the renaissance fairground is wide and sprawling, full of colorful tents and bustling crowds. while many of the winding paths lead toward food stalls and games, you pass by a dirt trail. the ground has long-since been flattened by hundreds of paws, the steps wearing away at the grass to lead towards... something.

when you peer down the path, you realized that it's longer than you first thought, leading away from the shops and tents. but, you don't have to strain your ears to hear many voices raised in cheers. the words of the distant crowd are grambled, unrecognizable from so far away, and you begin to pad down the path. your curiosity leads you onward.

the end of the trail leads to a large open field. a larger crow watches, their voices melding together in cheers as two large, muscular cats strut, showing off their strength as they carry large pointed sticks. just as your brow furrows in confusion and you wonder what in the world are they doing?, a stranger approaches you.

"a newcomer! welcome," they greet you. their white paws have been muddied, as if they had been running up and down the field since dawn. stranger still, they also carry one of the sharpened sticks and a cloak on their back. it takes them a moment, but they notice your glance. they throw their head back in a laugh. "ah - i see. you've never heard of jousting before?" they ask. when you shake your head, they wave you closer to the crowd. the two cats from before now stand on opposite sides of the field. "lucky for you, i found you. my name's loras, the jousting master."

he steers your attention back towards the field. the two cats there stand facing each other before a smaller cat steps forward and waves a bright flag. at the cue, the cats rush towards each other with the pointed sticks held out. you watch in horror, waiting to hear screams of fear. but, instead, the crowd cheers when one of the cats taps the other's shoulder with his stick. the two cats reach the ends of the field, and loras nods approvingly.

"jousting - it requires speed, strength, agility... and courage, most of all." he winks at you. "but, for cats that can rise to the challenge, it's very rewarding. so, what do you say? do you want to try it out?"

when loras notices your excitement, he visibly brightens. "i knew you had the spark in you. well, first thing's first, there are a few things to keep in mind..."

GUIDELINES
» you must be an active member of cac to participate in the jousting tournament. you must have posted within the last 30 days to play
» you may sign up for the master's tournament once for the duration of the event, and the daily tournament once a day. i will post when sign-ups are open
» sign-ups for daily tournaments will be open after the previous tournament's results have been posted. i will post when sign-ups are closed for that day
» you are automatically awarded x5 tokens for every tournament you participate in, including the master's tournament and daily tournaments. additional prizes will be awarded to winners

with the formalities out of the way, loras grins. "we have two types of tournaments running. we're holding daily tournaments every day, and you're welcome to participate every day. we also have the master's tournament. you can sign up any time before the end of the event, but you may only have one entry. the winner will be announced at the end of the event."
