Welcome to Baltic Huskies (BH) - the breed and forefront of the Baltic Winters Sled Dog Association (BWSDA)!

A large part of Baltic Huskies is bettering the breed. Striving for greatness can be done by any BH owner! Here, at the association's expo, BH competitions happen year round. You can enter your dog for a chance to not only get great prestige, but win some great prizes too!

Most of these systems have been pulled from Morghettio's SCS competitions center with some adjustments for the BWSDA.

Systems and Titles

Postby honeybunchesofoats » Tue May 26, 2020 10:25 am

With Baltic Huskies, you can decide to have your dog specialize in a few of the association approved expo competitions! While your dog is not limited to these sports outside of the expo, this is what the association has decided will be good to pursue in accordance with the standard Baltic Husky.

Every husky begins as a novice in their sport. They may choose to focus in one sport, or two: however, before a dog can take on any other sports, they must reach the highest level to prove they have complete mastery over what they are already learning. The highest title available is the grand champion! With every title a dog acquires, they not only receive better prizes, but more clout! Since the titles are specific to each dog, the goal here is to up your dog to it's best potential!

One of the main perks for entering your dog is the ability to unlock more breeding slots for your specific Baltic Husky. This is a perk that cannot be gained elsewhere! Additionally, you will receive prizes each time your dog advances to a higher class. The grand prize for reaching the peak mastery is a Baltic Husky custom, so that you can start all over again!

In order to reach a higher class, your dog must have a certain amount of expo credits assigned to them. This is achieved by placing into competitions. If your dog places into first place, you will gain 6 expo credits from that competition. If your dog places into second place, your dog will gain 4 expo credits. If your dog places into third place, your dog will gain two expo credits. To break this down in a small explanation:

First place = 6 expo credits; Second place = 4 expo credits; Third place = 2 expo credits
These credits are per dog, and cannot be transferred.

Why are expo credits necessary? Well, they indicate how well your dog is doing overall. This way, someone who places in first three times is not ranked the same as someone who placed in third three times.

In order to reach higher classes and thus higher titles, your dog must have a certain number of expo credits.

      Novice -> Advanced [12 credits] -> Masters [18 credits]
Excellent [24 credits] -> Champion [LOCKED] -> Grand Champion [LOCKED]

Not only can you add your kennel prefix to a dog, but you can also add your title prefix to a dog as well! While this is optional, it is an easy way to show off your dog's skill. So, for example, if the mascot Radi was a Grand Champion in Sledding, the prefix "GChSl" can be added to his name.

While this system is set in place, some dogs may not be able to do all sports. Any standard BH (no edits) will be able to enter any competition, though some dogs with limitations like mixed breeds or those with impairments (loss of limb, blindness, deafness, etc) may be barred from some expo competitions. Please feel free to check in with an association staff member beforehand to make sure your dog can enter!

Entering the Expo

Postby honeybunchesofoats » Tue May 26, 2020 10:49 am

Requirements, judging, and how to enter!

You must read the above post to understand the information below.

The Expo is, without all the flavor text and explanations, incredibly simple. Basically, every time you submit a form, your dog will be rolled on a scale from 0-100. The higher the number, the better! If you add an extra to the form that meets the requirements, you get brownie points added to your score. This is particularly helpful in higher class titles, since the minimum required number to advance gets higher!
For the first three classes (novice, advanced, masters) treat it as if your dog is competing against a bunch of fake dogs. The scores required will always be the same, so you must meet the minimum for each placement in order to place. For the higher classes (excellent, champion, and grand champion) you will be entering against other BWSDA dogs. So, there is no minimum requirement for each placement: you just want to roll better than the dogs before you! Because of this, you must wait for more dogs of your dog's class to enter before it will get judged.

      _______________________________________________________________________________________

To break this down more simple:
      - You automatically are rolled 0-100 every form you put in
      - For every prompt you submit with each form, you are automatically given an extra 15 points
      - > Based off of effort / improvement from previous pieces, you can receive up to an additional 15 points for a total of 30 bonus
      - The higher the points, the better the score for your dog!
      - For novice, advanced, and masters, you must meet the minimum requirement for first, second, or third place in order to get points. These classes are based off of your dog only, so these numbers will be the same.
      - For excellent, champion, and grand champion, there are no minimum requirements. Instead, you will be competing against other BWSDA users! Whoever has the highest score takes first, next is second, and next is third.
      - For excellent, champion, and grand champion classes, you must wait until a minimum amount of CS user's dogs are entered before the competition can be judged.

Please refer to the post above for expo credits per placement, as well as the required credits for each class.

Similar to the class requirements, when you move up in the classes your dog's requirement for placing will change. The requirements for placing in your class are based off of your current title when submitting the form!

      Novice
      1st Place; 80 points, 2nd Place; 70 points, 3rd Place; 51 points.

      Advanced
      1st Place; 89 points, 2nd Place; 80 points, 3rd Place; 66 points.

      Masters
      1st Place; 95 points, 2nd Place; 90 points, 3rd Place; 76 points.

      Excellent
Based off of other BWSDA users in that specific competition!

      Champion - LOCKED
Based off of other BWSDA users in that specific competition!

      Grand Champion - LOCKED
Based off of other BWSDA users in that specific competition!

      _______________________________________________________________________________________

Once you have read and understood everything, make sure the expo is currently open! If the expo is open, feel free to submit a form for your dog's class. If you wish to add a prompt to your form, please refer to this prompt list for you to use!

Prompts must either be a lined/lineless colored piece, or 350 words minimum!

Below is the form you must submit: please post this here ONLY when the expo is open. Drawings can be directly linked or shown using the [img] command; for writing, please post somewhere like the character storage boards (or your kennel) and link to the post! (Link to an example here)

      Code: Select all
