q: will you come back?
bram's eyebrows furrow at the question and the answer that follows. he doesn't translate, but rune does. "he... says he'll try. it doesn't sound convincing. it could be that... he doesn't know how to come back to us...?"
q: how can we help?
"pie- pieces... missing pieces...?" bram seems disappointed by how little the response seems to point them in the right direction. the board has grown still, but rune suggests, "...perhaps if we could bring all his pieces back together somehow...?"
q: do you have a favorite song?
"triangle!" bram is quite eager to ask this question and share the answer. rune looks on with disapproval. you're unsure if bram misunderstood or translated incorrectly.
q: who is your favorite hero?
as you finish asking this, the planchette moves automatically. "should have asked him a harder question! his favorite is joker or harley quinn, of course- he's partial to clowns." "tch-heh... he said sideshow bob and... ronald mcdonald." there is a silence that follows the question that makes your heart ache. it's obvious these two are missing their very dear jester.
q: what is your favorite time of the night?
the board moves slowly, and the answer seems simple, though you can't quite speak clown. "...he said 4:13?" "i didn't think he had a favorite time..."
q: do you like chocolate?
"oh yeah, of course." "the question was for jystyr, not you." the board moves quickly on its own; the two speak almost in unison. "he's laughing...!" "honk-honk-honk... yeah... he is."
q: do you miss being here?
"...i don't want to ask that." a determined look crosses bram's face at rune's words, and the other scientist pointedly stares at the board as it moves. "why were you even worried about the answer? of course he misses us! see?" rune begrudingly acknowledges the answer from the board, but he soon makes an effort to look away again.
q: does it hurt?
a scowl crosses rune's face. "...i refuse to ask that." you can't seem to catch bram's gaze- he hides behind rune expertly making himself look occupied with nothing at all. the board moves without anyone touching the planchette; honk honk honk honk honk. neither of the scientists look at it. too bad you can't understand clown.
q: what's your favorite show?
the two goobies seem relieved to have a lighter question tossed their way. "jystyr made us watch all of lost! that's his favorite, it has to be." he looks at the board, his nose scrunching up with confusion as it remains still for a few long moments. when it finally moves, rune translates "lost. the office. the simpsons. and... suits...? i can't say i've ever heard him mention suits before now." "...i hope we're not getting interference." rune looks doubtful about the possibility before shrugging, ultimately unsure.
q: do you want to come back?
it takes some convincing for this question to go through, the two scientists wary of more distressful answers. rune is the one who translates the response, his voice carefully monotone. "he said... please." "isn't... isn't that also the word for bad?" "he's- he badly wishes to return."
a silence follows the rapid series of questions as you take in the answers, and try to think of what to ask next...

question: Where are your missing pieces?
additional content:
A clue. Missing pieces... perhaps it has something to do with the mysterious goo falling from the sky? Alistaire pauses for a moment, head lowered in thought, sharp eyes focused on the planchette as it rests on the board, waiting patiently for yet another question.
Alistaire recalls that the Gob did indeed have inky black hair like a moonless night, a river of stars within as though he contained an entire galaxy within himself. He sits before the Honk Board, disconcerted still, at the answers received. The discomfort of the scientists tells him that this is just as hard on them as it is on poor Jystyr, who has long since vanished from this plane of existence.
"Where are your missing pieces?"He can feel the weight of his own words on his tongue once more. Hopeful, perhaps, that these questions will help bring Jystyr back.

question: Do you resent the Gobbess?
additional content:
Mayhem, for all of xes assuredness and dedication to impartiality, couldn't help the pure rage that thrummed through xem as xe watched today's answers come through. All of these answers sounded like something a normal goobie would say, which incensed xem even more. The Gobbess robbed this world of a true Gob who valued his creations and learned to communicate with them.
That wench of a Gobbess will pay for what she's done! In the name of Jystyr, I vow to wreck vengeance-It then occurred to the goobie, one thought that derailed xes whole thought process: would Jystyr approve of that? Jystyr, while being a being of darkness, does not condone unnecessary violence and cruelty, but often ignores crimes against himself to keep the peace. Does he even hold resentment towards the one that banished him? Xe hadn't thought to ask.
This must be remedied immediately. I need much preperation if he does want revenge. As Mayhem spelled out xes message to the Gob, xe felt a spark of appreciation grow for those who could provide some levity in between difficult questions like xes own. Xe knows xes one track mind can sometimes backfire on xem and the person xe is trying to help, so having other goobies who can give easier questions to Jystyr is always helpful.
-
As Mayhem left the tent, a memory from the Goobilee entered xes mind: a small vial of black ink that allowed xem and a handful of others to attempt communication with Jystyr. It had been a while since xe last experimented with the goo, xem being wrapped up in village repair and whatnot.
Is it possible, then, that I already hold one of Jystyr's pieces? Mayhem quickly began preparations for the transport of the goo, hope blossoming in xes chest once more.

question: How do we put the pieces back together?
additional content:
Amara is silent for a moment after the answers have been heard.
They sit, staring off into nothingness as they think. The whole time, they have to remind them self that jumping out of the nearest window to frantically start grabbing the black goo oozing everywhere is not going to help anyone. If they are to help Jystyr they'd have to do it orderly, tactically and with a system.
Amara catches another goobie ask about where Jystyr's pieces are and they glance out of the window. Everywhere, is the most likely answer.
They'd have their work cut out for them if they're to help the gob gather all his pieces.
"When we find the pieces, because we will-" Amara is full of determination. Even if it'll only be them gathering the fallen goo. They'd do it for their beloved gob. "-How do we put them together again?"
Perhaps it would be as easy and sticking all the goo into one big pile. Amara was hopeful.
