at last, the thaw has come. flower buds replace snowdrifts, and the land is freed from frost.
clan can expect to find more prey, more herbs, and more cats looking for a home. however,
predators have started coming out of hiding as well, and may pose extra threats in the nice
weather; beware to those who try to challenge them.

• newstar's patrol started off mostly uneventful until glassfang caught the scent of a dog. though somewhat stale, the pair of cats felt their fur bristle along their shoulders as they returned home to warn the rest of the clan. next moon, newstar can decide to send a patrol to find the dog and attempt to drive it away, or they can leave it alone and hope it's already left on its own...

• after tracking the scent for most of the morning, orestar's patrol finally encountered the dog and launched their attack. they were able to successfully drive the dog out of canaryclan's territory. during the attack, orestar sustained several bite marks. by the time they returned to camp, the bleeding hadn't let up and breezestorm determined that orestar needs to be treated with x1 goldenrod, x1 stinging nettle, and x2 moons of rest.

Echidnapaw hovered outside her father’s den, keeping herself low and out of sight. She was pretty sure she knew why she’d been summoned - she’d been paying attention to how well she had been doing compared to the others. And compared to the warriors. She could match them, paw for paw, easy. Well, some of them. Probably most of them. SHe hadn’t checked.

Voices drifted from inside the hollow. Eelstar, obviously. And that one was Terrapinclaw. Not unusual. The other two voices were though - her mentor, Deerfang, and Dingoswirl.

Echidnapaw held still, listening. Ears pricked, tail twitching. A hunter's crouch, although what she was hunting was Information.

The adults were talking far too quietly for her to hear them, and whoever was rustling behind her was not helping. She Refused to turn and give them the pleasure of acknowledgement.

A paw batted her flank, and despite her resolutely staring straight ahead, a scent filled her nose as Flounderpaw joined her on the branch.

“Is it happening ‘Chid? Are we -”

Her resolve was gone. “Well maybe if you were quiet I could tell[i/].” Her friend wasn’t cowed, flicking her gamely with his tail.

Saltclan welcomes Sunkit, Darkkit, & Dawnkit.
Three fuzzy bundles nuzzled into Redfur while the fourth lay in the center of camp surrounded by loving clanmates it would never know. Sunstone called to Starclan, asking them to welcome tiny Duskkit into their hunting grounds. Newstar sat vigil with Pineclaw, and at dawn they carried Duskkit's body to a broken cypress stump at the edge of the delta. They buried the kit among the dry roots. Pineclaw scratched the stump's bark as a marker, hardly knowing that this act would cement the Cypress Stump as Saltclan's burial grounds. Years from now, when many more Saltclan bodies would grace this stump, Pineclaw's mark would remain and persist; a dead tree's memory for the first lost kit.

Newstar leads Pineclaw, Copperleaf, & Oliveheart against the dog.
"We can't afford to stay passive," Newstar meowed. They sat in front of their assembled warriors with Glassfang at their side. Her report to the clan was that the dog was the same from the storefront, but it had traveled into the forest and crossed the clan's river border. "With the kits to protect, we have to take offensive action. I will lead a patrol to drive out the dog. Glassfang," they turned to their deputy. "You and Sunstone will stay in camp. It needs your protection and your leadership, should something happen to me." Glassfang's eyes hardened, but she nodded. Newstar continued. "Sunstone, I want you ready in case any cat comes back injured." Sunstone dipped his head; this was not an unfamiliar situation for a medicine cat. "With me I want Copperleaf, Oliveheart... and Pineclaw." Newstar winced apologetically. "I know it's hardly the opportune time, but I need you on this." Pineclaw stood at attention. "I will do anything to protect my family and my clan," he growled. Newstar smiled grimly. They looked each of their warriors in the eyes. "Let's go defend our borders."

Note to Mod: Feel free to roll on Newstar losing a life, and please roll for injuries. I'm not ready for death rolls on any cat other than Newstar though.

Sunstone taught Shinepaw about Starclan as he led the bright apprentice across the beach. "On the ships, we didn't have Starclan," said Shinepaw. "Chaplain would pray to the ocean and the wind to keep away storms." He looked up at the darkening sky. First Star had just appeared, still and serene above the horizon. "Mother says that cats who die at sea stay in the sea. Do you think..." Sunstone smiled kindly. "The only way to find out is to try."

arrived at the garden a few hours prior. "It's just..."

"Hard to believe?" Berryfrost finished with a dry chuckle, flicking an ear. "Trust me, I'm still trying to wrap my own
head around it all. I've been a part of Ivyclan since I was a kid, you'd think that might count for something but
apparently all it does is make me prime banishment material."

Berryfrost sighed, shaking her head. "I'll be honest, I don't know what kinda stupid thing I'd done if I hadn't
seen..." she trailed off, shaking her head again, eyes wide at the memory of the multi-faced spirit.

Lotusseed smiled, nodding in understanding. "If it helps, I can sense The Change's influence on you. It
provides a great amount of credibility to your tale. Why don't you go and get something to eat? let Cordy know
that you have our approval."

Berryfrost bowed slightly. "Thank you"

"No need to thank us," Dustythorn said with a nod. "The Change stepping in is not something to be ignored. If
they have vouched for you, then the least we can do is listen."



"Today, we have cause for celebration." Promisedrose said, standing underneath the curved archway that lay
just out of the way of the garden's center, the new sea oats from Saltclan planted near it's base. Her tail
was coiled over her paws, and she lifted her chin slightly as she spoke. "The sprout known as Spruce has
come of age to begin his squireship. Spruce, step into Evos's light."

The moon shone on the green-eyed youth as he took a few steps forward into the ring of moonlight
framed by the arbor.

"Today, Spruce begins his journey to become a Knight of the garden. Candytuft, you will train him as your
Squire."

The tabby stepped forward smoothly, giving Spruce a comforting smile as the young sprout blinked at him.

"Train well young Spruce, work hard and become a Knight that we can be proud of. May Evos guide you."
