Redwood Valley Feral Horse Association
The RVFHA is a collaboration between
lovers of all feral horses to organize
competitions, programs, and
incentives for the overall betterment
of of the breeds. We offer a
multitude of opportunities for owners
of purebred horses and grade horses
alike, as well as an easy-to-navigate
database of the best stallions, mares,
and geldings registered within the
association. In order to register you
must own at least one horse of feral
descent - the current recognized
breeds are listed below. If you notice
that one is missing, please make note
of it below so that the president
might place it on the list. The
registration fee is currently 200c
- this includes your horse's
registration in the stud book
(information below) as well as their listing
on the leaderboards. RVFHA insurance plans
are a separate entity and must be
registered for in their own right. If for
whatever reason you cannot afford
placement in the RVFHA, you may be
entitled to financial aid - please PM the
president for more information.

RVFHA Insurance

RVFHA Insurance
INSURANCE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED
Our four-hooved companions unfortunately don't last forever. When they get into trouble, as well, the costs can be damaging to an owner's finances. To alleviate some of the stresses of horse ownership, RVFHA offers four insurance plans, allowing you to choose a policy that suits you and your horse's needs. Below you can find all the information you need to make an informed decision and get started with a plan that will bring you peace of mind and financial security.

How does it work?
Insurance plans with RVFHA are paid
monthly, on a set day each month.
Each plan offers a different amount
of coverage; every plan offers some
sort of mortality coverage,
transferring some or all of the value
of your horse to your account upon
the death of the insured horse. As
well, some plans offer farrier and
medical coverage in a similar
manner.

There are two values that could
possibly be assigned to your horse:
a calculated value based on your
horse's stats, or the price for which
you purchased your horse. If your
horse was bred by you, the latter is
not an available option; if your was
a paid foundation adopt, its
adoption fee can be multiplied by 3
to create a value. You are allowed to
choose the higher value upon
opening the plan. Your horse's value
will likely be lower than its true sale
value; as such, its value will
increase with various achievements.
Breeding your horse and winning
competitions with it will increase
your horse's value without increasing
your monthly payment; upon the
death of the horse, you will retrieve
some or all of the horse's value
depending on the plan.

The monthly payment depends on
your horse's stats, breedings,
competition wins, and age at
registration. Thus, it is most
economical to register a horse when
it is young - however, the RVFHA
Gold Plan does not factor in age.

The most expensive RVFHA plans
cover all medical bills and farrier
bills. This includes gelding fees,
gelding and birthing complications,
showing injuries, and lost shoes.
Showing injuries and lost shoes are
automatically paid for; however, you
must submit a claim in order to
redeem payment for the other two.
To submit a claim, send a PM to
caf. titled "RVFHA Insurance" (case
sensitive) with a link to the post by
SydneyandStorm detailing the vet
fees.
Available Plans
Listed in order of expense.

Mortality Plan - Owner receives
100% of horse's value upon death of
insured horse.

Basic Plan - 80% farrier coverage
and 75% medical coverage. Owner
receives 75% of horse's value upon
death of insured horse.

Premium Plan - 100% farrier
coverage and 100% medical
coverage. Owner receives 100% of
HBV upon death of insured horse.

RVFHA Gold Plan - 100% farrier
coverage and 100% medical
coverage. Owner receives 150% of
HBV upon death of insured horse.
Only available to starred horses.

Bundle Discount - For owners that
register three or more horses on
the same plan on the same day.
25% off the combined payments.
Does not stack.

Purchasing Plans
In order to purchase one or more
plans, you will PM a form to caf..
You'll receive a quote of the
monthly payment and the
calculated value of the horse -
upon accepting, you will need to
pay your first payment.

Please PM this form to caf. with
the message title "RVFHA
Insurance" (case sensitive) to
ensure the message makes it into
the correct folder.

Code: Select all
RVFHA Insurance

Horse: (link to page)
Desired Plan:
Horse's Offspring: (if
applicable, links please)
Bank Account: (link)

Any other questions can be PMed
to caf. under the same message
title. At any time you are free to
inquire how much your horse is
currently insured for. As well, you
can change your plan - however,
keep in mind that downgrading may
not be economical if your horse's
value has drastically increased.
Payment Rules
Payments are expected every
month on the date upon which the
plan was started. Upon the day the
payment is due, you will receive a
PM reminding you of the amount
due - you have 24 hours to update
your account following the
reminder. If the bank account is
still not updated after this time
has passed, your insurance plan
will be frozen for six days; during
this time, the horse is no longer
covered. If a week passes from the
reminder email in which the
payment is still not secured, the
plan will be terminated.

If you wish to recover a frozen
plan, please respond to the
reminder email verifying that you
have updated your bank account.
Otherwise, there is no need to
respond to the reminder.

If you are aware in advance that
you will be absent on a payment
date, you may pay in advance -
however, you may only pay a single
month at a time.

Plan Termination
If you would like to terminate a
plan, you may respond to a
reminder PM or send a new PM with
the title "RVFHA Insurance" (case
sensitive) to cancel the plan. You
will receive back one monthly
payment. If the horse was part of a
bundle discount, the discount will
be removed from the other
involved horses.

In the event you decide to sell your
horse, you have the choice of
whether or not you would like to
cancel the plan. If you do cancel it,
you will receive back one monthly
payment. If you do not, the plan
will be frozen - upon the successful
sale of the horse, the new owner
will be notified that the horse is
insured and asked whether or not
they would like to continue it or
cancel it. If the new owner cancels
the plan, they receive no
compensation.

Postby caf. » Wed Aug 31, 2016 12:40 pm

Stud Book
The RVFHA Studbook is a comprehensive lookup of all breedable horses registered in the RVFHA. Information is available to all users regarding plentiful information including stud/breeding fees, show records, coat colors, and other such data. For the purposes of the stud book, "wins" means 1st places in any RVEC schooling or invitational show, "podiums" means 1st-3rd places at such shows, and "leaderboards" means 1st-5th places.

VIEW THE STUD BOOK HERE

The stud book query service allows you to have RVFHA offer to you three possible breeding horses that suit your needs. To submit a free query simply post the form below in the topic and you will shortly receive a PM with the results of your query. You need only fill out as many fields as you feel are necessary, and you have no obligation to choose any of the suggested horses; the query system is simply a way to quickly find horses that match your criteria without the hassle of stud-searching! Listing Board

Oftentimes simply having a great horse isn't enough - you must know how to advertise it to be successful. At the head of the RVFHA campus stands a huge bulletin board where advertisements of all types are posted - stud listings, breeding requests, sales, leases, and a myriad of other notes are posted on the board. In order to make a new listing, post the form at the bottom of the board in this thread and wait for it to appear! Make sure to include specifics in your listing, including prices. Advertisements posted to this board must pertain directly to the RVFHA - not a feral horse? Not supposed to be here.

Wishing Well

Postby caf. » Wed Aug 31, 2016 12:41 pm

Image
If you spend enough time on the RVFHA campus, you'll
eventually notice a small wooden well tucked behind an
empty dry lot. Surprisingly, the little thing still seems to
be in quite good condition; everything appears to be
working correctly and the well itself is in good shape -
clearly somebody cares well for this little thing. Looking
down into it, you'll notice piles of coins at the bottom. Ah
- a wishing well! Maybe sometime you'll stop by and drop a
few coins in, murmuring a wish as you go by. Fortune,
happiness, tack, who knows - maybe you could get lucky?
the wishing well fairy is pretty greedy and a bit of a jerk - bribery
seems to be the way to go with her. make sure your wish is for
something worthwhile and not just for money - else, be thankful
for what you get.

non-registered users can use the well too!)

Names Carved Into The Well:
The Dry Lot
Next to the wishing well lies a small paddock with a run-in shelter, a water trough,
and a few flakes of hay. The owner of the Association comes by a few times a day,
checking and refilling as needed. Everyone here knows what the dry lot's for - it's
the last resort. If you have a horse - any horse, even if it's not registered or even
feral in the first place (be careful; dropping a horse without even donating a few
coins to assist in its care could put you in bad standings with the association) can
be turned out here. Once a horse is placed into the dry lot, it is taken into the
hands of the Association and temporarily stabled at Cavallo Stables. The horse will be
either sold or given away to some lucky person or another. Dry lot transactions are
conducted privately, and once a horse has been surrendered the username on its
page defaults to caf. - in short, nobody has to know that you
surrendered the horse. The Association understands that sometimes these decisions
must be made and will not hold you in poor standing for placing a horse here. It'll
find a forever home soon; just make sure you give it a pat goodbye as you leave.
Dry lot transactions are to be conducted privately with the president of the
Association.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about the way our facility runs? Here's the place to find the answer! If you still have questions after reading through this, please post them in the thread or PM the president.

What are the requirements for registering a horse in the RVFHA?
The answer to this question is fairly simple; if you own at least one horse that has a feral descendant somewhere in its lineage, then you are eligible to register with the RVFHA. All breeds listed on the main post are automatically considered feral except for the two starred breeds - they must be explicitly stated as feral. If you own a horse you believe to be a descendant of a feral horse (note - IRL horses like the Olympic series are not eligible unless explicitly stated), include a link to proof in your signup. We here at RVFHA greatly encourage the use of feral horses in other bloodlines, meaning that even your good old grade horse, if it's got the blood of a feral horse back in its lineage, can be registered.

Why aren't Icelandic Horses/Connemaras/etc. accepted into the RVFHA?
While Icelandic Horses and Connemaras do indeed run feral in their homelands, these horses are not subject to herd management and are often already owned. The goal of the RVFHA is to promote adoption, breeding, and usage of horses subject to herd management; thus, the aforementioned breeds are not truly a part of this group. However, any associations dedicated to this breed are welcome to partner with RVFHA!

Why do you allow grade horses into your program?
In essence, a feral horse is simply one that is descended from domesticity but has yet to be affected by it. All feral horses are, in a sense, grade horses - mustangs aren't a true breed but a conglomeration of Spanish ponies and farm horses. As an association, we're not about 'improving' the breeds, but more aim to increase awareness and respect for these charming, versatile horses.

Does RVFHA registration only get me access to the competitions, points program, and studbook?
Not at all! RVFHA is set to hold many events for owners of feral and feral-descended horses, and you will find your time here to be extremely rewarding. If you have a suggestion for an event, send the club president a PM and they might just make it happen!

Does RVFHA have a brand?
Not yet! We've been looking to design a brand that cleverly captures the spirit of the Association, but have yet to come up with a strong idea. If you have any input, please feel free to post it on this thread - you might even receive a small prize for your help!

Is there a way to donate to the RVFHA?
That's what our little wishing well is for! It's just a fun little way to say 'keep it up' to the minds behind our association and give them a chance to do something nice. If you truly just want to give a little money out of the goodness of your heart, just say that you don't have a wish or wish or the wellbeing of the association.

Who runs this thing?
Two answers. I, overcaffienated., did all the coding, typing, managing, blah-de-blah that went into this association. However, in the SIM world itself, the Association is run by the daughter of my original character, Kasey Cavallo. Perhaps she'll pop up around here every now and again if demand runs high.

Help! I'm registered with the RVFHA and I'm running out of money, can you help me?
Of course! The RVFHA proudly stands behind all of its members. We have a multitude of ways to help you, from crowdfunding to simple donation to your cause, depending on the severity of the situation. Don't be shy about asking for help - we're here to support you!
