Rexx stood above the kennel, knowing that Atlantis planned to leave as soon as her pups were Taus. "I hereby announce that, if she accepts the honor, Atlantis will be promoted to Gamma, and will supervise all of the upcoming pups and give them their propor mentor!"

The kennel roared with approval, "Atlantis," The crowd shushed, "Do you accept?"

Rexx could see the tears in her eyes as she addressed him, "I'm glad you offered! I am! I'd love to be gamma!" After the meeting was over, Atlantis approached Rexx, "You didn't have to do this."

"Oh I did," He said, "The best dog for the gamma position is one who cares about those she supervises."

Last Moon..

"Just look at him, Reno!" Anika squealed, tail whipping through the air as she conversed with her doberman friend. Reno meerly rolled her eyes, gaze only momentarily flicking over the brute that the husky was ogling.
"Anika, you are supposed to be looking out for any prey." The red doberman whispered between her sharp fangs.
Anika rolled her azure blue eyes, "I am staring at my prey! Give me a moment and trust me, I'll have him trapped between my paws." She replied, attempting to stalk towards the burly brute—Diablo.
"Yeah, sure." Reno replied, her tone sarcastic yet exuding a playful side to it. Most of the ladies in the pack were rough, tough just like Reno. But Anika, she was unique. Always dancing around with the boys, blubbering on and being the radiant beam that shone out between the broken shards that the pack was.

"Deer herd!" A voice called out from around them, earning Reno to turn around.

The wolf-like appearance of Reno's comrad, Rain, darted through the brush as she sounded the alarm, careful to be loud enough for the hunting group to hear but not the deer themselves. She moved efficiently, gathering up all of the group quickly from where they wandered about in the tall grass fields.

Suddenly, the towering mass of ebony and copper fur strode into view. The leader of the pack, Diablo. "If we don't catch this then all your pelts will be skinned." He warned. "We're nearing the days of winter time, and this might be the last big catch we find."

Anika trotted up beside the brute, tail whipping through the air as she listened to her leader. "I agree, Diablo!" She barked with delight, staring at him with affection. It was blantantly clear that the brown husky held a specific interest on the male, a crush, as some would call it.

Diablo didn't seem to enjoy the commentary, for he let out a low snarl. His lips curled back, revealing blood-stained fangs to be stared at with fear and shock. Anika let out a muted yelp as he snapped at her ear, ducking just enough to dodge his bite. "You call me Sovereign."

Anika nodded her head meekly, slinking down to the grass and sliding to cower behind Reno. The ruby doberman didn't bother to show sympathy, understanding and respecting the decision that her leader made. Even just saying the wrong name was a show of unorder and disloyalty to Diablo. And if she disrespected Diablo, she disrespected the pack.

Instead, Reno gave her a curt nudge and started to move forwards. "Come on, the deer might be gone if you continue to whine."

Diablo beckoned Rain forwards. The misty-grey fae crouched down in a respectful submission as she listened to him give orders to lead the group forwards. She nodded, then giving a quick nod to the rest of the group. "Follow me, and listen to Sovereign's orders on the plan of hunting attack."

The group nodded quickly, and followed in silence as Rain led them through the tall grass. Diablo hissed instructions to the group as they neared the herd of deer, deciding on a stag that seemed to be far away from the rest of the group. First, Faust and Victurri had fanned out and disappeared into the grass, almost as if being consumed by the wheat-like tendrils of grass.

It had been decided that Faust and Victurri would herd the deer in the direction of Anika and Rain, who had also scampered away into the brush—leaving just Diablo and Reno. Rain and Anika would charge at the deer and strike down, and while Faust and Victurri caught up Diablo and Reno would make sure it couldn't run away by circling it and striking out at it.

All Reno was waiting for was the bark of Anika to alert them to go. And when it came, she was ready. Her muscles tensed beneath her coppery pelt, Reno surged through the brush as the thundering beat of hooves filled her ears. She swiftly glanced at her sovereign for a fleeting moment, seeing determination swimming in his chocolate orbs as the giant hooved creature entered their vision.

Reno ran circles around the deer, snapping and snarling as Diablo did the same on her other side. Meanwhile, Rain was ruthlessly snapping at the deer's flank, trying to pin it to the ground as Anika did the same on the other side of the beast. Everything moved around Reno with a tremendous speed, the barking and snarling that devoured her becoming mute as she centered her attention on the task at hand. She could hear her heartbeat pulsing through her as she banked a hard right as the deer tried to flee, soon being aided by the brother and sister duo Faust & Victurri as they raced towards the commotion.

The stag reared, lifting his forelimbs off of the ground and striking them into the sky, slicing through the air like a dangerous blade. It let out a frantic call as the dogs closed in, and then slammed it's hooves down into the ground.

Into Rain.

Her yelp split through the air but was muted by the deer's. Both uttered their final calls as they collapsed, the deer tumbling to the ground while Rain skittered away. Her pain was undeniable, it ran through her in tremors as she shuddered and coughed. The hunting group surrounded her as she let out ragged breaths.

"Rain!" Victurri cried, crouching down to nudge her dying friend. She made a weak attempt to lift her up. "Rain.. Rain you need to get up!"

Rain stared at her with glassy eyes, soon sliding her gaze over the rest of them. "I am surrounded by my pack, my family.. This is the way I wish to spend my final breaths." She whispered softly.

Anika and Victurri were crying. Faust was watching with horror and sadness, his own tears barely just being contained. Reno sidled up next to the dying shepherd, dipping her head with honour. "You will always be remembered, Rain.. Your skills and hard work will not be forgotten."

Diablo sat, the single dog from the group to not surround the fae in her final breaths. His expression remained emotionless, though when he spoke it was undoubtedly meaningful. "You will be remembered, Rain."

Rain smiled softly before lowering her head, resting it upon the grass as she exhaled softly, quickly slipping away to the lunar brigade. Undoubtedly, the ancestors would be welcoming the blue bay shepherd as she entered their realm.

Now..

"I am way better at fighting than you." Nyx cried indignantly, shoving her muzzle into the air as fought with her sister. "Come on, even my mentor is better than yours."

Asteria looked at her sister with wide eyes, shaking her head with disbelief. "That is not true at all," She replied quickly. "Zariana is a great mentor!"

Her dark-furred sister shook her head at the comment before turning around quickly. "Well, if she is so great why isn't she taking you out for more training.. hmm?" She asked sharply, "Our big test is coming up next moon and your mentor doesn't even care! It's gonna be funny seeing you a trainee while I'm a combatant."

Asteria opened her maw to respond, though her sister had already strode away, bearing a smug smirk as she waltzed towards her doberman mentor. Asteria watched them as they slid out of view before lowering her head with a sigh.

"What's got you down, Missy?" A deep voice asked, earning Asteria to whirl around with surprise.

Hellion. The large kangal looked at the trainee, who was already starting to become taller than some of the combatants. Although the taller of her twin, she was rather lanky and gangly in comparison to her well-muscled sister. The pack seemed to welcome Nyx in well, with her fierce spirit and daring flare. Asteria, not so much. Although favoured for her size—tall size aided the pack with useful intimidation tactic— the Irish wolfhound was not as superior in the fiery attitude department, nor fighting.

"Oh.. It's nothing, Hellion." She replied after a moment.

The kangal shrugged, turning his grayed muzzle to point in the direction of the sovereign's lair utop the waterfall. After a few minutes of silence, Hellion spoke. "I thought Rain was a sweet kid."

At mention of the deceased pack member Asteria sighed. She had seen the female around but had rarely ever chatted with her, and she was upset that now those tiny memories of her would be the only ones she'd ever have. "I didn't really know her.. but I think so too."

Hellion adjusted his cranium to look at Asteria, his eyes somber. "You're a good kid too," He said gently, giving the younger canine at supportive nudge. "You'll become a great combatant."

Asteria nodded though didn't reply, her thoughts filling her head. She just hoped Hellion was right.

Goldrush Mountain

A bird erupted from the bushes to the left of Diego, but he didn't flinch. He continued on steadily, trudging up the incline of the mountain. He had been travelling for days now and his stomach growled. He had received a cryptic dream from a glowing golden retriever and was on his way to meet the dogs she spoke of. They needed someone with his capabilities if they were going to brave the coming winter months. He scanned the underbrush for any useful herbs as he went, hoping not to show up empty pawed. The sun was rising now, as he had set out again before dawn, and he took a deep breath of the autumn scented air. Soon, his strong nose began to pick up the scents of other dogs. He stopped, peering through the bushes. Soon he caught sight of a young female and her older companion. A rabbit dangled from the adult's mouth and Diego's mouth watered. He took a step forward and they spun toward him as his paw brushed a dry leaf.

"Who's that?" the young dog barked out.

Diego set his herbs on the ground and spoke up calmly. "Don't be startled, friends. I have come here to join Goldrush. I bring knowledge of medicines that may help you in the freezing weather."

Their demeanors immediately relaxed and turned to curiosity. The older female set the rabbit down and they both padded toward him. Diego's tail began to wag. At last he had reached them! He shot a toothy grin at them and introduced himself, in turn learning their names were Aberdeen and Arya. Their alpha, Winston, awaited them at their camp, as he was just finishing up digging out their dens for winter. They chatted for a while, and then turned and led Diego back to the camp to meet Winston, his stomach growling and his eyes fixed on the rabbit in Aberdeen's jaws the whole way.

Winston's eyes lit up immediately as soon as he spotted Diego with the girls. Finally, a new face! He greeted the newcomer enthusiastically and learned of his abilities. This was the Shaman that the ancient dog had told him would arrive. They shared the rabbit together, Diego very grateful at the hospitality he was given. He showed him his den and allowed him to become accustomed to it, telling him he would need to gather up some items of his choosing to build himself a bed. Turning back to Arya and Aberdeen he suggested they return to hunting, and when they were finished he would instruct Arya in a training session. She was growing steadily and would be a great benefit to the pack. They hunted for a few more hours, and then Aberdeen returned to camp with their catch while Winston and Arya trotted out to the field beside the waterfall. He watched his bright-eyed tenderpaw as she sat before him, tail wagging slightly. This would be her first real instruction toward becoming an irontooth for Goldrush.

"Alright, kiddo," he smiled. "I know you've been helping out Aberdeen and I a great deal with the hunting, but I think its time we start to refine your skills. Why don't you pretend this twig here is a mouse. Demonstrate how you would approach capturing this prey."

Arya nodded and began to creep up on the targeted twig, her rear-end sticking up into the sky. Her plumed tan tail swayed about like a flag pole. Winston held back a snicker. As she neared the twig, he suddenly swatted it away. She looked at him, befuddled.

"That tail of yours is going to give you away miles before you get to that mouse!" he laughed. "Keep your hindquarters low and your tail straight out behind you."

Arya repositioned herself and did as she was told. This time Winston allowed her to get to the twig, but continued instructing her on other things she could improve on. She showed a lot of promise and he was overjoyed at the progress his pack was making.

Season: Winter

The storm has finally passed. The dogs breathe a sigh of relief as the sun makes it's appearance again. The temperature has dropped drastically in the last few months and every morning there is a fresh coat of ice on the snow left over from the storm. Stray dogs will be more common as they come out from their shelters.

The patrol was making their way down one of the rivers in the territory. The snow crushed against their paws and every breath was visible. Down the river, splashing could be heard. Curious, the dogs investigated and found two dogs hunting in the river. Quincey growled and called out to the intruders "What are you doing hunting on our territory?!"
One of the tall wolfhounds called back "We have this fish that we are trying to catch. Could you come over and help us?" The other wolfhound paid no attention to Quincey and continued to fiercely paw the water.
The patrol trotted over to the dogs in the river. Isak asked "Why do you think it's alright to fish on our territory?"
"We didn't start on your territory, the fish swam downstream. We followed it. There's another one we caught up the bank a little. Now are you going to help us catch this or are you gonna watch?"
Quincey answered "We will help you if you agree to see our alpha."
The wolfhounds nodded. "Yeah, just get in here. This fish is slippery."
With the help of the patrol, the eight dogs easily surrounded the fish and caught it. "Now grab your fish and come back to camp with us."
[The patrol came across two siblings who caught X2 salmon.]

Rexx stood in front of Goose and Leizel, the two best candidates for a new troop. He wanted to get another group started because with the addition of three new recruits he wanted to build the connections within the kennel so dogs would stay.

"Go find a chicken from the closest farm. Bring it back as fast as you can. Whoever is back first gets to become the next troop leader, and the second place will get the group after that."

Goose and Leizel looked at each other, and padded out, their fur bristling at each other if they got to close.

Within a few hours, Goose was back first. Leizel padding behind him with a sore pad, "Stepped in brambles on the way to. I tried to get there but it was too much. Sorry Rexx."

Blue Moon Kennels

It took only a short time before fall came, and with it the enigma that was Zuli. She appeared at the borders of the territory one day, and Blaze and Cowboy were the first to find her. Blaze was stunned by how similar she looked to him - curled tail, blue eyes, and wolf-like coat pattern - while for Cowboy she was a welcome sight, being a girl other than his sister.

She quietly followed them back to the den-area where she met Osiris, and began to admire him immediately. He was certainly capable, having led this pack for some time, and that made her feel at ease. While initiatially she had held herself back due to nervousness, she now joined in the camaraderie of the pack and went through elaborate introductions with everyone.

Everyone admired Zuli's ice-blue eyes and quick wits. She quickly became an outspoken socialite, although she never developed the attention-seeking behavior of Dolly. Instead she was very casual and relaxed, and the others gravitated toward her rather than the other way around. Dolly was beginning to get jealous, and that jealousy was quickly making her angry.

With this new wolf-princess as an addition to the hunting party, Trance was finally able to devote all of his time to finding herbs and tending the needs of the pack.

...I was with shakaris for some time, they had, lets say a curiosity of mine and others, subjects, that what they called us, reactions Thalia continued to explain her life to Sahar, while still looking out for intruders and occasionally marking the borders I was put into the same cage as some wolves and we became friends. I guess those shikaris wanted to know if wolves can be friendly with dogs or not. Apparently, as I was told by those wolves, I got lucky, not everyone is as friendly as them, especially in those condidtions The female still had a bit of trouble speaking about her past, but as by Sahar's measures, she managed quite well. Then there was some chaos one day, many shikaris came all wearing blue pelts and we had a chance to escape. Whilst I don't know what happened to the wolves, and never seen them again, after the escape I met Axel. He was the newest addition to the 'subjects' and didn't know what even happened. His 'reaction' was never tested either. "I was minding my own business, and out of the blue they came and caught me, put me on the cage and left me there. After, I escaped" That's all he knew and told me about his experience in that place, and I hope it will remain the same Continuing to talk in with many pauses for clarification she suddenly stopped in her tracks and darted to a nearby bush, slightly whispering to the alpha I heard someone. The leader followed his Beta, whispering back. You go first, towards what you heard. Did you know that Estrela is a star? Your breed perfectly describes your eyes, darling. I'm Berret, by the way He said, tail wagging Wasn't it Estrella a star? Not Estrela? The Bata chuckled lightly, adding I guess we could take you in. Sahar? She asked this time Sure, I'll lead the way The alpha answered, leaving Berret and Thalia to converse

After Hestia was informed about her future apprenticeship situation, her siblings and Axel were curious about what she was told, but she hasn't explained them anything Not yet. I'll tell them tomorrow She kept reassuring herself, but never bringing the courage to talk up.

Shouted Panik, leaping at the Belgian Malinois I'm also an Alpha! I'm Kitsune, the Alpha of the Red Pack! I'll tear you to shreds, bad bear! Aput joined jumping on the 'bear' and trying to rip off as much fur from the Irontooth as possible. Watching the scene unfold, Trix let out a chuckle and moved towards Hestia Why don't you want to join the hunt? He asked trying to catch her gaze You can be the Nocturnal scout if you want. They come to the kennels and make sure that the dogs whose time has come find their way to the skies. How do you like the idea? Season: Winter

Winter is the bare season. Little prey is found and hard times may come to the kennels. The cold weather has made twolegs take shelter in their homes. Predators are uncommon but not unheard of. The deep snow makes it hard for dogs to trek through and new dogs found may be exhausted from their journeys.

"Very good Moolah. This time, I want you to try to help the younger tenderpaws and give them some pointers."
"Do I have to? I already know how to hunt."
"This training session is all about pack hunting for you. You need to learn how to communicate with the others. Who knows? Maybe by learning this you could be an epsilon one day."
"Oh, fine."
Chablis says "Now you four follow Moolah. Remember the basics we taught you and listen to him if he tells you to do something. Moolah's like another teacher now. Go on."
The new tenderpaws nodded and ran into the bushes with Moolah. He positioned everyone and corrected them on their crouching and hiding. He directed the pups when to attack and when to get out of each other's way.
Tania chuckles. "Moolah has made it a long way hasn't he?"
Isak agrees. "Yeah, I think he's almost ready for the test."
[The hunting party catches X2 chickens and X2 pheasants.]
[The patrol smells an unfamiliar scent by a river.]
[The herb hunting patrol finds X1 Comfey Root.]
[Moolah learns pack hunting. Mirabelle, Gregor, Moona, and Hugo all learn hunting.]
