Elements in Unrest manifest in both canines and felines. A majority of Eleria citizens have some form of elemental magic, with the "Big Four" being the most common. Fire, water, earth, and air are the basic elements that most citizens have, but there are rarer elements that occur.
Powers are generally based off of their parents power, with an equal chance to inherit one power or the other. However, in very rare occasions, some Unrest characters may inherit both of these powers, resulting in "hybrid power". This is a combination of the powers; for example, if a hybrid has parents with metal and fire, their power might be molten metal.

When children are born, they do not know how to use their powers. Generally, as they grow, they learn from their parents and other children how to use their powers. However, by adulthood, many have a basic grasp on their element. Some instead travel to Hezkuntza, where they learn to completely control their element. Hezkuntza hosts the most illustrious school for powers and magic, allowing its students to fully understand and wield their element. Powers take a long time to control, so while many students are experienced, sometimes it takes almost an entire lifespan in order to "master" a certain element. Those who have mastered an element often teach to others, and are referred to by the telling title "Master".

Masters of hybrid powers are incredibly rare, leading for those who have hybrid powers to struggle learning their element. They have to learn on their own, try to learn both of the elements their hybrid powers are comprised of, or not use their powers at all.

The Basic elements are known as the Big Four, as they are the most common elements. Many of the citizens in Eleria have one of these four elements, though the skill someone has is largely dependent on age, knowledge of the element, and amount of practice.

W A T E R

Water is versatile and generally very easy to control, given how many aspects of life rely on water. In order for this element to work properly, water must be available, as water users cannot summon water (though they may draw water from things). Many water users choose to have their element visible so that they can have water near them at all times, or carry some form of water container so that they can use their element when they would like to. With its versatility, water can be used for both fighting and for healing, making it a popular element for those who are in the medical field. The level of intensity that one can create is based on experience: someone who has been using water their whole life may be able to make a small tsunami, whereas someone who just turned an adult would be nowhere near being able to do that. Water user are limited strictly to water, and cannot create ice or gas out of water.

Unlike the other basic elements, fire is something that can be conjured without an available fire source nearby. Out of the basic elements, this one is the most sought for, because it does not rely on anything like water might. The fire element users can also control fire that is not their own. Fire is mainly used in the workforce or in battle, with some limited use for healing (such as sealing small wounds). When used properly, fire can be immensely powerful. Many fire users tend to show off their prowess by having their fire visible on them, but not all of them do this. Like water, the intensity and range of the fire is based on experience of the element.

Unlike water, earth tends to be a very hard element to control. It does have a myriad of uses however, and can be used almost at any time, given that earth users can manipulate the ground. While earth users can only control the earth, it is almost as if it can be conjured, as the ground is often readily available. Earth can be used for both offensive and defensive, but it has no healing properties, which may be a struggle for some who work as defenders that get hurt frequently. Earth users can get very creative with this quirk and what it does. However, compared to the other basic elements, the strength needed to transform earth is much more necessary, making earth users tired quicker than the elements. If the earth they are transforming starts to turn into a compressed source such as metal or coal, they will lose power.

Much like water, air is very easy to control. Much like earth, there are a lot of uses for air, especially given how readily available air is in the atmosphere. Air users cannot summon air but instead wield it, focusing on the lightness and versatility of the air. Air is mainly used for offensive properties, and does not have many defensive or healing aspects to it. Air can be controlled through careful practice, as air is very reliable on clear thoughts. While earth requires physical strength, it is said that air requires more mental well-being and strength. Air is a very sneaky sort of element since you cannot see this element in work.

The uncommon elements are elements that are slightly rarer than the Big Four, often considered to be branching off those main elements with more specialty.

Rare elements are elements that are more common than very rare elements, but not as common as the uncommon elements. These elements are considered to be their "own" element, not branching off the Big Four elements like uncommon elements are.

Very rare elements are elements that are only held by a few groups of people of Eleria. They are considered to be more powerful than the other elements and are highly coveted after.

Limited elements are the rarest elements of them all, and considered the absolute most powerful. Anyone who has one of these elements is highly respected and very well known, due to how select these powers manifest.
