Gingerstorm had been hunting in the forest when she heard Twigwhisker's sobs. She came back too late, and two more warriors had joined Starclan. "Murder," choked the deputy. She felt like a failure as she dragged out Twigwhisker's sodden body and laid him side by side with his friend, Spottedpelt. Gingerstorm looked at the medicine cat apprentice with much sadness. Now, Featherwhisker needed to choose another apprentice, and the clan had lost two faithful cats.

Bearclaw had been on a lone patrol and soon heard Twigwhisker's sadden sobs, he then raced over fearing the worse, when he saw Gingerstorm and the two dead clan mates, and he sucked in a sharp breath when he realized one of them was Spottedpelt. "Killer." The large warrior growled at the deputy, fear overpowering his own wit.

"No I'm not," snapped the deputy. She knew that she wouldn't be able to prove where she had been, but decided to confide in Bearclaw for the time being about where she had been. "I was hunting in the forest, when I heard Twigwhisker. I suppose he had discovered Spottedpelt and had flung himself in the stream." Gingestorm nodded to the warrior's still body. "I found him in the stream. Now where have you been, may I ask?"

"I was on a patrol, when I too heard Twigwhisker's sobs." He then looked down at the ground, slightly embrassed by his actions. "Sorry I thought you were the killer. I don't know what to believe now... who would kill a Medicine Cat? What gain can they get?" Bearclaw asked as he gently picked up Spottedpelt up and slowly began to bring her home.

Gingerstar shook her head, acknowledging her ignorance. "Perhaps the killer hoped to be medicine cat apprentice? It could be one of the apprentices," the ginger tabby suggested. "Or maybe," she dropped her voice to a whisper, "Smallstar. He might be the reason behind this."

"Why would he be behind this? He's our leader?" Bearclaw said in more like a question aa he had to see her reasons for saying that the murder is Smallstar.

"Well, so far no apprentices except for Spoitedpelt have died. Maybe he want the warriors out of the way. Otherwise, it could be one of the apprentices, and Starclan forbid, Flightfeather or Mossfire. If no more warriors die though, it has to be a warrior."

Bearclaw listened as they arrived in camp with the two bodies. "I would never dare to think of Featherwhisker killing his own apprentice, or Mossfire, with her kits and all. We must watch our backs from now on, we don't want to be next." The tabby warrior said stiffly as he set down the Medicine Cat Apprentice down in the centre of camp, with Twigwhisker right beside her.

Duskfeather walked up to the deputy and Bearclaw. "Theres been another murder? Who is it?" He asked in disbelief.
