~Writing~
Dapplestar found herself walking home with two new cats. One a coming mother and an apprentice aged one. The mother had her tail wrapped around the length of the cat, seeming to guide it. Dapplestar saw he wasn’t blind, but he could have been deaf. She decided not to ask as it might come off as rude.

When they got to camp, she told the two cats they made it home. “Here’s where we call home,” She told the two cats.

Dapplestar looked down and saw the apprentice keep on walking. The older cat, that looked to have kits, put her tail in front of the cat’s body. He then stopped and looked around. The mother made sure he was looking and whacked her tail on the ground. The young one then sat and continued to look at his mother. She nodded to the cat and he looked at Dapplestar.

The older cat noticed that she was watching her. “I’m sorry he’s deaf. I have signals for him. It’s the only way he can hear,” She stuttered and looked down at her paws.

“That’s not his fault his dead. Nor is it ours. What you came up with is brilliant,” She looked down at the apprentice who was still looking at her. “Speaking of which, are you okay? You look tired beyond repair and you look a tiny bit round,”

“Yes. I am expecting kits, I have no clue when they will be coming. It could be a moon. But just like every other mother, I’ll take it one step at a time,” The she-cat looked forward then up at the sky.

Dapplestar nodded then looked at the white apprentice. “You said he’s deaf correct? I don’t know how we would train him. Unless Ladybugfoot is willing to take on one,” She said.

“Can I meet them?” She asked looking around at all of the den rock things. “They will help during kitting so I just want to meet them,”

Dapplestar nodded and padded forward. She glanced behind and then realized she had not named them yet. “But before that, I need to name you two. Can you and your ‘son’ come with me?” She asked beckoning the two cats to the burnt tree.

The mother wrapped her tail around the apprentice and lead him up. Then when they got to the top, the mother put her tail around the white cats paws.

“All cats old enough to hunt please come for a clan meeting!” She yowled. This was her first time doing this, but the cats seemed to know what she meant.

All of the cats started to gather. First Liongrowl, then Windpaw, and lastly Ladybugfoot. They sat under the shade of the branch and looked up.

“Cats of Leafclan,” She began. “We have two new cats to this clan. One a mother and one an apprentice,” The cat’s from below looked up. Dapplestar looked over to the mother. “Your shiny white pelt reminds me of seeing a deer run. Your voice reminds me of the calling of animals I hear every night. You henceforth will be known as Doesong,” She touched noses with the cat and looked down at the deaf kit.

She looked down at him and felt horrible. He would never hear this ceremony, but his mother would try and help with it. And with that, she began. “Your flowing white pelt in the breeze makes me think of the leaves on a tree. Ever apprentice’s name end with paw. Henceforth you will be known as Treepaw,”

She looked over at the mother who was guiding her tail up his flank. She then touched his paw and looked over to the leader. “I don’t know what to say for getting him to touch noses. Is it okay if I just do it to him for you?” She asked.

Dapplestar looked over feeling pity for the kit. “Of course,” She said at looked over all of the cats. “I have chosen a mentor for this deaf cat. Ladybugfoot, will you please step forward,” She asked and saw the medicine cat step forward and up the tree.

“It will be a challenge to teach a deaf cat, but I think you can handle it. Herbs would be easier for him than the others he would need to learn,” She stepped back as she watched the. Mother trying to get her son to touch noses. She then gave up and touched noses with him again and it was over.

─ Last Moon ─

Marine stumbled into what he knew to be clan territory. He had heard his father talking of where he had attacked some cats. He had ran away from his father's rogue group, wanting a new life away from them. His father told him that this "clan" was a pack of passive cats, since they refused to attack first. However, they must not be too passive since they gave his father a nasty scar on his flank. "Serves that jerk right..." Marine had his own scars, gifted to him from his own father. He refused to call the tom by his new name that everyone called him, Devil. After all, the tom was willing to attack anyone, his son wasn't safe from that list.
Marine came upon a patrol of cats.
"State your business on our territory, or leave." The silver she-cat said firmly, her eyes narrowed.
Marine dipped his head to the group. "I wish to join your clan, miss." He conformed, hating being so formal and vulnerable to the other cats. He didn't quite trust the group, but he knew they at least wouldn't attack him until he attacked first. In his head, he was still playing the game of survival.
The silver she-cat took a step closer, dipping her head back to him. "If you're looking to join us, come back to our camp to meet the Chieftain. He'll deem if you're worthy of our trust." She told him, turning back to the group.
Marine reluctantly followed. He felt his tension slowly falling, feeling safer already in the presence of the she-cat.
"So what do you go by?" He whispered to her.
She looked a little confused by the interaction, but continued to lead the patrol unfazed. "I'm Blizzardpaw. You?" She casually answered.
"Marine. You know, like the ocean and stuff." He explained, eyeballing the other cats in the patrol. They all seemed pretty average, but he could tell that their eye was on him if he slipped up. His father talked a lot of smack about the clan, saying that they were friendly to strangers. His attacked must of changed that a bit. "This Chieftain of yours', is he fair?" He asked, feeling a little nervous.
Blizzardpaw let out a little chuckle. "He should be, he's my father after all."
The blue tom narrowed his eyes, huffing. "Yeah, well not all fathers are what they should be."
Blizzardpaw looked Marine in the eyes, seeing the pain behind them. She dropped the subject, leading him onto the clan's beach. "Here's the glory of Shoreclan." She announced to him.
Marine followed closely behind Blizzardpaw, puffing out his chest. He refused to appear weak to the other cats, not knowing if they would cut out weakness. Blizzardpaw took him to a smart looking tom, looking almost identical to her. Marine smiled, recognizing the similarities.
"Why hello there, sir." Jasminestar smiled at Marine. Sitting down, the Chieftain continued. "Are you looking to join our clan?" He questioned.
He nodded, lowering his head. "Yes, I'm Marine. If you'll have me, I can help protect your borders from intruders."
Jasminestar narrowed his eyes, seeming to try to see Marine's soul. "We've had some issues on our borders. Would you happen to know anything about that?"
Marine gulped, nervous. "No. I've only heard rumors of your clan, that's what brought me here." He knew he couldn't tell him about his father. He would look like an idiot coming to the place that had just been terrorized by his cruel father.
"Then I welcome you to join Shoreclan. You will be known as Marinewalker here, I hope you bring honor to yourself." He touched noses with the blue tom.
Marine felt proud to be apart of a group that wasn't out only for themselves. Shoreclan seemed better than that, they were here to prosper. He felt cold eyes digging into his back. As he turned to follow Blizzardpaw for a tour, he noticed a tabby tom glaring at him with spite. He noticed the fresh scar on him. 'Was he one of the cats my father attacked? Can he tell that I'm that monster's son?' He could already feel his lie start to come undone. However, he decided to stick to his story. He can't turn back on it now.

newleaf -- the cold weather has finally left, and prey and predators alike have decided to come out in full force. while prey isn't as plentiful as it would be in greenleaf, the abundance compared to leafbare is not an unwelcome sight. new cats are more common as well as they search for a new home after a harsh leafbare. floods or sickness are still possible, so it's important medicine cats keep herbs at paw and warriors keep their wits about them on patrols.
