odysseyclan was founded by hector, a tomcat of kittypet lineage. h
e, along with his littermates, were born to kittypets, and grew up i
n that lifestyle. however, he soon tired of that life—always being lo
oked after, served food on a silver platter, and a life without adven
ture. because he loved adventures. and so he went on one of his o
wn, after being sent a message—more like a dream—from cats with
stars in their fur, and wisdom in their eyes, their words. and so he f
ollwed their guidance, embarking on a long journey from his home a
nd from his family. he was a nomad, a wanderer, for the longest ti
me, but eventually, he settled down in the tianzi mountains and b
uilt a group of cats from nothing, calling them odysseyclan. the gr
oup has long since changed many times from the time of their fou
nder hector, but even so it still holds its original purpose—a place
of adventure for adventurers, like hector had been.

and although they are technically a clan, they don’t really use tha
t word for what they are—they prefer group over anything else.

in celebration of those who came long before them the first day of
every leaf-fall their leader sits upon the branch of a tree, the clan
below them, and tells the story of their first ancestors.

prideful and willful cats, their warriors are called berserkers who a
re well-trained in battle and hunting, and they are not afraid of sp
eaking their minds when the time calls for it.

Chapter One

When the sun fully rose, the sailors found that their source of good luck had departed in the night. In a panic they searched the ship, but alas, the cat called Welk, named for their resemblance to a welk shell, had disappeared. The mourned not only her presumed death. but also the loss of their good fortune, for they were sure that their luck had died with she sweet cat.

Welk was not dead, however. She has slipped off the ship, onto the back of one of Tagapagbalita’s servants, and the swift young dolphin had carried her away into the morning mist. Welk knew not how swiftly they trailed, or in what direction, nor did she care. The spray doused her pelt and the wind made her shiver, but her eyes were bright and her gaze eager, seeking the Isle of Pagtuklas, her new home.

“Home.” she whispered, the word foreign in her throat, her mouth trying the sound for the first time in years. The dolphin beneath her paws chattered in amusement, but as his master was not here, she could not understand what he was saying. Tagapagbalita had said that the dolphin was named Tapang, courage in the ancient tongue, and that the name had been well earned. A fresh wave of spray crashed into her, and as she blinked away the salty water, she saw it. It’s shores were white and smooth, the inland crowded with trees, birds swooped joyously in the air, and small animals chattered in the branches. “Pagtuklas.” she breathed, and she needed to interpreter to tell her the meaning of Tapang’s answering click.

The dolphin slowed as the water became shallower and he could not continue further without risking his safety. Thanking him kindly, Welk slid off his back, the water still deeper than her head. Paddling strongly, she made for the shore, each stroke more forceful that the last as every detail of the island became clear to her. Finally, her paws touched the sand, coating them in a thin white crust as she padded up the shore.

For hours she wandered the island, seeking out its secret places, and the nests of wild birds, before she found a deep pool in the very center of the island. There, Byahe waited for her, her eyes kind and deep. “Welcome, Taong Gala Welksoul.” she said softly, her head just above the water as she spoke. “I am Byahe, sea turtle god of safe journeys. I was the one who guided Tapang to this island, so it is only fitting that I welcome you.”

Welk bowed her head respectfully before answering, “Byahe, I thank you for your kindness, and I am humbled that you watched over one so insignificant as myself. But pray, why do you call me Taong Gala Welksoul? I am simply Welk, Welk of the streets, Welk of the docks, Welk of the ships.”

“In your old life, you were simply Welk.” the god replied, her dark eyes fixed on the feline as her flippers drifted gently in the water, “But upon coming here, you were given a new name. Taong Gala, the wander, Welksoul, the shell who desires strongly. This is the system you must use to name those who meet you here as the island drifts through the waters of the world and the mists of time. These names shall give you unity and strength.”

“But not all of us can be Taong Gala.” Welksoul questioned, her head tilting ever so slightly.

“Ah, yes. Every cat shall be named according to their position in the group, and by their pelt, and by their spirit.” The goddess answered, her voice amused, “You cannot lead alone, and your helper shall be given the position of Mapakali Espiritu, the wild soul. And to the cat who you entrust the safety of your clan shall be given the name Kalusugan, health. The others shall be named according to what they are in the ancient language, babies, children, mothers, wise ones. The fighters and hunters shall be named according to which of the Great Council claims them.”

“How shall I know when the Great Council has claimed a warrior?” Taong Gala Welksoul asked, her mind whirling with all the goddess instructed.

“It will be clear.” The sea turtle assured the feline, the slightest smile gracing her lips. “I must depart now, Taong Gala Welksoul, but I give you my blessing. The Great Council cannot give you many lives, but we give you a blessing, so that you may only die at the claws of another, or when your quest has been finished.”

“Thank you, Byahe.” The molly whispered, touching her forehead to the ground in reverence, “I pray that you will soon guide a helper to me, for I cannot carry out your instructions alone.” When she raised her head, the goddess was gone, but Welksoul was confident that she had heard her prayer.

spring has arrived in the clans, and life is prospering. the first whisper of this thriving season came from the small flower
buds bursting from every treetop. prey poked their heads out from their burrows, feeling a gentle breeze for the first time
in moons. prey will be higher due to this. as the cold temperature slowly rises, kittings will go much smoother, and the chances
of death by childbirth or being stillborn have drastically went down. along with the departure of freezing winds and chilling
snow, kittencough, whitecough, or greencough are highly uncommon in newleaf. however, with the heat rising, the remnants
of snow are beginning to melt, causing floods everywhere. storms will contribute to these, and due to this, more cats will
want to join your clan to avoid the bad weather.

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐫

Everyone knows about the Lake Tahoe Clans: Cherryclan, Frostclan, and Mistclan. Everyone knows about who their founders were, what they believed, and how they ruled their clans. Everyone knows about their histories and notable members, from Lightheart to Bramblethroat. Although perhaps I should exclude myself from this list, as my fame only comes from my Sight. But how many know about the small clowder in the city, that has been by Cherryclan's side since its beginning? How many people know more about it other than "Sweet Lime helped found it"? I, Bramblethroat, Keeper of Cherryclan, wish to rectify this error. I will tell you of a story that spans many moons and will continue to endure long after I am gone. This is the story of Cherryclan's Clowder.

Cherryclan's Clowder has flexible borders due to its nature as a clowder that needs to constantly fight for supremacy. Despite their elevation due to their proximity to Cherryclan, the matriarchs have never fully trusted males and so kick them out at six moons old, in the tradition of other clowders. However, many males wander the territory, marking it and occasionally hunting for the main clowder in return for family visitation rights and mating rights. In addition, the changing of leadership is seen as brutal by many clan cats, for when the current matriarch dies, several mollies who believe themselves to be qualified for the matriarch position will fight until all but one have backed down. The winner will then choose a new second who can serve her. On occasion, the previous second will be kept for her experience. However, a molly who attempts to murder or accidentally kills her rivals is always exiled for being unable to control her impulses.

Another oddity is the lack of elders, ancients, or a similar role. Instead, all mollies are supposed to hunt and fight for the clowder until their deaths although mollies who have reached an elderly age are expected to help around in camp, beg for food from humans, and teach the younger kits.

Kits are viewed as extremely precious, both male and female alike, as they will be the seeds of the next generation. Male kits who reach the age of six moons old are always handed off to either the father or one of the several bachelor groups wandering the territory. Adult toms have also fathered several Cherryclan and Frostclan cats while adult mollies are reluctant to lose their kits to the clans.

Matriarch: The matriarch is the leader of the clowder.
Second: The second is the matriarch's deputy.
Healers: The healers know some herbs (a gift of knowledge from Cherryclan) and help ensure the clowder's physical well-being.
Adults: Adults are all mollies older than eighteen moons.
Adolescents: Adolescents are mollies between the ages of six and eighteen moons. They are given guardians who protect, guide, and teach them the skills needed to survive.
Mothers: Mothers are nursing mollies.
Kits: Kits are any toms and mollies under the age of six moons.
Toms: Toms are all toms over the age of six moons. They wander in small groups, hunting for themselves and marking the borders of the clowder. Adolescent toms will often be taught the skills needed to survive by their fathers.

Clan Two // Hard Mode Activates at 9 cats !!
Eanakhclan, or Ankhclan, reside within the famed Great Pyramids of Giza. Hidden in the subterranean tunnels of the pyramids, the group rotates throughout the three pyramids when they feel fit. It's a difficult life as they have to hide away and essentially cease to exist so the two-legs don't steal them away but the clan survives as well as it can. Queens, kits and elders tend not to move with the clan from pyramid to pyramid and only one or two warriors stay with them.. if that. This clan is a very survival of the fittest group - they spare no pity for sick elders or kits with kittencough, often throwing them out into the harsh, scolding hot desert instead of sheltering them.

The ranks of this clan revolve around the gods they gaze at etchings of and hear on the voices of the constantly visiting two-legs.

Leader - Ra; God of the Sun.
Deputy - Bast; goddess of cats & Ra's faithful cat
Medicine Cat - Anubis; god of funerals
Med. App. - Serqet; goddess of Scorpions considered both good and bad.
Warriors - Set; god of desert, storms & evil.
Apprentices - Petbe; god of revenge.
Queens - Tawaret; goddess of hippos, especially looked after pregnant women.
Kits - Bes; god of dwarves, protector of households, mothers and children.
Elders - Shai; personification of fate. Seen as neither male nor female.

Inside a Pyramid
As far as the camp is concerned the main "camp" is within the central pyramid. The Tawwarets, Bes' and Shais live only within the Subterranean Chamber. The Basts, Sets and Petbes all share the Grand Gallery while the Anubis & Serqet store herbs and whatever else they need within the Queen's Chamber. To keep these important things hidden they have small stones that can be removed from the walls to reveal pockets or they tuck them away within the cracked corners and floors. The Ra stays within the King's Chamber. One of the oddest habits of this clan is how they commune with Starclan. Within the King's Chamber inside the ancient tomb is a mummy.. a mummy of a cat - Sunstar, to be exact. The Anubis, their Serqet and the Ra curl up with their noses pressed to dead Sunstar's rock cold, bandaged pelt to commune. As for water.. they often visit an oasis deep in the desert or go to Giza and weave their way among the two-legs.

Petbes, after finishing their assessment, must take the Test of the Gods. They must climb to the top of the great Sphinx and stay for however many days until they are reached out to by an ancestor or an ancient god of old. They are not allowed to eat or drink a top the Sphinx and many newly fledged warriors have died waiting for the words of their gods.

As for the cats they are mostly short-haired. To endure the scorching sands you must be equipped properly - short fur, thick paw pads and large ears.

Newleaf- A rare cold breeze seems to come out of nowhere. It's not severe and won't cause any sickness to sprout up but it's definitely a startling occurrence to pop up in the middle of Newleaf. A little bit of rain has startled to set in but it's of no concern yet.

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐫

Everyone knows about the Lake Tahoe Clans: Cherryclan, Frostclan, and Mistclan. Everyone knows about who their founders were, what they believed, and how they ruled their clans. Everyone knows about their histories and notable members, from Lightheart to Bramblethroat. Although perhaps I should exclude myself from this list, as my fame only comes from my Sight. But how many know about the small clowder in the city, that has been by Cherryclan's side since its beginning? How many people know more about it other than "Sweet Lime helped found it"? I, Bramblethroat, Keeper of Cherryclan, wish to rectify this error. I will tell you of a story that spans many moons and will continue to endure long after I am gone. This is the story of Cherryclan's Clowder.

Cherryclan's Clowder has flexible borders due to its nature as a clowder that needs to constantly fight for supremacy. Despite their elevation due to their proximity to Cherryclan, the matriarchs have never fully trusted males and so kick them out at six moons old, in the tradition of other clowders. However, many males wander the territory, marking it and occasionally hunting for the main clowder in return for family visitation rights and mating rights. In addition, the changing of leadership is seen as brutal by many clan cats, for when the current matriarch dies, several mollies who believe themselves to be qualified for the matriarch position will fight until all but one have backed down. The winner will then choose a new second who can serve her. On occasion, the previous second will be kept for her experience. However, a molly who attempts to murder or accidentally kills her rivals is always exiled for being unable to control her impulses.

Another oddity is the lack of elders, ancients, or a similar role. Instead, all mollies are supposed to hunt and fight for the clowder until their deaths although mollies who have reached an elderly age are expected to help around in camp, beg for food from humans, and teach the younger kits.

Kits are viewed as extremely precious, both male and female alike, as they will be the seeds of the next generation. Male kits who reach the age of six moons old are always handed off to either the father or one of the several bachelor groups wandering the territory. Adult toms have also fathered several Cherryclan and Frostclan cats while adult mollies are reluctant to lose their kits to the clans.

Matriarch: The matriarch is the leader of the clowder.
Second: The second is the matriarch's deputy.
Healers: The healers know some herbs (a gift of knowledge from Cherryclan) and help ensure the clowder's physical well-being.
Adults: Adults are all mollies older than eighteen moons.
Adolescents: Adolescents are mollies between the ages of six and eighteen moons. They are given guardians who protect, guide, and teach them the skills needed to survive.
Mothers: Mothers are nursing mollies.
Kits: Kits are any toms and mollies under the age of six moons.
Toms: Toms are all toms over the age of six moons. They wander in small groups, hunting for themselves and marking the borders of the clowder. Adolescent toms will often be taught the skills needed to survive by their fathers.

Clan Two // Hard Mode Activates at 9 cats !!
Eanakhclan, or Ankhclan, reside within the famed Great Pyramids of Giza. Hidden in the subterranean tunnels of the pyramids, the group rotates throughout the three pyramids when they feel fit. It's a difficult life as they have to hide away and essentially cease to exist so the two-legs don't steal them away but the clan survives as well as it can. Queens, kits and elders tend not to move with the clan from pyramid to pyramid and only one or two warriors stay with them.. if that. This clan is a very survival of the fittest group - they spare no pity for sick elders or kits with kittencough, often throwing them out into the harsh, scolding hot desert instead of sheltering them.

The ranks of this clan revolve around the gods they gaze at etchings of and hear on the voices of the constantly visiting two-legs.

Leader - Ra; God of the Sun.
Deputy - Bast; goddess of cats & Ra's faithful cat
Medicine Cat - Anubis; god of funerals
Med. App. - Serqet; goddess of Scorpions considered both good and bad.
Warriors - Set; god of desert, storms & evil.
Apprentices - Petbe; god of revenge.
Queens - Tawaret; goddess of hippos, especially looked after pregnant women.
Kits - Bes; god of dwarves, protector of households, mothers and children.
Elders - Shai; personification of fate. Seen as neither male nor female.

Inside a Pyramid
As far as the camp is concerned the main "camp" is within the central pyramid. The Tawwarets, Bes' and Shais live only within the Subterranean Chamber. The Basts, Sets and Petbes all share the Grand Gallery while the Anubis & Serqet store herbs and whatever else they need within the Queen's Chamber. To keep these important things hidden they have small stones that can be removed from the walls to reveal pockets or they tuck them away within the cracked corners and floors. The Ra stays within the King's Chamber. One of the oddest habits of this clan is how they commune with Starclan. Within the King's Chamber inside the ancient tomb is a mummy.. a mummy of a cat - Sunstar, to be exact. The Anubis, their Serqet and the Ra curl up with their noses pressed to dead Sunstar's rock cold, bandaged pelt to commune. As for water.. they often visit an oasis deep in the desert or go to Giza and weave their way among the two-legs.

Petbes, after finishing their assessment, must take the Test of the Gods. They must climb to the top of the great Sphinx and stay for however many days until they are reached out to by an ancestor or an ancient god of old. They are not allowed to eat or drink a top the Sphinx and many newly fledged warriors have died waiting for the words of their gods.

As for the cats they are mostly short-haired. To endure the scorching sands you must be equipped properly - short fur, thick paw pads and large ears.

The brown tabby looked like he'd seen the sun rise and set many times. His ears were notched, whiskers frazzled, and his tail kinked. He had a few scars though they were minimal and mostly hidden by his short stripped coat. He meandered within the great city of Giza, terribly bored with his life. The stars began to shimmer in the sky as the breeze grew chilly.

With a heavy sigh the tom found a spot shielded from the cool, desert city wind and fell asleep.

"Rat!" A voice snapped, demanding his attention.

The tom opened his eyes to see a large cat with a broken jaw and scarred face glowering down on him. His paws held stars and as Rat looked closer he noticed that the cats pelt was opaque.

"Get up," the starry tom growled, "you have a journey to partake in."

Rat stood up and pinned his ears back, "Who are you? And I don't need a journey." He lied through his yellowing teeth.

"My name is Sunstar. I was a clan leader many years ago when the two legs used to worship our every move." Sunstar lifted his head as he proudly spoke, "It is your turn to lead a clan of your own - Eanakhclan. Go to the place the twolegs flood, the place of stone pointed to the sun with the ancient half cat protecting them eternally. There, if you go, you shall be renamed. Reborn."

Rat woke with a start and knew exactly where to go. With a new vigor for life he tore off to the great pyramids, running until his muscles burned.

Somehow it was still dark when the tom reached the massive pyramids and without a moments hesitation he slunk inside the great monument. He jogged up the tunnels, searching for the location he was supposed to find... how would he know where it was? But then he saw it. The huge room was empty aside from the stone box near the back. The walls were littered with draws and characters who's names Rat didn't know. He did know, however, that he needed to get into that box.

Leaping in, Rat took in a big breath. He was faced with a mummy... a feline, large and with a... broken jaw? Rat smiled lightly as he realized what, no who, he'd found. The brown tabby curled up and fell asleep his nose pressed against Sunstar's body.

He woke to see Sunstar again and he was accompanied by eight others. "Time to receive your true name." Sunstar said with a lopsided smile.

A new cat emerged from the dream - a cat with a purpose and rejuvenated bones. He would make this work.. whatever it took. Jerboastar was now not just a cat but a Ra!

Morningstar was uneasy. Spottednose was fitting in with the Clan so far; he already set up a comfy medicine can den underneath large bushes that lined a side of the cabin. Stormstrike had helped him create comfortable nests for Spottednose and potential sick cats. For once, the fresh-kill pile was actually a pile, although a small one, and the birds were sweetly singing in the beautiful new-leaf weather. Everything seemed perfect. Regardless, Morningstar was still uneasy. She almost couldn't put her mind on it. She had a loyal friend who would fight by her side and a medicine cat with a good nose for herbs. Who else could she possibly need? She stretched to clear her head and walked over to the two toms discussing recent hunts.
"I still don't understand why you think it's fun to chase birds and squirrels around the place," Spottednose was saying. "I prefer cobwebs and plants that don't move."
Stormstrike cast a bemused look at his leader that just joined them. "You don't get an adrenaline rush from digging up leaves." He countered.
"First of all, you don't dig up leaves. That would kill the plant instead of giving them another chance of sprouting which is pointless." Spottednose took a deep breath to continue his next lecture.
Morningstar decided to cut this conversation short. "How about you continue to look for herbs, Spottednose?" She suggested. Stormstrike looked relieved at the change of topic. "And Stormstrike, you could check our borders."
"Right-o, boss." The warrior chirped.
"Alright," Spottednose said reluctantly. "But I am looking forward to eating that squirrel when I get back."
"Sharing that squirrel." Morningstar absentmindedly corrected.
"Fine, sharing." Spottednose huffed and trailed Stormstrike out into the forest.
The leader sat alone watching the branches dip and sway in the breeze for a time. Hearing the various forest noises, she suddenly felt very small in a large world. She was now responsible for other cats' lives. Their successes and their failures rested on her decisions. Once again, she felt lonely even with her new Clanmates. The last time she felt like this, she depended on her ancestors to send her what she needed. StarClan did promise her that she was never truly alone.
While Morningstar would have preferred to tell the other two where she was going off to, she didn't want to put off another visit to the Moonpool any longer. Hoping not to run into any trouble, Morningstar started off towards the Moonpool to ask for a faithful deputy.

Duskstar felt somewhat soothed. In their last patrol, she and Minnowfur had discovered a kit just meeting apprentice age on the way. The tom cat had only ever had the name of a loner: Twig. Duskstar and Minnowfur granted him his clan name, Twigpaw, and took him into the clan. Since his arrival, Duskstar had felt that her Clan was truly coming together. She watched Minnowfur and her new apprentice discussing the types of prey within the territory for some time before she padded over to join them.
"Minnowfur, Twigpaw," she murmured, "Would you like to patrol the territory with me? It could be a good chance for Twigpaw to see the rest of our borders, and perhaps the river."
"Yeah! That sounds awesome!" Minnowfur jabbed him in the side. "I mean.... yes, Duskstar, could we go with you?"
Duskstar snorted and looked to Minnowfur for her approval, which she gave with a quiet nod of the head. "It's worth a try. At the very least, it would be good to check on the river for any risk of flooding. We're not yet strong enough to handle a flood if we don't see it coming." With their minds made up, the three cats left the camp and went off into the territory.
