the fox didn't dare to come back, that much frecklestar knew. as she opened her eyes,
she acknowledged the fact that she was no longer near the roaring ocean waves or calm
breeze. it was eerily quiet- but still, frecklestar could sense that she was not alone. she
glanced down at her figure, a misty emblem of hope and a fear sparkling with the slightest
tint of an autumn night's star. "you have no need to feel fear, you are among
ancestors here." a soft, melodic voice tickled frecklestar's sensitive ear fluff and shatt
ered the silence. the tortoiseshell couldonly stare, her mouth ajar, as the nearly faded starclan
warrior approached her with as much grace as a full grown deer. "do you remember me,
my granddaughter? or were you too young? a tiny child you were, but i could see the hope of an
entire clan in your eyes." the pale she-cat's eyes turned gray as though she was struggling
to remember something important. the starclan warrior's eyes then hardened, and she gazed fier
cely at frecklestar. "you have lost your first life. worst things are to come to drizzl
eclan, and you must hold fast. you will watch many die by your own fault, and you will watch too
many of suffer beyond your control. remember, my dearest granddaughter: darkness will herald
darkness, until even the smallest beacon of light is drowned out by ebony's last star."

frecklestar was whisked back to the present tense and blood tinged her nose. though her chest
fur was still awash with crimson, she was no longer in pain or hurting. starclan had healed her
injuries and sent her back. as she gazed hopelessly at her crumbled kit, she found herself curs
ing her ancestors. why did you not heal my poor, innocent buntingkit? her wails of grief
brought sorrelberry and sweetbriar to her aid. frecklestar could only glance helplessly as they
wrapped her daughter in cobwebs. acciapaw did his best to comfort the grieving leader, but the
tom-cat did not understand motherhood or the guilt she was feeling. he could only give her
thyme, and wait for the herbs to calm her anxieties and shock. the leader seemed impossibly frail
and unlike herself- if a twig landed on her back, it might cause her to crumple. and still, she had
not once thought of the prophecy her grandmother so desperately urged her to remember.

Moonstar sat up from her sleep. She padded outside as Emeraldeyes and the two apprentices walked into camp carrying prey. Emeraldeyes walked over too her wile Bluepaw and Hawkpaw put the prey on the pile.
"They whent hunting then I took them training. They learnt how to climb." He said. "I'm leading a boarder patrol. The apprentices won't come, thier too tired."
"I'll come."
"Ok,". he called out to Russetfur:" We're leaving the camp for a patrol! We'll be back soon!"

Russetfur wandered to the camp entrance. She could smell burdock somewhere, and there was a strong smell of mint. She had known a little bit about herbs, she was thinking of becoming a medicine cat after her kits were born. Maybe a starclan cat could mentor her?

"Bluepaw! Hawkpaw!" She called.
"Yes!" Came two voices from the apprentice den.
"Come here! I need your help!" She called again.

A pretty, dark pointed she-cat with blue eyes bounded over to her swiftly followed by a dark tabby with Amber eyes.

"Ah good. I need you to stock up on herbs. So find anything that smells like onions or catnip!" She instructed.

"I see. Ok, I know what to look for!" Said Bluepaw.

"The forest is very beautify today...." Said the Dark tabby with green eyes.
"Yes, it is." Moonstar replied.
"...Just like you." Finished Emeraldeyes. Moonstar flushed.
"Thank you" she said. They walked in silence. They finished patrolling the northern and southern borders.
"Moonstar."
"Yes?"
"Would you, in one moon, consider, to...um, come with me on an um outing?" He stuttered. Moonstar looked at him with amusement in her eyes.
"Are you asking me out?" She said with a smile. Emeraldeyes flushed
"Yes."

shubunkinstar awoke with a start, yowling as she drew her nose away from the icy cold waters of the moonpool. as she shook her tortoiseshell muzzle, the leader panned her green eyes around the clearing, resting on a tom who had suddenly appeared. "hello," the tom mewed, his oddly black-and-white pelt shining in the dawn light. "i'm kumonryu."

fitting, shubunkinstar thought to herself. the newcomer's pelt was a bicolor black-and-white just like the koi he was named for. "well, i'm shubunkinstar," the tortie leader introduced, dipping her head graciously. "i am the leader of koiclan. we are looking for a deputy, has starclan sent you?"

kumonryu seemed interested. "starclan? yes, i believe my arrival had something to do with that..." he trailed off, his green eyes dull and scanning the ground. "i'd like to join your clan."

"great!" shubunkinstar mewed. "you'll be my deputy."

the bicolor tom gladly accepted the new name 'kumonryuclaw', and set off on a short hunting trip before he agreed to scout for a camp location. meanwhile, shubunkinstar patrolled herself, looking for anythign that may have been hidden on the island.

Sunstar welcomes Brookmoss, her new deputy. She shows him the hardly formed camp, then explains Clan life to him. "More importantly, we should hunt if we want to have any chance of attracting new cats, and if we want to live!" She chuckled nervously,
glancing over at Brookmoss to make sure he was listening. "Well then, let's get to it." She strode out of camp to hunt, Brookmoss trailing behind her more slowly as he took in the forest.

Perhaps one of the cats on patrol can give them +1 burnet next time they see them? If not, the rogue will likely leave EchoClan territory forever.

➨ During Salmonstar's patrol, young Phantompaw proves to be overzealous as he tries to catch a large bird to impress both the leader and deputy, the white tom takes a premature leap towards his prey and ends up falling down the wrong way and sprains one of his front paws. He will have to spend two moons of rest in the the medicine cat's den before he can think of continuing his training.

Season: Leaf-Green
Weather: Summer. It is only just the start of Leaf-Green, only being discernible from New-Leaf in subtle ways so far. The winds are somewhat milder in most areas, and the flooding from New-Leaf, both due to snow and rain, is beginning to slowly die down again. Two-leg activity is starting to increase, although they have so far been present near very few clans. There are still many cats looking for new homes, but their numbers are gradually decreasing for the season.

one moment, shubunkinstar was creeping slowly through the underbrush, looking to the side for any threats, and the next moment, she was nose-to-nose with a rogue. blinking, the tortoiseshell queen studied the tom that stood before her. he was a sleek, pretty colorpoint, and wore the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever saw. clearing her throat, shubunkinstar greeted him with a simple "hello", and silently cursed as her voice broke in the middle of the word.

"good evening," the tom mewed back, clearly startled by the large she-cat's sudden appearance. "wh.. who are you?"

"i'm shubunkinstar," the tortie replied, dipping her patched head. "leader of koiclan." after a few seconds of silence, shubunkinstar looked back up, embarrassed when she saw the newcomer's confused look. "oh, koiclan is a clan of cats i lead. it's like a group where we all hunt for and protect each other, with different ranks and jobs and stuff." the siamese tom looked slightly less puzzled at this quick explanation. "you look like you would make a fine warrior," shubunkinstar added, trying to sound as casual as possible.

the rogue tom purred. "i don't know what that means, but i guess i'm flattered." he shrugged his white shoulders. "that clan stuff sounds interesting."

"would you like to join?" shubunkinstar asked, regretting the words as the tom seemed a bit uneasy at them.

"uh, sure. if it's safer than roaming the island alone, i'll be fine with it."

shubunkinstar immediately brightened. "great!" pausing, she thoguht for a moment. "you'll need a warrior name. that's a prefix that describes your appearance, and a suffix that also describes it or your skills. how about jikin for your prefix, since your pointed pattern resembles a jikin goldfish?"

the tom shrugged, smiling. "don't know what that is, but it sounds pretty! and i don't really have any skills, i'm just a normal cat."

the tortoiseshell leader frowned. "i'm sure you do," she mewed. "everyone has something they're good at. but if you want a plain suffix, how about fur or pelt?"

shubunkinstar grinned as she saw the rogue look interested. "jikinpelt sounds nice," he meowed. "i like that. jikinpelt."

"great!" shubunkinstar mewed. padding up to jikinpelt's side, she pressed their flanks together. "now, there's one more cat in the clan. he's my deputy, kumonryuclaw."

"that's a mouthful," jikinpelt joked.

"yeah," the tortie laughed. "anyways, let's go see if we can find him. he should be somewhere close by."

the pair began to search the forest, and eventually picked up on the black-and-white tom's trail. after a few minutes, they found him, and shubunkinstar was pleased to see that he had found a closed-in clearing where a camp could me made. "it looks amazing," she mewed. "kumonryuclaw, can you and jikinpelt start building the dens? and can you teach him about clan rules and customs?"

"of course," kumonryuclaw mewed evenly. "do you need to go somewhere?"

"yes, i've just realized that it's past time for me to go to the moonpool. i'll see you both in the morning!"

after murmuring a few goodbyes, shubunkinstar turned around and began sprinting to the moonpool, vaguely aware of the confused questions of jikinpelt back in the camp. after several minutes of running, shubunkinstar felt the same gravity she had felt on the night before she found kumonryuclaw, the pulsing force that drew her to the moonpool. following the force, she soon arrived at the shimmering pond, and was pleased to find the same spirit-fish she had seen earlier leaping about and breaking the crystal-like, irridescent water surface.

closing her pale green eyes, shubunkinstar dipped her nose to the icy water. immediately, she recoiled, and realized she was in starclan now. the pointed figure of blackmuzzle appeared before her, and shubunkinstar realized that he looked just like jikinpelt, only with darker and longer fur. "hello," shubunkinstar mewed. blackmuzzle dipped his head and smiled at her.

"so," blackmuzzle purred. "you're late." the colorpoint tom chuckled as shubunkinstar froze in panic. "it's fine, no one really cares. now, is there anything you've come to request from us?"

"i'd like a medicine cat," shubunkinstar mewed, relaxing. "my clan is growing fast and they'll need someone to take care of them."

blackmuzzle dipped his head once more. "very well," he meowed. "we'll send you a medicine cat. wake up now, dawn is breaking."

Well, it was time. Batstar made his way out to where the rouge was at. A ginger tabby huh? "There you are. Batstar I assume?" The tom meowed out. "That is correct. May I ask your name?" The tom replied back. "The name is Ajax. Now Batstar, you're aware that you settled down where my family once lived huh? Once we saw you getting interested in those tunnels we knew we had to go. A clan would from here and we didn't want to start a conflict. You've also heard that I did have the slightest interest in joining? Speak up boy! What is ShrikeClan?" Ajax snapped. Batstar was a bit taken back how fearless the tom seemed. He was stern and not shaking. Batstar explained how ShrikeClan did indeed live in the tunnels as well was explaining the ranks and traditions and values. The more and more he talked, the more and more Ajax seemed intrigued. "I see. Look here Batstar, I got a sister, brother, my sister's mate, my own mate, and a son out there. I'll join your clan and maybe you could convince them as well." Ajax explained, "My mate is a tortoiseshell cat, my son is also a ginger tabby like me. My brother is a brown and white tabby, my sister is a ginger tabby and her mate is a bengal cat. We can go out to find them and bring them to the clan. Some may be more harder than others but they will eventually all join. What do you say? Oh and uh I'd also like to be called Foxblaze." Batstar thought for a bit. They would benefit from a lot more cats in the clan. "Okay Foxblaze. We will set off now."

On the other side of the territory, Tinystep and Weaseltuft were hunting. "Got on!" Tinystep boasted and he quickly killed a rather large fish. "You always win at this." Weaseltuft whined. "Maybe you don't have to." The two cats looked around hearing the different voice. "I'm sorry I scared you. I just want to help." A calico female meowed as she came out of her hiding place and walked on over. With that, the she cat helped both cats learn their mistakes in fishing and showed them how it was done. "Thank you so much! What's your name?" Tinystep meowed. "I'm Sycamore." Tinystep felt his face heat up a bit. "Wow. That's really pretty." He mumbled with a smile. Weaseltuft nudged him out of his thoughts and the three bonded some more. Sycamore eventually agreed to join their clan as a guard as she always wanted to defend her clan. "I know you like her." Weaseltuft chuckled softly to Tinystep. "Shut up and let's just get back to camp alright?" The tom snapped before padding off.

Egretstar was hunched over in eager conversation with one of Featherclan’s two newest members: Tealfeather, the, as the toms repeatedly mentioned, gorgeous medicine cat. In Wrenclaw’s opinion, Tealfeather was completely bird-brained and shouldn’t be trusted to care for a rock, but that seemed not matter. Wrenclaw huffed as Egretstar threw back his head to laugh at something Tealfeather had murmured, curling her tail over the whites of her paws.
////////”Someone woke up with burrs in her fur.” Wrenclaw tilted her head, grimacing, at the teasing purr. Pigeonface approached slowly, her ever-swelling stomach only just noticeable under her shaggy white coat. The queen’s blue and gold eyes twinkled in barely contained amusement as she settled down beside the young warrior, their backs to the fresh-kill pile Wrenclaw was meant to be focussed on guarding. ”He’ll grow bored of the shiny new thing soon enough,” Pigeonface reassured, nodding at the snowy-white leader.
////////Wrenclaw bristled uncomfortably, turning away to lick at the short hairs on her chest. ”I don’t know what you mean,” she mumbled, pretending not to notice the queen’s smirk in the corner of her eye. ”I’m glad someone else has to listen to him gush about the ‘Great White Bird’ and the ‘Mighty Featherclan’ sun-up, sun-down,” Wrenclaw protested, scowling at how little she believed her own words. ”Oh, go pop out some kittens,” she snapped when Pigeonface continued to stare expectantly at her, stalking away to demand Egretstar stop flirting with Tealfeather – who blushed and spluttered, horribly, in response – and get around to organising the day’s chores.
////////Pigeonface giggled lightly, tucking her paws under her as she lay down to guard the fresh-kill. When she joined, she promised her pregnancy would not keep her from pulling her own weight – and Starclan-be-damned if she was about to break a promise. Not that snoozing in the sun ‘guarding’ was particularly laborious work, but it needed to be done.
//////// ”Hola, mi amor,” Cardinalfang purred, gracefully dropping down from the tree directly behind Pigeonface and landing on the forest floor with a delicate ‘thump’. The grey molly peered at him through hooded eyelids, silently acknowledging Tanagerfur – notably less impressively – scuttling down the tree trunk behind his brother with a sharp hiss.
//////// ”Good morning boys,” Pigeonface greeted, grooming at her paws in disinterest in the ginger tom’s flirtation. ”You’re up late,” she pointed out between licks, mainly directing the accusation at Cardinalfang. She had heard Tanagerfur say no more than five words in the moon she had known the tabby brothers, and none of them had been in a language she spoke.
////////Cardinalfang stretched out his small frame, muzzle splitting in a yawn that flashed the whites of his sharp fangs. His littermate stood stoic at his flank, tail tip flicking impatiently. Tanagerfur had been itching to be out hunting since the skies had turned pink with the first hint of dawn. ”Don’t you cause trouble while we’re gone, gatita,” Cardinalfang purred with a wink, chuckling lightly as Pigeonface swatted sharply at his legs as he padded by, flicking his tail out at her muzzle in retaliation. Before the queen could respond, the two toms bounded away, ears pricked and eyes alert in eager anticipation of the hunt.

////////Egretstar walked alongside Wrenclaw in unusual silence, gazing ahead of the patrol with a faint, curious smile on his white muzzle. Wrenclaw glanced at him, biting her lip to keep from asking what was on his mind. She hadn’t realised how the patrols dragged without the tom’s mindless chatter, but the last thing she wanted to hear was ‘Tealfeather this’ and ‘Tealfeather that’.
////////If only she knew that Egretstar’s thoughts weren’t on Tealfeather at all – well, not in that way (well, sometimes that way). But, mainly, he was eagerly anticipating making his visit to the Moonstone that night. Tealfeather had seemed to think that the great white egret had important messages waiting to be shared.

Next Moon-Flower Visit: Now (Week since my last post)

"You did what?!" Roestar growled. Cloudpaw sat in front of him, a mouse hanging from his jaws. His head drooped lower as Roestar's eyes bore into him.
"Weth, we'f been 'ow on 'rey, I 'ough-" Roestar cut his mumbles off.
"We have enough to feed the few cats we have now. Do you know how dangerous it is out there? Herds of deer are coming, and with your small size, you could easily be trampled!" Roestar sighed, and touched Cloudpaw's head with his nose.
"I know you only meant well, but that still doesn't save you. You may not leave camp for one moon." He expected protest, but Cloudpaw only nodded.
"Yes Roestar." He moved around the leader to place his mouse on the freshkill pile. Roestar watched him head back to his nest, feeling bad. Cloudpaw was like a son to him, but that didn't spare him the rules. At least he wouldn't have to reassigned him a new mentor while he is stuck in camp, with Daisyflight expecting kits.
