The voice had gone quiet for a time, as though sorting through all of their new information, or pondering what to do next. From time to time you swear you can hear skittering, or see an eye or two blink at your direction. But after a time, you hear their voice again. "...I'll admit it is nice to hear such... lively voices. I am still oh so curious about your worlds. Do they eventually end up here?" A pause, before you hear a wistful sigh now above you? When did they move up there? And indeed, you see the eyes above you. Somehow they seem delighted in your surprise.

"Or do they eventually find their way out, to your homes I wonder? What would happen if you... stayed with me longer I wonder?" You're not sure if its meant to be reassuring or frightening. They do not seem to want to scare you, perhaps their friend skills are just rusty?

1. Stew looks around before answering, hoping that there’s no sluggums he recognizes around, or any other slugs at all. “I miss it.” He sighs, “I hate admitting it but I do. There’s endless kelp in the ravines, Soleil hates it, I dunno why, but he does. But I love it, the kelp is tasty aand sometimes I find a couple urchins I can crack open and eat. And I get to swim as far as I want as long as Pom-Pom knows where I am. She gets anxious when I disappear and.. oh Yoba, they’ve gotta be so worried by now.”

2. “Uh, yeah, I guess so. I don’t make a lot of friends, I have a lover and I don’t even know how I got so lucky. But uh, I don’t need friends,” He puffs his fur out with relaxed confidence, “I’ve got Pom-Pom and Yoba, and that’s enough for me. And Mordax, I guess.”

3. “To be fully honest, I think it was the one where I met ‘Yoba’, or well, the puppet of Yoba. I swam into a new cave in the southern ravine, deeper than I ever went and I followed this strange light. And they were snoozing over a heat vent.” Stew sits down and rests his head on his front paws, “They were this giant, radiant looking Sluggum that looked so.. so… otherworldly. Just seeing them left me speechless. They had this long kinda-yellow white hair and these golden strands in it like they were natural, an-and they just looked like everything shiny and pretty. They were so nice too, and sometimes they let me visit for kelp cakes n’ stuff.” Stew shrugs and tilts his head, feeling the adrenaline from the past few days finally subside for long enough for exhaustion to seep in and tempt him with the sweet promise of sleep.

This time its Curation that steps forward, facing the direction of the voice steadily.

"My home is- or rather used to be - the void, I suppose. It's a long story." He quickly added. "But I hardly ever stayed in it since there's just a whole lot of..." He made a face and gestured in the air with one paw. "Nothing! It's endless, and while some parts could somewhat bend to the will of other entities like myself in there, it was still just so blank."

He sat down, tucking in his wings closely.

"So I do travel, actually, I do it a lot." He continued on. "I flit from one place to the next, usually taking on different forms to fit and well, just for the fun of it! I love places with color- Oh there was this time where it was autumn and there was this beautiful hillside with scattered trees and more butterflies than you could count!"

He smiled, and his wings ruffled, as though the memory was so vivid that he could forget where he was.

"Oh, you haven't lived until you've been the wind under their wings, lifting them up. There's nothing like it!" His voice trailed into a whisper laced with awe. "You feel them, their existence. It's like you are them, all at once. And they are you."

Curation sighed, coming down from the fantastical memory. "And while exploring is great and I don't think I could go on without it, there was a serene peace to the void, usually at least. I had friends there, too, mostly. I do miss them; I haven't been able to see them ever since I got stuck like-" He gestured to himself. "This."

There were a few moments of silence before Curation continued on. "Though I do like making new friends! Just look at this bunch!" He nodded in the direction of his travel companions. "I like to think I'm pretty friendly, and well, they seem to agree! There's always so much more to a creature than you could imagine, and the only way you'll ever know is to become a part of their story yourself! I just always make sure I'm a chapter they'll think of fondly."

He smiled. This place was unnerving, but it wasn't nearly as bad once he knew he had companions. As strange as it may sound, even the ominous voice from the unseen entity would've been company.

"I like talking late at night, swapping stories, snacking on food, or just sitting in quiet company. I don’t mind being alone either, though. There’s a nice calmness in it. I guess it depends on the day and who’s around."

He adjusted himself on his feet, as though nervous on being judged with his answer.






#3 "My greatest adventure so far was when I left the island for the first time! I followed these glowing mushrooms that floated out over the water.. I didn’t even know they could do that. I just kept swimming, and the sea glowed all around me." He looked up for reassurance, continuing on his story after knowing he had their undivided attention

"I found a hidden cave filled with strange roots that moved on their own, like they were alive. It was scary, but, exciting too. I stayed there until sunrise, then came back home with a bit of the glowing moss as a keepsake. It still shines faintly when I’m feeling brave enough to look at it.. Do you have something you like to look at?"

"my home's a quaint little bakery in a small town, i do miss it a lot. you get used to the everyday routine of waking up early to prepare everything, and it's quite a difference to have some time off to myself. traveling's great and all, but i think i'm just a homebody." the green sluggum nods, smiling as she thinks of her cozy home above the bakery. decorated with countless vines and succulents, the rustic brown walls almost emanate a sense of calm. "i've put a lot of effort into my space, but i'm so proud of how it looks now. you'd never believe the before and after photos!" she giggled, pink sparkles of magic dancing around her.

"i have a few close friends, but i wouldn't say i'm the life of the party by any means." flora laughed, tucking her tail over her paws neatly. "luffy is a good friend of mine, we've been friends since we were little kids! he's got a lot of friends, way more than me. boreas is a more recent friend, but they're quite nice as well. i enjoy sitting and having a nice cup of tea with them on chilly winter nights, the way they narrate stories is just captivating to witness." flora began to recount various stories of her two sluggum friends to the glowing yellow eyes, fondness softening her expression and voice.

Abyss scuffs the ground with their paw. “Our home is the Great Dragon Turtle. We all live there along with many, many others. She has different ecosystems for each type of Sluggem, and the plants grow there abundantly. It’s a haven for those like us.” They look wistfully at the others, who all nod and sigh.

Abyss settles down onto the ground, tucking their legs underneath themselves to loaf. “Sluggems can find a home and Partner, if you just know how to look for one. Mine is an anemone in the coral reef. Wavelets’s is a dense stranded of kelp in the kelp forest. And Miasma’s is a giant clam in the section that isnt too dissimilar to a Lagoon, I think. We’d like to go back—I miss Anemone, even if we share a telepathic link. This adventure is fun and all, I just… I miss them.” They sigh forlornly, cuddling into Wavelet and Miasma.

Miasma huffs unhappily, settling his head onto his paws. “I can’t wait to get back to Giant Clam.”

Wavelet playfully rolls her head on Abyss’s back, but her tone is melancholy. “I miss Kelp. And she misses me, too. Worried about us.”
