Russentnose headed down an alleyway that was rather dark, her hair was on end as she drew towards the center of the alley. Even though she was on high alert she jumped at the hiss that was meant for her, “Who are you?!” the stranger growled.

Russentnose turned around and arched her back slightly to make herself seem bigger, it looked like she was the same size as the stranger now. “Do you know Finn?” she asked, trying to keep the growl out of her voice.

The stranger settled then and sat back down on his shiny perch, “Course I know that tom. Let me guess, you’re one of his mollies. Come to tell him you are leaving hmm? They always do.” he scoffed.

Russentnose looked shocked, “What? No. He asked me to patrol up here while he looks after my friend…” she trailed off.

Duke rolled his eyes, he’s heard that before. He turned around a swished his tail, as if to dismiss the molly and ending to conversation.

Russent nose looked puzzled and moved closer to the shiny perch the tom was sitting on, she then lifted a paw and gave the shiny object a good wack. The noise was unexpected and it made the tom jump, “Stop that! Haven’t you seen one of these before?” The tom jumped down and shook out his pelt. He then started to walk off in the direction that Russentnose had came.

Russentnose shook her head and followed the black tom, “What is that? The thing you were sitting on.”

“A metal tree, upwalkers throw smelly stuff in them but they are emptied by other upwalkers. What’s your name?” The tom asked as he continued to walk, he scented the air as he walked, following Russentnose’s trail.

“Rusentnose. What did you mean about Finn? One of his mollies?” Russentnose followed.

Duke shrugged, “Better for you to learn on your own, it won’t be long till you notice it. Thats a clan name isn’t it? I haven’t heard one of those in a while. My name is Duke by the way.”

Russentnose then realized where the two were headed, “I don’t think we should go back yet. At least for a few days…” Duke stopped walking and turned around, his head tilted, waiting for an explanation. “Finn is helping my friend. She is a molly but she is expecting a litter any day now.”

Duke nodded and shivered, the thought of kits running around terrified him, “Alright, follow me then and I will show you where I stay, I usually don’t travel far from it.” Duke then turned around and trotted off towards his den, Russentnose following.

Goldenflower woke up with a sharp pain and she let out a wince, when she looked around the hollow for Russentnose she was shocked to see Finn was there, curled up in a nap. Something seemed to have woken him though because he opened his eyes and stared right into hers and asked, “You alright?”

Goldenflower nodded, “I think the kits are on their way.” Another pain made the molly curl up tighter. Finn nodded and got up and moved closer to the molly.

Labor here

Finn pushed on Goldenflower’s belly, “I think that might be all of them, do you feel anymore sharp pains?”

Goldenflower shook her head, “Nope, I am just exhausted.” The molly admitted.

“Well don’t fall asleep just yet, eat some of this first.” Finn pushed the pigeon towards the new mother. “Congratulations on the three fur balls, you have names in mind yet?” He asked.

Goldenflower shrugged, “I didn’t really think of any. Since you helped me I would like for you to name the first born. The little tom right here.” Goldenflower licked the tom of an orange tabby’s head as it wiggled around with its siblings.”

Finn took a second to think, “He reminds me of rust. Why don’t you name him that?”

Goldenflower nodded, “That sounds good to me. For now I don’t know what to name the others and I would like to rest before I decide.” she admitted.

Finn nodded, “Just eat some first and then I will leave you to it.” Goldenflower obeyed and ate a few bites of food before turning away from it and curling herself around the small newborn kits that slept against her. Finn left the hollow and walked around some, he returned when the sun started to set and slept in Russentnose’s nest. The small mewling from the kits made him smile slightly before he fell asleep.

Duke got up and stretched, he missed his nest, sleeping on the cold hard ground was not fun. He looked over at it and saw that Russentnose was still asleep in it. The tom then left the little hideaway he called home to go hunt for breakfast. It didn’t take him long to catch a sparrow as it ate some crumbs the upwalkers dropped. He usually would take it to an alley and eat it but he grabbed the bird and trotted back to his home.

Duke set the bird down in front of Russentnose and backed away, deciding to wait for her to wake up on her own instead of saying anything. The tom laid at the entrance and watched as the city started to bustle with life.

A few hours had passed and Russentnose finally woke up, when she opened her eyes she saw the sparrow laying in front of her and Duke was looking out of his home. She smiled at his gift and moved towards it to eat. Duke heard her move and he turned, “Rested?” he asked.

Russentnose nodded, “Thank you for the meal, I won’t be able to eat all of this if you want to share?”

Duke shrugged, “Eat what you want, I will finish what is left.” He turned back to look outside as he waited. When Russentnose finished what she could she took the rest to the tom and he started to eat.

Russentnose started to chat as he ate, “I think we should head back to Finn and Goldenflower, it has been a few day now.” On a further thought, “I.. uh.. don’t know where the park is from here.” The molly smiled with embarrassment.

Duke shrugged and stopped eating, “I know where the park is, when I finish we can head out.” Russentnose nodded as Duke resumed eating, but she didn’t let him eat in silence as she chatted about the excitement of meeting new kits. She had told him she loved kits, just not the whole kitting process. He stayed silent and focused on eating but still listened to her. When he finished he got up and led the way out and towards the park, Russentnose was next to him, still chatting away excitedly.

A new presence had joined the ranks of Eanakhclan and Genetstorm discovered that he quite disliked him. Scorpiontail he called himself, formerly Ravenstar, a leader. A silent, broody type, Genetstorm had caught Jerboastar's eyes lingering on him multiple times now. Bast was his spot - it was his right! Not a soul was as capable as he and yet Jerboastar seemed to pass him up with each passing moon. The silver bengal paced the pyramids cool floor, watching as the clan moved. Lechweleap and Nightjarflight were huddled in hushed discussion, Floodfoot was showing the newest apprentice, Miragepaw an amateur set of hunting skills and Mambaheart sat in a corner kneading a ball of sticky cobwebs. The tom spotted Jerboastar then, heading straight for Genetstorm. The bengal came to a halt and sat upright, ears pricked forward, "Sire." He greeted.

Jerboastar huffed and lightly rolled his eyes, "I'd like to make you my Bast, Genetstorm. You've proven useful and a rather valuable addition to the clan."

Genetstorm felt his paws tingle with excitement and he forced his pelt to lay still, "I'd be honored." He meowed as he bowed his head.

"Just because I want to doesn't guarentee the position. I'll speak with Sunstar tonight and you'd be wise to speak with Mambaheart about consulting Anubis." Jerboastar nodded lightly, excusing himself from the conversation and left Genetstorm's side.

Anubis. The name rang in Genetstorm's ears and made him feel hollow inside. Genetstorm was prideful in his lack of fear but Anubis was a great power that struck the tom. He swallowed his fear and headed over to where Mambaheart was still kneading his cobwebs. "Mambaheart?"

The black tom got still and slowly raised his gaze to Genetstorm. He stared for a hard second before a wily grin cracked his features, "Genetstorm?" He said, using the same questioning tone as the bengal before him.

The prideful tom furrowed his brow, "I've come to ask that you speak to Anubis on my behalf."

Mambaheart snickered and pulled his paws away from the ball of web. He pulled a small string off with his teeth and spat it out toward Genetstorm's paws, "I already have." The tom playfully extended and retracted his claws several times, watching the way they curled.

Genetstorm leaned forward slightly, eager to get to the response he so craved, "And?" He pushed, searching Mambaheart's apprentice-like gaze.

"And?" Mambageart asked back as he looked once again at Genetstorm, "That's for me to know and you to learn." He began to play with the cobwebs again when he froze. A Cheshire grin danced on his lips as he locked eyes with Genetstorm, "Maybe," he giggled like a kit, "If you go and kill a genet i'll tell you. But you have to bring me its body."

The silver bengal, though disappointed, knew better then to back down from a challenge. Especially when information this valuable lie at stake, "Okay."

A few hours later and the dusty streets of Giza greeted Genetstorm's paws. He felt like the only cat in Eanakhclan that actually enjoyed the dust, bustle and ever moving pace of the twoleg clan - outside of Floodfoot, of course, but she was forbidden from the city due to her past. Genetstorm moved into one of the main squares of the town and eyed the broken down fountain through the mass of clothed pink and brown flesh. A lot of monsters were present in the town but a few twolegs still resorted to wagon and horse which was what Genetstorm was on the search for. This square in particular, he'd learned, held secrets the rest of the town had no clue about. These secrets, he was hoping, would contain at least one silver genet - preferably still alive. He paced from one wagon to the next, searching the traps and barred off boxes. Many birds greeted him and quite a few unusual creatures he'd never heard of but no genet. He got chased off a few wagons and now sat on the sidewalk, an irritated lump. A huff escaped his nose, "this is useless." He hissed at the road.

"Its useless to chase your destiny?" Came an earthy growl.

Genetstorm spun to see a black jackal, pelt made of stars, lurking behind him, lips peeled upward in a snarl. Genetstorm's eyes betrayed his immediate fear as he settled on his haunches with a pathetic shrug and uneasy swish of his long tail, "Who's to say this is my destiny?"

Anubis' snarl grew louder and he stood and took a pace forward, "I am, you ignorant worm, and if you dont keep chasing you'll never see the power you want." The jackal came nose to nose with Genetstorm, his hot breath making the tom's whiskers quiver. They stood for several seconds, guide of the dead daring Genetstorm to move. The silver bengal was paralyzed, not by fear, but by the sheer power that this jackal possessed. Anubis finally snorted in a sort of mocking way before pressing his nose firmly against the cat's. Genetstorm's mind was suddenly alive with hazy pictures. It started right where they stood and wove between carts and twolegs, over barrels and around bird-cages until a tiny cart stood before him. Coated in black the cart looked broken down and as if it was about to collapse under it's own weight. The vision peered under the black blanket and Genetstorm saw the beady eyes of the silver genet, trapped in a box that the vision showed how to easily open. A gasp came from Genetstorm as Anubis pulled his nose away. The jackal glared down at the tom, "Go now before I take you with me instead."

Anubis dissipated before the tom's eyes and within a heartbeat Genetstorm had spun around and was sprinting through the alleys. Twolegs hollered at him and his tail nearly got caught underfoot several times as it streamed behind him. Familiar shapes whizzed past him until finally the black cart came into sight. It was just as the hazy vision showed him only it seemed less capable of holding itself upright. Genetstorm tenderly set paws on the thing, heart pounding in his ears, and peered under the black cover. Sure enough, the beady gaze of the genet stared back at him. A hiss came from the creature followed quickly by a very dog-like growl as it swiped at Genetstorm only to be blocked by the mesh trap, "oh shut up, I'm only here to kill you." The tom growled as he slipped a paw over the latch as the vision had shown him. As soon as the genet saw the slightest opening it charged forward, barreling into Genetstorm.

The duo fell from the cart in a writhing mess of claws, teeth, and tufts of silver fur. They looked so similar it was hard to keep up with where one ended and the other began as they tumbled and crashed into several objects. The two suddenly broke apart, panting in exhaustion. Genetstorm had several deep wounds, from both teeth and claw while the genet seemed far better off with only a few scratches. The tomcat issued a low growl and bolted forward, aiming his claws at the things eyes only to watch the genet dodge sideways with ease. Pain jolted up Genetstorm's spine and a sound like a snapping twig resonated in his ears. The cat stumbled, vision white and fuzzy from a mixture of shock and pain. The genet didnt hesitate to leap on his shoulder and dig its teeth into the flesh.

The weight suddenly lifted from Genetstorm and he heard sounds of a scuffle nearby. His vision cleared and he saw a black shape wrestling with the silver genet and soon enough the tom's teeth sank into the genet's throat and it gradually grew still. Scorpiontail's emerald gaze met his own, genet still hanging from his jaws. Genetstorm averted his gaze to look at the damage sustained to his tail and nearly wept at the sight - tail? What tail? All that was left was a bloodied stump and as Genetstorm searched nearby he saw his own tail laying across the alley. Nausea washed over him and he hissed, struggling to pull himself to his paws. Scorpiontail rushed over without a word and offered Genetstorm a shoulder to lean on. Genetstorm, always the stubborn type, hesitated but ultimately gave in.

The silver bengal turned and retrieved the genet corpse, leaning heavily on Scorpiontail and limping. He paused with his head lowered and without looking at Scorpiontail he uttered a whispered, "Thanks." Then lifted the shockingly heavy genet body. Scorpiontail didnt issue a single sound in response.

The two padded into the pyramid as the sun sank in the horizon, side by side. Genetstorm had stopped leaning on Scorpiontail as they drew close to their home, afraid another would see it as weakness. Scorpiontail offered a gentle nod in farewell before he trotted off toward the fresh-kill pile. Genetstorm watched, curious now about this newcomer. Why had he followed him to the city? Better yet, if he wanted the Bast position, why had he saved his life? Genetstorm had only a gentle sigh to answer his questions alongside a desire to get to know this tom better. That would have to wait until later, however, now he needed to find Mambaheart. Genetstorm hauled the silver cat like creature to the entry of Mambaheart's "den" and tossed it inside. Within mere seconds a loud chuckling echoed from inside and soon enough the black tom came forward, a chuckle still shaking his ribs.

He finally composed himself enough to calm his hysterics, "well then, let me see your tail - I mean, stump." Mambaheart lost it at the last word and was laughing to hard to speak.

Genetstorm could hardly believe what he was hearing. He flexed his claws and as his painful stump of a tail lashed back and forth his ears laid against his skull, "you knew!?" He hissed.

Mambaheart laughed a few more times before his face went void of emotion and he looked the Set in the eye, "Of course I knew. Anubis wanted to know how eager you truly were and if you were worth putting effort into."

The silver bengal felt a fury like he'd never known and suddenly launched himself at Mambaheart. The black tom sidestepped with ease - a fluid motion as if he'd expected the launch. Genetstorm's fur was spiked as he spun to face Mambaheart, "You nasty little roach. I'll send you to Anubis myself." He spat.

"Genetstorm!" A new voice hit his ears. An unfamiliar one. Scorpiontail dashed in front of Mambaheart before Genetstorm could try and attack the medic again, "you dont want to do this."

"Oh shut up! You don't even know me!" Genetstorm growled, pain in his haunches growing with each second, "Get out of my way."

Scorpiontail seemed disappointed as he slid his claws out and gently sighed, "No."

Searching the other tom's gaze, Genetstorm felt the rage melting off his shoulders, giving way to the searing pain of his lost tail. His fur slowly laid flat and he lifted his ears, "Fine." He spun and stalked away, down into the deepest part of the pyramid.

Scorpiontail relaxed and turned to face Mambaheart who looked like an excited kit watching Petbe's training. Scorpiontail said nothing and left the Anubis alone as he approached the fresh-kill pile. He could only hope that Genetstorm would be alright.

It's newleaf, and the snow is finally melting! Prey will be more plentiful, kittings will run smoother, and you'll have a higher chance of finding cats on patrol. However, the chance of flooding - especially in low territories or territories near water - is significantly higher.

Blazeclaw didn't want the clan to worry than it is. He sniffed around more to make sure nothing was there all ready, but he only picked up the blood around it. His tail and tairs flicked in the air hearing if anything as in there too, but nothing. He could feel his own heart in his chest hitting hard, as he walked into the sett. His eyes narrowed into the dark, making sure nothing comes out at him.

Nightcry called over to wavepaw and beepaw as he sat down onto a small rock. "I'm here!" beepaw cried out huffing a little as wavepaw slowly walked over. "Both ready?" nightcry said as he jumped down from the rock and turned to them both, with that beepaw nodded as wavepaw looked at him and nodded slowly. Nightcry could see something wrong with wavepaw, but he didn't ask. "Can we go someone else?" Wavepaw said in a small voice as nightcry peeked up his head, "What do you mean by that?" wavepaw asked as he started to walk away from them. Quickly both of them catched up with him, "I mean that can we go somewhere else to train." he stopped for a second as he looked to him, "than normal?" he asked once more. Nightcry thought for a second as he turned his head to look at him "We can." he said with a small smile onto his face.

Once they passed the training grounds they come more deeper into the woods, but something hit their noses badly. It was a strong smell of blood, just like blazeclaw smelt. "stay back." Nightcry said to them both, as he went more closer to find the badger sett.

Leaf-Bare
For some, the first snows have arrived. For others, it is simply a chill in the air. Regardless, all clans will experience leafbare as a harsh and unforgiving season. Queens and kits are more likely to die during birth, prey will flee from patrols, and loners are less likely to stray from their warm city homes. In addition, predators and sicknesses abound, waiting for the chance to pick off the weak. All in all, it is best for a clan to be at full strength during this time.
