“listen.. i know it’s hard. we had one of our youngest warriors die from an unmentioned greencough just weeks ago. but we can’t just take you in so quickly.” ferretfur sighed, not wanting to leave the loner out in the cold. nonetheless, the grey tabby looked moons older than him. the deputy considered this cat being a case like blackpatch and falconwatcher, old loners who needed a warm place to pass onto starclan in.

though, this charming loner proved ferretfur wrong. “i can do all i can to help your clan. i’m a prolific hunter, i can tell you that!” he chuckled warmly, which caused the patrol to lower their defenses. “just until spring rolls around.”

. The clans start growing their winter coats. Colder weather is coming their way, but it's already cold. Loners don't come around often anymore, and food is also more scarce. "But I'm sure! Jus-" Badger stopped yowling as he realised he might be forced to stay an apprentice longer, and that a tom was standing right in front of them. Although the fur along his spine was quivering, the tom was standing tall.
"I am Joaquin. I would like to join your clan." Joaquin told them, his green eyes filled with determination as he confronted them.

"Who's that?" Solarspark asked, jumping up and down.
"Huh? Oh, it's Lyrastar! We saw a cat!" Thunderbird burst out.
"Who are you?" Whitefoot asked quietly, eating a pigeon with Blacknose before shyly stepping forward.
"I am Joaquin." the stranger said, dipping his head to the clan as they gathered. Joaquin seemed nervous now, but he held his head high.
"Cats of CosmoClan," Lyrastar began. "This rouge has joined us, and told us his name is Joaquin. We have yet to know more about the rouges. I need to discuss with the two Guardians." the patrol began to enter the clearing, talking with their clanmates.

weather: leaf-fall has fallen upon the clans quickly, bringing with it a crisp chill and falling leaves. snow will come soon, bringing with it both the joy of winter and the dread at the complications that it brings. kittings will become harder, cats will be scarcer, prey will become hard to find. other predators will be looking to find any prey that the can, and foxes and badgers are a threat to the cats' safety. any cats that can be found will be more than willing to join the clan, though - anything to escape the chilly wind.

as settingstar pads from the cave that shrouds the importance of the glowing moonstone that lurks within, a feline stands upon a flat boulder, drawing their paw over an ear. they eye settingstar wearily, and stand to stretch, their joints popping as if they'd been lounging in that spot for a while, having just now moved. "i thought you might have gotten lost in there," the patched cat cooed, their voice a low purr. "you're settingstar, yeah? i'm not talking to the wrong leader?" they chuffed out a laugh, ears twitching at settingstar's nod. "i suppose that means you're my deputy," settingstar answered, tail-tip flicking. "welcome to lakeclan."

➤ firetail and pigeonbelly come across a pair of frightened apprentices while on their patrol! they claim to be former kittypets, having escaped from the same house, though they seem to have been running from something... does the patrol investigate, or leave it alone? if they leave it, there is a chance that a predator may attack the cats in the future.

"it was big and it was fast and, and, and -" the small calico female's words were cut off by her anxious pants, her breath heavy and coming quick. her companion, the tabby cat, nodded solemnly, their fur still raised with fear. pigeonbelly's whiskers twitched; she could recall when she had been an apprentice, scared by almost everything under the sun. "it's alright," she reassured them, as firetail peered around to make sure that there was no imminent danger. "lakeclan will protect you now."

the small feline was shaking, nestled in a bed of orange leaves that were stirred by the breeze. "what do you want?" they asked warily, fur rising along their spine, fear-scent rolling off of their fur in waves. confronted by two much larger cats, the apprentice-aged cat was terrified. would they attack? birchstar erupted in a small purr, a grin lifting his muzzle. "don't get your tail in a twist," he chuffed. "we're not going to hurt you." now that that was established, the feline seemed to relax. "are you in one of those things? the, uh, clans?" birchstar dipped his head in a slow nod, his ears angled towards her. "why," he asked, grinning lightly. "do you want to join?"

“no, you don’t understand.” brandy growled at the cats around her. “i have another kit out there. she’s with his father, thank god, but she isn’t weaned off of her milk yet!”

a common occurrence within the camp; a new cat among their ranks. ferretfur weaseled his way between cats towards the nursery. there, the mix-bred molly defensively rose her hackles as the other queens questioned the second kit’s whereabouts.

tigerspring was readjusting her nest when this all came up. now, the old queen was attempting to calm brandy down. “i’m sure they can send a patrol for them. brandy, is it? what’s the name of your second kit? and your mate?” she questioned softly, rare for the tabby she-cat.

brandy seemed to be overwhelmed by all the cats around her. she looked to tigerspring, motioning towards the entrance of the camp. “i can tell you where they are if you’d just let me out of camp for five minutes! you’re all stressing out ivykit, even though she can be without my milk for that long.” suddenly, the she-cat started trotting out towards the entrance. as tigerspring followed, as did a handful of warriors, brandy sprinted away in a blind panic.

pineclaw looked to his sister, hornetfang, with a sigh. they had just got her calm, too. now, it was time to hunt down her scent; and her family’s, too.

“no, you’ll drop your suffix once you replace me.”

“really? shellpaw said we should having matching suffixes. sheeprun and shellskip.”

the shaman circled his apprentice, ears pinned. “shellpaw shouldn’t be one to influence your opinions. starclan will lead your way, not some tom you’ve fallen for.” olive remarked, a growl bubbling from his lips. swanpaw nervously looked away, nodding so that olive wouldn’t become suspicious from his lack of a response.

seemingly pleased, olive continued. “now, has starclan visited you yet?” the shaman’s apprentice had never seen the starry cats in his dreams; olive proclaimed that if starclan wouldn’t visit swanpaw, he wouldn’t be fit to be a shaman’s apprentice. though, no cat would listen to him. it was frustrating for sure, but he couldn’t just challenge his superiors like that.

swanpaw nervously shook his head, meeting his mentor’s gaze. a growl rose from the older cat as he stalked a few paces away. “you’ll come to the moonpool with me next moon, swanpaw. there, we’ll see if you’re truly fit for the role that sootstar put on us both.”

A moon had passed and Lionfang was still unsure how he would get Kuru to join the clan with out the other tom's sister finding it out. The large orange tom sat in his usual spot, his head in the clouds. He was so lost in thought he didn't hear Cherryshine speak.

Cherryshine and her patrol last moon had escaped from a fox, but now the clan had to figure a way to drive it off the territory. Noticing Lionfang unusually lost in thought that day the dark orange tabby padded over and meowed "Hello." upon no signs of hearing her the older she-cat gently swatted at the large tom. The sudden touch caused the tom to snap back to reality, his eyes landing on Cherryshine. "Oh good to see your back with us." she purred, a smile on her face.

"Sorry Cherryshine.... I'v been trying to think of way to smuggle that rogue Kuru into our clan with out his sister finding out. Although a rogue he seems very willing to join. I have already talked to Hazestar about it and he's accepting of this." Lionfang explained. He wasn't much of a talker, but he had grown close to Cherryshine and her kits over the moons.

Listening to the tom speak, the she-cat quickly perked up. "Remember that fox we came across last moon? Well since the patrol was so small we didn't risk it and got away. It's still hanging around. Maybe you fake his death with the fox and drive the fox towards the rogues. It'll get the fox off our territory and cause the rogues to move away. They would have no choice but to accept the fact that they lost Kuru to the fox." Cherryshine babbled. Her eyes glittered with excitement, happy to have helped out her best friend.

Swivelspear had been going mad with the riddle, determined to gain new members for HazeClan. How could she let a loner crawl under her skin like the one did. However she had been thinking it over for some time and decided she would start with the streams. Something about the abandoned house just seem to obvious. Knowing a few of of the younger cats might be up for cat hunting Swivelspear quickly got a party around before heading.

Along side her padded Windsong, a she-cat just a few moons older then her. Windsong was there when the loner confronted Swivelspear and had grown curious as well. "So why are you so dead set on this Swivelspear? Out of most of us here your very hot headed and normally don't hesitate to lash out." she teased. In return Swivelspear shot the other she-cat a glare before letting out a small chuckle.

"You know something about that other tom, the shyer one of the two just made me want to find him. He didn't seem to be to keen on the other tom being so friendly." Swivelspear explained.

[ timberkit and slatekit bounce excitedly, as hazeclan and the dark forest chant their new names: timberpaw and slatepaw! ]
the kits bounced up and down in excitement, they were just play fighting with smokepetal- training for their new lives as apprentices. "I can't wait to beat up some forestclan cats!" slatekit squealed, getting on top of timberkit, pretending to claw his cheek. timberkit knew exactly what to do though- raising his hindquarters to kick the other kit in the stomach, it was more or less great, taking a few tries to get slatekit off him. the grey kit bounced back before his twin could kick his stomach "you mouse-brain! forestclan is our ally!" timberkit spat, he ran towards slatekit and pounced on him. the two rolled around the frost-glazed grass, groans and laughs filled part of the camp. the two grey kits didn't realize that hazestar had propped himself on the high-rock, eyeing the two kits play-fight with a soft smile on his face. "let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around the high-rock." the leaders prideful voice rang through the clan camp. senior warriors padded to the high-rock, a clear smile on their faces, younger warriors eagerly paced to the high-rock, curious about what hazestar was gonna announce. cats who were already gathered made small-talk, waiting for the rest to gather around. timberkit and slatekit's younger den mates hustled around the entrance of the nursery, some of the queens trying to pull them back so they didn't escape. "do you think its our apprentice ceremony?" slatekit piped, stars in his eyes though, timberkit had his eye on some apprentices. batpaw, jaypaw, marshpaw, and ravenpaw playful nudged each other back in forth, chuckling and teasing each other like no one was watching. acornpaw and emberpaw stood close to each other, timberpaw couldn't exactly hear what they were saying but they mentioned something about their last training session together, laughing at each other's mistakes and something about lionfang's face but timberkit couldn't hear well enough from where he stood. he was brought back down to earth by his brother, literally. the brother pushed timberkit down to the cold earth. the once distracted gray kit shook his fur, getting rid of the droplets of water from the frost, the tom was furious with his littermate. he cursed at slatekit, who laughed at his reaction "oooh! timberkit cursed! im telling!" timberkit rolled his eyes, its not easy picking up some habits when the apprentices and queens slip up with their words sometimes. slatekit's brother was about to argue back but slatekit shushed him by swatting him on the face "hey, why'd you-"

"shush! hazestar's gonna start!" slatekit mewed, not glancing back at his brother who huffed in annoyance. though he couldn't stay mad at him, his littermate had been waiting for this moment, the day the two would become apprentices. timberkit could care less, but he'd be lying if he was eager for this moment like slatekit. this was no doubt, this was a naming ceremony. a naming for two apprentices, named timberkit- no, paw and his brother slatepaw. the crisp leaf-fall leaves were scattered around the camp grounds, a satisfied crunch every time someone took a step. once hazestar could hear no more of those satisfying crunches, he spoke: "we are gathered here for a few reasons. we'll start off with making some kits into apprentices, slatekit and timberkit, get up here." timberkits paws dragged, forcing himself to step up. "timberkit, slatekit. you've both reached the age of 6 moons, its time that you both should be apprenticed. from this day and forward you'll both be known as timberpaw and slatepaw. Morningflower, you'll be the mentor of slatepaw. Shadowripple you'll be the mentor of timberpaw. I hope that both parties gain knowledge and learn, because you'll be stuck like this for quite a while." hazestar smiled, the clan chanted, cheering for timberpaw and slatepaw on their new names. shadowripple and morningflower were congratulated for their new apprentices. timberpaw glanced at his littermate, not surprised that he was crying. "t-timberkit! we're finally apprentices! oh my starclan.." slatepaws vision blurred by the tears of joy, "were apprentices! were apprentices! timberkit- i mean timberpaw, timber!" he cried, pushing his face into his brothers chest. "you're such a cry-baby.." timberpaw muttered, hearing his brothers sniffles. the brother patted the other on the back, calming him down. he saw several paws infront of them, lifting up his head to see some of the apprentices and the brother's mentors. they all had a smile on their faces. "lets work hard." morningflower mewed, a small smile on her face, slatekit- paw was still crying on his chest, timberpaw nodded for both of them. he found himself smiling, this will be fun.

[ lionfang's patrols ride was tense; finding a fox and leading to the rouge group was more horrifying than it sounds ]
i was gonna write here but i decided to write this next reply because i want to get this out today, so ill give the summary of what i wanted to write (you can always write this if you want to): lionfang and his patrol mates locate the fox eating a carcass. they decided to push hayfur into the fox, making him run for his life down to where the rouges camp is. kuru- already knowing the plan- lights up when seeing the charging beast and darts off but feels massive guilt when he leaves his sister who happens to be kala (the rouge i wrote about in post 1) but disappears from the scene anyways but its too late to back down. kala gathers her siblings around, telling them to run while she joins the other rouges to attack the fox, she can't find kuru though, making her have a massive panic attack. priss (rouge from the 1st post) tells kala to leave him, reassuring her that he'll find his way back to them. in the end the rouges are in little numbers to be fighting a fox, and flee. the patrol celebrates, but they can't find anything about kurus whereabouts, they aren't for sure that the rouge camp left once and for all or where kuru is. they come back, their plan comes out successful. recruiting darkflower, ashflame and dawnshine who decided to put their entrust in them that they'll be safe from the rouge, but they do not see kuru- their main goal- anywhere. they dont hear from kuru

Swivelspear was occupied, feeling through some tall grass and reeds next to the fresh water streams. Windsong rose his muzzle to the sky, taking note of the crisp evening wind, shivering a little. the water was fresh and cold, waves crashing over the smooth rocks in its path. The she-cat held her breath, no scent or trace that any cat was here with them. usually, that would be reassuring news. but, when you're on a quest to find a stranger you've never seen or met before and given only 4 locations; having a 1/4 chance you're right. not to mention that all of this made up by some random cat that boiled Swivelspear's blood and that the hot-tempered she-cat had too much pride to turn down the challenge but this could be a wild goose chase from the get-go? Windsong couldn't wrap her brain around all the situation as she mentally rambled to herself, her eyes fixed upon her paws. the tabby recalled the patrols plan: they would split into partners, try to find the loner named shuu, and come back at sun high. so far, this was a waste of time, there was no marking that he was here but she didn't voice her thoughts. Swivelspear would insist that that shuu cat was here somewhere, she was stubborn and determined. a polar opposite of windsong, shes a reflection of herself, a character she could've been if she tried. she didn't like trying, she would always give up because her logic told her too. no matter how hard she tried, she'll be the same is what she told herself. Windsong narrowed her eyes, kicking all the small rocks that stood close to her paws, her mood just got worse. "are you gonna stand there and stare at your paws?" some cat mewed, Windsong tuned the she-cat out, a nod is all she responded with, "dont tune me out, you're better than this." the younger cat sighed, rubbing the back of her neck, a habit she picked up from Windsong herself. the black and white she-cat was the quirkiest she-cat of hazeclan, she'd pick up on others habits and do them without realizing it, that was her quirk. "i don't see why we must stay here, there is no sign that the loner is here." windsong muttered, head down low and ignoring her partners comment. "we'll keep searching, there is no harm in that. going back and waiting for the others before sun-high would be a waste of our time anyways." the younger she-cat mewed, the aloof she-cat shrugged it didn't matter at this point. the two cats kept poking around, but found nothing after sunhigh.

a certain toms lips curved up, watching the patrol walk away from the streams. his claws clung onto a stable branch, his eyes were sharp as a hawk's. he lowly whistled, watching the patrol disappear in the vegetation. "they always say: there's no use flogging a dead horse." the loner mewed, jumping down from the tree. tsk tsk, wrong location! try again or give up?

"I don't like goosekit!" Snapped poppysong. She huddled around her new born kit, trying to find a way to curl him closer to her and make sure aloeleap couldn't touch him.

"Real mature," Said Aloeleap as he watched his mate, the love of his life, pout over a name. "How about-"

She cut him off with a twitch of her tail, "Pine, Cone, Bear, Coyote, Chirp, Chipmunk are all terrible names and you've already run them by me."

Orchidkit piped up from across the cave, "I like Chirpkit! Sounds like a fun guy to play with!"

Poppysong laughed, "Yes, that would be a fun playmate!"

Orchidkit laughed, "Yeah, Although, i think i like the name mallardkit the most. maybe aukkit for a sibling and kingletkit too. I like birds the most, thats what i eat every day too!"

Poppysongs eyes bulged, "I-I love those names, especially Mallardkit. Do you think you would let me name him that?" Aloeleap was nodding along with her, adding in, "Actually, we'll let you name him that, so then the tradition continues of naming the firstborn. Are you ok with that?"

Orchidkit thought for a second, and nodded happily, she was always willing to give away anything for her clanmates, "Anything for my friends!"
