Season
L E A F - B A R E
The Season of Winter. During leafbare, the chances of catching greencough is higher. If you send the same cat out multiple times in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold, which is lead to whitecough and greencough so be careful. After your cat catches a cold, don't send them out for 2 posts or their cold will progress to whitecough or greencough. The sun will start to go down early and it will get colder once the sun starts to go down. You will also catch less prey and are less likely to find new cats.

Goldenstar's ragged breathing eased as her kitting came to an end. Scorchspring stepped back to examine the kits. One was a tortoiseshell she-kit and the other was a ginger tom. But one wasn't squirming at all. Nuzzling it's fur, Scorchspring stepped back, not wanting to give the horrible news to Goldenstar. "
You'll be fine." he mewed, dipping his head. "
As will one of your kits. But the other - didn't make it.'' Goldenstar let out a horrible wail only a mother could. She nuzzled the dead kit, trying to wake it - but no, it didn't work. Scorchspring dipped his head, leaving the pretty she-cat to her grief. "
May Asgard watch over him." The ginger tom turned, head drooping, and headed back to his den. Was he a good Priest if he had let a kit die almost as soon as he had come to MonarchClan?
[Goldenstar gives birth to two kits (she-cat and tom respectively). However, one dies shortly after birth - you may choose which.]Sootnose leaped into the air, batting a thrush out of the sky. As it thumped to the ground, Hawkstar snapped it's spine quick as a fish, and the two had prey to bring home to Goldenstar. Sootnose purred in satisfaction and glanced at Hawkstar. "
Should we continue on?" Hawkstar nodded. "
Let's hunt in the direction of camp, though." Hawkstar made it sound like a comment but Sootnose knew it was an order and followed him, the bird in mouth. She was really starting to get the swing of clan life. Hawkstar suddenly dropped low to the ground and lunged into a bush, coming out with a water vole. "
I wonder why it wasn't closer to water." Sootnose mumbled around the thrush she carried. Hawkstar snorted, dropping the vole. "
The snow must be water enough." Sootnose let out a little laugh as Hawkstar picked his vole back up again and headed towards home.
[Sootnose and Hawkstar catch x1 small bird and x1 water vole]Scorchspring had headed out to collect herbs after Goldenstar's kitting to take his mind off things. It had been working - for about 10 heartbeats. His thoughts now circled in the same pattern:
I'm a terrible Priest! - No, you couldn't have helped it. - But I could have, so I'm a terrible Priest! Scorchspring's thoughts cut off as he leaned in towards a plant. He sniffed it, eyes widening. Tansy! This would be useful if some cat caught a mild cough. Carefully nipping off two of the un-frosted stems, Schorchspring turned tail and set home with a spring in his step.
[Scorchspring collects x2 Tansy]Acornpatch followed Hawkstar, the leader of their border patrol, slowly. He made sure to mark every big border marker and keep his eyes and nose peeled for any threats or new cats. He flicked an ear back to ward off a bug when he heard it - the quiet crunch of snow behind him. Acornpatch whirled around to see a black and white cat slinking after them. "
Why hello." The stranger mewed. Hawkstar was up to the cat in an instant, fur bristling. Acornpatch had no idea how he had doubled back on the patrol so fast. "
Who are you?" he hissed to the stranger. The cat kept their cool composure. "
Why a friend looking for a Clan! I was told by a humungous cat named....Draegal? that I could find one here - MonarchClan I think he said." Hawkstar immediately relaxed at the sound of the God's name. "
I am Hawkstar, King of MonarchClan. Why don't you follow me, stranger?" Acornpatch blinked as the two pulled ahead. Well, that was the patrol done, he guessed.
