Number of Wolves: 2Post:
The golden shewolf followed after her excited mate, blowing a puff of air from her nostrils at his goofy antics. The male in question, Yondu, had run into her seven months ago. They had been from neighboring packs, so had met before during Full Moons. Of course, as they were enemies at the time, neither paid much attention to the other. But then, of course as all packs do, the alphas had another litter, and had to drive out a few of last year's pups. Layla had been one of her pack to become a dispersal wolf. It was a pity; she had always thought she was mother's favorite. Yondu was a completely different story. He had been exiled from his pack due to recklessly disrupting a hunt, and causing the herd to flee. There were nursing pups in his pack, and they went hungry and almost starved due to his stupidity. Thus, he was cast out for endangering the lives of pups. Somehow, the two packless wolves had met, and Layla had found herself liking the eccentric male. After their months of travels searching for a new pack to join, they had decided to stake out their own land and start a pack themselves. Layla sighed, flicking her pale eyes to the black male as he pounced on yet another newly shaped leaf. He never changes.
"Hey, this one is soft!" Yondu's childlike voice sounded. It seemed as if the male's voice had never deepened when he reached maturity, and Layla found it quite adorable.
"Of course, Yondu. I can smell it from here, it's a cherry blossom petal." The golden shewolf replied sweetly. She tilted back her head, admiring the tall branches of the sakura tree. It's beautiful! Layla took a step closer to the tree, sniffing the bark. It smelled... sweet. Lowering her head, the shewolf pawed at the ground, testing the soil. It was good enough for digging if needed.
Yondu nosed her shoulder, grabbing his mate's attention. "It'd be a good place for a summer den." He reminded her what they were searching for. The golden shewolf turned to face her dark counterpart, a smirk across her muzzle.
"A summer den? We haven't even found a winter den yet, and that's the most important!" She allowed her tongue to lull out in a joking manner. Yondu huffed his laughter.
The dark male tilted his head comically, although he knew the answer before he asked. "And will we be needing a winter den?" Layla stepped closer, nuzzling his muzzle. The two wolves wagged their tails. Of course we will.

The night before, Layla had hastily dug an indention beneath the roots of the sakura tree for the two wolves to rest. She blinked open her eyes, feeling Yondu curled next to her, and smiled. "Yondu, little goat, we have to get up and find a winter den," Layla prodded her mate's side.
Yondu rolled over, grunting in mock exhaustion. "Oh, already? It's so early, though!" But he stood anyway, stretching his long legs and giving Layla's ear a lap before striding a few paces away. The golden shewolf lifted herself to her legs, fighting off a swarm of dizziness. She blinked the spots away, centering her gaze on Yondu, who had a concerned expression on his face.
"You ok?" His high voice wondered worriedly as he lowered his head. Layla nodded, trotting out to stand next to him. "Ok, because, if you'd like we can stay here. There's lots of stuff to do still." Layla held back a snort. She knew that Yondu's idea of stuff to do involved staring at leaves or tasting flowers.
"There's time for that later. Idiot." Layla leaned against Yondu, glad that she had him with her.
If Yondu could have raised an eyebrow, he would have. "I may be an idiot, but I'm your idiot! Now let's go get you that den you want so much!" He prepared to race off, but the growling of his stomach disturbed his actions. Yondu frozed, embarrassed.
Layla rolled her eyes. See, idiot. But he's right; he's my idiot. The golden shewolf flicked her mate with her tail. "Maybe we should hunt first, eh?" Layla snickered. Yondu returned with a shy nod and a sheepish grin, and moments later, the two set off to do just that.
Layla and Yondu go on a hunting party.
Layla and Yondu prepare for the arrival of their first litter. [yay for puppers!]
