Glintpaw's paws shifted as she stared up at the machinery. Her hazel eyes darted across the metal, and her ears were pinned against the side of her head.

Glintpaw wasn't the smartest branch on the tree, she knew that. She wasn't a fighter either, from what Solarstar had told her, when he'd found her, Glintpaw had a feeling she'd have done much better in Probity, or even Comity. But no. She'd had to join when the only adult cat who wasn't high ranking (or, in other words, the only cat who could train her since Solarstar was the Champion and Ambermask's Therapist To-Be was required to be clanborn, according to Solarstar) was Creekshine.

And since Creekshine was a Scientist,a proud (and smart) member of Scholar.

Well guess where that left Glintpaw.

Creekshine rested his tail on Glintpaw's back, and she turned to stare at him. "I...I don't think I can do this." she whimpered "I'm not smart enough, not for...not for anything like this. I don't think I can-"

"Shhh," Creekshine said. "It's alright, thats why you have me to train you. I'll teach you everything you need to know to become a Scientist." he paused, then added "But, it is, in the end, up to you. You need to put in the effort to learn, to put your report together. That all depends on you."

Glintpaw looked down at her feet, and slowly asked "And...what if I can't do it?"

Creekshine hesitated, then sighed. "If you can't, I will personally see to it that you make it safely to a new clan."

Glintpaw shook her head "I don't-" she stammered "I don't want to go somewhere else. I've...I've been running for too long."

She took a deep breath, then turned her head to meet her mentor's gaze. "Please, teach me. I...I'll learn whatever I need to. But I can't move away. Not...not again."

Creekshine stared at her, eyes swimming with concern, before sighing, and nodding. "Alright, come on then, we don't want to waste any time."

As Glintpaw and Creekshine left the factory, Ambermask made her way over to Solarstar.

"Well?" the tom growled.

Ambermask sighed, and sat next to him. "I believe Glintpaw will manage to rise up and succeed as a Scientist, she'll need some help, that's for certain, but Creekshine is very patient, he'll be able to help her. I do wish she hadn't found us just yet, she would make for a better Savior, or possibly a Judge, but the stars will do what they deem best."

Ambermask turned towards the factory entrance as she continued. "Glintpaw does seem to have something she's hiding, something from her past. I don't believe it's any threat to us, in fact..." Ambermask sighed "I think it's more of a...personal ghost."

Solarstar nodded. "Good." he responded. "Keep an eye on her, ensure that Creekshine is well suited to her training. Otherwise...the both of them may as well be chosen and killed now."

Clan Tradition:
When an apprentice is ready to become a warrior, they shall go on a week long quest into the Two-Leg territory on the western boarder, where they will look for a monkey by the name of Fitzgerald, and he will make their new clan collar for them. If they succeed then they shall be welcomed back to the clan as a full warrior, if they do not then they will have to train for an additional moon before they are able to try again. If they fail a second time, they are banished from the clan for weakness and a disrespect for clan tradition and law.

Skinknose blinked away a tear as she curled her tail tightly around the four kits snuggled next to her belly. “Have you thought of names yet?” Owlgaze asked gently, a smile painted on her lips. “Raviolinose taught me some words in French the last time we met.” She mused “I was thinking of giving them French prefixes. In ChessClan, it’s their tradition.” Riversnap purred. “That’s a lovely idea.” She agreed, pulling Newtkit closer to her as he tried escaping her grasp. The mother tilted her head. “I was thinking Poirekit for this one.” Skinknose murmured, licking the ticked brown tom “Museaukit for her.” She nuzzled her daughter. Looking at her next son, she chuckled at his appearance. His tiny white paws contrasted perfectly against his spikey, unkempt fur. “Chardonkit for him. It means thistle, and his fur looks very spiky.” Ibisheart let out a little giggle at this, and Featherkit joined her. Skinknose moved her tail slightly to get a closer look at her final kit, a small brown tom. He was facing the wrong way, though. When the tail moved, the fur tickled his nose, causing him to let out a quiet yet very adorable sneeze. Skinknose smiled fondly at him. “Éternuementkit.” Suddenly, a brown head peaked into the nursery. Skinknose looked up and purred when she saw Turtlepaw. Oriolepaw and Picklepaw were close behind her, and all three were eager to meet their new siblings. “They’re so cute!” Turtlepaw gasped, hurrying over and smiling broadly when Poirekit opened his small jaws in a yawn. Oriolepaw sat next to his sister, and purred as Chardonkit rolled over on his back, earning a squeak of protest from Museaukit. Picklepaw nuzzled her mother. “We’re so proud of you, mama!” She purred, licking her ear. “Did you come to a decision?” Oriolepaw gently asked. Skinknose nodded. “I’ve decided that some of them need to be raised in ChessClan. Richterscreech will take good care of them. Scinquepaw and Tritonpaw have done well there, and so will they. I’ll take them to the border next moon so they can meet. But for now, I think I’ll take a nap and enjoy their company.” Skinknose purred and nuzzled all four of her newborns. The three apprentices nodded and ushered themselves out of the den, leaving their mother and their new siblings to rest.

Agaricthroat shifted his weight to prevent one of the kits from sliding off his shoulders. “Caniskit stop moving, you're going to fall.” He scolded quietly, voice muffled by the kit hanging from his jaws. “Why do I have to stay up here?” The brown tom whined. “Because daddy’s holding Siriuskit and I’m more mature than you, so I get to walk beside him!” Lyrakit explained proudly, her tiny paws moving quickly to catch up with her father’s strides. “Lyrakit, remember what I told you.” Agaricthroat warned “Not everyone knows that you’re my kits, and it might be best to keep it that way.” Siriuskit furrowed his brow. “Why?” He asked softly, tilting his head back to look at Agaricthroat “I thought you said RavenClan accepted you.” Agaricthroat smiled. “They do, but Ghostspirit’s Clan doesn’t know, and I promised him I would keep it on the down low.” Caniskit flopped on his belly again, earning a grunt from his carrier. “How much farther until we get there.” The young tom sighed impatiently. “Agaricthroat!” A voice called. The tom paused, and Caniskit felt a purr rumble through his body. A dark spotted tom trotted up to the group. “Are these the kits?” He asked in a hushed tone. Agaricthroat nodded, bouncing Siriuskit lightly. “Could you help me carry them back to camp?”

Haypelt was overjoyed. Partially because he was one of the four cats who knew who the kits’ real parents were, but mostly because they were just so adorable. Agaricthroat may have promised Ghostspirit to keep their mateship secret, but he always was a bad liar, and his friends picked up on a change rather quickly. Now the group was sitting around the kits, watching them get introduced. Riversnap’s litter had immediately wanted to greet the new trio, and Swankit was close to follow. Weaselstar was also sitting with the group, but he was too oblivious for Agaricthroat to be worried about. “There were six.” He purred quietly “We got to split them evenly!” Jaguarslip beamed. “I’m so happy for you, Agaricthroat!” He sighed “I can’t wait for Seismicwhisper and I to finally have our kits. Ibisheart said she would use her powers for us once Featherkit is an apprentice!” Riversnap turned her attention to her friend. “Really? That’s great! Can’t wait to meet them, I’m sure they’ll be adorable.” Haypelt looked fondly at his friends and the kits. He couldn’t help but notice, though, that his gaze started to drift to a calico she-cat sitting on the other side of the clearing.

Smallsika strutted into the shaman’s den. “Hello, Droserathorn.” She purred silkily, circling him. The shaman just grunted in greeting, attention soaked up by the herbs he was sorting. The she-cat gave a frustrated pout. She wasn’t making a lot of progress in her challenge of seducing Droserathorn. He had a mate, sure, but Smallsika knew that meant nothing. Usually by now, she would have a rom wrapped around her paw, but the shaman had proven time and time again just how stubborn he could be. “Do you just sit here and sort herbs all day?” She giggled. Droserathorn flicked an ear. “It’s kind of my job.” He snapped. Smallsika was taken aback. The shaman sighed. “Sorry,” He muttered “I promised Riversnap I would try and control my temper.” He rose to his paws. “I’m just stressed. We caught another scent of the rogues near the border, but closer this time.” Smallsika sighed and walked closer to him, resting a paw on his. “You know, when I get upset, a walk always calms me down. Maybe you need to get out of camp.” She suggested gently. The tom’s ears pricked up. “Yea that’s a good idea.” He murmured before turning and exiting the den. “W-Wait where are you going?” The she-cat squeaked. Droserathorn looked over his shoulder, furrowing his brow. “Going to ask Weaselstar if he wants to take a walk.” He said. Smallsika’s mouth opened and closed, but before she could say anything, he waved his tail. “See you around, Smallsika.” He sighed and walked across the hallway to the leader’s den. The white warrior licked her lips. She had meant a walk with her, but she digressed. He had promised to see her later. Her tail curled victoriously over her back. Progress was still progress, no matter how slow it was.

“Oh it was amazing, Droserathorn, you should have been there!” Weaselstar gushed. Droserathorn had asked him how his visit in TwistedClan had been, and his friend had been talking about it since they left camp. They were now walking around the river bank, which was a good while away. “I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.” The shaman purred “Swankit is so adorable, and she and my litter get along great.” Weaselstar puffed his chest out proudly. “I promised Lynxshine I would have them become friends. You know, I met Snowdrift’s brother in TwistedClan. I haven’t gotten the chance to tell her, but he seems to be doing really well! He and the leader are sweethearts, it’s very cute.” Droserathorn nodded. “It is nice to have you back. I missed you, buddy.” He sighed, eyes still ahead of him “The day seems brighter with you here.” Weaselstar blushed and his face puffed up in a smile. “Droserathorn, you know you’re my best friend. I missed you too-” He was cut off by his companion’s paw shoving him over. The leader let out a squeak as he tumbled down the ledge and plopped into the river, causing a large splash. Droserathorn laughed loudly as Weaselstar’s dripping face emerged from the cool water. “I told you, the sun is shining more.” He said between laughs “I was getting overheated and thought of a swim. How’s the water?” Weaselstar scowled and leaped up, wrapping his soaked forepaws around the tom’s neck and collapsing back, dragging Droserathorn into the water with him.

The black she-cat trudged along the faint path. She had heard from her old clanmates of a group in a cemetery that was along the ChessClan border. They had neglected to mention how far away RavenClan really was. The apprentice had been wandering for days, and every one of her muscles ached from exhaustion and grief. She had met a smaller kit along the way, a small she-kit named Rabbit. The young kit was drifting to sleep, bumping into her legs as they walked. “Come on,” the apprentice groaned “We’re almost there.” Rabbit whined. “You said that yesterday.” She whimpered. Suddenly, a bush rustled ahead of them, and the she-cat’s tiredness quickly vanished. She found a small clump of ferns and quietly hid Rabbit within the leaves. She braced herself in a battle stance and shook her head violently to keep herself aware. A charcoal bengal trudged through the bush haphazardly and paused when he saw the she-cat, causing the ginger she-cat behind him to bump into his rear. She rubbed her nose, and then raised her hackles. “It’s alright, Marshflower.” The bengal soothed. He took a few steps forward and gave a gentle smile. “Hey, my name is Jaguarslip. Are you from ChessClan?” He asked. The black she cat shrugged. “I used to be.” She rasped “Are you from RavenClan? I was told to come here.” Jaguarslip nodded in understanding. “Of course. You look like you’ve been through a lot. What’s your name, sweetheart?” The she-cat blinked. She wanted to leave her past behind, but she couldn’t just abandon her family. It was who she was. But everytime she would hear ‘Altocumulus’, she would think of Cumuluspaw. Tears spiked at her eyes, but she took a steady breath. “Stratuspaw,” She meowed “My name is Stratuspaw.” It was still a cloud name, but it gave her just enough distance that it wouldn’t tear a hole in her heart each time a cat called her. Jaguarslip smiled. “Okay, Stratuspaw.” He whispered. He noticed a flash of brown fur behind Stratuspaw’s legs. “Do you have a friend with you?” Stratuspaw moved to the side, where Rabbit was cowering. “Oh, is she ChessClan too?” Stratuspaw shook her head. “No, I met her on the journey.” She rasped “We’re both really tired.” Marshflower hurried forward and carefully scooped up the kit. “We’ll take you to Droserathorn.” Jaguarslip nodded “Then we can get you settled.” Stratuspaw appreciatively accepted the tom’s shoulder to lean on, and the four cats went home.

↪ monarchdawn sought to catch one more rabbit before the day was over, though it seemed like her prey was determined to live as she thundered
towards it. she took a chance and leapt, paws outstretched to catch it from behind and wrestle it to the ground before delivering the killing blow.
it seems her eyes deceived her, as what she clawed into wasn't a rabbit - but a hare. it made a noise of both terror and pain as it turned and
pounded at her with its large hind legs. she barely felt it kick the side of her head before she suddenly found herself in the dark forest, frozen
in silent shock as she realized she had died so young.

territory - batclan is situated in a dark swamp/marshland with a few hills that create small cliffs, due to their territory they live in a cave system in one of the small cliffs. their territory is filled with tall trees that for the most part cover the sky, they only have a few patches in their territory that get good sunshine. their territory is pretty close to a huge twoleg neighbourhood, which doesn't really cause them issues other than during greenleaf when sometimes teenagers go into their territory and destroy bits of their land.

religion - the cats of batclan believe in a large silhouette of a creature that resides in the trees and watches them from above. there are stories of the creature leaving the trees twice a moon to flock prey and bring it to their territory. it's said that afterwards the creature can be seen sitting in the deep area of the swampy waters with bats circling him, waiting for any cat to come to him. most cats fear him and find the image of a large silhouette with no visible eyes or emotion something only the dark forest could create.

reputation - batclan has an interesting reputation. they are quite secretive cats and no cats outside of their own really know what is going on with them. their secretive nature usually causes cats to be afraid of them. they are quite proud and would never ask another group for help. however despite this if they were to find a cat injured or in need of help they would offer them everything they have to make sure they were okay. they would never show this empathy publicly and would naturally warn any cat to not speak of the help they received.
