with me before he turned into the right side of the field, out of our territory. But something has been telling me that he's planning something bad. I just don't want to bother Scorchstar, because I haven't seen him since, and no border patrol has seen him either."

Slatepaw's eyes widened for a brief second, her mind thinking. "Timberpaw, I think whatever your feeling should be addressed with my dad. Even if you haven't seen Shadow in a while, there still could be something he's plotting. And I don't want to tell you this to make you feel bad, I just want to be honest, but to be quite real with you - neither my dad nor Cricketheart has sent out a patrol near the field since you and Nettleblaze were over there. Most of our cats have been sent out on hunting patrols instead to build up our prey pile."

Timberpaw froze with fear. "Oh no," he breathed, standing and shaking himself after a moment. "I should go tell Scorchstar now." He paused at the entrance to the den, looking back to Slatepaw. "Can you... come with me?" He asked, in a small voice. To his great relief, Slatepaw nodded, and the two set off for Scorchstar's den.

When the two exited the smaller part of the medicine den, they did not run into Nettleblaze as they had expected. In fact, they didn't see much of anyone. Worrying Timberpaw beyond reason, he started running around to each den, and only breathed a small sigh of relief when he heard Maplecloud with her kits inside the nursery, arguing with them about taking a bath. "Where are the warriors?" He asked Slatepaw in a hushed voice. Slatepaw rested her tail on Timberpaw's back, comforting him, before listening for herself.

"Outside," she breathed, hearing the sound of a heated conversation. "Though most should be hunting about now, Cricketheart sent out a patrol at the same time my dad did, I heard them do it. Sparkpaw and Cricketheart should be coming back from training soon though, that's probably who is outside."

Timberpaw nodded, still tense, but he allowed Slatepaw to lead the way outside, to where they did find Cricketheart, Thornstrike, Sparkpaw, and Otterpaw; who had just come back from their training session. They weren't alone, but Timberpaw nearly melted when he saw that it wasn't Shadow with them. There were three new cats, and the heated argument they had heard was Thornstrike arguing with the biggest of the newcomers, a brown marked tom. Cricketheart was just calming Thornstrike down, and a calico she-cat had turned to the brown tom and was calming him down.

"We aren't here for no reason," the third newcomer explained in a quiet voice. "We passed by a hostile cat on the way from our old clan. We wanted to both warn you about him, because he does not have anything good planned by being as close as he is to your clan. We also wanted... well, we wanted to join your clan. I think... that we could benefit from each other. Plus, my sister and brother and I are very interested in the idea of a... more traditional clan, so to speak." The fluffy tom looked away after he said his bit, scared and shy. His voice wobbled more than once during his small speech, though Timberpaw hardly paid attention. His mind was elsewhere.

As the tom said there was a hostile out and about, Timberpaw's blood turned to ice. He could barely feel Slatepaw's warm body against him, nor hear what she said as she started to converse with Cricketheart, butting into the conversation.

Shadow was here. And he was plotting something terrible.

ixxx▬berrystar - the -star having been added late in the night, hence the yawn that escaped the tom's mouth now - was perched atop a large, flat stone that was cool beneath his toes. another cat was before him; an orange-striped tomcat with a white crest that ran up the arch of his nose.
ixxx▬he was rather absentminded, scatterbrained and goofy in nature. he had tackled berrystar, actually; bowling him over into the low-lying brush along the side of the path that was beginning to be carved into the territory, the furred feline had released a sharp squawk as berrystar had simply gone limp.
ixxx▬it was an old technique that he'd picked up within his former clan, especially while wrestling with younger cats; as opposed to kicking them off or levering them off with his body, the bare tom would simply drop.
ixxx▬doing so often resulted in surprise on behalf of the other feline; no honorable cat attacked to kill, and those who attacked of fear or surprise would often retreat if they thought that their opponent was disabled.
ixxx▬berrystar was eccentric, not stupid. many thought the two words were synonymous, but the sphinx cat would prove otherwise.
ixxx▬he had dropped like a stone to the bottom of a pond, collapsing in a heap of gangly legs and knobbly limbs. the orange cat had slid from his flank like water from leaves, tumbling into a mess of branches that snagged his fur.
ixxx▬berrystar had risen fluidly to his paws, drawing one across his ear delicately. "are you alright?" he asked with a brow cocked; he eyed the other feline with vague interest, whiskers twitching at the sight of the orange tabby ensnared in a patch of leaves.
ixxx▬the other cat blinked. grey-green eyes peered from grey-green leaves. "i'm fine," he chirped brightly; he was either unaware of his current situation or was uncaring of such. "who're you?"
ixxx▬the newfound leader twitched a satellite-dish sized ear. "i? i am but a mere wanderer. i flee from the ghosts who haunt me," his voice was pitched low, mournful. he'd always been philosophical. "i have been dubbed berrystar; berry-, by one such ghost, and -star, by the ancestors who granted me my lives. what do you go by?"
ixxx▬the strange tom blinked round eyes at berrystar. what was this cat babbling on about? "i'm, uh, marlin," he coughed lightly. he'd gathered enough from the senseless ranting of berrystar that he was a leader; of what clan, he was so far unsure, and whether he was hostile, also unsure.
ixxx▬"marlin," berrystar echoed, head turned slightly. "that will not do! oh, no, marlin is not a fit name for a clan cat," the sphinx seemed to be discussing the subject with himself. "have you ever seen a clownfish, marlin?"
ixxx▬the orange, white-and-black fish lingered in the shallows, protected by the stinging fingers of anemones; berrystar had only ever caught one or two, and they weren't sizable enough to be worth the challenge.
ixxx▬"er, yeah, the little things, huh? quick swimmers." marlin nodded; he was still incredibly perplexed; was this tom assuming that he would be, uh, joining him? how many cats were in this clan?
ixxx▬"yes, yes, correct," berrystar murmured. "warriors of mangroveclan must be strong, resilient; though you obviously do not show an incredible amount of astuteness - " what did that even mean, marlin thought. " - you are bold." a pause.
ixxx▬"well, clowntail, follow me. i shall show you around," berrystar purred, and set off.
ixxx▬marlin - clowntail, now? he wasn't quite positive - had no choice but to follow.

ixxx▬it had been nearly two full sun-cycles since berrystar had discovered (was discovered even the right word?) clowntail.
ixxx▬last night, as berrystar had paced the shoreline (he frequently did so, as insomnia was a cruel friend), a smudge of white among the trees had caught his eye.
ixxx▬he had approached without hesitance, his steps sinking into the soft, grainier sand near the foliage.
ixxx▬the smudge was revealed to be a cat; a molly, pure-white, with blue eyes.
ixxx▬she was sitting patiently with her eyes tilted upwards, a bundle of herbs placed delicately within her paws.
ixxx▬"i could smell your camp," she spoke without making eye contact, her gaze fixated on the stars. "i had a feeling you would find me eventually. i am foamwhisker." berrystar could scent chervil from the bundle and see a hint of cobwebs (the molly would later state that she had collected only chervil and cobwebs in anticipation of future mothers).
ixxx▬berrystar blinked at her.
ixxx▬finally, another cat to rival his intelligence. he would soon go insane if he were left alone with clowntail for any longer.
