At last, this is truly something ze'll enjoy at the Samhain festival! It's neither loud nor is it overwhelming. It's just a quaint little eating contest. The tables in front of hir were lined evenly together. The sweet scent of bread loaves danced across hir nose, nearly making hir glide on hir paws. The bread were neatly place on plates, each hiding the main prize; an acorn.

Indok has many ideas on why the acorn may be significant, but one thing's for sure, ze must get it soon. Ze settled down as ze took the most delicious loaf. Hir best technique is to take things slowly, and that's exactly what ze'll do. With enough care, ze might detect the acorn somewhere in the bread. Eyes closed, Indok took the softest bite ze could make.

Cloud found herself wandering around the festival, feeling awkward. She used to go to things liek this all the time, back when her bandmates were still alive. They would all laugh, share stories, and just let go of any worries they had. How could they know that it would all end like it did?

"Earth to Cloooooud," Ash said, before gently nudging her in the side. "Look, I get it. Been a cruffy week? but why not... bond with us all a bit an' enjoy yerself huh? Not that I care or anythin' haha! Buuuut I did think, just maybe, we could split an acord bread and..."

"Sure," Cloud replied, her voice soft but a genuine smile forming across her features. As the pair bit down, Cloud blinked as she heard a gentle crack. "Huh... I found it!"

"Maybe yer luck is turnin' 'round yeah?"

"Yeah... maybe it is."

“Luck will be on my side tonight! Isn't that right, Arthur?” Flea smirked widely as he looked to his life companion for assurance of their supposed soon to be victory, so sure that he would be the one to get the acorn in the barmbrack tonight. It was hard to say if the rat partner agreed with Flea's sentiment or not, but he moved on to say a few more brags, not even having waited for a proper reply from the rodent friend.
Willow sat across from him, somehow having found herself in his company for this traditional bread eating game. There was no way to know how the two ended up here, but she was fine with this outcome. Flea was entertaining in his own way and Willow's own quirks wouldn't be so odd next to whatever the black Catshee got up to. Besides, she had her own faith in being able to win. Not to show him up, no, but just because she wanted to, as everyone around them did.
The loaf of barmbrack arrived, fresh and warm. The two got the bread evenly split, quiet having fallen between them. Both brought the loaves up for the first bite… (201)

The truth about agreeing to volunteer as a medic for a festival was it meant you often didn't have time to enjoy the festival yourself. Such was the case for Starlight. By the time things slowed down most nights the booths were empty and the games were shut down; and even during quieter moments Starlight insisted her fellow volunteers go and enjoy the festivities over her.

Which was why when tonight have proven to be a calmer night in general and there was no viable way to justify having everyone at the tent several of the other medics had practically thrown her out with the instruction to enjoy herself! She'd gotten word about the barmbrack, hard to miss it when a couple catshee had come seeking help for nearly inhaling the bread, and figured that was as good an activity as any.

Still it wasn't easy to turn her medic mind off, as she'd wandered through the crowds, finding more and more attendees with barmbrack she'd gently scolded a few for the reckless abandon with which they ate. Instructing others to take small bites to avoid the potential for chipping a tooth. By the time she got her paws on the snack herself more than a few attendees were giving her funny looks. To be expected, it wasn't like it was really her job to babysit anyone anyways.

So it was probably a relief when she finally started eating, her careful bites not large but certainly impeding her ability to mother the others around her. Plus it tasted quite good actually!

The festivities have left Barkley a bit aimless. Mystique's been busy fraternizing with potential followers, and Milk Dud isn't exactly her kind of company. Still, she's not lonely. Why would she be lonely?

Okay, well, maybe the way other catshee back away from her when she yips makes her feel a bit ostracized. Seeing all the others split barmbrack and chat amongst themselves is... a complicated feeling. Communication like that has always been overrated, in her eyes, but she'd like to sit with someone, at least.

Just when she's made the decision to shove herself into another group, with or without their permission, a tail brushes against her side. She looks over, surprised to see another catshee holding out a piece of barmbrack. Without a word, the pair walk to a mostly-empty section of the clearing and settle down to split the barmbrack, contentedly chowing down in silence.

When one of them finally bites into something hard, it's Barkley who recoils in pain with a yelp--Her gaze shoots up to see her companion's reaction, only to see they haven't moved at all. Maybe they'd already heard her voice before approaching? Her fur settles, and she looks to see the acorn she bit. Huh...

Catshee weaved between each other, their cloaks and costumes pulled close to block out the cold drizzle that had descended on the party. It did not dampen their spirits, though, and the festivities continued.

Seraph trots away on light paws from a large archfey that had something to tell them about the exact contents of each piece of acorn bread. Flour, yeast, love... acorn. She spun it around in her paws, approaching the deer-like catshee she had agreed to play the bread game with.

To be honest, she was very concerned about biting into an acorn, and the only way she was convinced was her own competitive nature. Oh, how awful it would be to chip a fang on one of these dreadful cooked nuts!

At her approach to Shiva, she started to gingerly tear the warm bun in half. Seraph held out the two pieces, "I broke it, you get to pick which is your half." she hummed, her eyes narrowed with amusement, raising her eyebrows and saying "Interesting..." as soon as Shiva would reach for a piece, and no matter which one she would nod affirmatively.

Oh how she hoped Shiva got the acorn. Seraph considered tearing pieces of her bread off to ensure there was no cooked nut, though figuring it wasn't the spirit of the game, she took a large bite.

Too big, she thought, as she tried to chew.

"Oh!" her eyes widened, a half smile crossing her face as she bit into the acorn. They produced the acorn, showing it off to Shiva, eyes shining. Perhaps she DID want it after all.
