Sunstone sat with Bubble in her cozy little den. There'd been no need to keep her confined to the medicine den, but she still occasionally got bad headaches when the sun was too bright or the other cats were too loud. Pineclaw had been the one to suggest a private den for her, and he'd built it with Driftwood's help. Shinepaw had brought seagull feathers to line Bubble's nest, and Glassfang often poked her head in to see if there was anything Bubble needed.
"They're all such lovely cats," Bubble said to Sunstone. "I've never met cats such as y'all." A salty breeze blew past the den opening. Bubble sighed deeply. "I was in a twoleg city before. Couldn't smell the ocean for all their thunderpath monsters." Sunstone laid his tail over Bubble's back. She frowned, thinking hard. "I think I did well there. I remember prey and friends and twolegs... But it's like I can't see them clearly." Her fur trembled slightly. "The earliest thing I can clearly remember is running from some nasty rogues. I was hungry, and they didn't like me eating their prey. My head hurt. I was bleeding-- I don't think it was them what hurt me, though." Bubbles trailed off, and Sunstone didn't press her.

"So what's the deal, exactly?" Otterstripe trotted alongside Newstar while Copperleaf held up the rear. "You just let the flower-cats have the choice forest past the river, and our territory is mostly... this?" The tabby gestured dramatically to the empty beach around them. Newstar's tail tip twitched, but they forced themself to exercise patience. "The Court of Gardens is our ally and neighbor; I don't let them live there any more than they let us live here. Our clans simply coexist." Newstar gazed out across the shining white sand. Had it already been a year since they first laid eyes on it? "This is the territory that First Star invited me to claim. Besides--" They dug their paw into the wet sand revealed by the waves and pulled out a fat sand flea. "It's hardly as barren as it seems at first glance." They crunched the morsel between their teeth, and Copperleaf chuckled at Otterstripe's revulsion. "And that's forgetting the tidepools are more reliably prey-full than the river itself," Copperleaf added. She fell in step with Otterstripe and gave them a sharp smile. "Pay more attention to what's past your whiskers; you may be surprised what you find."

Redfur brings the kits out to the camp clearing for some daily playtime. Darkkit takes to tail-pouncing like a natural, but her brothers seem a bit more timid around the older cats. All three kits come running when Pineclaw enters camp.
Oliveheart & Whitebelly often eat together, and they go out of their way to invite Shinepaw to join them when he's not training.
Glassfang worries that Otterstripe is bothering Sunstone, but she soon realizes that Sunstone is perfectly happy to explain his herbs to his curious clanmate.

Chapter
It was time to gather the clan. Her clan, not just any clan - her clan. She could see that they didn't trust her, not yet. It seemed like no matter what StarClan said, these cats had been through a lot. Mouse decided to give them space, at least for the first moon, so that they could learn to live under her leadership. For the most part, it almost functioned like two separate groups for the first half of the moon. Mouse did her own thing, learning the layout of the land, gaining insight on her camp and her territory, while the other five cats huddled together, talking in hushed voices, and healed.

On the end of their first moon together, it seemed that the cats had accepted Mouse as their leader. It was Kratos that bridged the gap, the normally stoic tom giving Mouse a respectful nod, the others tentatively watching behind him. "Bug and River caught a mouse for you on their patrol," the cat rumbled, and Mouse gave a nod of surprise. There was a light pause after Mouse thanked the guard, and he seemed to look back at the others, who gave him a nod. "Would you like to eat with us?"

It was the first of many meals they would share together as a clan, a step in the right direction.

"I think it's time to get us properly recognized under StarClan," Mouse had announced to the clan one morning, after their first meal of the day. "Not just me; though I would gratefully accept my leader's name, now that I've learned more about clan traditions. But all of us should make the journey together, to feel like we are all starting this clan like we are. I wouldn't be here without you five, so I would love to have you alongside me, and to accept your own clan names, if you wish."

Bug and River, having grown more enthusiastic with each passing day, jumped up in excitement. "I'd love a warrior name!" Bug said, which had River nodding their own agreement.

Others, however, seemed less than enthusiastic. Kratos and Pirate gave each other a knowing look, as if they knew this day was coming. "Respectfully, Mouse, Kratos and I would like to keep our names as they are. As a reminder of our past. I would feel wrong of us to give up the names we held as cats of The Acatdemy."

"I understand," Mouse nodded, letting them make their own decisions. Amethyst was left, though he decided to make his decision when they arrived at the Moonstone.

"They were born with those?" Promisedrose asked. Her voice was low as she spoke with Lotusseed, the two
sitting as far from Petuniabreeze and her kits as they could manage without leaving the nursery. The kitting
had gone perfectly smoothly, there was just the matter of the kits themselves.

At first glance, the kits were normal. Maybe a little extra chubby compared to other kittens, but nothing
abnormal there. And then if the kits stretched or rolled, one saw the extra flaps of skin on their backs. The
stretched membrane connecting the fur.

"Gave me a fright when they did, I know she's been keeping quiet about the father but I did have to press her.
She met him during the gathering we attended a while back, apparently he also had them but she thought
they were false."

"Will it...hurt them, in any way?" Promisedrose asked, glancing back at the small family.

"I don't believe so. By Petuniabreeze's report, and my best guess, the father was a Nymph...of sorts. I'm not
entirely sure I'll be honest with you, But if the wings are natural from their father, then they are natural
to the kits as well. Whether or not they are...functional, remains to be seen, but we've already got
Coalshimmer, the Court is used to...unusual blessings. Although if we could arrange a patrol to gather some
cloth or anything to tie around them, it might give the same illusion as their father to any outsiders."

"I'll talk with Dustythorn."

As they'd continued to join patrols and train under the knights, Bumble and Pollen had been allowed to
wander the territory on their own during daylight hours. As Pollen walked along the river, he caught sight
of a strange sight.

It was...very clearly a spirit of some kind. The floating head and vines pouring from its body made that
rather obvious. Pollen crouched low to the ground, sneaking closer as the spirit waved their paw over a
berry bush, the fruits pulsing softly with light before ripening before his eyes.

Pollen's eyes widened, and he began to back towards the river, hoping he could make it away before-

"Hello little one."

Pollen froze, staring up at the....naiad? nymph??

"You don't need to be afraid, come here, let me show you."

Well...they already knew he was there, better to keep them happy than try to run and make them angry
he supposed. "Who are you?" Pollen asked, slowly rising and approaching.

The spirit's head tilted, and their eyes arced as though they were smiling. "I forget that I am not often
recognized. I am Pendis. Though I believe your Garden most often knows me as The Abundance."

Pollen's eyes widened, and he stumbled trying to get into a bow.

"At ease, life moves too quickly to spend time on such formalities." The Abundance said, turning back
to their bush.

"Tell me young one, do you value life?"

"Of course!" Pollen replied hastily. He slowly inched closer, wanting to watch as they worked.

"Your answer rings true. Very good. Do you wish to see life flourish?"

"I...think so?"

"Your mentor, she follows The Chance. A fine path to set her paws on. Your sisters mentor works under
The Hunt. An excellent ambition. You and your sister have yet to start your journeys however. If
you so desire, I can guide you towards the fulfillment of life. Of aiding plants and kin alike as they
flourish."

"What about my sister?"

"My path is not one for her. She will find her own way, in her own time. You may follow her, I suppose,
should you reject me. I will not be offended. That I promise you."

Pollen looked down at his paws. "Can I think about it?"

Pendis hummed, head tilting slightly. "I will allow it."

The tendrils of vines sprouting from their body rose, fresh flowers blossoming along them. One of the
vines reached towards Pollen, curling around their head before unattaching from The Abundance.

"The flower will wilt in two moons, you have until then. If you wish to walk my path, inhale the
flower's scent. If you do not, allow it to die."

"You look kinda dumb with those flowers." Bumble grumbled as she and Pollen walked beside the river. The
same river that Pollen had encountered The Abundance near. "Think you're gonna follow them?"

Pollen shrugged, his gaze turned low. "I dunno. I never put too much thought into which path I was going to
follow, and now that I've met one of them..."

Bumble rolled her eyes. "You'd think you'd met a nosoi the way you've been moping around camp. You know
Cordy's stories, most spirits don't just invite you personally to follow them. It's gotta be some kinda sign
and besides, if not The Abundance then who?"

"Maybe...The Chance?"

"What like Callashell?"

"Well maybe, I dunno."

"You know how she feels about us. I'd rather not make her think I'm trying to make her happy."

Pollen sighed again. "Yeah.."

Bumble put on a short burst of speed, running in front of her brother and blocking his path.

Pollen blinked at his sister, head tilted.

"Look, I still say you look stupid and all but...we're set to be knighted in just a few moons. I don't know
about you, but I don't wanna be the only knights without paths." Bumble said, lifting a paw underneath
Pollen's chin to force her brother to meet her gaze. "I'd invoke one of the Wandering Ones before I let
that happen. One of the Blossoming Souls reached out to you. You can't just throw that away."

Pollen smiled slightly. "When did you get so smart?" he teased, pulling away and batting Bumble's ear
though he frowned quickly after, adding "But maybe don't...do that? Maybe The Abundance would let
you follow them too?"

Bumble shook her head with a grin, and began to walk backwards, keeping her gaze on her brother as
he returned his gaze to the ground. "Nah, I've been pestering Cordy and the Blossoming Lady too much
to do that. Lady Lotusseed gave me some tips for reaching out t-"

Pollen looked up with a frown, wondering why his sister had cut herself off. Only to...not see his sister?

"Bumb-" Pollen began to say, turning his head to search for her, only to be cut off by a shrill shriek.

Blood turning cold, Pollen looked downward to see that the ground had given away beside the riverbank
and Bumble was now flailing in the water, kicking uselessly against the current as it tugged at her fur
pleading her to let go.

"Hang on Bumble!" Pollen screeched, skidding down the riverbank. Bracing himself, he kicked off into the
water, thanking the spirits that the weathers had turned warm as he landed in the churning river.

Swimming toward his sister, Pollen thanked Tangletwist for teaching him to swim. He approached his sister
and quickly clamped her ruff in his mouth. Instinct taking over, Bumble went limp and the two tumbled
further down the river, Pollen not fully ready for the additional weight.

Luckily or-perhaps not given the amount of vines against the log Pollen could feel as it caught his back paws,
slowing the two of them. Digging his claws into the wood, Pollen pushed the two of them toward the bank,
blinking water out of his eyes. His ears were pinned back against his skull but he thought he could hear-

Something pulled Bumble from his grip and Pollen cried out, reaching for his sister before something
else tugged on his own ruff and he was hauled boneless from the water.

"Easy, calm down now, it's alright, you're out" a voice soothed, tongue rasping over Pollen's head.

Pollen blinked the water from his eyes to see Candytuft and Goldengaze working quickly to clean
Bumble. He felt the tongue on his own head again and looked up to see Tangletwist. "How-" he
started to ask, coughing furiously as the bit of water he'd accidentally ingested when Bumble
had been pulled free made itself known.

"Our patrol was nearby, we were coming over to say hi when Bumble fell in," Goldengaze explained,
taking a few steps away from Pollen's sister. "Sagesnap can't swim, so he went to fetch Lady Lotusseed."

"I cannot believe you-" Tangletwist growled as she gave Pollen's ruff one last lick, shaking the water
off of her own paws while she retreated from the confused squire's form. "Of all the hare-brained-
you could have both died!"

"I couldn't just let her fall-" Pollen protested "and you taught me how to swim, I knew I could-"

"I taught you how to swim solo" Tangletwist interrupted sternly, looking down the bridge of her
muzzle at Pollen as she bared her fangs at the now-trembling squire.

Knight and squire remained in a silent standstill for several agonizingly long heartbeats before
Tangletwist's growls switched into a purr. "Which is why I'll now be commending you to the Inner Court."

"What??"

Candytuft responded with a grin "You saved your sister's life kiddo. If that's not a feat of valor I don't
know what is."

"We'll still have to take your assessment of course, but even if that takes a while, congratulations.
Your informal training is complete." Tangletwist smiled at Pollen, nodding her head. "And congratulations
on the path as well, The Abundance is a strong one."

Pollen blinked up at his mentor, before he realized that he couldn't feel the flower crown around his
head anymore. He must have inhaled the flower-scent while he was in the river. He felt a bit dizzy at
the realization, though a small part of him was relieved that the decision was done with.

"Now come on, let's get you both to Lady Lotusseed"
