The Whitebark Clan has a very clean reputation, as the cats among its ranks absolutely despise unruly behavior. The clan, as a whole, has very little interest in getting involved in the issues of other clans – alliances with Whitebark are few and far between and typically only last a year or two before being dissolved. General isolation from various other cat groups has prevented the clan from receiving too much backlash regarding their mentality of "Whitebark over all". Whitebark’s good reputation is mostly kept intact due to the clan’s wandering warriors, who are often even-tempered and good-natured, always willing to give their services to cats in need of help.

Generally, Whitebark cats have been perceived to be exceptionally calm and orderly creatures. They are very proud and hold themselves to high standards – often resulting in a number of them secretly looking down on the cats of other clans if they do not meet said standards. They are extremely polite when dealing with outsiders, and incredibly respectful to those belonging to other clans. Whitebark cats are strict rule-followers and have, over the years, developed a number of rules for the future generations of their clan to follow.
Individual personalities are allowed to shine within Whitebark. Where some cats may be reasonably peaceful individuals, others can be brusque and downright rude. So long as each cat shows proper respect to their seniors and cats outside the clan and makes sure to maintain enough pride to keep their clan from losing face, cats are allowed to express their bolder personalities.

The only entrance into Whitebark territory is through a shallow mountain pass which can be easily identified by a line of the clan’s namesake, white-barked trees. The further into Whitebark territory one travels, the bigger the trees grow and the steeper the cliffs on either side of the territory begin to climb. A veil of clouds normally rests just above the treetops, secluding the clan even further by keeping them out of sight. At the back of the clan’s territory is another rocky wall, split at an angle by a roaring waterfall. The river keeps mostly to one side of the territory, dropping off into a series of layered waterfalls and pools before cutting across the land to line up with the opposite wall. The river's stepping stones would technically allow the clan to explore past it, but the cats are content with the land they’ve already secured and have no desire to expand.
Whitebark’s camp is settled against one of the cliffsides, surrounded by thick underbrush. The entrance to the clan’s camp is a small tunnel dug out from beneath a massive fallen tree. Rocky ledges and outcroppings form a number of the clan’s dens, and the camp is situated more vertically rather than spread out in a clearing.

New clan! :3 Lupine will be taking over as leader. Full names are as follows: Lupine that Dances in Wind, Sable Feather of Ruffled Crow, Bramble that Traps Fox, and Bee that Guards Honey (although, she's actually Bramble's Bee right now, since that's how apprentice names will work in my clan).

This Moon
Maplepaw jerked her head up as Foggyprance's loud voice echoed through the camp. "Oh, great," she sighed. "Let me guess. Swimming." As Fernpaw pricked her ears excitedly, Otterpaw gave Maplepaw a shove out of the den. Spiderpaw lurked at the back of the den, half-asleep. "Don't tell me I have to try and swim with you, Fernpaw?" Maplepaw rumbled, a yawn tumbling out of her mouth as the older apprentice nodded happily.

"Yup! Great, isn't it? I hope I can swim first try!" Ignoring Maplepaw's grumble of you probably will, Fernpaw bounced out of the den, eyes bright with optimism. Foggyprance beckoned her over, his mate - her mentor, she recalled - standing next to him. "Hi, Foggy!" she chirped. "Hi, Sedge!"

"Foggyprance," the deputy corrected gently, nudging Sedgewatcher forwards. Junipermuzzle hovered behind them; Fernpaw guessed she was waiting for Otterpaw, her apprentice. "Sedgewatcher is leading you, Junipermuzzle, and Otterpaw on a patrol," Foggyprance explained. "Afterwards, Sedgewatcher will take you to join me and Maplepaw for a swimming session."

As Fernpaw turned her glowing face up towards her fluffy mentor, she heard a scuffle from behind as Otterpaw catapulted out of the den.

"Patchedslip!" the apprentice screeched, colliding with his mother as she approached for the hunting patrol. The molly jumped back, eyes wide. Otterpaw continued past her, and landed in a heap at Junipermuzzle's paws.

"..Otterpaw?" Patchedslip asked in confusion, tail curling up as she stifled a chuckle. The spotted tabby apprentice spun back around, his brown fur fluffing out in embarrassment. "Oh, hi mother!" he cheered in his thick Scottish accent.

Fernpaw settled down, surveying the mother and son. Her ears twitched, still unused to the wide variety of accents within ThicketClan. Patchedslip and all her family seemed to have the same strong accent!

Maplepaw sloped past, fur still a total mess from sleeping. A quiet glare was directed at Otterpaw, and Fernpaw recalled the scuffle the siblings had already had that morning.

"Hi, Spider!" Fernpaw called into the den, swiveling away from Sedgewatcher. "You got a patrol to do!"

"Does it include swimming?" Spiderpaw asked wearily, approaching Fernpaw. She spotted Maplepaw stiffening, obviously feeling irritated that her brother had already been approved for the swimming skill, despite his apparent fear of water.

Fernpaw shrugged cheerfully. "Maybe! It depends on what your mother decides. I'm on border patrol," she smiled, turning her adoring gaze back to Sedgewatcher. "I love border patrols."

Spiderpaw shot a cautious look at Patchedslip, who rolled her eyes at her son. "No, we won't go swimming. How you were born in CoveClan I simply don't know!" A flick of her whiskers and the patrol was off, Maplepaw lagging behind and Spiderpaw flanking his mentor.

Littledusk nudged Almondpaws out of the camp, Barkskip following. Almondpaws shot a longing look after Junipermuzzle, having wanted to talk to her. But perhaps she could catch her later, after patrolling.

Batshriek's loud caterwauling echoed through the forest, and Almondpaws' ears flicked irritably. How on earth would he expect to catch anything? But Littledusk had leapt ahead, and she bounded afterwards. Barkskip wandered quietly after them.

Littledusk nodded calmly and began to pull up the moss/brambles/stones/sticks. Barkskip and Almondpaws huddled around him, gathering the materials and tucking them underneath their chins.

Spiderpaw let out a low moan of disbelief as Batshriek let out a howl. "Maplepaw trod on my paw," he whined, lifting up his pulsing foot to examine. "It hurts."

"Well don't act like a baby about it then," Maplepaw hissed. Her mentor, Foggyprance, spun around with a flash of his meadow green eyes. Maplepaw shivered, glaring at Batshriek. "His fault."

Spiderpaw pressed his muzzle against her flank, his blue eyes glowing with sympathy. He skipped after his mentor happily, ignoring his tiny whispers when he put his paw down. Maybe he had a sore claw, but it couldn't be bad.

areli asked as the she-cat in question appeared at the side of her vision, shadowed by the height of the cliffs. the molly moved closer in silence until she plopped herself right down next to her, she smiled faintly at her friend as they sat underneath the stars together. ``you’ve been distant lately, I wanted to come visit you.`` lachesis spoke, her normally cold calculating tone showing a hint of worry which areli brushed off, `` it’s really nothing, I just...I’m worried about the thing. What if more of my cats are...thinged? I...there’s plenty of us but I can’t help but worry one more push is all it’s takes for the entire foundation I built to just...crumble.`` areli felt her heart sink as she listed her worries, nothing like this would’ve ever happened had she stayed back home. matteo, goddesses matteo! so young yet his life had been ripped away by...by...that fein!

she felt lachesis’s paw over her own and a comforting purr made her look up into the beautiful- no that’s inappropriate- marshy green eyes, she noticed she was shaking and struggling to hide tears. well, that was new. when was the last time she cried? she couldn’t cry! this was her subject- even if it was lachesis, who she would give her life for - crying was not allowed for evanora’s sake! ``it’s okay, I understand.`` came the quiet voice from beside- no, in front- of her.

``my father,`` lachesis started. ``he murdered someone, before I came here. it was...``she trailed off. ``mother was so worried about him, she constantly asked me- she was kept in her twoleg’s nest - why he wasn’t coming back. he...he...he...he...`` then her speech broke off into a faint sob and she settled into the ground away from areli. ``it’s fine, lachesis. you don’t have to tell me.``

The sound of pawsteps alerted areli to another cat in the area, it was featherdusk- a fluffy tom who had fathered a little not too long ago. He was shy and sweet, with a heart of honey according to iolantha and adiran but areli had never spoke to the ragdoll aside from pleasantries on patrol. `` i’ll distract him, okay?``

lachesis nodded with a sniffle.

featherdusk and areli talk about parenthood, areli mentioning she has no plans for kits but you never know. featherdusk struggles to understand how involved he should be in his kit’s lives.

hinata loved having a codename, it was so cool to talk to her buddy without the use of a name. hinata’s nickname was ‘bird’ which was boring when you thought of how her buddy got the cool nickname ‘fujin’ from her. maybe she would request a cooler nickname in due time but that wasn’t what the meeting was about.
``i think areli knows, i saw her talking with a cat up by the cliff. `` fujin said, resting their head on the stone with a groan. ``who was she talking to?`` hinata asked, her paws tapping carefully against the stone as she went out to see if anyone was listening in. nobody, she moved back.

``i couldn’t see their face but I found a patch of fur once they left. brown, who could that be?``

GAH IM SO SORRY for like, not appearing for weeks but I’ve been pretty busy revising for exams and the like- in the meantime until exam season is over have the start of the snake plot - Lachesis actually appears for once! Whose the next murder victim? Why hasn’t a certain someone been caught yet? Why is it called the snake plot? Side note: the snake plot is crucial to the romance plot! please vote on the poll in the archive- if you read this!

the river gurgled quietly, with the very last leaves flittering playfully in the wind. the tranquil silence was broken by a faint rustling, growing closer until the two figures came into view. a brown tabby, wrenstar, led the hunting party of two, his ears swivelling slightly as he listened for the faintest scuffles of prey. the molly behind him was less focused, her blue eyes darting about, just watching the flora sway in the wind.

wrenstar paused abruptly, causing the distracted molly to stagger to a halt. "be careful driftingcloud," he announced, "there's a drop-off by the riverbank."

"i didn't know you had a river here!" driftingcloud practically gasped, tail rippling excitedly behind her. wrenstar fondly shook his head at her dramatics, smirking as he repeated his warning.

"i see you're excited, but please be careful-" she cut him off with a hurried nod, before plunging through the bushes with a loud whoop. once again, wrenstar found himself smiling, scaling down the slope with significantly more caution.

driftingcloud skidded wildly down the steep riverbank, starting to stumble as she reached the river's edge. with a shout she fell, forelegs splaying out in the shallow waters, her rump raised comically in the air. "are you okay?!" wrenstar yelped with worry, rushing over to the molly and pulling her to her feet by the scruff.

her sky blue eyes gazed back at him, dazed for a moment or two. suddenly, amusement sparked in them, and driftingcloud started to giggle. wrenstar tried to keep his face serious, but barely lasted more than a heartbeat before breaking out into chuckles.

the two built on eachother, finding the joy contagious as their laughs crescendoed into an uproar. neither sounded particular graceful. wrenstar's deep chortles were interjected with loud snorts, while driftingcloud's laughs were bright and high-pitched, but with the loud, raucous quality one might liken to the call of a crow. neverless, through the rose-tinted glasses of affection, nothing could've sounded sweeter.

as the two quieted down, bodies still left shaking from the outburst, they both gazed down at their reflections in the water. the two sat, leaning on eachother. they pretended not to notice, or perhaps, blamed it on the leafbare chill, as they snuggled in a little closer.

"you should've listened to me." wrenstar tutted, breaking the silence. driftingcloud hid a snort behind her paw. "oh, sure thing, you protective little mother hen." he gasped in mock offense, nose crinkling up as he objected. "i'm not a mother hen.. and i'm not that little either!"

"oh, mother wren..." driftingcloud continued to tease. "you really are a little shorty shortpants." to emphasize, she slapped a dripping paw down on shorter tom's head, causing him to flinch away with a squeak. "gah, your paws are wet! and what even are pants?!" he yowled, caused the molly to burst into another fit of laughter.

after a while, the duo would surely return to hunting, but for now, they fit snugly together, for there was no sweeter remedy for the chills of leafbare than the being in the company of eachother.

oh, how her paws ached.

sootwhisker crested the hill with a huff, flopping down into the crinkling leaves. the deputy had been patrolling nonstop since just after dawn, and with the sun now high in the sky, she decided it was time to rest.

she turned her face towards the mountains in the distance, eyes tracing the curves of the clouds gathering just above their peaks. a cold wind buffeted her face, and she realized those approaching clouds would likely bring the first snows of leafbare. by becoming deputy, sootwhisker had accepted a large responsibility. she'd have to stray strong for them, and keep them safe.

even then, everyone needed to rest, so sootwhisker remained in place, eyes transfixed on the horizon.

she was broken out of her reverie by approaching pawsteps. she whipped her head around to see a thick-furred tom calmly gazing at her from the other side of the border. "greetings," he started. "i hope i haven't disturbed you."

"oh, it's no problem.." sootwhisker mewed, stretching as she rose to meet him. "i'm sootwhisker, deputy of buddingclan. what brings you here?"

the tom bowed his head politely. "my name is zephyr, and i'm a wanderer from the north." he directed sootwhisker's eyes towards the mountains in the distance, before continuing to speak. "i heard rumors of a clan setting up in these foothills, and with leafbare approaching, i decided it's time for me to finally settle down."

sootwhisker sat down, and invited him across the border with a wave of her tail. "i'm sure you have many stories to tell." she mewed, tilting her head curiously.

zephyr seemed to relax, losing his stiff cordiality and smiling proudly. "of course i do, but perhaps we shall leave those for another time, hm?" zephyr moved forward to flank sootwhisker. "which way is your camp?" he asked, tail twitching slightly.

sootwhisker stretched her paws one last time, before padding down the hill, beckoning zephyr forward. "it's on that hill near the center of our territory. don't worry, i'm sure our clan would welcome you with open paws!"

zephyr followed after a brief pause, continuing to politely chat with sootwhisker as the two disappeared into the bushes.

The Whitebark Clan has a very clean reputation, as the cats among its ranks absolutely despise unruly behavior. The clan, as a whole, has very little interest in getting involved in the issues of other clans – alliances with Whitebark are few and far between and typically only last a year or two before being dissolved. General isolation from various other cat groups has prevented the clan from receiving too much backlash regarding their mentality of "Whitebark over all". Whitebark’s good reputation is mostly kept intact due to the clan’s wandering warriors, who are often even-tempered and good-natured, always willing to give their services to cats in need of help.

Generally, Whitebark cats have been perceived to be exceptionally calm and orderly creatures. They are very proud and hold themselves to high standards – often resulting in a number of them secretly looking down on the cats of other clans if they do not meet said standards. They are extremely polite when dealing with outsiders, and incredibly respectful to those belonging to other clans. Whitebark cats are strict rule-followers and have, over the years, developed a number of rules for the future generations of their clan to follow.
Individual personalities are allowed to shine within Whitebark. Where some cats may be reasonably peaceful individuals, others can be brusque and downright rude. So long as each cat shows proper respect to their seniors and cats outside the clan and makes sure to maintain enough pride to keep their clan from losing face, cats are allowed to express their bolder personalities.

The only entrance into Whitebark territory is through a shallow mountain pass which can be easily identified by a line of the clan’s namesake, white-barked trees. The further into Whitebark territory one travels, the bigger the trees grow and the steeper the cliffs on either side of the territory begin to climb. A veil of clouds normally rests just above the treetops, secluding the clan even further by keeping them out of sight. At the back of the clan’s territory is another rocky wall, split at an angle by a roaring waterfall. The river keeps mostly to one side of the territory, dropping off into a series of layered waterfalls and pools before cutting across the land to line up with the opposite wall. The river's stepping stones would technically allow the clan to explore past it, but the cats are content with the land they’ve already secured and have no desire to expand.
Whitebark’s camp is settled against one of the cliffsides, surrounded by thick underbrush. The entrance to the clan’s camp is a small tunnel dug out from beneath a massive fallen tree. Rocky ledges and outcroppings form a number of the clan’s dens, and the camp is situated more vertically rather than spread out in a clearing.

New clan! :3 Lupine will be taking over as leader. Full names are as follows: Lupine that Dances in Wind, Sable Feather of Ruffled Crow, Bramble that Traps Fox, and Bee that Guards Honey (although, she's actually Bramble's Bee right now, since that's how apprentice names will work in my clan).

Bloomseed was alone and investigating. She was trying to piece together all the clues she had found. It was a troublesome task, as she couldn't quite figure it out. But just like that, a light bulb flickered in her head. She let out a quiet gasp. "I know the answer. I know who did it."

Acornclan was busy today. There were new warriors here and new apprentices there. The clan also had their first medicine cat apprentice. Rabbitnose knew she was getting old so she was overjoyed when Echopaw was talking about it. The clan was happy and content.

Dustbreeze sat in the sun and watched Rabbitnose, with Echopaw in tow, run into the nursery. It appears Emberstorm was kitting today. He couldn't care less, even if he was a part of her alliance. She wasn't a trust worthy cat. Later today he will train Silentpaw some more. She was helping with the elders for the time being. He was about to have a quick nap when he spotted Bloomseed come skipping by.

"Good morning," he greeted. She stopped in her tracks. "Oh, Dustbreeze!"
"How's the investigation going?" he asked in a hushed voice.
"Actually, I think I've finally figured it out," she replied, a grim expression appearing on her face. "It took many moons but I think I have it now." He jumped to his paws.
"Who is it?"
She shook her head. "I'm not telling you just like that. I have business to attend to."
He shuffled his paws. "S-sure... That's fine. What do you have to do?"
She laughed and she went back to her usual mood. "Nothing much. I just need to talk to Foxfang about something. He's with Emberstorm at the moment."
He nodded with her words. He knew they were siblings so he decided not to press about it. It might be personal. "Come find me when you are finished then."
"Of course!" she smiled. She flicked her tail. "I'll be leaving for now. I have preparations to do." She bowed her head and skipped away. He was puzzled what she meant about 'preparations'. Either way, he was sure it wasn't much to think about it. He was to wait for her to be finished and then together they will approach Birdstar about the culprit of Flamebelly's murder. For now, he decided to see if Silentpaw was done.

Bloomseed sat in a quiet part of the forest. Soft paw steps came from behind her. She turned to see who it was and smiled a somewhat sombre smile. "Hey Foxfang. I'm so glad you could make it."
