With the announcement of Morninglight's pregnancy came a distinct lift in everyone's spirits. Even Clovespeck couldn't help but be happy for the couple. He had, after all, known them the longest even if he disagreed with their politics. The molly was insisting on continuing her duties, which Hollowsong had allowed her to do for one more moon. On top of all of that chatter, there was also building excitement over Buntingbelly's kits, who were due early next moon according to Hollowsong's calculations. With two expecting mothers, both dearly loved by the community, every cat was gathering anything soft that they could in their spare time. Lièvereshell was of course the most diligent, venturing deep into the caves to return with mouthfuls of moss, feathers, and fur to line the nests in the nursery that had been set up.
Petalstar had of course taken this opportunity to further her own means, and ensure that every nook and cranny of the caves was fully investigated, grabbing one or two bundles of moss on her way back every evening. The hardest part of this plan was actually convincing Sweetyam to stay back at camp and not accompany her. It was only her duty to the clan that separated the mottled molly from the leader's side.
It was on the third day of her explorations that Petalstar finally found it. She didn't know if she had hoped or feared this discovery, but it was here nonetheless. A small tunnel, reachable only through intense effort, with a strong breath of fresh air gusting through. The scouts had not found it as you had to swim through a pond to access it, and too many movements would awaken the Thing that they has seen swallow rats whole. Petalstar had found a way around this however, as in another part of the caves she had found a large, sturdy slab of wood, clearly touched by two legs, that was strong enough to hold her as she floated across the pond. She hoped that it was strong enough to withstand the Thing, but that had yet to be tested.
Staring at the pinprick of light at the end of the tunnel, the molly shifted back and forth, unsure of the right move. She already knew she couldn't tell the clan, they had just started to become cohesive. The question really was, should she follow the tunnel, or turn back and forget it existed the best she could?

It was in Petalstar's absence that a rather large and motley group stumbled into Sweetyam's patrol. The group looked much less dazed than the average cat, so the patrol was quickly on guard.
"Who are you?" Sweetyaw demanded, stepping to the front of the group, "Do you know that this is Cavernclan territory?"
"I told you I scented cats!" The silver molly beamed, shoving the tawny point with her shoulder gleefully.
"Okay, okay, you're right!" The tom laughed, then looked to the blue tom to his right, waiting for him to address Sweetyam.
In response, the larger tom stepped forward, offering a smile, "I'm Kano, this is my mate Delta, his sister, Adia, and our two companions of chance, Nightwhistle and Carrotwrinkle." He gestured first to the black and white molly, then to the hairless orange tabby. "We've been stuck in these caves about a week, and were hoping to find a way out?"
Clovespeck laughed harshly. "Good luck." He snapped, "We've been in here for five moons, and none of us have found a way out unless you can fly."
Nightwhistle glanced at the chocolate colored tom, frowning slightly, "No need to be so rude about it," she admonished, earning a shocked and a little abashed look from Clovespeck.
"So, you're our only hope then?" Carrotwrinkle interjected, not wanting the offense of the warrior to hurt their chances too much.
Sweetyam nodded, offering a half smile, "Yea, we're pretty much the best you've got. As long as you're willing to submit to the rules, we welcome you. Follow me back to the camp."

About an hour after the strangers arrived, Petalstar returned to camp, drenched but clutching a bundle of moss between her teeth. Hollowsong and Sweetyam bolted up, but the leader waved them back, "It's raining outside, I had no choice but to walk under several holes in the ceiling to get back, I'll be fine once I can warm up." She glanced at the large group of strange cats, then at Sweetyam, seeking an explanation.
"Fell in, like the rest of us." Sweetyam explained, "I've told them the rules and they're willing to abide by then in exchange for shelter and protection, and learning the lay of the land."
"Good enough for me," The leader smiled at the group, earning and enthusiastic wave from the silvery Molly, "They seem eager enough to be here."
"Oh, I don't think anything could dampen that one's spirits." Sweetyam chuckled, "She's nothing but sunshine."
"We can use some more of that around here," Petalstar murmured, spreading the bundle of moss out to dry.
