Genes Affecting Body Shape

#1 P Locus (ear shape)

PP - Erect
Pp - Either Tipped or Assymetrical
pp - Button

#2 F Locus (coat length)

FF - Smooth coat
Ff - Feathered ears
ff - Feathering fully expressed

#3 R Locus (ridge size)

RR - Small Ridge
Rr - Medium Ridge
rr - Large Ridge

#4 A Locus

Ay - Sable
Aw - Agouti
At - Tan Points
As - Saddle
ai - Ailurus
al - Seal
a - Recessive Solid Black

#5 B Locus (dilutes black to brown, also affects nose and eye color)

BB, Bb - Black
bb - Brown/chocolate

#6 C Locus (color intensity of non-black coat areas)

CC - Dark Red / Dark Brown
Cc - Copper / Medium Brown
cc - Tan
cce - Silver
cece - Offwhite

#7 D Locus (dilutes black to blue, also affects nose and eye color)

DD, Dd - Black
dd - Blue

SPECIAL NOTE: When a dog is homozygous recessive in both the B and D Locus, that dog's color will be Isabella rather than chocolate or blue.

#8 E Locus

Em - Gives the dog a black mask on their face
Ex - Creates an extended mask which also pigments the chest, stomach, and paws.
E - Standard, no effect
e - Recessive Red (a fully red coat)

#9 G Locus (determines whether the dog's hair greys as they mature)

G - Greying is present, and gets lighter with age
Gs - Snowflakes of greyed fur
g - No greying (normal coat color is expressed)

#10 H Locus (determines whether a dog will be harlequin or not, only affects the dog if the merle gene is present.

Homozygous HH results in the loss of the puppies).
H - Harlequin
h - non-Harlequin

#11 K Locus (determines extent of black in the coat)

KK, Kk - Dominant black (coat will be solid black)
KbrKbr, Kbrk - Brindle (black is present as a series of stripes)

KdKd, Kdk - Dun (primitive equine markings present as a series of stripes)
krkr - Royal Brindle || Single copy just gives the facial and tail markings, occasionally dorsal as well though stripes may vary from one to three.

kyky - yellow
kk - Allows the A Locus to express itself

M - Merle
Mc - Cryptic Merle
Ma - Atypical Merle
Mt - Tweed Merle
m - non-merle

#13 S Locus

S - No White
Si - Irish White
Sp - Piebald

Sv - Van White || Spots of color on the head, especially over the ears, as well as a patch at the base of the tail and colored tail, which may or may not be ringed with white. If not, then the coloration will be either striped darker (with accompanying tabby marks on forehead) or else smoke.
soso - Okapi || gives a lightened blush to the cheeks, with white banding on the legs and white striping on the rear.
