Welcome to the Hill Country Canine Association. The goal of this species is to let members of the community help develop the breed specific genetics over time. We will have competitions and voting sessions for the genetics that will be chosen for the breed. If you would like to participate in this community driven breed, all you have to do is go over to our adoptions page in the Oekaki and apply for one! - - - - ππππππ

- The Hill Country Canine is a magnificent and robust large dog breed specifically bred for herding cattle in the rugged terrain of Texas's Hill Country. Known for its impressive size and strength, this breed serves as an invaluable partner to ranchers and cattle farmers in managing and moving livestock across vast expanses of land.
Standing tall at an average height of 26 to 30 inches (66 to 76 cm) at the shoulder and weighing between 80 to 100 pounds (36 to 45 kg), the Hill Country Canine possesses a solid and muscular build that allows it to endure long hours of physical work. Its body is well-proportioned, with a deep chest, strong legs, and a broad, expressive head that showcases its intelligence and determination.
The Hill Country Canine is renowned for its exceptional herding skills. These dogs possess an innate instinct to gather, drive, and control cattle with remarkable precision and efficiency. With their sharp intellect, keen eyes, and natural agility, they have an uncanny ability to anticipate the movements of the livestock and make split-second decisions to ensure their safe and orderly management.
Beyond their herding abilities, the Hill Country Canine is also known for its loyalty and devotion to its human companions. They form strong bonds with their owners and exhibit a calm and gentle demeanor, making them excellent family pets as well. However, due to their working heritage, they thrive best in environments where they have ample space to exercise and opportunities to engage in mentally stimulating activities.

- Adopting one of this beautiful breed requires a ChickenSmoothie Account. If your here, you most likely have one already! Once you have adopted a HCC, you will be allowed to participate in the Genetic Research of this breed and train your dog to participate in the HCCA Dog Show.
We Do allow the trade and USD sale of a HCC, however all trades and sales must be done on Toyhouse. No need to worry if you don't have an account! We give codes out to new members who have recently adopted a HCC when we have them to give. If you are worried about getting an account, simply reach out to someone of our community has offered one or visit this toyhouse invite codes thread, right here on ChickenSmoothie to request one! When adding your HCC to Toyhouse, please make sure you list Marz-Barz as the Base Artist for this species.
We have no limitations on the number of HCCs you can hold in your kennel. All we ask is that you keep a detailed record of each one, wether that be on Toyhouse with an individual Character profile, or here on ChickenSmoothie by using the Character Storage forum. Make sure that each dog has their own post within your kennel thread, or their own profile on Toyhouse.

- The Hill Country Canine Association grants a "Membership" to someone who adopts a HCC. This membership gives you access to Genetics Research but also the HCCA Country Club. The Country Club is out "Fan Club" thread here on ChickenSmoothie. HCCA Members can use this thread to discuss their dogs or the community.
If a member is found to be inactive, their dogs will not be put up for sale or trade by the community. However, if a member loses their membership within our community, their dogs will be rehomed through the HCCA Country Club thread. Members will lose their membership if they break our rules, banned on ChickenSmoothie or banned from Toyhouse. We can't just leave those dogs to fend for themselves, now can we?

- The HCCA Dog Show is a competition that has two categories: Specialty Show & Herding. The Specialty Show is the basic Dog Show, much like a Best In Breed dog show. You can enter your HCCs into the Dog Show in both categories, but remember that it is based purely on random generated numbers.
At this time, we do not have a set schedule for the Dog Show. We plan to do a weekly Dog Show, however we plan to have a Member of our HCCA be in charge of this. They will be the one to roll the numbers and organize it, and this is to encourage community involvement at even the highest positions in our community.
