weather. the sun shines at a nearly constant rate, heating the pelts of the animals that graze. water is still abundant, especially in rivers and lakes, though streams are beginning to shrink, threatening to dry up soon if the heat persists. grass is beginning to dry out, though is still enough to provide nourishment for the ungulates. rogue groups, humans, and predators are more abundant, so watch out !!

The Lost Souls are a group like no other. They live on a desolate island somewhere in the Burmuda Triangle. The island was once home to ‘The World Zoo’. This zoo held countless animals from all over the world, ranging from zebra and lions to elk and wolves. It was a huge success! However, one day an enormous storm rolled in, wrecking all of the buildings and fencing, allowing the animals to escape. The humans fled and never returned, allowing the animals to claim the island for themselves.

During time, some changes occurred. Due to the lack of food, most carnivors died out. However, foxes, coyotes, mountain lions, and panthers still roam. The herbivor population soared, particularly the hooved animals.

It is a very large island (about half the size of Connecticut) so the animals are pretty spread out and it might take a while to find new members. Really any hooved animal can be found, but cold-weather animals are rarer and have a shorter coat; that being said, they are still able to be seen on the regular, depending where you are.

There are some special ranks:

Leader: leads the Ungulate

Heir: next in line to become leader (leader’s oldest foal)

Council: 3 members selected to guide the leader (life-long position)

Plague-Healer: the healer, communicates with the Ancients (Plauge-Healers always receive the name Ferro or Ferra, depending on their gender; so if their birth name was Sage, their new name would be Ferra Sage. Everyone in the group is expected to call them by their proper name.)

Healer’s Apprentice: next in line to become the Plague-Healer

General: in charge of the battalion, appointed after the old general dies, steps down, is exiled, or is unable to preform duties

The Battalion: the members who fight the Ungulate’s battles, are expected to always fight with their lives. Those who are considered a traitor or disgrace are sentenced to exile to the Claw District (where the predators lurk)

The Foragers: those who aren’t necessarily strong enough to be in the Battalion, or have just chosen not to be. They find the food.

The Apprentices: those training to become a Battalion member or a forager.

The Nurses: 1-2 past Queens who take on the task of helping the current Queens and foals with any trouble they may have.

The Queens: those who have and care for Foals

The Foals: Foals that are under 6 moons

The Veterans: the elders. Highly respected.

Ram danced around the meadow, Peach chasing after him. Lavender watched with amusement, calling out to remind them to not get hurt. Peach laughed. "We'll try, Flor de la Raya!" Ram nodded. "Keep on alert, Agraciado!" He added.

~ The Lost Souls ~

Abraham pushed through the undergrowth. The bright green leaves contrasted his brown fur and his large antlers brushed against the tree branches. He muttered under his breath. Eventually, he reached a cliff that looked out onto the island. In the far distance he saw the ocean, tugging at the shore. Even further, he saw a cargo ship, floating along. It looked to have crates of some kind. He shrugged and stepped out into the sun. He stood proudly, his chest puffed out and head raised, he closed his eyes and listened to the sounds of nature.

All the feelings of dread as Rowan had brought Oak to camp had washed away when Wysteria caught sight of the stallion. The mare, despite how pregnant she was, had all but jumped out of her nest and ran towards the dark coated horse. A small smile danced across Rowan's face as he saw the mare reunite with her mate.

Taking a few nimble steps forwards, Rowan spoke softly, so as not to disturb Wysteria who seemed lost in the moment. "Stay here, keep an eye on Wysteria and the camp. I'll leave you two to your peace." Oak nodded gratefully and whispered back "Thank you Rowan. And thank you, for bringing me back to Wys. I doubt I'll ever be able to repay you."

Rowan just shook his head, suddenly feeling extremely awkward. "It was nothing. I got to go. See you later."
Turning hastily, Rowan just managed not to get his horns tangled in the vines as he made his hasty retreat.

[ abraham comes across a new member; a thomson's gazelle from the ruins of the zoo! the gazelle is travelling with a male blackbuck antelope who seems slightly more wary of joining; however, if abraham accepts the gazelle, then the blackbuck antelope is willing to join, just to stay with his companion. he seems to have been protecting the gazelle. ]

( keep in mind that thomson's gazelles have antlers no matter the gender!! )

[ while on patrol, rowan encounters a careful horse and a spitfire pony. the horse, gentle in nature, is willing to join the ungulate as the healer. the pony, however, will make a good scout, for they have an adventurous streak, despite their small size. ]

Peach chatted with Alder as Lavender checked over Sunny. Ram chuckled as he watched Sunny try and escape the Okapi who was searching her for any problems. Ram could hear Peach talk about growing of their home, and he smiled. "Soon we'll get more deer and maybe Antelope and some more Okapi, we need a little diversity, ya know? But It's going to be great, I can tell!" Peach enthused.

Aaron walked beside Flicker, the beautiful female he had been protecting for over a year. He swallowed and looked into her eyes. She stopped in her tracks and looked concerned. “Is everything alright Aaron?” She asked gently. He shook his head. “What’s wrong?” She pressed, stepping closer. “I just can’t stand not being with you, Flicker.” He blurted “You’re just so gorgeous, smart, and amazingly kind. I love you so much. I hope my feelings don’t change your views towards me, I just couldn’t live without getting it off my chest.” Flicker smiled and pressed her nose against his. “I love you too, Aaron. I would be honored to be your mate.”

Yellow Chrysanthemum and Balsamine. A Healer and a Scout.

The two newest members of the Forestkeepers were an interesting pair. Chrysanthemum was calm, quiet, and very cautious around Wysteria. Balsamine however, was a ball of pure lighting, zapping around camp and tossing his mane at just about everything. He reminded Rowan far too much of...

Rowan shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He wasn't in that ungulate anymore. He was in his own, the leader no doubt. they didn't control his life anymore. Getting to his feet, he walked over to Oak and said "Since Wysteria is close to birthing, I want you here still. If you'd like you can patrol next moon, but Wysteria needs you." Oak nodded "Thank you Rowan. Honestly, I'd been about to ask you for permission to stay." Rowan just nodded, and began to make his way to the back corner of the cave. It was darker, but that was where Chrysanthemum had set up her little corner "Wysteria is due to give birth any day now, if you must go herb hunting, please stay close." she nodded "Of course Rowan. I hadn't planned on going father than a few trots."

[ abraham's request has been granted! the ancients send him a council member. ]
[ the ancients congratulate aaron and flicker on their new mateship! flicker is expecting; she will birth in two moons/posts. ]

[ while patrolling, rowan and balsamine come across a weanling-aged elk, willing to join their ungulate. the elk has twisted their leg and will need x1 cobweb to heal. ]
[ oak's guard is uneventful, though he hears the foreboding sound of coyotes in the distance. a patrol will need to be sent out to drive the coyotes away, or the canines might find their way to the camp and kill wysteria's newborn foal. ]
[ wysteria has given birth to a healthy foal! ]
[ chrysanthemum finds x1 cobweb and x1 lavender. ]

( oof i forgot to mention that you can add 5 herbs of any kind when you get your healer!! )

[ ram and peach come across a pair of antelopes, a waterbuck stag and a gemsbok who appear to be squabbling over a patch of luscious grass. at the sight of the pair of fallow deer, one of the antelopes flee, though the other remains, curiosity bright in their gaze. does ram accept the antelope into the ungulate, or leave them to their own devices? ]

( you can pick which antelope joins your ungulate! )
( gender can be either, unless directly specified, so the gemsbok can be either gender, as both females and males have antlers. )
